Went to see Glass Spells in concert, we arrived a little early so we figure we order some food. The food was delicious & fresh to order, definitely will eat there again! The concert area was great, the drinkers were separated from the non drinkers by a barricade. Everyone there was a vibe & having a great time. The sound system is amazing and every performer sounded amazing! Ill continue to go there not only to eat & drink but for future concerts!
Great place if your looking for hardcore vibes or just generally anything of any genre, whether it be cupcake, loveless, DJ nights, Taylor Swift nights, emo, numetal, they have it ALL. These things usually start anytime after 6-7 from my personal experience. There are homeless in the area but are pretty much harmless. Theres food areas, and 2 bars inside the venue. They also provide water for $1! With the occasion of merch etc. Depending on the occasion there may or may not be some crazy/weird people. Not all the time, from what Ive saw its rare. Everyone there is usually a vibe and the security is amazing! Totally recommend.
Gotta experience the atmosphere for yourself. The events are an array of genres that allow a wide variety of attendees. The venue is not too small, nor too big. The employees here show that they care about safety but also wont allow nonsensical behavior. Strummers is the place to go to eat good food and have a great time.
Security dead eyed me and my brother for no reason and acted like they wanted to fight us and others in line. When an actual fight broke out in front of the building they didnt intervene. Police shown up and stopped the fight while security sat back and laughed. Someone yelled out something at the security while this was happening and security actually tried to fight them. The shows are still pretty cool when the venue is packed and the pits are going. But the last few shows I go to most people stand to the side and drink. Used to have good times here. I feel sorry for the owner because I hear he doesnt like how his security is either too chill or too hostile. Hope that gets fixed.
We were so excited for this event. I was sharing everyday on Instagram and promoting it. We got there late to opening because we both work and didnt get off until 8, we made it and waited 30 minutes for the mens restroom, no moving. We danced to a Hamdi song, and went back to wait. Another 30 minutes. I checked the womens and nobody was in there. I told my HUSBAND Ill go in with you. While he was peeing a women security opened our stall, I said he is peeing. She said stop Im security. I said hes just peeing Im here with him my clothes and shorts are on. I kept trying to explain but she just kept saying take him out outside all the way out. When we got out the front door I asked to speak with her she said no, told the security out front not to let my husband back in. We didnt argue and left. Ive been waiting for this event and Im saddened to say Ill never come back. I dont know what was happening in the mens bathroom for it to have the same people in the line for an hour and nobody check, but I just dont understand why nobody talked to his WIFE, who was with him in an EMPTY womens restroom at a club with over an hour wait for the bathroom.
This place always held a special place in my heart, but after my experience tonight; I will not be returning. I live in the area and frequent Strummers on a minimum once a week basis, often times attending more than once a week. I know all the bartenders/security for the most part, and have never had a problem in the 5+ years I have been going to the venue. I was enjoying Emo Night until I had a random guy try to fight me after claiming that I spit water on him. I didn’t even have a drink at the time, nor had I even seen the guy up until this point. It was obvious that he was intoxicated. Considering that all the security know me pretty well, I immediately brought the situation to their attention, and they did nothing. They essentially said to drop it, even though dude had repeatedly said he would assault me if he saw me stay at the venue. I honestly feel betrayed, and will not be giving them another dollar of my money if that’s how they treat “regulars”, especially if the situation is revolved around violence. I’ll surely miss the venue. Hopefully they get it together.
Went here on a Tuesday evening. The place wasnt too packed when we arrived, but got more busy as the evening progressed.Ive been here before since this is also a concert venue. Thats on one side while the dining area is on the other side. Recently, Libélula started cooking their food in the evenings inside Strummers. They make probably the most exciting food in the Central Valley. Farm-to-Table meals. I ordered their weekly special, the Italian Stallion Burger with homemade tater tots. The burger was amazing! Literally spaghetti in a burger form. The meat was tender. The sauce was housemade too. Their curry ketchup is. to. die. for! Housemade ketchup with the insane Indian recipe in it.The establishment itself offers 10 mainly local craft beers on tap along with a good selection of spirits.Overall a great place to hang in the evening with friends. They had karoake as I was leaving. If you Libélula cooking in there do yourself a favor and eat there! Highly recommended coming here.
