Everything was great except the food. I ordered the chicken and it smelled at least a day old. The best thing was the Alfredo (ironically). The drinks were good and the waiter was very accommodating. But the food was mediocre especially when compared to the atmosphere. The same way they decorate needs to be the same way they cook.
Coming in, we were told it was $10 for the valet service, then parked at a McDonalds parking lot! It was confusing and unsettling as we could have just parked there and felt we had been scammed. Doors opened at 12:10, mind you; our reservation was for noon, and it was pouring outside. No service was provided to any guest until seen inside, and thats a bad business practice to allow your customers to be rained on while waiting for your doors to open, especially since they should have been opened, to begin with! 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗸𝘀, the food was well seasoned with various options including breakfast, lunch, and dinner, all Dominican, all at noon. Our drink choices were Rum Punch and Mimosa. I feel that the Mimosa was watered down to the point where youd get full on water than drink enough to feel a buzz, and the Rum Punch was too sweet that I could feel a headache forming while drinking it. When the bill arrived, I noticed the server combined the bill of the table next to ours, which was sketchy. 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗮𝗶𝗱, I had a good time, and I think the $45 is a good deal for the experience received. If I were to go again, Id steer clear from valet and maybe sneak in a shot or two from home!𝗦𝗜𝗗𝗘 𝗡𝗢𝗧𝗘: It is a Major problem and a red flag for a business to insult and push aside any concern from its patrons. Please reconsider how you approach a customers questions or criticism toward the service provided!
I just want to share what a wonderful time I had at MamaJuanas Paterson today. I went with a bunch of my girlfriends to celebrate our friends birthday and this was the first time back since before Covid. The food was amazing, the staff was very cordial and attentive and the music was NOT loud as before. Very different from before Covid times. The new management has made a difference and I will def be back. Gino, the new manager was the best! Ive never seen that kind of service at that restaurant He was very nice and approachable and didnt mind taking 50 pictures of us. He also gifted us a bottle of champagne for the birthday girl! So if you want eat good food, have a good time, drink lots of mimosas then this place is for you.
Excellent food and friendly service. The prices are fair. I gave 4 stars for the atmosphere because they have a good DJ with not much room for dancing. The hostess asked us if we wanted to sit near the balcony since it was going to be loud for conversation and we appreciated her input!
The atmosphere is GREAT , the vibe is GREAT. The service is AMAZING, our waiter was very attentive we were very impressed .. The food is DELICIOUS, fresh. Everyone was very friendly. This place is a GEM. We are definitely coming back. Cant wait to bring our family and friends. LOVE IT!!
The place was great. The food was absolutely amazing the hostess was the most beautiful Dominican woman I think I’ve ever seen and all the waitresses were absolutely stunning to look at. Mamajuana has a Latin sushi category on the menu and aside from being absolutely genius as a concept it was extremely delicious. All of the food was great, and the hookah was good too king of pricey but your smoking hookah at a restaurant so you should expect to pay. Hookah we for 35 plus tip and 20$ each refill. That had to be paid on the spot not added to your bill. It really didn’t bother me because I went expecting to spend money for my wife’s birthday. Altogether the experience was great and I’m glad I went there. The only reason they lost 1 star is because the music is indeed too loud to even have a conversation but aside front that it was great!!
Great place for dinner and friendly cocktails. Service was friendly and professional. Outdoor sitting is a huge plus for the summer.Hookah available. The DJ was awesome too but a little bit loud.My server, Lizandro, was very professional, well-tempered, and had quick responses. If you get him, you are guaranteed to have a great night.
Overrated and over pricedAbout 35 of my coworkers and I came here for an our end of the work week happy hour and to celebrate a birthday. The atmosphere/ live DJ is the only positive thing about this place. I should’ve know the food was terrible when the people that were outside smoking told me I’m better off getting McDonald’s across the parking lot. I order 3 pork tacos and chicken wings. When my tacos came it was 3 different tacos, fish, steak and chicken. I took one bite of the steak taco and the steak had bones and cartilage in it, I almost cracked my tooth on it. If you want to order a drink from the bartender be prepared to wait at least 5 minutes. Make sure to go over your bill and the bartenders tried to over charge me and my coworkers. Lastly the Hookah here which is the main reason we came here was absolutely terrible and a scam. It’s $35 for a hookah, we ordered 2 of them. The hookah I kid you not didn’t even last us ten minutes. They only put one small tiny coal on the top and after a couple of pulls it becomes very harsh. Even after we told the staff they just shrugged their shoulders at us. There are much better places out there. Also the review before mine about the woman throwing the straws at the bartender, we all witnessed that as well and she was in the right because of how they treated her. Very unprofessional from your staff.
It was a girls night and my friend picked this spot. When I arrived there was valet for $10 which I didnt want to do so I found street parking nearby. At the door they took IDs and temperatures. I liked the set up and how they kept it social distanced and it was Halloween decorated. They wouldnt seat us til at least 3/4 of our party arrived. We chose to sit outside and they had a pretty decent crowd. We were served by a really nice guy, I didnt get his name. They allowed us to do separate checks and gratuity was included. I didnt eat but I had a nice drink called jack punch and it felt like I was on the islands. The girls enjoyed their food and drinks but one of them had undercooked calamari so she had to send it back. The second batch wasnt seasoned enough so she has to add salt. The managers also helped out with the table and they were so nice and attentive. All in all we had a pretty good experience.
Very chic, modern environment and decor with traditional accents mixed in for contrast.Warm and dim lighting to create a cozy and relaxing environment.Service was exemplary, especially by my waiter Omar. He was consistent and was very attentive and accommodating.Food was good. The chiveche was fresh and, although Ive had better versions, it was good. The meat skewers were seasoned lightly and there was no need for the accompanying dipping sauce as you would want to taste the natural flavors of the grilled meats themselves. The Paella was the standout of this culinary experience. It tasted better than the ones made by the originators of the dish -the real Spaniards of Spain. Flavor of the seasoning was apparent in every mouthful. The Branzino fish was also prepared well and the chef let the natural taste of the fish shine.Desserts were average and nothing to write home about.Overall a welcoming and good eating and social experience for the diner.
We celebrated a friend’s birthday here on December 30th. Upon arrival, the valet parked my car which was a small price to pay ($10) for a peace of mind as you are likely to get towed. Upon entering the establishment I was welcome by a nice young lady at the front desk who may had been the manager (I did not catch her name) but she also had a table reversed for us. We initially hung out at the bar as we were waiting on the whole party to arrive before going to our table. We grabbed a few drinks and appetizers at the bar. Once we got to our table, we realized we need a bigger table as we had more heads than we initially anticipated however the lady again did not hesitate to get as a bigger table at all. Our server Ronaldo was also amazing, he made sure everything was on point. I tried their wings, their CHICHARRONES DE CERDO which is the fried pork belly, CHICHARRONES DE POLLO (fried chunks of chicken) and for my entree I had the CHURRASCO FRITES which is Grilled skirt steak w/chimichurri & demi-glaze, served with yuca fries however I substituted the yuca fries for white rice, red beans and some fried plantains. The steak was very well seasoned and flavored. Great atmosphere and people and amazing music. We ended up catching the rest of the game at the bar before leaving. I can honestly say a great time was had, from the lady at the front desk, to the crew at the bar, Ronaldo and the valet, I will highly recommend this establishment and definitely plan to revisit in the near future.
Low quality over priced rip off food i am one sad dominican after this EDIT : OK i am negative nancy? I have only left 3 reviews in my entire life, when i felt was truly necessary lol. You think i write a review every time i go out? Your logic is truly questionable lol, Let me just embarrass you right here with photos of what you served. I got GUACAMOLE CARIBEÑO i was given maybe 12 pieces of OLD STALE tortilla chips and clearly obviously prepackaged processed store bought guacamole. 3 little tostones and the cheese was small , old and cold it tasted a little sour and dry which you can see how dry it is in the photo...i paid $10 for expired tasting old cold food , not to mention the portion, are you kidding me? The 3 EMPANADAS for $9 as you can see i got two and a half, these were for my boyfriend and he said they were so dry and tasted so bad he literally threw it out the window of his car and shortly after got sick from biting each one. You should be ashamed of yourself and learn to improve with feedback, instead of being a defensive patronizing fool. No wonder it was so dead when i walked in on a saturday at 10pm, truly embarrassing, i hope your business does not fail and i hope you learn something, cognitive dissonance doesnt look good on you.
