This was my first visit to Groovy Katz Salon. Tarra did a wonderful job styling my hair. Best visit, best styling I’ve ever had (and delicious hot tea)! Tarra is highly skilled, thoughtful and friendly! Delightful experience ! I am very pleased with the styling. I highly recommend Tarra and Groovy Katz.

Molly is terrific. I feel like she really listens, offers great suggestions, and is a true expert in her craft. I love my haircut!

Awesome experience as always. Ladies took care of my two daughters. The results look amazing, and they completed their hair ahead of schedule.

I came here for a blowout ahead of a wedding and Lydia was phenomenal. She was warm, efficient and very talented. The blowout lasted three days, she’ll be my new go-to when I am in the area!

This is my go-to place! I could not be happier. I have been told I have a very difficult hair color to match (strawberry blonde). I got my very first balayage here and was very happy with it (first pic). I wanted to go back to my strawberry color, however-- I felt like it would make my hair look healthier and less dry, especially with winter coming. Today, Tarra (and one other stylist whose name I cant remember right now-- Im sorry), really worked their magic! I included pics of my ends and of the full cut and color. The pics are in different lightings (dim versus bright), and I feel like they really capture how beautiful the color turned out, regardless of context. Thank you, Groovy Katz!

It’s always a great experience when I come to Rizzieri’s in Moorestown NJ for any treatment. Today it was hair color and highlight. Love, LOVE the way it came out. The staff and stylists were very welcoming, kind, warm and knowledgeable in their skill set. This is the second time I have been to Groovy Katz. I requested the same stylist as the first time. The hair cut was a bit shorter than I had wanted on the top half of my head including the bangs, but the lower half was the perfect length. She did an excellent job and I will definitely go back again.

My stylist Stephanie is very attentive and very talented. She carefully listened during my first consultation with me. Her application of my color has been perfect. I trust her when we discuss my haircut, and I have been very pleased. I feel that she is a true partner in my beauty routine.

Macey is absolutely incredible, and took such great care of me. I love my cut, and am excited to work with her while I establish new hair goals!Also, the coffee is strong- just perfect. ❤️

Chelsea always does such an amazing job on my hair and is so sweet and pleasant to talk to. I look forward to every appointment, it’s such a relaxing experience. My scalp and hair feels much healthier afterward.

The ambiance is stylin, clean, staff are professional and fun. Good background music. They offer drinks (coffee/tea/water). They call and remind you about appointments and are generally pretty flexible. Theres also a cool ceiling above the hair wash station that looks like stars--super relaxing. Perfect that its also next to a Java House.Rachel/Raye is awesome, so I usually see them. They makes sure they understand what youre talking about and ask clarifying questions to make sure you get exactly the hair you want (in my case this meant understanding the difference between a modern edgy bob and a Karen situation. I had several soccer mom cuts before finding Raye lol). They’re great with color, bold/edgy type stuff and always supportive + creative if youre ready to try new things. Also they don’t force awkward conversations which is my biggest pet peeve about hair places.Edit: pronouns

I have been looking for a salon that I can go back to reliably for a long time and I finally found one. I have had my hair cut here by Chelsea once, but will definitely go back. Chelsea gave me a great haircut and overall experience. She listened to what I wanted, offered me some great advice, was so friendly. The entire staff seemed very nice and the prices are reasonable. I would highly recommend groovy Katz to anyone looking for a salon.

I followed my stylist to this salon. I must say I was impressed. They were very busy when I went but, things seemed to be running smoothly. They have a great support staff who take care of the little details and keep things running so you dont have to wait too long. There was a lot of chatter and it was apparent that many of the customers were repeat business and know their stylist well. I am looking forward to continuing to visit in the future.

I have relied on Amy and her talented staff for all my hair styling and product needs for years. They always listen to my ideas, give helpful feedback, and send me out into the world looking and feeling my best! I was very cautious about entering any business during the pandemic, but when I walked into the salon I was impressed. All the precautions in place made me feel very cared for and safe. I couldnt recommend this business more highly!

After a few painful months, I thought to get get a fun and funky color and cut to my hair cheer myself up. But the stylist messed up the cut and the dye job was yet another disappointment. The salon did make an effort to fix the cut. But I ended up with shorter hair than what I wanted.To add insult to injury prior to the cut the stylist asked and I agreed to let them take before photos of my long hair. But after the cut and color I dont recall her asking for or taking any after photos. Granted this is not the worst haircut and dye job Ive gotten, just the second worst. Still when the styist doesnt bother to ask if they can take the after photos it tells you what they really think about what they left on your head.

I have very thick, curly hair that many stylists havent been comfortable cutting. Callie is your girl if youre looking for somebody with a real talent for cutting curls. The first time I met her I asked for curly bangs, and she knocked it out of the park. She listens to exactly what you want, gives a great second opinion, and takes the time to provide exactly what you want. Her whole attitude and enthusiasm towards styling only makes the experience even better.

