I would give this place negative stars if I could. I felt AGGRESSIVELY unwelcome. My friends and I met after work Friday as we were excited to find a place with happy hour pricing. The restaurant itself looks great. Very classy and stylish decor. The drinks were bad (at least the $5 wells) and the food was mediocre bar food (not on HH).The service we received was actively bad. We waited quite some time to be welcomed - though we were nearly the only patrons in the restaurant. The prices we were quoted for HH as well as the published menu prices were actually not what we were charged. We were charged more when we got our bill.Several times I had to get up and walk to the bar to order a drink or even to pay the bill. When our server did stop by our table, she spent as little time as possible, had a lot of attitude, and made all 5 of us feel extremely unwelcome— to an extent I have never felt at another restaurant. It was so bad I wish I hadn’t tipped anything.
1st time getting out here. Place was fun and chill. Beer and the food were both great. Good spot to be at with a good view of the ocean!
Antonio and his team provided five-star service & attentiveness during our Super Bowl party. They made us feel incredibly welcome and ensured our experience was unforgettable. Their smiling faces & genuine hospitality truly elevated the event. Highly recommend!Having visited Jimmy O’s 3 times now, I can confidently say it’s the perfect spot for happy hours, special events, birthdays, and business functions. The atmosphere is always welcoming, the service exceptional, and the experience memorable. Again, highly recommended for any occasion!
Jimmy Os is a great local spot that is a big hit with the Del Mar Heights Dads Club. I have had a number of dishes here over the years and as far as bar food goes, the place is top notch. I generally order wings, they change flavors from time to time, but every time my food was perfect. I was a bit sad to see the Blackened Wings pulled from the menu, but I imagine that dish is tough to manage for the large influx of palettes that come in and out of Jimmy Os.Now for the more important stuff, part of what makes this place great is the awesome staff. Jenna is as good as it gets, you will not get similar service anywhere else... Always smiling, an incredible memory, and her kind demeanor just makes this place worth the trip. The food from my last visit was so good that my mouth is watering right now thinking about the wings. So, lets rate:Honey Sriracha Wings 5/5Blackened Wings 5/5 (no longer available)Ice Cold Beer 5/5Service 5/5They no longer serve my previous favorite West Coast IPA from Green Flash Brewery, but the Elysian Space Dust IPA that replaced it is quite good, highly recommend.
Great local spot to have a good time- really enjoyed the new house music day party on Sundays. Also has one of the best burgers you can find at a bar!
Stay away from this place. The bartenders get wasted and then pay other customers tabs with your credit card. Then they literally gave my card to someone else while trying to find my card. So then that customer pays their tab with my card and leaves with my credit card. Pay cash and by the drink here.
Im old enough to consume alcohol, the security guy saw it and was rude. I explained to him how to read it and he told me you dont have to tell me how to do it in a disrespectful way. If you think you are rude, do things right. Because it was something unfair, I cant even believe it in 2024
I havent been here in a while but last time I was here a few years ago it was nothing but old creepy guys. This time it was all ages, completely packed, everyone dancing! So much fun... Just wish this place was bigger because it was shoulder to shoulder. They should think about opening that front entrance area into more of standing room!! One of the only places to dance in Del Mar so it was fun!
It has good music for late night dancing on a Saturday night. But bar service inexplicably slow with three bartenders and only about 40 people there.
Sat in front of the bar in front of the bartender...( barbie looking broad) asked everyone that was behind me if they wanted something except me...dont let my beautiful brown skin turn you a way girl. My first time there and Im not coming back, went to the bathroom and left. Didnt make a scene since I was alone, probably get lynched, like the Newport beach folk say. if you are white you are all right🤣
Really great dive. Had fun but fell asleep in the Uber on the way home, drinks are strong
I’m from out of town but am in SD once a month or so. The bar I frequented up in Solana Beach closed down so I thought I’d give Jimmy O’s a try. I’m not a “clubgoer” and I’m not into the DJ scene but I do like a chill place to grab lunch and have a couple beers. I was there on a Saturday and they had maybe half a dozen TV’s over the bar all with college football on. Got the wings and they were great. Bartender and the manager were super cool, good vibe, good service, good prices and in an awesome location. I’ll be back.
I grew up in Del Mar and Jimmy Os has always been a fun destination, I like to pop in for a drink and some people watching, karaoke, or maybe dancing on a weekend. But Ive had several unpleasant experiences on my last few visits... Every time a man who I was told is the owner was going on political rants and making insulting comments about people in the bar within earshot of us. On our most recent visit it was karaoke night and he was being rowdy and kept skipping everyone elses songs so that he could keep singing and filming himself. It got to the point that my group decided to leave because we couldnt participate and werent having fun. I am bummed out that an old local spot has these bad vibes and wont be back any time soon.
