I wouldnt have ordered the clam chowder if left to my own devices, but Im so glad it happened. It was rich without being overly heavy and chock-full of diced veggies and tender mushrooms.The wedge salad was a nice, cold, crispy-fresh offset to the hot chowder; Id be happy with these two as my complete meal.The potatoes gratin with crispy mushrooms was also really good, the potatoes managed to be cheesy and creamy without a distracting fake dairy flavor.

As a non vegan I’m so impressed at how delicious the food is! The clam chowder is to die for - so creamy and filling. The chicken wings are perfectly crisp and spiced. The tacos and enchiladas also hit the spot. I wasn’t missing meat or cheese at all. The cocktails are creative and tasty too. Sam is the best! He is attentive and charismatic. It’s my new favorite happy hour spot.

Great vibe lounge bar. Vegan food menu is pretty good, cocktails are good. Stay or go after 9pm on Friday and Saturday for Dj’s spin. Music is mostly house chill vibe.

We visited on 7/28 with a party of 18. The food was outstanding, easily a 10/10. However, the service was absolutely abysmal, earning a 0/10.A week prior, we spoke to the manager, Sam, who was very sweet and helpful. He confirmed our reservation for a party of 15 (+/- 5) and even showed us the tables we would be using. However, on the day of the reservation, we were met by two women at the restaurant—one extremely sweet and the other shockingly unprofessional and rude. They claimed they had no record of our reservation and insisted they didn’t take reservations at all. The rude woman went so far as to accuse us of lying.They eventually agreed to seat us but crammed 18 of us into a table meant for 8. The unpleasant woman repeatedly returned to our table with more rude remarks, clearly looking for a confrontation. We requested to avoid any further interactions with her. We were told to take any available seats as the night progressed. Our last order was taken at 8:30 and served at 8:47. The polite waitress assured us we could stay for another hour undisturbed.Unfortunately, the rude woman returned, accusing us once more of lying about the reservation and moving furniture (we had adjusted two loose tables). She then brusquely informed us that they close at 9 and essentially told us to leave. Given the appalling service, we refused to pay the gratuity, which she clearly did not appreciate and charged us regardless.I wonder if the attitudes would’ve been the same had it not been a group of Indians.What was supposed to be a joyous birthday celebration was soured by this abysmal service. If you want to ensure a memorable evening, steer clear of this place.

I was so disappointed in the service here. I sat at the bar for about 20 minutes without getting served until I eventually left. While I was waiting, the bartenders were doing shots behind the bar and chatting. I wasnt shocked to read several other similar reviews with server issues--hard to remain professional after a few cheeky shots on shift! I was bummed, their drink menu looked great. luckily this is in an area with a lot of great spots who treat their customers with kindness and also have great drinks! highly recommend linden room, brass tacks, sugar lounge.

One of the better hidden bar/restaurant gems. Understated and connected to a garage. Vibey scene with good people watching. Back area for more dark/intimate seating.

We had watched the ballet down the street at the War Memorial and went to a nearby restaurant for dinner that didn’t offer dessert. We walked over here to grab dessert and I can say that it was phenomenal! I wish we had also come here for dinner because the food we saw being served looked amazing! This is a restaurant that caters to vegan/vegetarian pallets so I was very pleased with what we ordered. We sat at the bar and our server was very friendly. I will be coming back here to eat dinner in the future!

This bar should come with a warning. The staff are not just rude—theyre bullies. I saw them corner a young woman and make her cry because she requested a song. The OWNER and a bartender proceeded to mock her where she could obviously see them, and even did it again as the owner passed her. It was heartbreaking and completely unacceptable. There are so many wonderful bars in San Francisco; do yourself a favor and skip this one.

Great ambiance, but very disappointed by the cocktails. Will stick to beer & wine next time.The cocktails were cloyingly sweet. When I asked for them to be made less sweet, I was told they were batched cocktails.$18 for that felt like a rip off. Especially, when there was a semblance of a functioning bar.