While booking my appointment I clearly Mentioned need someone for my toddler who can handle kids with patience. Really the person who came right after 5 mins neither she was quick with her hair cut skills or never stopped you can come some other time. Kids will definitely not just stay in a place that’s why I asked for someone who can do with patience. Would never go again. Will not recommend definitely

After my previous go-to salon shut down unexpectedly, I had to find a new place to get my hair done. Im usually super picky about where I go, but Groovy Katz does NOT disappoint! As soon as you walk in, everyone is so welcoming and friendly. I get my hair done with Jordan, and she is just a ray of sunshine! She listens to exactly what her clients want and does her best to follow through. Plus, her scalp massages are AMAZING.

We just moved to Iowa City from Los Angeles and I was looking for a place to take my 2year old boy Benjamin to get his haircut. My father in law told me about Goovy Katz and let me tell you!!!!!! That’s our new hair salon! Shawna was absolutely wonderful with my son and so patient while he observed everything happening around him. She was ready for us when we walked in with an extra chair right by her station for me. And my sons hair turned out just like I wanted it! So so so happy! Mama is next for some hair treatment!

Love this place! The renovation looks so chic, and everyone is so friendly! I get my haircut by Rachel, who does great work on long hair. I dont normally stick to one person for my haircuts, but I trust in Rachel to do her best and put an artistic eye on my cut.

We came here to get ready for a wedding. The ladies were so nice and so helpful. Brittany was my stylist and she did such a good job. We had great conversation and she made me look so beautiful. Oh! She got my hair to stay in through all the dancing! They offered us all coffee and tea and water right when we got there. They were super cool with the videographer coming in and shooting us while we were getting ready. As an added bonus they have a cute little coffee shop right next door.

Excellent salon and stylist. Michelle has done a great job every visit. Ive been making alterations requests to my cut and shes fantastic at suggestions & figuring out what I want even when I dont. And my husband is jealous he doesnt get head massages which has become my favorite part. 🥰

Got my first post-quarantine haircut here, thought I’d go to a salon for a cut instead of your cheaper options just to get it right. Everyone was super friendly, half capacity due to restrictions so it was quiet. I was expecting something around $35 but it ended up being $42 so a little more than I was expecting, about twice what I normally pay and it wasn’t a twice as good haircut which is why I gave them 4/5 stars. Because I haven’t paid for a haircut in 2 months I guess this cut levels out my expenses but it would be nice if they offered student discounts or something.

Everyone was super kind and supportive, and the atmosphere relaxing and inviting. I was able to communicate the hair cut and style I wanted and my stylist, Liesl, did a fantastic job!

This was my 2nd visit, and I loved having Jordan cut and color my hair! She did an amazing job, I can’t stop looking at m hair! In one day I’ve had several compliments from strangers. And the shop was super accommodating of my toddler who somehow managed to stay entertained in her stroller for two hours!

I LOVED Maci!!! She’s absolutely beautiful inside and out. The atmosphere was so therapeutic, relaxing and def help me just he able to just destress!!!

Amy was amazing. I have been trying to grow my hair out and Im always nervous to get it cut and lose the progress I have made.She managed to clean up my ends and shape my layers without losing any length. I feel like I have a fresh new cut and Im super happy would definitely recommend 10/10

I had gone to a previous salon to get my hair dyed and they ended up ruining my hair by making it a brass color. I was in desperate need of someone fixing the mess on my head since I didnt have much time before my wedding that was going to be out of the country in less than a week. I went to Groovy Katz salon and the service was AMAZING! They were so accommodating since I wear the hijab and they did a fabulous job redoing my hair. I LOVE IT! I will be coming here from now on. I recommend my stylist Callie Hahn.

Got my long hair cut really short by Rachel! I was super nervous about such a transition, but she did an excellent job and I am so happy with my new look! The atmosphere is nice too, will be back again for sure. :)

This salon is super cute and modern. I love the twinkling lights over the shampoo bowls! Devon is awesome; super fun and does a fantastic job. She always makes sure to ask lots of questions and look at any pictures you bring to make sure she gives you exactly what you want. I was nervous to try bangs again after some bad experiences, but I got the perfect fringe from Devon. People compliment me all the time! Parking can be a bit tricky, but the staff are welcoming and try to accommodate your appointment time requests. I like it a lot and will keep coming here even though its way across town for me!

Amy cut my daughter’s hair. She took time to listen to her desires and treated her with such kindness and empowerment. She can’t stop telling me how much she loves it and that it is EXACTLY what she wanted. “Amy is magical!” We were warmly welcomed, and had a wonderful experience all around!