This was the worst first experience ever! Unless you like to be physically assaulted, do not come here. My wife went to the restroom and was kicked out by a female security guard because she was taking too long. The female security guard even went out of her own way to grab my wife by her arm and pull her aggressively. When I asked the female security guard why she was kicking us out, she became defensive and began to make false accusations that I was raising my hand and verbally attacking her. Although I was upset about what she did, I still did not act out. I then spoke to the manager, and he began to take the female security guards side without listening to reason. I asked for her name, and the manager began to cover up the whole situation. He also insulted me because he felt intimidated. Every single security guard I encountered with was aggressive. I urge everyone not to spend money here. They do not respect customers at all! 09/01/23
Careful with security as they are very sensitive in what you say to them. Never seen a worst security team in my life. The only negative of the venue. Remove security, and the venue would have a much better environment.
This is my favorite place to go out for a night on the town. Great food, stiff drinks and the staff is awesome. Everybody from the bartenders to the security staff is friendly and genuinely make sure youre having a good time. Food is phenomenal (best burger in town), vegan options available for those that dont dig on meat too. Great place to watch a show too, the new sound guys know how to dail in the music. Karaoke on Tuesday is super fun too! Great atmosphere! 10/10!
Love the new pool table! and they actually have good pool sticks unlike other bars in the area that have junk pool sticks lol
Environment was great! Drinks are yummy! And you dont get ignored by the bartender
Update: (02/10/24)Their Disney Lovers Rave really disappointed. There was nothing disney about it. They did have 4 DJs and the first one did play 2-3 songs Disney related. The second one (Cheeks) did not play anything Disney. The third one tried but did at the end. The last one got bothered when we asked to play hakuna matata. We ended up leaving. Whats the whole point of making it a theme if they dont actually do their job. You can literally go to Spotify and find Disney rave music and have a good time. You guys had one job lol... At this point, we should be asking for money back?Pros:I did like their decorations, the fact that they gave mickey/mini ears, and enjoyed their photo backdrop. (Even though the photo thing wasnt working). Most of their 3rd party DJs have been bad lately. Disco night ended at 12:30am instead of 1:30. People still had to pay 20$.The DJs excuse was that there was no internet. I do enjoy when they have karaoke in the other room. Also, the bar at the restaurant area knows their mixed drinks. The other bar in the next room needs more training on the drinks.
Love the shows. Theme nights are fun and usually only $5 to get in. Drinks are usually pretty inexpensive besides on theme nights. Can get crowded on theme nights but theres usually plenty of space with the patio, and 2 bars. I always have a good time here.
I remember going here a few years ago to see a metal show, and for whatever reason, the bartenders wouldn’t even acknowledge my existence because I wasn’t on a certain side of the room on the other side of the barricade on the floor. It was humiliating. The security is also really aggressive. Steer clear of this venue.
Took my teenage daughter to see suicide Boys there and they had the Best experience at the cluband so did I as well. The service, the security all the staff inside and out were very courgile.Thank you it was the best experience with my teenage girls I could have had and ty to the Suicide Boys for the Music and Making Your Fans A Part of it.tytyty Strummers also.
Security is horrible they are rude and aggressive towards women. Kick you out for things you don’t do and won’t refund you. Apparently manager of security is Will who runs the worst crew and is a joke guy with braids and was disrespectful comments and was getting in my face. But yet they were outside the venue going up to random cars doing god knows what.
Neat place and hosts a lot events, but way too small for the amount of people attending each event. I went to 90s night and waited in line for a little over 2 hours before I could get in. They were literally counting how many people left and then letting that many people in. On the postive side the security guard and staff seemed friendly and it didnt take long to get a drink.
Its an ok bar. Really only go here if there is a good show. Definitely not a bar id go to regularly
Food is good! One person at a time in the males restroom, please! 🤣
Best joint to catch a show! Staff are great from the servers to the security.
Strummers has always had a great environment for intimate shows.
Great party would love to see more urban events
Small club with great venues, one section is for dancing and stage with a small bar and another section with booths, a full bar and outside smoking section with heat lamps. They have Latino nights to Punk.