I’ve visited this place a couple of times, the first time was horrible, it was on my birthday. I asked what was on the dish I was ordering, he stated nothing I was allergic to, I proceeded to inform him anyways just in case as anyone with an allergy should do. The server seemed very sure that I was fine. To my surprise being that this place is super dark I couldn’t see what was on my little mofongitos, I started to eat a whole one being that they’re so small, finished.. was talking with my table and I started getting hives on my face, neck, hands etc. and other symptoms. So everyone started to panic because we weren’t sure how it was caused. ( waiter said my dish didn’t come with It. )I decided to put a flashlight from my phone on it and there it was on one of the mofongos but not on one of them. My table immediately started panicking, one friend when to the car to see if they had Benedryl, another went to go look for our server who was constantly disappearing and wouldn’t come back for a while. They found security instead and rushed them to find a manager. Our server appears no exaggeration SEVEN minutes later, by himself no manager present. He apologizes and said he didn’t know it came with it, etc. He asked me if I wanted anther order without what I’m allergic to, I said sure ( my friend luckily did have Benedryl ). He comes back 20 minutes later apologizing again.. that he didn’t realize that the food could not come without that ingredient........... my friend all ate their food and I was starving. I told him to just forget it at this point. Just to bring us the check. Nobody was in the mood to wait any longer for anything else. When the check arrived the food that gave me an allergic reaction was on the bill even with everything that just happened. My Friends informed the server that we wouldn’t not be paying for my meal so if you could just take it off the bill, the server then realizes and apologizes and says he will speak to his manager so he could take it off. He did when he returned about another 15 minutes. That was that experience for my birthday. Now to my best friends birthday, we just went again and the music was great spanish throwbacks, a really good selection Sunday night about DJs were greattttt!! The food was AMAZING!! Love me some really good Dominican food... especially some steak, Rice, and beans. All of our friends enjoyed their dishes as well nobody complain about the food at all. I let my server none of my allergies he told me what dishes came with and what dishes came without. I will say that we did order some thing, and it took about 30 minutes to arrive but I wasn’t food it was a hookah, so we weren’t really upset but it was kind of annoying that it arrived right after our food so space on the table was very limited. Other than that our only complaint was that our server this time was alsooo taking forever and disappearing all the time, we had to order our drinks several times with a female server from a different section but was always on top of everything at all of her tables so we kindly asked if she could find our server and she took our order and I guess kept passing it along to our server. When we all went to the bathroom we discovered our server leaning over the bar chatting laughing with the bartenders and the rest of the servers that were not tending to their tables. I don’t necessarily believe it was super serious but you should be able to check on your tables more before leaning on the bar chatting it up with your coworkers who should be doing the same and not neglecting the guests.
It was OK. The guacamole was exciting to see but disappointing as the main dish was nowhere to be found. They laid on so many pieces of Plantains and chips and forgot the actual guac! Drinks were ok, not impressed with a simple margaritas drink. The specialty was much more appealing and tasted better. The chicken empanadas could use some added flavoring. I was shocked it wasnt as good as the rest of its trio accompanies. I decided not to order dinner to avoid further disappointment. I would return to give it another try, it might be a Wednesday night slow pace thing. Im hoping they dont disappoint again. The fopd presentation is spectacular!!
It was my first time there and it was honestly very nice place ! Very chill nice music and yes it’s very loud so it’s hard to have conversations but it was still great. Servers were very nice and friendly and food was good . I’m deff coming back only downside is no parking so if you park somewhere bad you will be towed. And table seating is only for 2 hours .
The service was awesome. The DJ was awesome too, but a little bit loud.My server, Lizandro, was very professional and very friendly. 100% recommended
A place that sells it as 4.5 stars but nothing to see, they only sell you a name... the service is bad, the food is average, dont expect much quality, its one of those places that only expect you to spend your money on nothing. We are in 2024 but we are still in the time of the Indians exchanging mirrors for gold... an assault without a gun
I should have known something was up when right when I sat down a lady came over me and was cursing at the bartender and threw straws at him , where he cursed her out and told her to shut the **** up , but whatever I thought that was funny , then I got the food and drinks which were fine no complaints , but when I got my bill I noticed he tried to add extra drinks that were never given or ordered , then when I caught he was trying to scam me I told him and he argued with my girlfriend , when I tried to speak he kept saying let me talk to her cos she spoke Spanish but she just spoke perfect English the whole night , I had to argue with him , he brought back a bill that was one dollar more , you can’t be serious I had him call over his other friend and had to go over the bill again at this time I was very angry. So if you want good and drinks but also don’t mind trying to get scammed for extra money then this is the place for you. Def would never return and please check your bills.
Decent place. Had several beers and an appetizer at the bar. They added 18% to the bill which I hate. However when I tip a bartender for drinks it always comes out to about 25% or more. Say $1 or $2 dollar on average on a $4 beer. So instead of being pissed, I gave them the 18% although they would have gotten more if I figured a tip myself. I know latins are the worst tippers so they need to add. Its Paterson lets face it. The clientele is probably cheap and dont tip well.
Great and amazing food love the flavors of the Dominican rice it was tasty i had the plantain bowls with shrimp brisket and chicken it was soo good. The drinks was nice and it was pretty chill vibe for a monday evening
I love this restaurant. The food was delicious and the service was excellent thanks to Lizandro. He was extremely professional and answered all my questions about the menu !
Wasnt a bad place to have brunch food wasnt bad either, its more vegetarian options than vegan, however was still good.
We celebrated our best friends birthday and we had a great time. We loved that it was empty on a weekday. The waiter could have been a little more mindful and checked on us a little more often to see if we needed something; however, he was nice and provided good service. The food was absolutely delicious. The sushi and churrasco was so so good. I can’t wait to come back. The red sangria was also very good- we ordered 2 pitchers. Definitely a spot to celebrate a birthday, date night etc && they serve hookah!!! I can’t wait to come back.
Showed up last minute no reservations for Sunday brunch. The staff was very accommodating. The service was great and the food was amazing and tasty. Overall a great brunch experience. Island rhythms and home cooking.
Was looking for a place to go celebrate my wifes birthday and we usually go to the Mamajuana near us but for today we wanted to head to a different one. So we went as a party of 6, the service was not on par with the other locations my server was nowhere to be seen for half of our duration, but what I was really disappointed about was the fact that we were all drinking mimosas and not one of us felt like they has alcohol. For the price of $45 per person, youd expect to tales be served mimosas with alcohol, which we believe was not the case, also to our disappointment was the fact that they did not have any platanos, tostones, but at least they had mangu. There are better places than this spot for brunch and will not be returning here for a second time.
DJ takes way too much on the mic . Valet parking was 10 dollars for no reason . Mimosas were trash . I wouldn’t come here . You’re better going to noches de Colombia …
I visited the restaurant for a comedy show and to try the food. From the moment we enter I felt the nasty attitude from the hostess and security guard as if they were the owner of the restaurant or they were unhappy of working there. The food might be at 2 1/2 star. But I am not able to give you the correct rating of it because from the moment my dinner got to my table I could not escape a couple next to me smoking a hookah as if the smoke from the hookah was some type of condiments for my food. If you planning to visit please be ready to have Hookah smoke as part of your menu even if you don’t want it. It is force on you from left or right. Don’t have nothing against the hookah but when I am eating I don’t want to be inhaling it when I trying to enjoyed my food. Then to top it off they take the parking lot which is inside a mall as if they owned it and want to charge $30 for valet because my SUV was oversized. And if you don’t have a reservation for a night when they have a special event don’t worry one of the hostess will sell you a table anywhere from $20-$40. Drinks are a bit overpriced for the location of the restaurant.
The workers were great and food was delicious but they were obviously under staffed and the AC seemed to be not working.
So sad to say but this place has gone downhill. I was a regular and then took a break and decided to go to check other places out ..I decided to go back last night and was disappointed. The food was ok but what alarmed me the most was the service at the bar and how filthy the glasses were that they were serving the drinks in .I ordered a sour amaretto the glass was only 3/4 of the way full and very dirty we asked for a glass to pour our beer it looked like it was just rinsed off and given to us we sent it back and observed them drying it with a napkin and returning it to us which we rejected .after observing the bar we noticed that all the drinks that were being served were in very dirty glasses. To make a long story short we only had appetizers and got out of there..and you wonder if that’s what we saw imagine what we didn’t see .. unfortunately this was one of my favorite places in the pass I use to come with family and friends..I don’t recommend it right now and definitely will not be returning. Dare I say new management..absolutely horrifying to see unhygienic glasses being given to people who are completely unaware.. you can’t even hold a conversation during dinner because the music is so loud..