I would give this place 0 stars if possible. Filled with creepy old men trying to prey on younger women. Witnessed a bouncer the owners called their best employee physically assault 2 women with no repercussions from management. Owners were intoxicated and provided no help with solving the matter. Will be pressing charges.
I used to frequent Jimmy Os before it changed management. The new owner loudly asserts divisive political opinions, insults patrons openly, and makes hateful comments about people that dont agree with him. I feel unsafe in this establishment and am not comfortable returning.Further, Jimmy Os used to have good DJs who knew how to get people dancing, but since changing ownership, the bar books amateurs who completely kill the vibe in the establishment.
Went on a Wednesday night. The owners were there. So friendly. The drinks were really good. Very excited for the next chapter of this legendary bar. They said they are remodeling. Cant wait to see what they have going for the future 🙌🏽
Really great staff, bartenders are friendly and quick to ring you up. The security are cool and very quick to handle nuisances. The DJ that was there Sunday 05SEP2021 was a huge disappointment to say the least but I hope that it was a one time thing because every other DJ has been great. Food was great and the prices for food/drinks is fairly priced considering the area, I was expecting to feel it the day after. Restrooms are pretty well kept 👌.
Great atmosphere with great karaoke hosts. Unfortunately, at the moment, they have zero food options and said they wont be offering food until April at the earliest. Its not a place to eat but you can get drunk and sing your heart out.
A dive bar out in the middle of nowhere, serving your typical beer and simple cocktails. Not a place Id normally go to, but all that is open in the area late on a Friday night. If you absolutely need a drink but cant find a place, then go. It gets crowded and not easy to order a drink.
So glad we stopped by to have dinner and watch the game. The bartenders were very welcoming and made the best cocktails we had in town, while the salad and mushroom philly (both vegetarian options) were excellent as well. This was a highlight on our vacation and we look forward to returning!
DJs need to pay attention to the crowd. If people stop dancing and start leaving, then youre screwing up. The DJs are killing the vibe so the place isnt fun anymore.
The food was excellent! The waitress was pleasant and did the best she could. There was one waitress running every table in the packed restaurant. 2 people working behind the bar, which seemed overkill compared to the amount of people seated there. The person I assume was the manager didnt lift a finger to help her either. She waited & bussed all the tables, nobody else so much as refilled drinks. Made for a long wait.
I recently visited this place, and it was absolutely perfect! I had such a fantastic time during my visit. The atmosphere was wonderful, and I thoroughly enjoyed my experience.
Like a port in a storm, Jimmy O’s offered shelter (great drinks) when in a dire need. When one finds themselves suffocating by the over stuffiness of Del Mar, dare I say the portentousness, of north county, Jimmy O’s offers honest drinks by honest people. Self realized, self actualized, and most importantly, happy to hang, this place rocks.
Had a cheddar burger, perfectly cook medium. Super delicious bun. Waffle fries were cold but well seasoned. Friendly atmosphere and staff...would definitely go back...best food prices in the entire area for sure.
Excellent atmosphere and BBQ. Great bartender served me a couple of well made cocktails and BBQ tri-tip with Texas toast. They have a Cajun portion of their menu that I havent had a chance to try yet!
Only stayed 5 minutes. Not the place for me.
This place is becoming worse and worse. Who are now the current owners? Anyone know.? Very unfortunate to see this place place to go down like this..I heard a rumor that other places ...ex., nearby Monarch also becomig little racist restaurants of how they treat some customers. Goood to have back restaurant @ jimmyos to save delmar junction from loosing its charm..
Worst bar service ever- did they even really work there? Additionally, three questionable characters were talking about rufi-ing females. Be aware!
Awful place to relax with drink and best food! Also best Salsa dancers! Best DJ!
*Night Life* Jimmy O’s is a sleeper. Never been here during the day, but if you were to walk by you’d think it was nothing more than a dive bar. That said, at night it turns into a nightclub. Some of the best people-watching you can imagine. If you’re looking to get rowdy or bust a few dance moves on a Fri/Sat, this is about the only place to go that isn’t downtown. They’ve even got booths with bottle service.
Its good. sometimes it gets crowded. but when it gets crowded it is still good. but it is kind of expensive. but even when you pay too much, it is still very good. i got the salmon and i wasnt mad at all. my friend got swordfish and he wasnt mad at all. i dont know anyone who was upset by theyre meal. so.