Place is great for an outing with friends. They have events almost every week and themed, too! My favorite being Y2K night. They only thing I wish was structured better is the bar; the line can get chaotic and crowders always sneak in. Another thing when they play their music its more of music videos (sound effects and awkward talking included) maybe if they get just the music that would be great too keep the flow and hype going. Staff is very friendly place is clean as can be.
I gotta give it up to the security staff here. Ive worked in the security industry for almost 20 years, and spent a good part of that time working clubs and concerts. These guys were great. They let people mosh without throwing them out. I observed one of the guys taking the time to reinforce one of the barriers between the bar area and mosh pit, simply so people could keep moshing. Not only that, but when my friends daughter needed something to help with a medical issue (unrelated to the mosh pit) they jumped to it and helped her out.The security staff at a venue can make or break the experience. These guys made for a great night. Thank you Strummers!P.S. I hadnt been to this venue since it was called Starline. I love how they combined the venue with the old Starline grill to make a larger space. The smoking patio is still there, which is a great feature to have at a venue. It was a relaxing space to sit down between artists.
Door man stated he was not allowing any more patrons and last call was in 10 minutes. Referred us to another bar.
My number 1 favorite venue to see live music. Love it there.
Great place, great shows. Great people.. Ive been to several shows here over the years and it never disappoints
Nice place for a show—good sound, decent stage, easy views from anywhere, and drinks are reasonably priced.
I only go when It’s a performer I love but can’t conveniently see elsewhere. I attend regular shows and this is my least favorite venue to attend in Fresno. The security has a ego and tends to be biased their interest is how you get treated basically. I get it you’re security but they are disrespectful/predatory A lot of the staff seem unhappy.and drinks taste cheap but the price is cheap so you get what you pay for. The main problem is the security! They would benefit from a clean out in that dept. there’s a mid aged security guard that has long hair and usually had it braided. I wish I knew his name but always a respectful experience he is one of the good ones to end on a positive note It doesn’t go unnoticed.
You guys struggling to hire good help and just hire anyone? Your sound kid sevyn, 7, seven, has to be the rudest, most arrogant person Ive ever met, on top of being a horrible sound tech. Learn how to use the board, and run your monitors kid. Also, Treat your local bands better.
I went out for Y2K night and they were playing all the best music I grew up with. It was like a big party for people who grew up in the weirdest time for fashion. Themed nights are already a good time but going out with friends makes it all that much better. And I met some lovely women in the bathroom who complimented my shoes, so that was fun. Would recommend.
Theres nothing like listening to the Cure and sipping a good 50/50, I love the vibe and aesthetic of this place, Ive lived in fresno for 3 years and it was my first time going, this place has without a doubt become one of my favorite haunts
They had a nice atmosphere! I didnt really try much of the food, but I did try the fries. They were just the way I like them, crispy, flavorful and reasonably priced!Everyone there was friendly and the local artists were great! I enjoyed the music of all the local performers (Xiihab, Pockets, and BK) who were out tonight! I really enjoyed myself! This place is sometimes an all ages welcome establishment. I think thats great, because when I was a young adult not quite old enough to attend a lot of venues, but over 18, I was thankful for the places like this who allowed young adults and offered live music, art and culture. Plus, its in the Tower District!