Went there with my nephew and a few fiends for Sunday brunch. We sat outside to enjoy the beautiful July weather. In my honest opinion.. The food was excellent, it was authentic Dominican food. The unlimited sangria and mimosa were amazing. The atmosphere and the vibe was perfect.Overall we had an amazing time and we are planning on going back a few more times.
I have been to this Mamajuana Cafe more than 10 times (no lie) from friend’s brunches, birthday celebrations, happy hours, you name it! Every time I come I always have a great time. The DJ is always popping, for Saturday and Sunday brunches the mimosas are bottomless and the buffet is delicious.Taco Tuesdays is a must because the specials are great. Make sure to try the mango margaritas! They are truly delicious. The only downside is that you have to pay for parking and the parking lot is super small but it is valet!
I was quite underwhelmed with the experience at Mamajuana cafe. I came here for a friend’s birthday party, and we ordered from the price fixe menu. Walking in the door, it was immediately apparent that it was incredibly loud. For me, this was an immediate negative, and I’d be lying if I had a single communication that night that wasn’t shouted. However, I know that some people may be more interested in dancing than conversation, and the atmosphere was definitely better suited to that. If you’re going for drinks and dancing only, you’re in the right place. With regards to the culinary experience, I would say it’s a mixed bag. My entree and dessert were good! I had the Pollo a la Cubana and the cuatro leches cake. The chicken was tasty and juicy, albeit a bit plain, and the cake was moist and delicious. The starters were OK. Certain items, like the chicken skewers or pork coins were very good, but the steak was subpar. My drink was definitely the worst part of the meal. The frozen margarita was good in the sense that there was actually a good amount of alcohol in it, which was a pleasant surprise. It was not, however, adequately blended. Large chunks of frozen strawberry margarita mix floated throughout, and the result was more of a regular margarita with annoying strawberry slush floating around.Service was fine. I felt very bad for the waitstaff, since the ordering experience consisted of a mix of shouting over the music and gesturing to the menu. They refilled the water glasses with each course, which was fine.In terms of price, I found it to be expensive for what you get. The food and drink is OK, and the prices are high. I am also not a fan of the additional costs associated with parking, paying the bathroom attendant, etc.In closing, I think the main issue is probably that me and the restaurant are not a good match. I like cheap, quiet, and informal, and this restaurant is none of these. However, if you’re looking for music, dancing, and drinks with friends and don’t mind spending a bit, this may be a good destination for you.
Music is way too loud. This restaurant obviously does not care about their neighbors. The music can be heard from miles away. This is a bit absurd. Maybe have your food bring people in. If you want a latin dance club, do it indoors where you can keep the music from bothering everyone else. - edited to add-- Their music plays during nice weather when you want your windows open. Have driven past before to verify it was from this location. If it occurs this spring, I will go by and will take pictures / video.
Excellent food. We went in for lunch and they had the $37 per person buffet with delicious food and unlimited mimosas. The down part is that parking is not included. However you can do ballet parking for $10 bucks. Be aware, they add a gratuity fee to your total at the end. Good music. If you like hookah, they have it.
Met a friend for a drink. Drinks good overall.I only got chips and guacamole with fried cheese and plantains... I got it to go... I thought I would have received a little more food as an appetizer... it was all put into one container. Hot with cold ( fried cheese and plantains), guacamole, and chips squished on top in a small (to me) plastic container. I would have liked for my chips and guacamole and hot/warm items to me disassembled and in separate containers and I put them together. Each nice and fresh. Chips got a little soggy by the time I got home.
Most dominican rest sell food from other cultures and call it dominican food..OBVIOUSLY CEVICHE IS NOT DOMINICAN OR LOL FRIED WINGS..ECT..
PROS.Food is good and drinks but that’s about it .CONSParking lot attendant charges $10 bucks to park in the lot . That’s super ghetto if you can’t have your patrons park for free especially when you are gonna spend money to eat.I was dressed in Brooks Brothers Apparel mind you I’m far from broke make 700K a head and the damn hostess decides to sit me behind everyone at the restaurant this was embarassing and when I addressed it she gave me an attitude . So pathetic how as a fellow a Dominican myself how our own people don’t know anything about customer service . It’s apparent she does this to customers and doesn’t realize the impact this has on people.3) music was WAY too loud and too much disgusting hookah smoke the next day I got sick from all the hookah smoke in that place. As we speak I been in bed with a respiratory infection from all the hookah odors from this place. So disgusting I plan I never to go here againI read the other reviews about this place and it’s true . This place is NOT somewhere I want to eat again. Also if the owner is so defensive about his business then maybe he should take his feedback on his restaurant seriously because that place was dead went I went . I rather Goto mamasushi in Passaic or go up north. The mamajuanas in weehawekn is way better than this one .Avoid at all costs ! Don’t eat here
I arrived there and asked for a reservation and the receptionist sent me to the wrong table and I went back to her and she just told me to look for the table😱I mean, is that supposed to be your job right? At least to know the right table. But the drinks and the food were good 😊Decoration was adorable.
I ordered take out but walking into the restaurant made me want to stay. Its very well organized and nicely decorated in the sense of its not cluttered like other places. The food was really good, parking was a bit hectic but the valets will find you a good spot.
Went there for the first time with some friends. We had an amazing time. The food, the atmosphere and service was great. Aderson, the waitress provided a phenomenal customer service. Great experience!
Omg !First I should have been warned by the parking situation. This place blocked all the parking spots for its valet service. This is unacceptable !!!We had to park mikes away as the whole neighborhood is crazy. They should not prevent us to park by the restaurant and should instead keep only a few spots for valet!!!Also The place is sooooo loud! I had to scream to communicate. They sat my party by the DJ smoking his hookah. This was not a great start. Eating with the smell of smoke and the banging music like I was in a nightclub! Then food is very average. The server doenst speak English and had to grab someone from the kitchen to translate!!!Then they added bacon as a supplement on my burger when I don’t eat pork!Empanadas ( beef) tasted strange, I couldn’t finish them.Mofonguito was extremely dry. Looks like it was cooked the day before. My roll was just ok, not bad.Margarita was not tasty with too much sour mix and I believe they used house cheap tequila instead of the one I requested. It just was not good.Lychee martini was also terrible .I will never come back and I don’t recommend. This is a place to avoid.
I had an amazing time at this place; Aderson was taking care of my table, and he was very sweet, and very attentive, I never had to look for him because he was there all the time checking on my table and making sure we were good. The atmosphere was amazing. Thank you Aderson for an outstanding service!!
Such a beautiful ambiance but the service was horrible. We had to get the hookah guy’s attention plenty of times in order to get us beverages and our check. Our waitress (short blonde hair) had an attitude last night and seemed miserable doing her job. Please hire friendly people that don’t hate their job!And to comment back to what the useless owner said, I did take a step back to analyze that you have a horrible business and can’t take constructive criticism. I bet it’s the hookah guy who has access to Google reviews 😂 I guess that’s why it’s in the ghettoNOT MY FAULT YOUR SERVICE IS SO BAD IT MAKES ME WANT TO SAY SOMETHING.
It was funMeeting up with past colleaguesWe ate, danced a bit -the music got louder while we were there, the volume at first was great because we could still talk to each other - so even though we couldnt talk as much we had a good time
Beautiful place but service needs to improve for the brunch buffet. Food was good but it was a bit cold. Suggestion for the food menu for the kids that are changed full price you should serve fried chicken French fries or Mac and cheese stuff that the kids eat. I had a party of 21 guests and some complained about the service. Example: How they had to wait so long to get water, I don’t understand why the pitchers of water and mimosa aren’t left at the table, and mind you they only give you to hours. The hostess/waitress was not polite.
This is an average place, food selection and quality are just okay. I have to try the brunch on weekends which seems to be good.Atmosphere is pretty slow during happy hours on weekdays
Great for sons Birthday dinner. Language barrier so communicating was a bit challenging at times. Overall it was a great time. Food, drinks and atmosphere where on point. Will definitely go back.
I give the a three because the staff were very nice and helpful. The first the was the music was so loud that I couldnt hear the bartender. When you go out to dinner and having a conversation is so difficult that its best to just not talk. (NOT GOOD!)I asked for a frozen Passion Fruit margarita. What I received was a smoothie and all I tasted was the liquor NO PASSION FRUIT.Usually in restaurants that double as clubs. The music during dinner time is at a listening level so people can enjoy their meal and have conversations. When its time to convert to the club it will inform the customers and the music and lighting switches (NOT HERE).I asked for a medium well skirt steak, received an overly cooked steak. It tasted good just not cooked the way I asked. My husband asked for the pork chops, they were not restaurant grade. The women bathroom was disgusting,no paper of any kind. Very dirty. Would not recommend.