Great place to eat and hang out, by far one best places in the area thats open later than others!
While the pastrami sandwich was good I resent paying $10.00 for a pint of Coors light. The bartender intimated the prices were raised for the track season.Wont go back.
Bad service, overpriced, rude managers. We chose this spot for an afterparty and were given shady information throughout the booking process, charged $800 for 2 bottles of grey goose (after ordering from a menu without prices), and then charged mandatory gratuity for an overall bad experience. Wont be coming back and would not recommend this establishment.
As a sports bar, its great. A full wall of TVs and great selection of beer. Its also in a great location. But if youre looking for food, Id go elsewhere. The Sriracha-honey wings are okay, but slightly dry. The tri-tip entree lacked flavor. A simple salt and pepper dry rub wouldve been fine, but it didnt have even that. There are much better food options that will also have TVs and beer.
Great, unique spot in the middle of downtown Del Mar. Good food and good drinks for good prices. A little sleepy during the day, but really comes alive at night with an all-adult-ages crowd. A lot of fun.
A local favorite and one of the few places in Del Mar to relax and watch a game with new-found friends. Most days it is casual and relaxed, but Fri/Sat nights are standing room only and at your peril. Food menu is a solid step above typical bar food, but not cheap.
I had fun dancing, the owner , was very, nice ! And would definitely, go back, next time I am sitting down for lunch, to try the menu, I love fish tocos.
Great discovery! We were looking for Bullys-all gone. I had a cheeseburger and sweet potato fries and hubby had Philadelphia cheesesteak. Well be back!
Its the only place to dance without paying a cover in N County worth going to - Do not drink and drive, period when leaving this place as the cops are vigilant- I always see people getting pulled over and in trouble late at night. It gets 5 stars only because it delivers a consistent product- if you dont want to go downtown to the Gaslamp or to Hillcrest/ Adams settle for this place if you live up here- its OK to be of a certain age, but its primarily a gathering place for well heeled locals and the 25 and up crowd, with a large percentage of 30s and 40s. Lots of couples.
I have never been here yet, but do plan to go for Karaoke, was told to me by my co worker at work that Jimmy Os is a cool place from 9pm to 2am. So I will have the food and thanks for the tacos and Nachos idea. I will check it out when my schedule is free. I will probably do this every alteranated Monday. This is way closer to me than Mr. Peabodys. I was told that the DJ was trained by a professional at the other place. She has a binder of Songs, I am old School and most of those songs I would remember. So I hope to check it out sometime this week.
Fabulous!! The female waiters are the best in town. Super attentive and very intelligent. Always know what you want and what you need. Janna is awesome!!!! Peace love. Always recommend!!! GO JANNA. EVERYONE I have sent says you are the best!!
Claim on one website no one over 30 should go but its all over 30s. Mostly guys and bartenders really have no energy probably because of the amount of over 30 out of town guys and small amount of stuck up girls. Food was average and tab was medium to high. Personal space is ignored but to be expected. Average
Local spot with great food, full bar, beer, wine, plenty of TVs to watch your favorite sports (football, baseball, hockey, soccer, etc.). This place is pretty big inside. They take all the dining tables & bar stools out at night and turn that area into a dance floor with a live DJ on weekends.
Really nice cozy spot. DJ played good music when they started the upstairs club. Philly cheese steak was food and the waffle fries were amazing.
My friends and I went to the races last week and were looking for a good place to eat. Googled what was in the area and thought this might be a good place. Was it ever. When we walked up, it looked more like a club, than a restaurant, and the bouncer wasnt too eager to accomidate our need for food. Then another man walks up and directs us up the stairs to throught the side door. As opposed to making us squeeze throught the sea of partygoers (thank you). Once we are in we are directed to a cozy little spot upstairs where a DJ is playing. Not only were we made to feel like VIPs in the place, the food and the music was absolutely wonderful. The drinks were pretty good too, and the prices were VERY reasonable. Later someone told us that was the owner, but we didnt confirm that. I would definitely recommend this place, and will be back.
We went there to watch the UFC fights that were FREE on FS1, being that it is a SPORTS Bar. We ordered a round of drinks, 2 plates of food, and met another group that was there to watch the fights. The owner refused to play the fights. He was afraid of offending people. When you looked around there were many people just chatting and not interested in watch any of the multiple TVs they had going. He said he’d rather comp my tab then play the fights. We would’ve sat there for 2+ hours and racked up a tab. I have never been to a bar that refused to play a sport. Especially from multiple paying customers. Figures this would happen in California.