This is place has it all - awesome vibe, food, drink, and such good music. Especially love Om Sabor in the kitchen. They have a delicious and inventive menu - the crab cakes are a MUST, one of the best dishes in San Francisco! The cocktails are delish and creative, the bartenders are as good as they get. Love this spot for date night or just to hang out

Good atmosphere; confused cocktails. For the price, we were anticipating sophisticated cocktails. The two we had were over complicated to the point that they were confused and lost clarity in the specific ingredients; a vague, overly-sweet homogenous inebriation fluid.

Nice place, to have drink and dance. They have a small club like place with tables for the people who want to dance and drink. Most of the time I feel they have small space but ultimately you will get chair to sit and drink. Good drink menus and snacks.

There’s disrespectful and rude and then there’s phonobar.Bar says it closes at 12, they start rushing everyone out at 10:50. We had someone join at 10:52, and we explicitly were going to leave by 11. Staff turns him down at the door and is super rude about it and finally lets him in. Then, when he takes 1 sip (of a drink that was going to get tossed) the server absolutely loses at the group and says we’re not welcome. If you want to have the worst night ever, then I recommend you come here!

Perfect place for brunch on Sundays! Kitchen opens until 6 pm and Chef Dhani was so friendly. The food is all vegan and extremely delicious, we ate the arepas, chilaquiles (spicy), and fruit danish.We went for cocktails last weekend and had the watermelon cocktail on tap and a gin cocktail. Perfect for dates and a small room in the back for dancing to soul/funk music.Honestly everyone who works there are exceptionally friendly, including the bouncer, bartenders, chefs and servers!

Awesome happy hour until 7p here on weekdays. Not necessarily cheap, but the food was 5star fantastic.First club my kid ever went to. He was bouncing to the DJs music at the table. Kid friendly til 8.

Great house music! The issue was that 80-90% of the dance floor was filled with people standing and talking. There are plenty of open seats, tables and designated standing areas. They huddle in groups of 4 to 8 with their drinks. The floor is slippery, even in my brand new running shoes.Id say its the venues responsibility to make sure people can actually dance on the dance floor. 2 signs with cute statements that gets the point across would make we want to return to dance often. Or simply state No drinks on the dance floor please. That would solve both problems.The drinks were excellent. Just please people, there are so many beautiful areas to drink them. The overall decor was great too.

Excellent vegan food, some of the best in the city. In a big fan of the burger. Cocktails are pretty terrible unfortunately; the menu could do with some revamping and maybe go back to basics.

Love this place! All vegan (plant-based) menu with lots of cool apps, entrees, and desserts. They have a great happy hour, and both indoor and outdoor seating. Its near the orchestra and ballet, so lots of foot traffic, but its not usually super busy. Ive gone here multiple times, just to get dinner or for happy hour, but Ive also been for events. They have a back room that is separate from the front of the restaurant.They also have beer on tap if you arent feeling cocktails. I love to hit this place up when Im near the civic center or checking out museums in the area. They have great happy hour deals during the week. The only downside I would say is that the parking is very sparse, so take public transit.

Cute bar in Hayes with an interesting selection of cocktails & vegan food (apparently it’s a pop-up)! Love that they have daily happy hour 5-7pm, though since the venue is kinda tight sometimes it’s a bit hard to find seating.

I am a Person of Color and queer. I was at the restaurant with my partner. The bar tender refused to serve us food and was extremely rude, stating they were closed but they seated and served other people who arrived after we did. I felt incredibly discriminated against. I am at a loss as to why the staff, especially the bar tender would treat us so poorly.The bottom line expectation and legal requirement is to give equal treatment to your customers. We did not get equal treatment, in fact I felt humiliated.

I absolutely LOVE when I can write a good review. I am decidedly NOT vegan. Walked into this place by mistake and loved everything I ordered. I dont know how long it will be on the menu, but you must try the mac and cheese croquettes. I also had the tacos from the happy hour menu. I dont like mushrooms, but these were excellent. This place is not solely for vegans. Its for everyone and anyone who likes good food and good vibes. Drinkwise, I had the Bad Apple. Perfect for the day after being caught in the dreary rain.Also, Sam was wonderful! Thank you for making my night! 💙 10/10 would recommend!

