Chatos Bar and Grill

Hands down one of my favorite places to visit in Downtown Santa Ana! The food is prepared fresh, the drinks are tasty and the staff is always helpful. I recommend visiting for happy hour and be prepared to carry some change for the parking meters.

Wow! Fantastic flavors. Really great food. The service was super friendly. Very low key atmosphere.it was very quiet at 7 on a Tuesday but by 8 it had filled up with more customers. Will definitely eat here any time I’m in Santa Ana area.

Great little spot in downtown Santa Ana. I was working at an event nearby and had 2 Tacos, one fish and one carne asada. tortillas are homemade and everything was made fresh. Really cool vibes.

If you haven’t tried Chato’s it’s a must try! Taco Tuesday is amazing. They have deals on tacos and drinks. The ceviche is the best. Staff is really friendly and the chef makes flavorful food that keeps you wanting more. Cucumber marg is refreshing. Atmosphere is great. They have music and tv’s all around. Cool cause they have an open kitchen so you can see what the chef is preparing. Loved it!

Amazing experience. The food was phenomenal. The drinks were great. This is definitely a place to go and have amazing time. Highly recommended and a must. I will definitely be back when I visit. The Shrimp Aquachiles is my new favorite food.

Solid drinks, fresh made tortillas make for great tacos. Definitely check Chato’s out for happy hour or the Thursday night game.

Great Cocktails, Service and Atmosphere. The bartenders are Amazing!

This is a great spot. Ive been here a few times to hang out, and had some very good meals. The staff is always amazing and have great hospitality. Gio was the best! Today though, I had the shrimp ceviche and was completely blown away. I ate it before I thought to take a picture. This was the best ceviche Ive ever had. You have to order it and thank me later!

Came for a late lunch. Great food. Had the aguachile, guacamole, and an Al pastor taco. It was fantastic. The aguachile was perfect, with just the right amount of lime. Al Pastor is my favorite. The guac was really good too.Will definitely come back to try dinner.

Came to meet up with a few friends for Sunday Football and from the outside the place doesnt look like much but once you get inside its very nice.Venue - Newer renovation with decent seating in main area and off to the side, bar area is nice with a few tvs, and everything is nice and kept up.Staff - People here are very nice and friendly.Cost - Not sure as I didnt take care of the tab this time around.Food - Was here for drinks but from what friends said it is very good.Drinks - Great selection and good pours.Overall great place and worth checking out.

Great food, drinks and staff! Plenty of TVs, so a perfect spot to catch any game. The food is absolutely delicious, highly recommend the costras or chatos fries. Unfortunately on the more expensive side, but thats the only detractor.

Oh mylanta! This place is AWESOME!! We arent from around here, and when youre looking for decent food and an adult beverage, you cross your fingers & hope for the best. But we sure got lucky when we walked into this place! The bartender knows how to mix his potions. All 3 of us were happy with our cocktails. And the food was FAR beyond our expectations!! The food was served up like art! You can tell that their Chef loves what they do & has some major skills. Were only in town 3 days, but each of us wants to go back before we leave town!!!

Was in the area and quickly googled where to get tacos and margaritas. Chato’s popped up and I’m so glad we chose here. The tacos were all AMAZING, and unique! Very filling for just getting two a la carte. Also really liked the chips and guac. Hibiscus Margarita was a win too. Super friendly staff and liked the ambiance for an early dinner.

The service is bad. The only decent bar tender is the African American guy his cool professional and makes delicious drinks. The bartender woman are on their phone and you better not bother them cause the cop an attitude. Ill just head to copper door for a drink way better service

Came in for a quick meal, Denya helped me and she was great. I asked her opinion on which tacos to order, I had the fish taco and the El Pastor. I really enjoyed the fish taco and next time would get two.... or maybe 3.

Food was good! I had one NY steak Taco, that was definitely the highlight, I think it was $6 for one taco, tortilla, crisp cheese layer, guac, ny steak, salsa and garnish. I then went for 3 more happy hour tacos, which were not at all required but I did it anyway because life is short. Chicken taco from happy hour was $3 if my memory serves me correctly. The tortilla is very soft, and feels natural or at least fresh. NY Steak taco not pictured!