Great atmosphere, all ages are welcomed, music is great, Keith is an excellent host! The bottle service was a great deal and our server wad nice!
If you are looking at the picture of the pilly cheese steak you will be Sorely disapointed. Their only option is a mushroom sandwich with Cheddar cheese. Which taste good, but it is not philly. Wrong bread, wrong peppers, wrong cut onions, wrong cheese, no meat. It is one thing to Offer a veggie option but only a mushroom optiong no meat wrong cheese and everyrhing else. It was a good tasting sanwich, just not a pihlly.Bar Tender (heart shaped glasses) and bar excellent. Her twist on a mojito was excelent 10/10 but the philly 0/10 mushroom or tri tip. Fries were medium good
The owner of this place is an ASSHAT.Very disrespectful towards children and very against people of opposing viewpoints.I will never go there again.
Ten dollars for a draft beer on a Sunday afternoon. Way overpriced. I will never go there again. No wonder this dump was empty.
All the times I have been here it has been a goof experience... Last time was during a game time and the inside seatings were all full... This time we got inside seats... I had the pleasure of getting the same server from last time and was shocked to see even after almost 4 months since my last visit, she remembered me... Rachel is a really amicable server always with a jovial smile... With her around, it just seems quite easy for you to judge on dishes...They have some worth noting varieties of ciders... If you do like them, you should check it out...This time we had the fish and chips and the veg pasta with onion rings and sweet potato fries on the table... Pasta as last time was great... Both onion rings and the sweet potato fries were superb and I recommend that as a must have when you come here...
Older crowd, really fun.
This place needs to be closed down! They do not card and serve alcohol to minors. Not to mention the scum of people that go there. The prostitution going on is rediculious... This place WILL be sued soon enough and I will be very happy when this happens. I know too many minors drinking there and getting into accidents. Close it!!!!
Best Customer service Ever!!! And outstanding Bartenders who genuinely care and go above and beyond for their guest. Id give them a 1,000 stars if I had the choice ❤🤟❤
Best spot in Del Mar village area bar none. Depending on the day of the week there is a crowd for everyone. Mellow to sporty to energetic, this place has vibes to cater to everyones needs.
A fantastic club with great service. Felicia was a great server and made sure our bottle never went empty. I love this place and will definitely be back again.
Bartender was super nice, drinks were good, food was ok. Prices were average. Crowd was fun, pretty view outside, bathroom and parking were inconvenient. I would return for happy hour.
Felt like I was in the Gaslamp rather than one of my local, neighborhood hangouts in SD. Go to Latchkey, Aero Club, NuNus, Inside Out or Merrow. The drinks r stronger and half the price!
Went here on a wensday 10pm as a Dodgers fan order a don julio with coke half a shot for $13 no way nachos for $9 + $5 for steak little as plate sausege environment lol few gurls never coming there again going to the smash house
Fun place to grab a couple of drinks with friends. Had very upbeat music and great customer service. I loved being able to get up and dance with my friends.
This place is awsome. It has great TVs for sports great sound system for the late night dance party and surprisingly good food served by friendly and attractive wait staff.
The staff are nice, they want you there. The crowd seems a mix of 21 year olds and middle aged. Overall its just ok.
Always love Jimmy Os. Ill never forget Jimmy when we surfed together with his brother Michael before Lu Garigs desease progressed rapidly. He was an inspiration to hard work, and dedication at Yogis!
Great neighborhood bar vibe. Old school style that is somehow refreshing compared to all the more standard fare. Fish tacos are great!
Staff very efficient and friendlyFood very plain. Burgers were very tasteless.I would guess by look and taste that the meat is frozen not fresh.
Absolutely classic Del Mar experience. Been coming here for years and it’s always been a blast.
Staff, waitresses, bartender were excellent. DJ at night was horrible, did not have an idea of rhythm, genres etc.
A little slow at happy hour but good service and food!
Chill place, good location. Free street parking. Also the burger didnt cost an arm and a leg, and still tasted pretty good.
Completely ignored. Usually a great spot, but terrible. Shouldnt have to sit at a table for 30 minutes with no acknowledgement
Went for the Sunday brunch. Food is decent for the price. Good spot to catch all the NFL games at 10am.
Never really had a bad time there. But watch out for the curbs they are high and not judged very well in heels and if been drinking..
When will this place go out of business? Theyve defied logic so far... its always dead, the food is marginal at best and yes they have TVs but... thats the draw?
From JJ McGuires to Jimmy Os..... Keith has created a DM piece of history. Food is always great and the alcohol works!