I usually dont leave reviews - only if the experience was really good or really bad. In this case, the experience was pretty bad.I was finishing a music lesson from the academy close by and figured Id check out Strummers as I had always seen it when leaving and was curious. Since the reviews looked good I figured Id give it a shot. Who knows, I might find a great pub I could go to on a weekly basis after my lessons.I entered and was seated by a pleasant waitress. A bit later another waitress with colored hair (this is relevant later) came by to take my order so I ordered a beer, the artichoke hearts and a water. When the artichokes arrived, I had a few bites and couldnt really finish them as they were overcooked and tasted old. My waitress then arrived and asked if I was ready to order. I asked for her suggestions and she said the Shrimp dish was good as well as the Chicken Parm. I wasn’t feeling shrimp so I asked for the Chicken Parm. The food eventually arrived and right when I started cutting into the “chicken” I thought something was off. Sure enough, when I took a closer look it was brown. It was a chicken fried steak from what I could tell. When the waitress returned I asked her if I ordered chicken parm or something else. She said it was the chicken parm and I asked her to take a look to see if she thought it looked like chicken to her. She replied that she was color blind and couldn’t really tell. I thought it was weird that a girl with brightly colored hair was color blind. I wonder what color she thought her hair was… Nonetheless I’m the OPPOSITE of confrontational and didn’t want to get anyone in trouble so I figured I was just wrong and would eat the veggies and the pasta on the side.Eventually when she returned I worked up the courage to ask her to have someone else take a look just so I didn’t think I was going insane. She took the plate back to the chef and returned rather quickly to inform me that I was right and that they gave me an old chicken fried steak from the morning.WHAT KIND OF “CHEF” DOESN’T KNOW HOW TO TELL THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CHICKEN AND CHICKEN FRIED STEAK??I asked for the check at that point and thankfully she said I didn’t have to pay so I have to give them credit for at least that. Regardless I still wanted to pay for the beer I had so I asked her to bring me a check for that. I then paid and left.I’m sure the pub is great but my suggestion to people visiting: Be careful what they serve you and don’t be afraid to speak up like I was if something is wrong. My suggestion to the pub: Fire that “chef” before he does this to someone that will cause much more of a scene.
Nice and mellow. Great place to go(during the week)and just relax with a drink. It gets kind of busy on Friday and Saturday if you enjoy mingling with some folks. Also the bartender Kim is super awesome and really sweet.
Always good vibes. Great place to hang out with friends.
We had a good time in this place!!! The scurry guards told us they close at 1 instead of 2 as advertised in the web.. cool I guess.. it was death 💀.. give this place a solid 3 prob a 4 on a good day…
This is one of my favorite places in Fresno. Youve got to try their tater tots if youre gonna visit. I like this venue for concerts too and they always have good artists including local ones. They support and want to put Fresno on the map.
Havent drank here before, but when I went in to get concert tickets for a show in November yesterday, the bar atmosphere was a very relaxed one.I have been to 3 concerts there in their adjoining byuleing. Small club for roughly 400 people. Everything from hardcore punk music to underground hip-hop. Some great shows. Have hung out with some of my favorite underground performers after their shows. Great times to be had there!
Went for Latin trap night I was so excited to go but I was really disappointed, they played nothing but bad bunny and English. When you go to the bathroom it’s always like the staff jept going in there looking at you, I also got a call from my sitter I tried to take it in the hall way and I just kept getting harassed but these 2 guys that were staff one guy standing right behind me trying to like push me back into the club with his body and the other guy standing to the side of me looking at me! Never will I go here again!!!!
I freaken love this place. I go to shows here all the time! Its not always super hot in there like other venues. The food is amazing. Drinks are at a good price. The bartenders are extremely cool and nice. They have awesome events held there. Great atmosphere to hang out and drink and watch games too.
Visited on a Friday night. Seemed like a fun and lively bar. Quite a few people that were obnoxiously drunk so expect an atmosphere like that if visiting late night (not too out of the ordinary for any bar late night).Didnt get a chance to try to eat here so cant suggest that. They have an outdoor patio with heaters which was nice for the winter or outdoor eating/drinks.
Its not great, bar has incredibly limited options. Same 6 beers everytime I go there. As a bar its honestly disappointing as a venue its also disappointing
Only reason people still come here are because of bands touring and there’s not that many venues. The security go on power trips and abuse costumers especially if you’re on the smaller side or a woman. Very aggressive when security should try to avoid contact as much as possible. One of the security guys stole a pen and we know that because they hold them till you leave and it was a fresh full pod. The one with blonde spikey hair looking like a 90s boy band member at 45. The worst venue in Fresno. And that says a lot for it already being Fresno
The bartender literally said to me.”You don’t matter”“Nobody cares about you “It was a Saturday night and I just wanted a couple of cans of Modelo. I don’t believe I had ever met him before and I hope I never meet him again. I reached out on the phone can’t leave a message. Reached out on messenger with no response. This used to be a good place. Like 20 years ago👎
I went on a Tuesday and it was Karoke night. The atmosphere was nice and friendly. The drinks werent that great, had a better vodka and seven from the little bar around the corner from Stummers. I didnt have any food so unknown what its like but Id try going again on a different night. No pics to add and if its better the second time around Ill re-rate it.