The ladies there were friendly and personable. The hair stylist that cut my hair was an absolute sweetheart. I commend her for working during this pandemic and being 8 months pregnant. I will definitely be going there again.

Ive been on the lookout for a new hairstylist in the area and tried this salon. My cut and color were just okay - not the quality I expected after reading other reviews. To be honest, Ive had a much better cut and color at other salons in Iowa City. Ill continue my search for a new stylist elsewhere.One thing that did bother me was that they seemed to be big on up-selling services. Every hairstylist that was working that day tried to get their client to get add-on services, such as deep conditioning or protein treatments. In the end, I felt a little icky about the amount of money I spent compared to the quality of service and overall experience.

I went to Groovy Katz for the first time yesterday on a recommendation. Jordan cut and styled my hair to look just like a photo I showed her! (I generally expect that my hair wont come out looking exactly like I imagined, but it did!) On top of that, Groovy Katz is taking serious precautions for COVID, even sanitizing the pen and handing it to me with a kleenex. I would definitely recommend this place. Thanks Jordan!

Got eyelash extensions here a couple of times.. looked great at first but sadly they did not stay on long enough even when I was very careful with them. Got it done at a different salon and it lasted much longer even when I was a little bit more rough with them and they looked more natural.

Devon is the best! I have tried other locations and other stylists - none have compared! She helped soothe my hair from the damage and fry-nest that it was - to the roots growing out shiny and healthy still looking fab.I’m thinking about my next style!

Rachel is my go to stylist at Groovy Katz. As a girl with fine hair and ringlet/kinky curls it can be hard to find someone who knows what will work whether my hair is straight or curly. She gets it and has helped me find products that enhance and protect my hair. Groovy Katz also occasionally has great deals on their Aveda products.

I really love the friendly staff. I have always had a great experience while being a customer for many years. Most recently, I appreciate the cleanliness and Covid-19 precautions they have practiced. It definitely made my recent visit a great experience and not to forget, a great haircut too! Thank you Grovvy Katz!

Worked with Groovy Katz for our wedding, they were great! They got my hair and make-up spot-on, we had the place to ourselves the morning of my wedding which was great, and we had so much fun!

No complaint with my normal stylist but was booked an appointment with someone else for event hair and makeup. Worse experience of my life and will never go back for anything EVER! She had ZERO idea what she was doing.

My hair was messed up so terribly that I had to go back to my old stylist in Urbana, IL only to have her strip my hair and dye it correctly. It was nice that when I emailed the salon about the stylist doing the complete opposite of what I asked for (wanted blonde on top, dark purple on bottom) the owner offered to try to fix it with highlights. Had a wedding to attend that weekend and it definitely helped my hair look better than the awfulness before but it just needed a restart thus the stripping....I have tried several salons in Iowa City and every one Ive tried seems to not know much about coloring hair. Will continue to drive 4 hours to Urbana IL to get my hair dyed correctly

Devon always does an awesome job cutting my hair! Never have I left from the salon thinking, “What was I thinking!?” :P. That’s a a big plus! Super thankful to have such a talented hairstylist in my life! :)

This was my first time at the saloon. Very disappointed with my stylist. She was sweet but didn’t know how to manage my hair at all! She didn’t seem very skilled at cutting hair and was kinda clumsy in the way she was handling my hair.

Love this place! They have Aveda products but they dont push them on you. Which I love. I have gone to many different hair salons until I found this place and I have stayed put! Prices are very reasonable and always leave with a huge smile on my face!

Brittany cut my hair tonight, and I think she did a great job! She asked what I wanted done to my hair, and not only did she do what I asked, she also gave me suggestions and tips on how to style my hair.

I move a lot for work so Ive been to salons in dozens of states. Groovy Katz is by far my favorite! Everything about the experience from the atmosphere to the knowledge and skill of my stylist, even the tea, were stellar!

Was very encouraged to go here due to the reviews however my experience was a disappointment, the wax took maybe 5-10 minutes and was so more painful then it’s ever been anywhere else, and i’ve been going to another place for 2 years. Left with my skin very irritated and what looks like bruises. Would not recommend getting a wax here.

The owner, Amy, my former boss and a friend is one of the most amazing people in my life. She is very open to whatever your dreams may be. She will support you in every aspect of your life....as a owner, as a boss, as a customer and as a friend. The employees she has that support the business is a family. I just went to Groovy Katz for the first time. I got an adorable haircut! They listened to me, and gave me exactly what I wanted. I cut off really long hair into a pixie cut, and it turned out really well.

Got a haircut for my three year old son. Despite trying to get corrections made while there, still with very choppy poorly done haircut. Staff was fairly friendly though.

Stacy did a excellent job on my daughter and me. She truly listened and managed to to do an superb cut on both of us.