I love their Sunday brunches that they do. I believe it is about $50 per person. There is a DJ you can do. Hookah and brunch is all you can eat buffet styles so you cant go wrong. It also comes with bottomless mimosas or rum punches. You get a lot for your money and its a great time.
I celebrated my 26th birthday here on Sunday 9/16/18 and it was absolutely amazing. I had a group of 16 people and we all had an amazing time especially me. The staff showed amazing hospitality. The food and music was great. The drinks wasn’t watered down and not too strong, it was just right. We had hookah added for an additional price. It was 25 extra which is a fair price. The place is beautiful inside. I was given a fish bowl with my drink because it was my birthday which was awesome. The staff did the happy birthday celebration for me and I did not see it coming, they caught me off guard so good it brought a tears to my eyes. Overall, this place is absolutely amazing and I’m glad I celebrated my birthday here with my family and friends. Thank you so much Mamajuana located in Paterson, NJ for giving me amazing memories I’ll never forget.
So many things to write about the experience to how they accommodate my family of 20 coming from n.y, etc…Great seating for my family to passing the brunch hour so we could enjoy each other.I’ve came after that and a few more times and same experience every time great service, welcoming, great food, and great music!!
It was my birthday and when it was time to sing happy birthday, they had the wrong name and then had the nerve the change it in my face. Also the waiter couldnt communicate with the people at my table so I had to translate for him which was annoying. We spent good money there and they werent even paying attention to something as simple as the name on the birthday sign !
If I can give it a no star I would. My wife has been talking about going to this place for awhile, so we decided to go last Saturday. We sat down and order our drink, 1st of all the waiter was super nasty and had no patients even got the drink wrong and didn’t bring what my wife asked. Then when we was placing our order he was giving us attitude and was saying order what ever is in the menu, I just work here. After that I asked him to please charge me my drinks and I left. He charged me $27 for 4 little cups of soda. Wouldn’t recommend this places to no one will never ever go back and will tell all my friends and family about the worse experience i had at this places.
Went on a Thursday night with a group of 4 (made a reservation because it gets packed) and had a great time. Food was delicious, music was great! Our waitress was fast & Geno was very attentive in making sure everyone was good. Tables were placed 6 feet apart. Everything took a little long to come out but it was worth it.
First Impression of mamajuanas, the parking. The parking lot was half empty and the first thing you see is a $10 charge for Valet parking. When I could just park my car right there, in front of the restaurant. And by all means I am not cheap, but if they nickle and dime before you even get in the door image what happens after you sit down?!? We went down 1/4 of a mile down to La Hacienda. Free parking and the food was amazing.
Be carefuiwith this restaurant this people have a big business am no talking about the food is with the valet park they towing your car if you dont do valet parking the call and your car get tow and you have to paid $300 dollars they people the guy from the tow say is the mamajuana valet parking they call them be careful if you want go to this place be prepare to paid $10 dollars for your valet parking $10 dollars is not much but i think they have to give the customer the choice to paid valet or not they dont give a choice you have to paid if not they call and your car get tow in 5 minute after you parking
Haven’t been here in a while so I came for brunch this past weekend. The food was great the service was ok. The music was way too loud for a brunch setting. We found a hair in one of our appetizers but the waitress quickly fixed that for us. When our waitress wasn’t around I asked a hookah guy to ask a waiter nearby to refill our drinks & my table saw the guy shake his head no to him. It clearly wasn’t that he couldn’t because we were there for a while & had asked another waitress prior & she refilled us no problem. Thought that was very unprofessional of him but we didn’t make it a big deal. Last time I was here the outside wasn’t covered the way it is now & we had to be seated in this shed looking area. It was so hot, I was disappointed. You have no view of anything outside unless you’re a party of 2 & get seated next to a window with high tables & chairs or reserve a VIP area in the back with the patio furniture away from the covered shed area which is nice.
First impression, most of the tables empty and the wake us to out side for no reason, went weather was so hot. Then bathroom was so disgusting doors no locked and toilet paper everywhere and to ending this day my car was towing because they have the valet parking if you don’t us them, towing will be called and ending to pay $300.00 to them is so much coincidence right. Personally I don’t recommend this place to have a good time . I really think this situation could be better if the warning costumer about it!!!!
The service was bad And my daughter had asthma and the guy ran next to us kept blowing hookah by her face and he knew that she had asthma because she took out her enhancer and he saw it and Kept doing it. The food was good but it could have been better and such a waste of time and money.
Went today for brunch. Very happy with all , the service and food were great , not to mention the desserts. I want to thank the manager( Gino.) He was very accommodating and made sure you felt welcome and along with the staff.Diffineatly worth the trip to this place .will go again. .! Great vibes , music . Live D.j.Thanks again I had a great time !!!( Gino keep up the great work .)..
Came here for the 1st time finally & enjoyed myself. My food & drink was delicious. The atmosphere was lively, with patrons smoking hookah & a few birthday celebrations going on. The music was pumped up & we couldnt really hear each other talking but it was still fine, it didnt really bother any of us.
I have been to this restaurant 4 times. Twice during the lounge after hours and twice during brunch. This last time I visited the food was very good as the first time. However, the service not so great. The initial hostess was very nice but I found it very odd that we could not chose where to sit when the restaurant was almost empty and we had a reservation. It seems as this place caters to large groups even if they are not present yet to be seated. Brunch is advertised for 2 hours and given the lack of “available” seating we were only able to be seated in a table for 1 hour. Upon paying our bill we asked one of the servers if we can sit in the patio and the waiter went to check if there were available tables and he came back to inform us there was a table available. So we went out to the patio and asked for an additional chair. After sitting for 5 minutes we were asked to move because the table was reserved for another party and that another table can be set up for us. Wouldn’t it make better sense for a new table to be set up for the party that has not been seated yet? The entire situation was very embarrassing and I cannot believe a restaurant would treat it’s customers in this manner. It clearly show a lack of etiquette in their part and I will no longer be visiting this establishment.
First, the parking situation which should have been a sign. Once seated, place was empty except for a party of about 18 ppl on the outside. Waiter who didnt know English, came about 15 mins after and couldnt get it right and forgot to place other items. Fries came hard and refried..had to wait another 15 for new ones. 8 ppl and food was mediocre 😕..music was too loud, it was 5:30
Love it, food was amazing, server was great and atmosphere was fun. If you want to have an important convo, this isnt the place because the music is loud, but we enjoyed that.
Went for a friends birthday during happy hour. The drinks were great (the prices were even better) loved the appetizers. Service was good, the server always came to check on is if we needed anything. Music was outstanding (Latin of course)
Food was good. Went with a big group for dinner. The only con is the very loud music, could barely speak to the waiters and my friends at the table. You had to literally yell so hard that someone could understand you. Its more of a club place than a dinner place to go. Would recommend going only for drinks.
I came here over the weekend to have brunch and walked out. The hostess has an attitude problem so I can only imagine how the service and everything else would have gone. No thanks! Also, the music here is too loud for a restaurant. Is this a club? Food is made to enjoy, you have a business, make customers happy by introducing a warm atmosphere and not make them turn around because staff is undertrained.Owner, is your staff underpaid? Judging by previous comments, your staff either needs more training on customer service or more money in their pockets to keep them happy. I will try another location definitely not coming back to this one. See ya!
Made a reservation for Father’s Day at 4:30 party of 7. Got there, walked us to our table, sat down and 7 minutes later we was out the door. The music was exaggeratedly loud. We couldn’t even talk or hear the waitress. We knew that we wouldn’t going to be able to enjoy the meal or conversations with the family. Terrible choice I made, we ended up going to La Fortaleza in Garfield instead and had a great time. and…this goes to the owner that’s always laughing at some of the low rating peoples reviews; that shows your lack of professionalism, you’re an obnoxious A.HOLE that doesn’t know how to take constructive criticisms. Keep that same attitude and that place won’t last too long, you’ll see.
I had a 7:30 reservation for dinner which I made 2 days prior. Upon arrival I was told we had to pay a $20 per person cover charge or sit outdoors due to some kind of band they where having at 10pm. I was absolutely appalled and explained that upon making reservations I was not informed of this and had that been the case I would have reserved somewhere else. I explained we where only having dinner and would more than likely be done by then. The host was adamant and had an attitude she stated we pay or sit outside. At that point I requested to speak to a manager. They got her and clearly she was lacking just as much professionalism as the host. She did not acknowledge me nor did she apologize for the mix up on their end for not informing their reserved guest of this event and the cover charge to sit and eat that applied. It was not until I explained myself once again that the manager said “i mean its not a big deal i will have you seated all the way in the back where you can’t see anything. Huh! Are you serious? She has no experience properly handling customer service issues that arise due to their own lack of giving out the right information when reservations are made. They seated us all the way in the back far right by a wall. We had an appetizer which by the way came out cold and sangría. At this point we decided to leave and dine elsewhere! This kind of treatment is unacceptable and managers response was bazar. The one thing i will say the waiter was sweet and the valet women who parked my car was sweet. Would never return to this location.