Atmosphere and drinks and of course theyve got the most amazing cast of drink specialist aka, the bartenders.
I was there to see a concert. I am 52. I did not have a good time. Im sure younger people would and in fact do enjoy it, but standing for hours in a crowded room full of stinking hipsters was not my idea of a good time. the sound quality was not particularly great. beer was warm and expensive. long lines at the bar. I will say this. They could quadruple their bar sales with a couple of real pro bartenders. I could out pour that whole crew by my self.
DO NOT WAIST YOUR MONEY. Been here 20+ times as a local and every time is the same! Go to Goldsteins instead. Read for what you will endure no matter what night you go.Harassing customers in the restroom, severing incorrect drinks, gaslighting customers who report bad service, bullying tactics to not give refunds, gang mentality from staff, verbal abuse, physical misconduct and an unsafe vibe. The 50 year old “Security” runs this labyrinth and the dump next door like a Mob Boss. He verbally abuses young female customers and Mexican men of all ages. Him and his security (on his command) physically put there hands on everyone whenever they feel like it. They will swing open the females bathroom door randomly even if there is a line a men waiting outside. The staff aka the most intoxicated people in the bar, blame customers if they made a mistake. Then rally other “staff” to bully you from getting justice. If you as a customer speak up for another customer they will kick you out too. I get having co workers backs but they are just verbal intimidating people who don’t want their horrible service. maybe give them shorter shifts or don’t let them drink. Very embarrassing! At this point, the 50 year old “security” is the center of any and all drama. No matter what night I try to give this rats nest a shot he is kicking out young girls or Mexican men. This seems to be a pattern for this “security guard”. Feels like jail in there..He’s job is to make sure the place is safe but him and the staff become the only unsafe part about going here. Him and his crew of goons at the door make the handful of homeless sleeping outside seem pleasant.
Im here right now Im not a big drinker and the bartenders talk to me like I was stupid. I ordered a 50/50 thinking it would be sweet however it wasnt. When I went to ask for help to fix it or get something new they were not friendly in fact the male bartender was super rude even trying my drink I felt so insulted.I ordered a drink I paid for it they should service me and make me one feel comfortable and two customers right. Fix my drink. Or replace with equal value at least. Very 😞 disappointed. I do love the atmosphere. Was hoping for live music. Overall Id say good place cool people nice hang out awful bar service.
Great Venue! Staff were very professional, prepping the crowd outside by checking tickets and IDs.Sound for both opening act and main was superb. Bar staff were friendly and food was good too. Was a little worried looking at Strummers from Google street view, but no worries inside. Had a blast!
Came to see Devil Makes Three and really enjoyed the show and the atmosphere. I like that there are a few different areas of the bar where you can pick up a drink when its crowded, and my boyfriend was really glad that he could also get some tacos!! We will definitely visit again.
Fun venue. Good staff. The only thing needing an overhaul is the mens restrooms. Need more toilets. The line can get very long if theres a big crowd.
The only reason why I give it a four is because there are no windows and it is hot as hell in there otherwise the customer service is great. the bouncers at the front are very friendly and awesome they went above and beyond and made sure that my bags were safe outside in the front where they were and also let me go in with my coworkers who had tickets.
My favorite place for live music in Fresno. There is never a bad seat in the house. The venue is small and intimate yet the sound and vibe are big and bold.. Love it! Bartenders and bouncers are super cool too!
I love this venue!! Its not too big and not to small!! I go for the Metal shows. I get frickin crazy in the mosh pit!! Im 54 years old and I throw 20 year olds around like rag dolls!!!
This is THE place to catch fantastic concerts by up and coming bands...also hilarious comedy shows. Reasonably priced event tickets, good beer selection, yummy food. Located just a hair north of Olive in the Tower District, behind the Dollar Tree and next door to B of A bank (ATM available). Open in the afternoon and evening.