So-so bar food. Pricy drinks. Not a true dive bar but a tourist trap disguised as a dive bar. Kept a tab open and bought a few drinks for others and ended up with a $360 bar bill.
Great Atmosphere Place! Love to meet my friends here.
Great place, great people, home like vibe, loved it.. and happy hour on the weekend, 2 to 5 i think, great nachos, great tacos
They really need to get rid of the kid cartoons in a bar 5 flat screens and 3 were cartoons at 11 p.m. kind of different and weird but overall not too bad
Excellent service and Fun place but be careful with your $400 bottle next table may drink when you are not at the table😊
Owner is a real piece of work. Nice truck though
What an awesome place. .. just like being in a down town night club. .. excellent kereoke and one time I met David spade there
This place is small but so much fun! Great bartenders & music!
NFL games galore on the screens. Good bar food. Friendly vibe. Watch out for street parking. They enforce!
Great place, super fun, been here many times!
If you are looking for a sports bar to grab a beer and some good ole greasy bar food, then this is the place for you. The view of the ocean is an added bonus.
Great location, staff awesome. Some of the clients should have been cut off 5 drinks earlier!!!
Had a blast singing and listening to others. Great service and atmosphere.
Dark wide open bar with lots of space and a ton of big screen TVs. First rate Guinness and cool bartenders
Music is very good. DJ knows what hes doing. Place is packed with lots of young testosterone
This place is so cool on a fri or sat night. If you can get a room next door it will make your night.
The service was good, the atmosphere too but I asked for a coke and the waitress brought me a Pepsi saying that it was a coke.
I have been coming here off and on for 9 yrs. Always a great night!!
Seems like a nice place. I learned the hard way that its too loud for an informal business meeting of any kind!
Crappy drinks, creepy people, small floor space with nowhere to sit unless you pay for bottle service, subpar music.
Great staff. Only had a few items on menu, everything has been great so far.
Small but fun, good atmosphere, drinks a little pricey but to be expected for Del Mar
Great vibe and fun Staff! Cool hole in the wall bar for Del Mar.
I like coming to this place.. but who ever this new DJ.... isnt good compared to the DJ that was there last year.. but would recommend this place
Great crowd, kick back atmosphere, music is suspect, but dj tried his best.
Definitely off vibe from North County, with young gold diggers and cougars alike....good place and Dj Decon is a god
This place is an awesome place to go watch the game fantastic TVs viewing from every seat the food was really good and the the service was pretty good
Great little bar in Del Mar. Had a great time even on a Thursday night.
Nice location with small outside eating facing sunsets and inside eating. Food was average and prices fair.
A great place to hang out and watch sports. The fish and chips is also good.
Fun place to hang out. Has pool tables and shuffle board. Pretty laid back place.
Favorite bar since i moved here in 2012. Great staff and a go-to spot for locals and sports.
The customer service is outstanding! We really enjoyed our evening at Jimmy Os
Good food and great people. Had a great time talking to two of the staff
Very chill vibe, not pretentious at all. Margaritas and tacos are cheap and good
Good atmosphere, friendly staff, open till 2am which is rare for Del Mar.
Great bar food! The best drinks in town!!! And the cheapest :)
Good place to watch sports, food was not great, even on a bar food rating scale.
Bartender was really nice and made a great bloody mary!
This satisfies my need for a good bar with good bar food and bartenders. Always a nice getaway for a few pops!
Amazing service and great atmosphere! Definatelly worth it, would recommend 10 our of 10.
Love this place! Great drinks, great service, great atmosphere!
Great burgers and theater-quality speakers 🔊
Way too crowded and the place is really dirty. Feels sticky everywhere I set my glass down. Wont be going back here.
Great place to watch games. Many big screen TVs. Food is ok.
Awesome music but straight up cougar bar. The bar gets aggressive after midnight
Not the best service but ok, touch for glass of house wine $10..omg..
Love their burgers! try to sit outside and enjoy the food and ambiance!
Awesome little beach bar, good food, drinks and affordable!
Old school bar and grill turns into an off the chain night club! Jimmy Os is the new age meets old school!
Turns into a nightclub at night, great option in Del Mar
Great drinks, great food, & big screens to watch the game!
$40 cover, are you guys high? It’s Del Mar, not Vegas.
A lot of fun the food was great and the atmosphere was very fun
Friendly staff, great food and good atmosphere.
Owner was awesome. Place was amazing.
Small spot, but has great music and service.
We have been there for our friends BD, 🍻 was great