Date attended: 9/18/21 @ 3:30pmI’ve been to this location 2x before this and to the NYC location more times than I can count, up until today, I have never had anything negative to say about the restaurant. However, I can honestly say this past experience was the worst one I ever had. Both hostesses left a very bad impression on me right from the first encounter. The servers and the restaurant itself is actually super nice and clean but they really need to work on the hostesses considering this is the first impression of a restaurant that you’re prepared to spend money in.My boyfriend and I walked in and were immediately stared at like we were inconveniencing them and their conversation. We stood in front of them for a few minutes while they finished their own personal conversation (which was whispering in each others ear and snickering while making eye contact w| us). When they finally found the time to attend us, she looked annoyed that she even had to engage w| us. I repeated my name about 3x all the while, they’re half listening due to the whispering that was going on between my responses. My face looked visibly annoyed and the hostess just seemed amused by it. She chuckled and kept going on about her business. The place was relatively empty so I’m not sure why we were asked to wait while they “looked for a table” for us. When the other hostess finally came back, she asked once again whether we preferred to sit inside or outside. Something we already answered in between their side convo. Even while we sat at our table, I couldn’t shake the feeling of how unbelievably rude these two girls were so we left and went to a different restaurant.I feel terrible for the servers who possibly lost a lot of tables all due to the horrible first impression the hostesses present. I’m sure my review will just roll off the owners backs but I felt like I had to express how disappointed and awkward I felt.
The food was excellent! Only downside was was there on a Sunday at 7:30 with my first time when they are music was pretty loud really couldnt talk to my friends. But since the food is really good that they will be going again!
Everyone should go at least once each day of the week so they can experience the amazing deals they have. Great for family gatherings, Birthday celebrations, Baby showers and other private event. Dont hesitate to visit. The tacos were delicious! We also ordered wings for $5 and they were good as well.
3 starts strictly go to chef and bartender. Waiting 15 min to be seated - to most ppl that isnt horrible... BUT ..... Place was not busy and plenty of 6 ft apart tables. And then waited 25min to see a waiter. Nice guy BUT serving way too many tables. Did not get water unless asked. And nothing to munch on while we waited additional time for drinks and food. Overall i would only go back for the food but i better have plenty of time to spare. Music good, food great, drinks good, parking sucks. Basically Good luck.
I went here for my sisters birthday and we were a group of amount 15 people so its definitely overwhelming for the staff but they did an amazing job! We were running a bit late and they almost cancelled our reservation and the front desk was not that welcoming so immediately did not feel good BUT the manager was extremely kind and understanding, she was great! Our waiter Cesar was soo good, he was so attentive, so helpful and made sure we were okay. Cesars service made us all feel so welcome! He also made sure all of our drinks and food came out at a good timing. If you come here make sure to ask for Cesar! :)
Yesterday I decided to celebrate my birthday with family and I could honestly say I enjoy my time and my family as well Arturo went above and beyond always checking if we was ok and comfortable but most importantly he made sure we had a good time I will recommend this place to anyone food and drinks are very good and also the music and the vibe are amazing and if you need any help ask for Arturo he will make sure your night be amazing and unforgettable… I definitely will recommend this place to anyone trying to have a amazing time…
There was a group of teenagers who were there to celebrate a birthday. They sat down, ordered food and drank water from what I saw. A short time later I saw how what I believe was the manager started treating these guys quite disgusting. She took all his glasses off the table, and she removed the plates while they were still eating. Also, she was on top of them like she was a security putting pressure on them. I understand that this kind of shop makes money on alcoholic beverages, but I believe that there are certain ways of dealing with people. The restaurant takes reservations. So I think it might warn people that there is a minimum spending requirement, or it might just not accept minors under 21. I say this because I think it is a thousand times better to hear first what you are going to meet, instead of then find yourself a girl who treats you as if you were garbage.
This place is absolutely horrible. We were a party of 10 and two different tables. My table was just 3 people. We ordered before the other table. And we never got our 3 drinks, our hookah, our two plates of food. Waited over an hour. Never got our napkins & utensils until I asked for it. The waiter just forgot all of our stuff, and the other table all got there’s before ours when we’re all together. The waiter did poor at her job honestly.
Zero stars. First time here and it was awful. I expected a lot more - heard so many great things from friends and family BUT TODAY, TONIGHT WAS AWFUL AND IT WASNT EVEN BUSY!!! The waitress forgot a drink and the hookah was so wack. Asked for a refill 4 TIMES, FOUR! NEVER RECEIVED IT. Gratitude was already included but honestly it shouldn’t have, we would’ve left 0, ZERO, tip! Had to go to the bar to get shots because the waitress just wasn’t around the whole time - we were lucky enough to get the bill. Spoke to the hosts up front, who spoke to the manager- she stated “all I could offer you guys are a round of shots”. We didn’t want to stay, it was horrible already, we don’t care for free shots!! DO BETTER!!!!!!!!! Personally, I’m definitely not coming backFood and drinks were average ~ but, again, the service sucked!!!!
I love this place. Great music, food and environment. Everyday is something special with each day of the week having a special deal with food and drink. Everyone should go at least once each day of the week so they can experience the amazing deals they have. Great for family gatherings, Birthday celebrations, Baby showers and other private event. Dont hesitate to visit.
The food and service are fantastic. The parking lot is tiny so you wind up paying for valet parking. The music is fantastic but s little too loud
We sat there for 35 minutes before we finally flagged down a waitress named Isabel to find out who our server was. Isabel twice pretended like she did see or hear us. We decided to go somewhere else. The place is very pretty and the drinks we had from the bar we ok.
I am really disappointed. The ambiance is out of this world, with an awesome DJ and awesome venue. Paid for bottomless and I swear the mimosas had 0% Champaign. The waiting staff ended up arguing with me instead of fixing the issue. No normal being should be fully sober after 8 mimosas. I heard great things and as a fellow dominican, this place really left me longing for more. Not worth it.
Loved my waitress. So sweet and helpful! Dont know her name, but I love love this place. Not my first tome there. My bridal shower and my daughters birthday 🎂was celebrated there. Food and music fantastic 👌
Great place and tasty food. Big enough to have a good time while you eat or if you just want to have a good time having a few drinks. The only this that I found properly was the music volume. It was too loud for a place that also serves food. Its more a nightclub than a restaurant. They need to balance it out. Other than that its perfect.
One of my favorite places to go for any occasion; specially when one is provided with the best service.I have to provide special thanks to Jessica and Sally for always being so attentive, welcoming and professional. Sally has helped me several times and it’s always been amazing. She always makes sure my party is well attended. She’s so friendly and nice and I always ask for her to be my server. Also, thank you Jessica for helping us out with our reservations and requests.Overall Mamajuana is a great place to have a good time. Thank you Jessica and Sally for making our visits run smoothly and pleasant.
Sunday brunch is poppin here! If the club scene isnt for you anymore but like drinks and food and music definitely go here. They had a great DJ who played awesome mix of salsa, bachata, merengue, regatón and hip hop. The food was served buffet style and they have endless mañosas and rum punch. Each group is limited to two hours which is good for other groups coming in for events. Great spot to get together with friends. I wouldnt recommend a date because the music is so loud you have to yell and definitely not a place for kids. I really enjoyed this time with my friends and my husband and cant wait to go again for another outing.
Nice vibe with good music. Guacamole appitizer is very good. This location requires valet parking. Restrooms need some TLC...some of doors do not lock and the toilet was broken in two stalls. It was unfortunate that the toilet did not flush after using the restroom. This does not leave a good impression for the guest experience.
My son his wife, children and my daughter took me and him there for Fathers day brunch. The food was good and plentiful. The staff was courteous and helpful. They were quick to explain added cost for anything you tried to order outside of your package. For example: My daughter in-law is breastfeeding and didnt want the included Momosa and neither did I so we asked the girl assigned to our area for something non-alcoholic and she said they have mango (me) or passionfruit (her) juice, we said yes. One of the guys, who spoke better English came over and told us there was a additional charge for that type of juice but they had orange juice or fruit punch which we could have free. Overall it was a great experience. I would go back. I say this but I also didnt see the bill!!! Lol
Impromptu meet up with a friend and this place didnt disappoint! The Monday 2 for 1 deal is great . Our waiter was wonderful , his recommendations were on point.. Food and drinks were delicious and the food presentation was beautiful. I highly recommend! I am happy this gem is in my hometown! See you guys real soon!