Interesting layout that reminded me of a train car almost. the food provided by im sabor was delicious but the well cocktails were okay.however, the service here was so bad. i needed to call for someone over 4 times and was ignored on multiple occasions. saw that others seated after us were attended to first. it kind of ruined the experience for me. would be 4 star otherwiseloaded mac and cheese: you don’t even realize it’s vegan since the flavor is still rich. the jackfruit was amazing and well seasoned

Such a great staff and really yummy food! Very hard to get a seat but a good amount of standing room with places to set your drinks. I personally did not like the drink but everyone else did 🤷🏼‍♀️😂

I love Phonobar: it has my absolute favorite happy hour in SF. The staff are always amazing. The food and drink menus shift slightly with the seasons. Never a dull moment. I have brought countless non-vegans, and they are always incredulous when they find out that the entire menu contains not a single drop of animal-derived ingredients. Keep up the great work, Phonobar!

Phonobar is always a vibe. The drinks are good and the food is even better. I didn’t even know I liked vegan food but these dishes are on another level. The management team is one of a kind. When you come here, you literally feel like family. Security is friendly and the service is top notch. 10/10 recommend.

Okay place.. a little overrated. Cocktails are not balanced. The vegetarian menu looks good on paper but we didn’t enjoy any of the four food items we ordered. I used to enjoy the food here but not any more. Staff is really cool though.

We stopped by after flying into SFO and needed a vegan late night spot. We had the hibiscus tacos which were delicious,texture was comparable to a baked barbacoa, covered with caramelized onions and a really delicious salsa they provide. The enchiladas were super rich in flavors. And the gratin potatoes with the mushrooms were OMG, between the just right consistency of creamy and cheesy of the gratin and the perfect breading on the mushrooms we licked that plate clean. My friend also had the chowder wich she loved. The place is a bit small and was a bit crowded with people standing having cocktails, wich I dont mind but you should be ready for that if youre not into that. Great music and atmosphere. Not a quiet dinner spot for sure but a 100% GREAT vegan magic open late night and with superb service.

Horrible experience at this bar. Went to the bar with my friends and ordered four bitter moon drinks and was served a drink that did not have any of the ingredients of the drink. My friend asked the bartender if it was what we ordered and he lied to our face about it being the drink. The drink we ordered did not have turmeric in it and the one we were served did as you can see in the photo. Very horrible experience when the waiter gets you and your friends’ drinks wrong and refuses to make us the one we ordered.

I was taken there for my B-day. Food is excellent: asada, pastor and baja tacos, skewers, what seemed like mac & cheese crochets and more.Great environment and friendly servers. The top tier mezcal flight was also tasty. :)

This is a cute bar and the doorman was friendly but that’s where my positive feedback ends unfortunately. The service was ok. Had a bit of a wait at the bar but wasn’t bad. The staff wasn’t very friendly or welcoming but not overly rude either, just ok. The two stars for me was the drinks. My husband had a grapefruit mezcal drink and I got something that I’m not even sure I ordered; I was expecting a Paloma but it was deep red. My husbands drink was basic, not worth $15, something you could make at home. My drink was vegetal and almost cheese-like. I couldn’t finish it. The menu online has options that look more interesting but those were not offered. Maybe it was an off night but and there’s many other bars around that are superior to this one.

Service / staff was incredibly disrespectful and rude. The waiter got upset that we moved one chair and angrily told us we would just have to stand and could not use the multiple empty chairs. He aggressively told us we should just remain standing or leave, so indeed, we left. Asked for his name, and he ignored us. Problematic staff and service seem to be a common complaint for this bar. Would not recommend.

