Grotto Spa-Solana Beach

Yesterday my wife took me to try this new place, where the people who attended were very friendly. In discussion of the couple massage service, the man who worked on me was very good, focusing on the parts that I mention and with the ideal intensity. But on the other hand, my wife was having a really bad time. Her masseuse didnt speak any English and when my wife told her to stop or NO in that region of the body, she continued doing the same thing, and she just jept uncomfortably laughing would not call someone to help him translate as my eife suggested. My masseuse didnt even help and even took her away to help him with the cupping masagae portion. It was a time of discomfort knowing that my wife was not having a very good time and for that I cannot imagine us returning under the circumstances.

This massage was a traumatic experience for me and I don’t use that phrase lightly. After my session I had broken blood vessels all over my arms and bruising on my entire body after my massage. I requested medium pressure and was in pain throughout the entire thing. It was anything but medium. I asked for less pressure and she did not change either time. The woman was climbing all over my body and didn’t seem to have boundaries for appropriate vs in appropriate places to touch.No one seemed to speak English, even enough to communicate with their clients.Do not come here if you want a relaxing experience. Do not come here if you want a tailored or customized experience.I was an out of towner visiting for a trip with my family, so I don’t have to worry about coming here again, but please read all of the reviews before you decide to come here.

I have had a few massages here and they are hit or miss. The latest massage I received was terrible. My masseuse didnt seemed professionally trained whatsoever. She was basically just pushing my skin around and had no flow connecting her movements. Also she didnt speak any English so communication was not possible. Then she tried to type in a higher tip because she was dissatisfied with the what I gave her. I should have just given her no tip.

This place helps me so much. I have chronic back pain and their deep tissue massage is truly therapeutic!! The prices are reasonable and you can get a discount by buying packages. Thank you Grotto Spa!

Reasonable prices and peaceful ambience. 3 of us went together for 90 min full body massages. The massage therapists had varying degrees of skill - two not very attuned to personal preferences. Mine was the only one good at checking in to see if I liked the pressure she applied.We werent expecting hot rocks and didnt really want them, but everyone gets them along with a sugar scrub for feet. We would have preferred a deep massage on our feet, but they seemed to follow an exact process that didnt allow for specific requests from the client. Overall relaxing and nice, but I prefer a personalized massage based on my bodys needs that day.

I never do reviews but the one hour reflexology treatment was so amazing! The price is also very reasonable. Head to toe relaxation with the pressure adjusted to be comfortable for me! I called for an appt and they could get me in the next day! If youre visiting here, make time to fit this in and if youre a local and havent checked out this spa, youre missing out!

The outside window states that a 40 minute massage is $29.99...so we booked a 30 minute massage and when we went to pay, it was $40.00. I asked why they would not honor the same price as the 40 minute massage since my husband only had his shoulder worked on...and she insisted on us paying the $40.00....No customer service awareness in this establishment.

Woooo! That was one of the best deep tissue massages Ive ever had! My husband agreed. It was perfectly intense & relaxing at the same time. The atmosphere was beautiful & serene. Staff were kind & courteous. I think the value was exceptional.

Had many good massages here before but this one was a 0. Same for my husband. Not relaxing at all. Didn’t seem like they had any experience. We won’t be back.

All 3 times I came here massage was ok, but the second time I was there it was phenomenal. The guy had great technique second time. I like that they can almost always fit you in same day. Decent and friendly service.

Hands down the best massages I’ve ever had. I have been all over the world and this beats every 5* luxury hotel spa massage. Andy I had the first time then Wayne. Incredible technique and thorough full body 90 mins. I do a lot of activity so I’m really tight in the shoulders and I have 2 small children. This has literally taken the weight from my shoulders I’ve been trying to find a strong masseuse and in London this seems impossible. Sweet, kind and understanding when we had to postpone and wonderful value for money if you buy a package. I’ll be back next time I’m in town.

Im not the bitter person that finds a reason to share their overly entitled opinions online, so for me to do this, just shows the anger I have right now.So on Thursday I booked a 60-minute massage on their website, I received an initial confirmation they received it, with a further call-to-action that theyd be sending me a finalized confirmation. I received it the next morning (yesterday morning). Now, my back has been a mess, I was very much looking forward to this massage to ease some of my pain.Today comes and I head off for my confirmed 2:00 pm appointment, I arrive 7 minutes early. When I arrive, the receptionist begins with an already confused look and asks if I have an appointment. So I pull up my confirmation on my cell phone and she again, looks confused. I give her my name and number and she tells me she has no appointments in my name or number. I told her I booked online and she says, Oh. People usually call us for appointments. I didnt check online. There ya have it, that was the excuse why there was no availability for me, no rooms available.I was offered a 30 minute foot massage and 30 minute back massage (not for free, at cost). I took a pass on that.Grotto Spa will never get my money.

Cannot consider this place a massage spa. Not trained in massage. Non English speaking, did not give the service I reserved for and did not adhere to the appt time. Such a waste of time and money.

Zero stars. I dont think massage workers are licensed and trained. Most of the workers cant speak english.

The place was cute, the ladies were nice as well, I went in for an hr and a half massage and while it was nice, I felt a little uncomfortable; heres why. I went with my boyfriend and we both got same thing but felt like the massage was a little too much.. we went in for a massage and felt as tho we went in for a massage and some happy ending at the end. I felt it was a little too much revealing at some parts. The lady even kept seeing if I was looking and put a towel over my eyes so I wouldnt see what she was doing to him! I kept pulling it off! While she thought she was being slick, I caught it! Anyways wont be going back!

Dont ever enter this place! I felt extremely UNCOMFORTABLE and UNSAFE.I truly appreciate good, deep tissue massage from those kind of small massage spots, however THIS IS AN EXPERIENCE YOU DONT WANNA HAVE!The masseuse was extremely unprofessional, he made me feel uncomfortable and I asked TWICE NOT TO WORK ON CERTAIN AREAS,he ignored my requests and I felt unsafe.I paid and tipped as I wanted to give him benefit of the doubt and also because I was SHOCKED and was still processing. He kept starring on me while I was paying at reception.Reflecting back it was absolutely OUT OF THE LINE and now I am considering to take legal action.

Great spot! Nice communal rooms with very peaceful surroundings. Separate from entry so not a lot of traffic noise. Very easy to relax and enjoy!!! 1 hour for awesome rates. You get to specify when you arrive what level of pressure and any specific spots to focus on (or avoid). A new favorite!!!

The Grotto Spa in Solana Beach is so affordable I can make regular massages a priority. I discovered them through Groupon after moving here and became a regular client. Service, professionalism availability, quality of massages, facilities - all excellent!

Monica is my favorite massage therapist by far...she gives a great massage and is very professional...they have towels and oils and hot rocks in the room and that saves time and thus youre always being worked on... I buy the buy 5 get one free package and its totally worth it

Good messages at a great price. Its no day resort message, but if you looking for a good 1 hour plus message to relieve some stress or tension this is the place.

A little hit n miss with therapist but over all usually a 10. Especially $$ for value great hidden gem for the area! Can usually do a walk in.

I had a 40-minute foot reflexology session and it included a neck massage, a hand massage and a short hotstone and a foot peeling. It was great. I do a lot of massages and Roberto was great. And the price is unbeatable. Come back.