The staff here is the most friendliest Ive ever had the pleasure of interacting with !!!! Angel was our server and he truly deserve that name !!! Not to mention the food OMG ...... We had the goat , beef and chicken yum yum yum .... I had to have seconds ...... This is truly one of my top 3 (if not my #1 ) will definitely be back pretty soon .... That yall for an amazing experience!!!!!
I went here for a birthday celebration. It was not a busy night, which was great. We got a private table separate from the rest of the sitting area since we had a party of 7. Food was fresh and hot. Tasted delicious. Great music and great atmosphere. Staff was friendly and even took pictures of us for the restaurants official Instagram. We had a lot of fun and will definitely go back again!
We went to celebrate our best friend’s birthday this past Saturday night and that same night my husband got really sick from the food that we both sent back because the seafood was way over cooked and so fishy and it’s now Monday night and he still isn’t 100% back to normal. We ended up ordering something else which we got charged the full price. Would have been a common curtesy to at least get half off of our bill if not free for the inconvenience this caused. It was our first time and definitely our last time. The server was very nice and polite on the positive side other then that I highly don’t recommend ordering food from here.
I went today for my friends birthday- TERRIBLE. I ordered the fettuccine since it is something so simple and should be easy to make. HORRIBLE. The pasta was over cooked and bland. The shrimp tasted like rubber. I was glad I didn’t order the seafood pallea - I’m sure it would’ve been overcooked too. Our server was terrible, did not even come to check up on us after we got our food and never even said his name. I also ordered the chicken empanadas and he brought me something different. As a server myself I would admit that it was a mistake and go get it fixed ASAP but he tried to tell me this is what I ordered and I know I didn’t. They put us right next to the speaker and couldn’t hear anyone at all. Would not go again. Over priced. Maybe just go for drinks and hookah tbh.
I visited this place for a birthday brunch. What I didn’t like about it was the early guests dancing around the buffet and blocking the way to serve yourself. Our reservations were for the second seating, which means there was already a group of patrons whom ate and were ready to dance. So add sweat around your food and difficulty to serve yourself from the first group of people. I am sure it is nicer if youre among the first group since there is no one drunk yet. If you decide to come to the brunch, BOOK FOR THE EARLIER SEATING and Im sure you will have great time.TO OWNERS RESPONSE: No need to apologize for the Dancing and Partying. It was exactly what I was expecting to happen, just not around and on top of the buffet. There is a little hygiene problem with that.
By far the best place to be at on a Sunday morning for brunch.Atmosphere was lively yet sophisticated. The price wasnt too much and the wait wasnt too long neither. I would recommend this place to anyone looking to have a good time with friends and families, beware it does get pretty loud in there. Food was also pretty good , it was buffet style ranging from entrees to desserts to healthy options. The mimosas were probably the best option in terms of drinks.
If you are in the mood for good Spanish food as well as good service this is the place to go. Me and my family (which consists Of 15+ ppl) were taken care of by Sally and she was amazing . The whole night she made sure we had what we needed. The whole staff was very accommodating and we really appreciate them taking the time and energy to make sure we were good. It’s really a Great restaurant, their NYC location is also lovely. Either way I will be returning soon to Patersons location.
The food was amazing... The service was outstanding! Jen our waitress truly went above and beyond to make sure we felt accommodated! I loved the entire experience from the time I walked in from the time we walked out! They also have a really cool video Booth that u can use for Free!!! I would definitely recommend this place ☺️
Overpriced and their trying to hustle folks into valet parking when its shared parking with another plaza one and done for me!
Went here yesterday for drinks and dinner. I ended up getting la ninja roll and let me tell you it was good.... BUT later that night I had horrible food poisoning and was constantly throwing up. The same happened to my friend who also had sushi. This place has some contaminated fish and I would not come here again.
Had a Sunday reservation at 8:30pm and the food + service was excellent ! Thank you ToOur waiter Cesar for delivering and excellent service ! Always on top of the table and our drinks were never empty ! Food arrived at timely manner ! Quick, hot and delicious !We started with mofonguitos ! A trio of mashed plantains filled with crab meat , chicken and topped wit sour cream !For main course the Paella tasted fresh ! not very soupy and had the perfect Spanish flavors !Lastly the Skirt Steak was cooked to perfection!Thank you 🙏
Nice chill place to dine and have a drink, music can get a little loud at different times but definitely a good spot to have a churrasco (skirt steak)
I went there a couple of times years ago it was always a very nice place pricey but nice.,after the pandemic I went for the first time for Sunday brunch we took a late brunch, food was good but I was not impressed because certain things that I ate tasted cold .They have a small parking space and because I know the area I decided to park on the street, around the area there’s lots of factories,So I parked in one of the empty spaces because the factories are closed on Sundays, I noticed that the valet parking from the restaurant was parking their customers cars in the factories empty parking spaces as well and they were charging the people $10 to park their cars in a space that doesn’t even belong to the restaurant, On the way out my friend gave the ticket to the valet guy to go get her car but he told her that the car was right there next to her So he didn’t need to go get it but then he asked her for a tip, and she walked to get her car, so I told the guy you have some nerves you charging people $10 to park their car and you asking for a tip? So everything was very nice but We had that inconvenience and they charging you to park your car in aplace that does not belong to them Outside the restaurant and I’m sure they’re not responsible if something happened to your car. So that was my experience at the MamaJuanaCafe In Paterson New Jersey
Came here for brunch after my event was cancelled. The place was not busy and the service was amazing. The brunch was really good and the omelet station was great. The drinks also made everything even better. I will absolutely return for brunch, we also hung out outside for a few and there was valet for parking.
Waste of $800 dollars. Honestly food was quite disappointing for a simple menu, couldve got the same food at a mom and pops corner store for half the price. Reservations were made for outside sitting to which they did not keep their word , it was the main reason we chose to go. When we got there, our tables were not ready we were told we could not sit outside that we had to sit a separate tables which they moved further away from each other so we had to scream at each other all because we spoke with the manager and told her our complaints about the reservations and that they had no record of us asking to sit outside. Serves was not great but one of our servers was good so hats off to the young man. Honestly before covid mightve been a good hookah lounge now no hookah inside. just go elsewhere s#*t the McDonalds across the street gives better service and food check them out
Honestly, I have heard great things about this place but today was a terrible experience! We waited 3 hours for steak and fries! Our reservation was at 6pm and we had gotten our table around 730pm. Drinks tasted like cough medicine! ÇBetween the loud music and the angry customers complaining about why their food was running so late made me nauseous! After spending $200 some dollar we left very unhappy. Im sure the business owner will not care because theyre getting a paycheck at the end of the week. But you wont see us going there anymore. Save your money and go to actual Spain because this place is a poor example of the Latin people.
Was visiting the area, decided to have dinner at Mamajuana Cafe in Paterson, N.J. Not in the best area of Paterson but very beautiful building structure; inside as well as the outside. However, cannot say the same for the service. Not only is the food overpriced, but the service in general is mediocre. The waiter seemed annoyed by my questions on the dish and felt like I was being rushed to make my order. After our dinner arrived, didnt see the waiter for a while ( never brought us any water), and we were brought our check without even asking for it. Didnt understand the rush, the area we were sitting ( not the patio) was almost empty. Just plain rude and no ediquet in my opinion. Very disappointed. Not coming back here and will not recommend.
I am a loyal customer but service has changed so much. All is due to the new management. Employees don’t seen happy anymore and do not go out of their way to provide a 5 start service. Visited Yesterday 8/12 and the food order we placed had to be changed twice, the manager went to the kitchen to ensure the order was placed correctly and still came out wrong. Waited 2 hours for the food and still was wrong. We were 7 and some of us didn’t eat. When manager was called he defended himself by blaming everyone else and Made a comment about a visit he had at a McDonalds where he received a wrong coffee 3 times. That had nothing to do with MMJ and didn’t do anything or offer anything for us to leave happy and with the desire to come back. His comment was out of place. The place is asking for a manager that knows what needs to be done: need to focus on employee moral, make them feel good so they can go back to provide a wonderful service as before. Kitchen cant handle the orders; hire more staff or do not open so many days so you can maximize the days you do open.We truly love the place but will not be back till something is done about it.