Cocktails were great but the service was off. We each had the up in smoke cocktail and enjoyed it. The mezcal was definitely the star. Also enjoyed the forget me nots, it was the perfect amount of spicy. Wasn’t busy at all on a Tuesday night at 7 pm.It took a while for our server to visit our table, we ended up having to flag them down. When they realized we had been sitting there for a while they apologized and said they would comp our first round of drinks. We decided to order another round since the first was going to be free. When they came back with the POS for us to pay all of the drinks were on the bill. My friend was paying and didn’t say anything in the moment. We probably should have called it out but felt awkward asking for something that our server had offered.Definitely a cool spot in hayes, heard they do listening rooms in the back too. Just had a weird service experience.

Expansive and impressive drink ingredients are prepared fresh. The same amount of love and care go into the non-alcoholic drinks. The male manager is very accommodating and made us feel welcome. I have been 6 times now and if you are big about music records on Vinyl- THIS is the spot for happy hour and date night! Highly recommend the Paella.

Many of their food items have very misleading names. For example, carne asada nachos and boneless chickn wings have no meat in them.I dont think I should have to read the whole ingredient list to know the gist of what Im eating.

Great vibes!! The drinks are delicious. The service is a little slow but I went at night and it was really busy so that is to be expected. The front room is a nice place to sit and chat and the back room is very loud and has a DJ.

Dont believe the hype. Terrible & Overrated. The food is bland, tasteless even for vegan. My main complaint are the cocktails. These are not craft cocktails. I was surprised to find my drink was delivered so fast was room temperature. I ordered another, a different cocktail, and watched the bartender make it in seconds. Instead of properly making the drink in a shaker or mixing glass filled with ice, he placed a big cube in a room temperature glass, poured in the ingredients, gave it a stir, and then put on some garnish. If you didnt know, the big cube is not used to chill the cocktail, it keeps it cool and is also for presentation. Buy the time this big cube finally chills the drink to a proper temperature, its a diluted waste of spirits.Sitting at the bar, I watched both bartenders do the same thing. Poorly made cocktails, way too expensive for the lack of effort. Ive had better made cocktails at Tenderloin dive bars and a quarter the price. Its great for them, they can turn over customers quickly, save money on not having to clean shakers or mixing glasses.I give one star for the friendliness of the staff, but it still does not compensate for the terrible cocktails and bland food.They should change the name to Psuedobar.

The first time I visited Phonobar was on my birthday with my brother. We are both lifelong vegetarians and connoisseurs of fine vegetarian and vegan cuisine. After perusing the Om Sabor menu online we canceled our reservation at Greens and decided to try something new... And we were so happy that we did... The food was absolutely delicious!We sat in the hip lounge area near the DJ booth. It was gracefully lit with dim lighting which was bright enough to easily read the menus which were well organized and printed with large clean text.The service was friendly and attentive. And the atmosphere was festive!Most importantly, the food was amazing! Om Sabor - Phonobar is one of my favorite places to eat in San Francisco!

Yummy experience. Great vibes with bartenders who their way around the drinks. Slurp. We had the mezcal sour and the boulvadier. Both whipped up exceptionally with a unique set of ingredients.

I have had 4 happy hours, 3 dinners at this hip spot. Wonderful cocktails, even non-alcoholic versions are amazing and unclockable. Helpful staff, wonderful manager. Later in the evening, vinyl is spinning in the back room and the vibe is fabulous. LGBTQ+ friendly and has an underground feel, a secret that many are yet to discover. My fave spot in the city.

Feels like a regular bar.... the branding made us think the music was especially creative. Too much fake meat on the menu imo. Ok w vegan if its real food though. Waiters were nice enough.

What a joke of a place. They are the worst bar I’ve ever been to in SF. They kicked us out for no reason. We asked the security guard to give us one single reason, he couldn’t give us any argument. Bartenders and security guard. Biggest clowns I’ve seen in my life. Security guard eventually said “have a nice time walking back home”.We were literally just standing talking with each other, drinking water and they told us “you finish that water and you get out”.