It was just okay. Some of the food very good - steak taco was terrific, some just not; theres a reason nobody puts mash potatoes into roasted chicken tacos.VERY limited beer and cocktail menu.Super friendly staff.They have a bit of an identity crisis right now based on the fact that they are trying to sell higher end Mexican food but the walls are littered with televisions.Difficult location, in the site of 3 previous failures, close to homeless central.I wish them well and would go back in a few months to see how it is..

Service was great! Food was amazing!

My husband and I had dinner there last night and they had the fight on, we were surprised!! They took our temperature before going in the restaurant. The food, drinks, service and the atmosphere was GREAT!! We noticed as some people were leaving, they wiped the tables and chairs down for their next guest. We feel really safe and we will be back next week. We had a great time & xperience at Chatos!! Make sure you rsvp bc it does get crowded.

A gem of a spot. Food is outstanding. The bartenders make a great drink. I like the Old Fashioned and their IPA. Cant go wrong here. Try the shrimp taco and the Hamachi ceviche.

If you want flavor packed food this is the spot. Good vibe very chill. Good drinks and friendly service. A must go. Chile guero taco is a must.

Tonight was one of the worst experiences Ive ever had at a bar/night club. My fiancé and friends (9 in total) were enjoying some drinks, dancing and overall trying to have a great time, it was our first first time after all. All was going well till this woman who was in the sitting area/vip section decided to just throw her drink at my fiancé and I. I asked the gentlemen with her if he could tell her to apologize and I got nowhere. I am a respectful citizen and I did not want to escalate the situation so I spoke to a member of security who told me his name was Eric (if that was really his name) and he said he tried talking to them but they didnt listen to him before and also told me that the couple were friends of the owner to which I said I care about your safety so I dont want these people to do anything to you but imagine if you were here trying to enjoy your time with someone and you were treated this way, to which he said I understand but I cant do anything about it so I said I understand and we shook hands on it. I simply could not let this pass, my shirt was soaked with the stench of her alcoholic drink and so was my fiancé, I came here to enjoy my self and unwind, not to ruin my day. Once the lights went on, I decided to leave and walked to the front security area where I asked the gentlemen at the front, excuse me, which security company runs this place? He did not want to provide me with his name or the security company and I figured he was just giving me the run around which I did not enjoy so I decided to leave after all. And here I am folks writing this review and I wish I could give it zero stars because the way the security ran this situation was not right and I hope this does not happen to other folks.

Was blessed to have had a couple of Chato’s experiences ahead of the grand opening and I can tell you personally that it’s worth the wait and hype! Vamanos!!!

Small new spot in santa Ana serving contemporary Mexican cuisine. Went in the late afternoon on a Friday & was fortunate that it was too busy. Started off with sweet potato tacitos & ellote of which I really liked ellote with green pepper maybe because it didnt have crema or cheese that seems to detract ellote sometimes. Fish & shrimp tacos were both good also but what stood out was sweet corn tamales which were excellent. They even gave out a free shot of tequila. 🅰️$Ⓜ️@®🇵🇸

Had some GREAT tacos here. By all accounts from my friends, the food is top-notch.Chatos is a hidden gem.

Such a hidden jem. Everything was perfect. I really enjoyed the shrimp ceviche and carnitas plate. Service was great.

Roasted chicken taco and guero taco were delicious, the Chile relleno, steak and fish were just ok. Very expensive, great presentation but ok on flavor.

This place has 1 of the best 👌 ceviches I ever had! It comes with chips and the days with it is so fresh.

Fun upbeat authentic Mexican restaurant with great food and service. The management is top notch.

Watch out for the Bartender ( female) trying to sneak in a premium shot in your tab) and when you call her out on it 2min after she served you. She denies serving you at all, SMH worst experience, ruined my night.

The food was really good. only downfall was forgetting to put our order in then hinting at us that we should finish fast because they wanted to close down food service to set up for something else

One of my favorite Mexican restaurants in the OC! The nachos are a must, elote is bomb, the vibe is excellent.

The bartender service was very good, but the food was very bad. We ordered an order of buffalo wings and they were poorly cooked, which made it possible to notice that they were already in the process of decomposition, the Caesar salad and the chicken were noted to be reheated and not fresh. Experience not to return and not to recommend.

Bad place for delivery people, first there is no place to park, then the service is bad and it took 10 minutes to grab an order and Ive already been here for 30 minutes so I dont recommend it