If you are going here for the bootleg brunch Dont waste your money. The options are not worth $42. The food was cold also looked like leftover. NOT WORTH THE MONEY! Also NOT kid friendly so dont bring kids, extremely loud and is more like a club not a restaurant.
I love coming here for brunch on Saturdays ($25) or Sundays ($30). Full buffet of typical Dominican food and unlimited mimosas & jacks punch. I havent had an issue with this location in regard to the amount of times waiters come around for refills. The music is really loud so this is not a place for brunch and conversation. They also have hookah and an outside patio.
Fri 12/3 @ 7pmMy husband made dinner reservations for 7pm, double date with my mom/stdad for her bday. We arrive 10min early, paid $12 to self park. We walk in & told the lady we had 7pm dinner reservations. She tells us oh ok, we are setting the tables up now, so we will seat you at 730pm 🙄 You can hang at the bar.I was already annoyed with the parking fee & now pushing the reservations. My husband tries to stay positive. Were at the bar for about 5min & my husband walks over to the lady & asks what is going on because theres security & so much happening. She goes oh we have such & such artist coming tonight. My husband says, oh ok nobody told me that. So where will we be sitting? She goes oh follow me, he follows her to outside seating!! Like are you kidding me, smack in the middle of winter, not to mention my mom was in a dress. There was like a tent, plastic covering things & heaters, but no, it was still to cold to enjoy dinner. At this point, I was so annoyed with the lady, the whole place & embarrassed cause this is my moms bday dinner. Now were scrambling to find somewhere to take her at 730pm on a Sunday night.Im not bashing their food or the place, BUT their customer service is 👎🏽 all of this could have been avoided had they simply told my husband before making the reservations, we have 730pm available, not 7pm & oh by the way, we have an artist coming so were going to have seat you in our outside seating. Simple. We would have made reservations elsewhere, the end. Mamajuana, please do better!
Terrible experience. Was told when we made the reservation, that outside seating would be available for hookah. Very quick to take our deposit and then the area wasn’t available. Reservations were set for 1pm, but doors were not opened until 1:10pm, which delayed our seating. Only eight people to a table, so be weary if you are bringing a group of people and that you may be separated to two tables. Lastly, someone broke the DJ’s heart bc the depressing music was not dance worthy for a table who is trying to go to celebrate someone’s birthday. Positive note: Gabriel was an excellent server. Thank you!
Came to eat.. HAD TO WAIT 45 MIN FOR A TABLE.. walked in place is empty. Then charged 20 dollars at the door.A restaurant is charging to go in to eat. Decided to just entertain the idea. Ordered calamry for appetizer came to the table really fast BUT was cold. Bar drinks expensive as hell decided to order a bottle. Menue says $190. But they dont have the size specified on the menue We have to get the bigger bottle at $235. Waiter was nice. But disappeared.
Loved the food and Brunch special unlimited Mimosas and Rum Punch! My fiance loved the Bass filet. We went on a Sunday we were lucky to get a seat right away since we didnt have reservations. If you like an upbeat, music ambiance with great Latin-Americam food this is the place.
Just fine, friendly staff but with too many tables for each guy to cover.. taking too long to be attended, at least for my experience DJ repeatedly playing same songs even for three time, I almost could not believe that! But in general a good place to spend time and drink under fair prices, go there and have good time.
Wednesday night I reserved a table for my sisters birthday dinner, My reservation was 7:30 I was running little late I called the restaurant to let them know I was coming in few minutes late, the woman who picked up the phone was being super rude she told me “okay” and hang up the phone on me. The whole time I was on my way to the restaurant I was telling my loves one how the person who was in the phone was so rude and was giving attitude so I was not expecting to get there to get the same behavior. When I got to the restaurant the security immediately just gave me attitude and was being super rough I asked for the manager because I was not going to tolerate not such a thing as that. My table was already reserved to be seated when I asked to be seated down again the manager changed my table and was also being super rude I don’t know what type of managing this restaurant have but it’s not good. The food was food and we only ordered appetizers and it took them 1:36 minutes to serve us mind you it was only appetizer. Super bad customer service I do not recommend this restaurant in Paterson at all.
I have no complain with the waitress, food, and even music but after being there, eating and drinking 3 bulldogs they told me I have to go. According to them, they had reservations and I had to go, even though I was consuming. I was half way through my third drink and they told me I had to go, and even though I told them I wanted another drink she said they wouldn’t be able to serve me because there was reservations made for that table. I ended up leaving, as I was rushed through my drink.
Everyone must try Sunday Brunch here. The food was hot and DELICIOUS. Evelyn G. (manager) and the ENTIRE STAFF THERE TODAY WERE AMAZING! Everyone one that attended to our table were very accommodating, our waitress was GREAT! The staff here are friendly and were very attentive to our party. Beautiful people, great location, great music/ awesome DJ, what more can you ask for. Just the way our Caribbean people are! Cant wait to visit the Paterson location again! Xoxo
If I could give this place 0 start I would base on customer service over the phone! I called to asked if they where doing take out and they said yes. 10m later I called again (because I was closer so my food wouldn’t be cold by the time I get there ) to place the order and the receptionist said they where back up. She claim she was the manager. Right on the first call, if she would’ve been another one, she should have told me to placed my order because they where getting backed up ( as a manager would think ) in order to give a great customer service. But instead she was very rude and hanged up the phone on me.
Brunch specials are everything here.... they will not u reach the bottom of your glass before they fill it back up. Didnt even have to ask them to keep the drinks coming, and the food was superb!.... water tastes like tap but Im not surprised its like that everywhere. This will definitely be a go to for me. Havent been here at night.. not yet.
I wish I can give 0 stars... I went for a brunch with a large group of people from 3:30-5:30 they failed to accommodate our party. Waiters took forever to take our order we got our food and hour before getting kicked out when it was their fault for taking so long with our orders... honestly never coming here again. Save your coins and go somewhere else where your valued as a paying customer.
First timer--- The waiter with the long braids was absolutely amazing! So accommodating made sure to check on us every few minutes. Had great recommendations. So knowledgeable about the menu. Over had an amazing experience with this waiter. I cant remember his name but he mentioned that hes only there Saturday and Sunday. So next time i travel to NJ i will make sure to come here again.
This place has terrible service. They hire people with no restaurant adequates. She sneezed staring at me.We got our appetizers, but no utensils to eat with.We stared at our appetizers for 10 minutes before we recieved utensils. No water. Our drinks got mixed up.The young lady did not even check up on us after we got our entrée.We got lovely seating outdoors, and luckily live fireworks just made feel it feel slightly nice. The ambience is great. You forget about the cars driving by on the freeway with the lovely Spanish music.
Made a reservation two weeks prior to celebrate Mothers Day early for my Mother in-law when we get their they have the music extremely loud. When they go to seat us they attempt to sit us next behind the DJ next to the speakers. We ask if their is another location available which would be more comfortable. They mentioned that all tables are reserved. After some to if pointing different locations they sit us in a table thats reserved and give us a time limit of one hour to eat. We sit there eat brunch and an 1hr passes they begin to tell us that we need to move. We ask if we can remain in the restaurant and be relocated to a vacant area like outside patio. They tell us yes. That their is a space that has been opened for us. When we get to the area we are seated an extra chair is placed at the table since one was missing and we were four. Literally 5 mins pass and we are kicked out of our table stating that others reserved the area and are waiting to be seated. I have no complaints about the food. Everything was really good but the quality of service and the lack of respect for its patrons is one of the worse in the restaurant business. The manager never approached my group or apologized for any inconveniences. It seems like whoever has the bigger party get the preferential treatment. I highly recommend another location for any special events. A restaurant that doesnt value its customers is not a restaurant worth returning to.
I absolutely love this place. Waiters are polite, fast, and attentive. I love the sushi and steak and I always add the lobster tail. Also offer a very good happy hour. I would recommend this for any occasion.
Food was great. Sushi wasnt bad for a Spanish restaurant. Place is beautifully decorated. Waiter made up for his not so perfect service with free shots. Good time.
This place was okay until my sister and I were rudely interrupted by the host and waiter. When we got there I asked the manager if we could get a table and he said “I have a waiting list but give me some time maybe i could find one for you”. We end up getting a small table by the back which was great. I ordered an appetizer and the waiter was questioning if that was all I’m eating and I was like for now just the appetizer let me think about it. She said oh because I have people waiting and if your just going to order that than you can’t sit here. I was speechless and confused. Obviously they have LACK COMMUNICATION. What made it worse was when the hostess came around and ask if that was all I was going to eat and I’m was like excuse me? She’s the one with curly hair but that night she had it in a low bon. I never had so many people come up to our table and disturb our night. To think I was going to have my birthday here smh not going to happen. By the way the waiter did not come around not ONE TIME. I wanted to order something to drink because the water tasted very weird. So basically I wasn’t getting service at all. She felt some type of way and didn’t want to serve us. I had to wave my hand to get her attention from the other side of the place. I suggest you guys hire people who know when they’re wrong and be okay with it.