This is one of my favorite places in the Bay Area. The food is amazing, drinks are creative and delicious, music is cool. I love the vibe and come back as often as possible since I live in the east bay.

* Jackfruit Crab cakes - very good* Mac and cheese croquettes - great* Truffle Mac and cheese - very good but too liquidy, needed to be cheesier and/or creamier. The crusted top was delicious and would have been even better with more of that.Little pricey but excellent food.

We stopped by while visiting San Fran under a recommendation. Place had a neat look on the inside. The doorman was very friendly and welcoming. Our T Swift look a like server was very nice as well. Came in and a table was being cleaned, (as it was find your own seating) we took the table. Someone left a phone behind and we turned it into the waitress and placed our drink order. As drinks came the manager came up to our table and asked about when we first arrived. We thought it was about the phone we had found but instead he began telling us how the party sitting there before us had just gone outside and if they came back he was obligated to give them back this particular table. Made no sense to us as there was no assigned seating. The little man didnt even offer a resolution for us, such as were we could go if he had to give them back that particular table. Put a damper on the experience so rather than stay and wait for this man to come back and bother us we just paid for the 2 drinks and left.

I could sit here all day writing this review about how absolutely fantastic Phonobar, its staff, its food, its atmosphere, its EVERYTHING is. We got married in San Francisco on October 11th and at the very last minute, our venue for dinner cancelled on us. We had our after-party scheduled with Phonobar, and within a few hours they agreed to host us for the entire evening. Sam is an angel on this Earth - such a fantastic host, incredible human and made our night as incredible as it was. Chef Jay and his team gave our family and friends a meal that they are still talking about, and one of their staff members was our DJ and she absolutely crushed it (I see you, Avery!!!). We are forever indebted to this team and this incredible business for making our wedding everything we had wanted and more. If you are looking for life-changing food, incredible music, even better drinks and amazing vibes, Phonobar is your spot. We are already planning our next trip into the city to visit again - we miss everyone so much!

Desserts tasted great, but we were informed that even if thats all we were going to order, this is the type of bar where we have to give our card to run a tab as well as preset the tip percentage. Not sure if this was the bars policy or just the way the system was set up. We liked the desserts well enough to come back and try the food and drinks one of these days.

Great little local venue for cocktails and an intimate lounge with DJs who spin most weekends. I believe they partnered with a local restaurant to offer food, but Ive only gone for live music and drinks

We were walking from one bar to the next when we found this one. We stopped for a drink. Bar tenders were friendly, it was not too busy, and has a few specialty drinks that looked really good.

We came for a place (that we will not mention by name) that was recommended to us that was a couple of blocks away from here. We entered that place and it just didnt fit our vibe. Their bouncer recommended this place and we are so glad that he did. Avery greeted us at our table and she was such a joy. She was very knowledgeable and had the greatest personality. Honestly of all the amazing people we have had the honor of meeting this vacation, she has perfectly exemplified what we had hoped to find in San Francisco. We go to places because of the products they offer, but are truly blessed to find people like Avery who offer it... And their hearts... And their souls... And who truly care about their customers whether they see them once or weekly. Thank you for employing such a shooting star.

Beautiful atmosphere and decor. Love the backroom where you can easily accomadate a large party for food and drinks. The food is delicious, my favorites being the flautas and tacos. The cocktails are well crafted with quality unique ingredients and with both vegan and standard options. Love this place

Five star! For sure! First time @Phonobar really enjoyed the food, drinks & ambiance. DJ was playing in the back room! Me and my family enjoyed the Crab cakes, Truffle Fries, Kale Salad, The Gratin Potatoes are a must! Burger awesome! Great selection of House Crafted Cocktails! The Banana Split was the end of our Dinner. Really a fun & delicious place, really recommend for everyone out there! Cheeers!!👍🍷

Dark, intimate space, perfect for deep house vibes. Its a long, narrow venue, but worthwhile to make your way to the back to check out a DJ set if there is one going on.