Really nice environment terrible service, I have been to this place 5 times and the services have been bad at least 4 times. Not sure if they are under staff but Sunday June 13th, 2015 was the worst day of them all. I placed an order for food that took at least 45 minutes to come and waiter never even bothered to refill the water or even give a status on the food. I asked for a side order that never came with the meal, the waiter said that they might have given it to someone else and said he would bring the side order but not put it on the bill. After finishing the food the not only did the bill took forever to come but the waiter never took removed the side order from bill. Over all it has always been a bad experience with the service. Just look at the other reviews.
I live 1.6 miles from this restaurant. My kids are constantly kept awake by the insanely loud music coming from Mamajuana’s at all hours of the night. By all means, let your diners enjoy some music, but it’s inconsiderate and downright hostile to blast music at this volume. I don’t care how good the food might be; I will never patronize this restaurant.
Please do not give this place your business. They have zero respect for you and your family. Called ahead and asked the staff if there will be hookah smoked at that time of 7:50pm, the lady specifically said “DO NOT WORRY ABOUT IT.” Anyone would interpret that as a NO. Now I reiterated that I have an infant of 9 months and do not want him inhaling second hand smoke. My food hasn’t even been out 10 minutes when I begin to inhale hookah... I DID NOT EVEN EAT HALF OF MY FOOD. After I spoke to the manager - Amed Madrid - and he had the audacity to say “I can’t believe my staff would say that. We do hookah every day.”That was it....He was offended that I was offended!!I was lied to. Point blank. I would have went somewhere else simple as that.I have never experienced anything like this before. What a lack of respect, but what can you expect from the Paterson location. Please take your money elsewhere.
Made reservation for two people got there, there was no table available the hostess was very rude I was very polite all the time , finally they got me a table, food was ok, steak was good , pasta was terrible no flavor , I did order a pitcher of sangria it was more ice was really bad 58.00 dollars for that I was expecting something good, IF YOU WHANT TO IMPRESS SOMEONE THIS IS NOT A GOOD PLACE
The food and restaurant is amazing! I tried 3 different main dishes and was left pleased and happy every time. Im always looking forward to going back for a real cooked meal, without me being worried that my meal was microwaved.
Worst place I have ever been to, food was horrible, serve was horrible, very very expensive. Parking was ten dollars, which the car was just park at a local place cant make that up. I was with a large group from work celebrating the holidays, total per person was 47.00 which included 3 hours of drinks and a very small portion of appetizer, the drinks were beers and sangria. The atmosphere was very Ghetto!!! Will never go there again.
I made reservations for my birthday on a Thursday for the following Monday at 4:30. I received a text message that Sunday stating it was for Monday at 5:30 instead of 4:30. So I called the restaurant to clarify the time that Sunday. To then be told the day before my birthday reservation that they are going to be closed on Monday. To my understanding it is to sanitize the restaurant. However, this is something that I should of been notified of days prior to my reservations instead of the day before. I think it was extremely irresponsible on their behalf
Went on a busy Saturday night with a big party, and the waitress over charged us for drinks. When we told the Waitress she said its impossible that she made a mistake and sent the manager over. He refused to take the drinks off. Other then that this place is great. Disappointed with this experience.
Came for brunch and the food was amazing!! Love the buffet style as well. Awesome music, great atmosphere and just overall a great place to eat, chill and enjoy some nice Latin music with family or friends.
Very disappointed in the way me and my wife were treated. We went as a walk in and were given a seat right in front of a party of over six people. Me and my wife were not comfortable at all. First of all that small table was barely 4 or 5 feet from where the other table was at. If I would have eaten at that table people were literally standing next to me. I asked if I could be seated somewhere else and there reply was thats all they can do for me as a walk in. Wow. They didnt even make the effort to tell me hey if you wait this much time we might be able to sit you somewhere else. I would have waited and gotten or drink or two in the meantime. I was not impressed. It was my first time at this location and my last. El servicio y el trato fue una mierda. I would not recommend. For a person like myself that goes out allot to restaurant thats not how you treat customers and tables there did not follow social distancing guidelines
Tremendo!! Went for Sunday brunch and enjoyed every minute. Food is very good, place is clean and the staff are professionals. Did I mention the music was outstanding!! Parking is tight but not impossible. I highly recommend.
It was nice music was loud.. but over all had a good experience.. very nice ambiance. That was pleasing.. the Pina coloda I had just didnt really do it for me..
Good customer service but I ordered food to go, when I got home it seems to me that the only spice they have is oregano. My wifes meal and mine were saturated in oregano, the food wasnt that great.
Come any other time except for brunch because they have the worst food avaliable and even the drink are so light you dont get much. And they dont refill them plus theyre so rude from the front desk to the male server we had didnt greet us they were like what do you want? And its not right.
I loved that there were the majority of male waiters and runners for drinks and the hookah. its a pleasant change from the regular and predictable girls in skimpy clothing. The service was good and the music was great.
This is probably the 5th time I celebrate something at this place and I’m honestly done coming here. Their customer service is absolute garbage, they contradict themselves constantly and only accommodate the people they want to accommodate. We had a party of 24 and they failed to acomódate us. Our brunch was from 330-530, they didn’t take our order until 430 and rushed us out at 615. Horrible customer service, this was enough for me not to ever come back moving forward.
This place to be in Paterson is an exception to the rule of what the town is usually known for.. decor is super, ambiance is passive and fun and food is impeccable.Usually free admission unless an artist is attending and on the weekend as well as brunch theres valet for 10$ little high if you ask me but it is what it is.Drink range from 7-18$ so also somewhat high for location but very well made... om certain days they have specials and during the day they are less inexpensive. Good is just amazing so far everything I had in this menu has been just exquisite... and at Time the venue will give mamajuana shots on the house ( for free )Bottle service very affordable but some of the table locations are not worth the money.. they serve hookah & there brunch is by far the best bank for the buck bottomless for 30$ for 2hrs and bottomless food, mimosas & jack punch.. but its. Very good and tasty brunch food selection.Only downfall is the valet cost and not in cohesive with the service of that cost. Only reason they get 4 stars.Check it our for brunch wont disappoint & rarely any young crowd usually grown.
Worst spot!!!! Over rated. Cover charge whether you get bottle service or not. went out to smoke a cigarette, and then threw my drink out. When I showed them proof of purchase of my drink on my cc, they owner and security guard told me well buy another one, its not their problem. If I can give less than 1 star, I wouldve. Dont believe the hype. Dont come here. First time to come to this place when friends referred me and last time!!!
Great place to enjoy with friends and family Brunch.. Great Services, Lots of fun, Music Amazing, Good drinks.. Staff very professional 💯.. Greatvto celebrate your birthday very affordable.. Highly Recommended this place..
Owner was slightly rude cause I had a friend with me who was 18 and she couldnt stand at the bar with me while I got my drink, forced her to get a little table. The table had no room to pull out the car and its a small table. We went to meet up with people and the hostess also directed to the wrong group. Music was okay but wouldve been nice to hear something other than bachata.
Used to love this place, always went for the brunch with the family. Havent gone in a little while since i live in PA, however i was excited to go this time again with family since the food and drinks are really really good. But to come and find out that now you need a reservation or they wont pay attention to you once u get in the door, they also have hookahs on at 2:30pm, on a sunday when people are eating. Im ok with the hookah, but first is a brunch where people go to eat with their kids, music was extreamly loud and there was smoke everywhere. Not coming back.
Brunch is over rated. They say bottomless mimosas, but they control what you drink 😆 they come around every 30 minutes or so to fill you up. The magu was watery and there were not a large variety to choose from. They did have ox tail which was good. Not worth the $50pp.
Honestly one of favorite places ! I had my 21st birthday brunch here last April since than this has been my all the time place for me. AMAZING food OMG & drinks. Love the atmosphere great Dj as well ! The red snapper is to die for 😩😩😩
Why I am giving to this place 1 star? Because its far away from being a Dominican restaurant. The food its tasteless and the environment isnt adequate for children, but if you like to hang in a bar with louder guest, this is the right place🤷♀️ to go to. Also its seems like a night time the restaurant turns into a nightclub, 🎵🎶🎵