Cozy and chic ambiance. Great craft cocktails and shareable bites. Ideal to go before a show at Bill graham or Davies Symphony Hall.

Bartenders are fast and the atmosphere is pretty cool here, however the bar selection isnt that great and the cocktail menu is rather short. The drinks on the menu are alright and bartenders are knowledgeable of classic cocktails off the menu, but would not recommend for folks that dont like tequila or know much about cocktails.

Came by here to see a DJ I liked. The venue is a cool and small venue with a back room. Although it was typical cool night in SF, the back room was over 90 degrees and was pretty rough. Also, the sound system is not loud enough for a club type venue. I brought earplugs, but for sure did not need them. The drinks are very good here, but they take a while, so I think I spent half the time waiting for drinks. Still a good venue.

Chill spot for a date or casual drinks with friends. You can hear yourself talk and enjoy delicious drinks and great musical energy. The cocktail list seems to be pretty limited on the menu these days but the bartender can make you just about anything on the fly.

Extremely rude bartender - he kept criticizing how i treated some server who i never even talked to and apparently i waved her off? and when the person i came with went to the bar and literally only asked him where I was he kept going off about the same thing and told them “Either go back to your table or leave the restaurant.” Needless to say i’m never coming back here again.

Attached to Om Sabor, the drinks here are well thought out. Happy hour is great too. Stop here before visiting the symphony!

We went to this trendy bar because of the vegan food which was absolutely delicious. The staff were very friendly and it had a very laid back vibe. The cocktails were good too.

This place is pretty narrow, so it gets packed/busy quick, especially after shows at SFJazz or the Symphony. However, I really like this spot. The music selection is fantastic [a lot of funk, jazz, soul, etc.] and the cocktail menu is very strong. Bonus points for the Prince symbol on one of the bathroom doors.

Dont be fooled, this isnt just any bar. It has one of the best vegetarian menus Ive experienced. Tacos, Parmesan fries and slider were all great.

Stopped in here Wednesday evening, when I came into town and had an old fashioned with rye whiskey - price was reasonable (average cocktail price, I think) but a good sized drink and well put together and nice music (e.g. the phonobar) - staff is friendly and welcoming - definitely a place to come back to or try if you are new to the area. :-)

Great low key bar with a chill dark backroom. Good DJ and music. Various expert cocktails . Must check it out if you enjoy that sort of atmosphere. Lots of influence from the theater, opera, ballet.

My first experience wasn’t too awesome as even though there was two bartenders it took them 20 min to make each drink. However, the company was awesome so I made sure to order ahead of time. Had my 2nd visit today and the bartender tells me I can’t enter with my scooter even though it folds. ‘It’s a building policy.’ Maybe they should consider posting a sign. Can’t say I will be going a third time and will be redirecting my party to other venues without ridiculous ‘policies.’

One of the few places that feels like a bar in Hayes valley, but has mediocre acoustics that make a decent amount of the area difficult to have a conversation. The cocktails arent bad but are on the sweeter side.

I did not enter the establishment to write this review. Reason for that is that I was asked for a $20 entrance fee at 10 PM to enter, a very small narrow bar/restaurant. This is not how you attract a crowd. This isnt an exclusive clientele and they are not a club. Absolutely ridiculous entry fee. If they get rid of that I would try it out again.

Really cool and comfortable vibe, the music is always top notch. Its a little pricey for the quality of the food and drinks, but the service is good.

Great little neighbourhood bar thats cozy. Theres a small room great for bigger groups or alternatively ample seating near the bar by the window. Clean and friendly service - great spot for grabbing a drink after work

Soundsytem too quiet, drowned out by drunk folk, sound is good as advertised though. Top atmosphere. The tables by the dance floor need to go though.

Nice bar, super chill vibe, awesome sound system in the back although its kind of cramped back there and the neighbors require that the sound remain at semi sedate levels.

Very slow service. Went on a Saturday night at around 11, not too busy. About 3 people ahead of me at the bar, still took 25 min to get a meh cocktail.