An amazing update to a classic establishment. The drinks are the same, the food is still amazing and the seating is better than it was. The bar lost some character with the remodel, but Im sure theyll work on that now that theyre open.
Visited on Halloween. Had a good time, met some new people, drinks were well made.Problem was that the service was slow. At one point, there were 3 people behind the bar just talking while customers waited. At the end of the night, they couldnt find my card and the woman bartender blamed me.i informed her that I had 1 drink and that she was out of line. Another patron said they did the same thing to him.I ended up getting my card back because a friend of mine (who had not been up to the bar with me at all) closed out my tab. What kind of bar just gives somebodies card out to a random person. I was very unsettled by this.My suggestion would be that if you go, dont leave your tab open.
Best place in Tower for live music hands down. Everything from rap to metal to kpop. You name it theres probably a band coming through to strummers at some point. Food here is amazing, Tacos are my personal favorite next to their burgers. Bartenders here are friendly, but not doormats. Everyone is welcome here. Tuesday nights are also karaoke night!
Best place to see your favorite bands. Always a good time. Shout out to security.
Such a fun spot but PLEASE invest in AC or some large fans!! It gets very cluttered and almost everyone I know mentions how hot it gets during summertime 🥵
I usually dont leave bad reviews but this place definitely isnt a 4 and a half stars. They have a bar on one side and a stage on the other but once you buy the drinks on the bar side they wont let you walk to the stage side. Its the most ridiculous venue set up Ive ever seen.
First time going this weekend and it was a great time! Drinks are great and priced good! Definitely coming back
Mellow venue with a comfy bar area and good security. I have to say I dont get why you cant bring drinks from the bar into the pit.
Strummers is a Decent venue for attending concerts. The food and drinks are okay. The security is what truly soils my time at strummers. I understand and respect they have a job to do and need to be blunt because there are Just too many adults that behave like children. My issue is the attitude and constant surveillance when Im sitting at a booth alone or with someone regardless and they pass by inspecting the booth multiple times and wont say anything. Strummers use to be a venue I enjoyed hanging out in but now I just roll my eyes whenever it gets brought up.
Really great place! They have a section for performances and an other section for bars. Everything is nicely organized and done well.
Most popular venue in Fresno for small and even big artists/bands. Unfortunately its small and gets crowded easily.
The service was amazing. We went to the Cuco concert and my girlfriend got super sick from heat exhaustion and the security and management (is the guy in the all black trenchcoat and cool hat management?) were SO helpful and kind. Instead of assuming she was drunk, they took the time to figure out what might be wrong and provides her water, food and advice. They were even nice enough to let her back into the venue when she felt well enough. Thank you so much!!!
It is a dive bar first and foremost. For example, the bathroom stalls arent attached properly to the walls anymore, there are comments on the written in too, and one of the womens restrooms is plastered with faces of teen icons from the nineties. The last part actually adds charms. It can be a little pricey for a group to see a show which may not be any good but its reasonably priced and one of the better evening entertainment places in Fresno.
I came here for a show they were having and Im so impressed by how great the venue is. Its hard to find great bar tenders like they have at this place. The layout is ideal. Probably my one of my top three venues is fresno.
This place used to be great. Last night we went out for karaoke and left early cuz the service was terrible. Bouncers are okay and the bald Mexican bartender has always been cool but the clean up boy and another bartender are ridiculous. When I asked the bartender what was in the Steph curry stout he hissed I dont have all day. I ordered it. It was wrong. He poured me a totally different drink. Stuff happens I thought. I went to order another from the bar and the Mexican guy gives me the right beer. When we were all done the clean up boy called me a child for playing drums on the table. Its cool to say dude dont do that but that threw me off I asked him if he had a problem and he cowered behind the bar saying I was this and that. If we ever go back I hope they hire some more professional people. This bar has potential, some of the staff leave a bad taste in your mouth.
Great local venue for punk rock and metal shows! Seen Nile, Cro Mags, Agnostic Front, TSOL, Agent Orange, Brujeria, Subhumans, Vio-lence, Napalm Death and many more.
Took my 15yr old daughter to an all age event...plenty of security guards and minors were clearly identified and id-ed...awesome vibes ...felt safe ...would definitely returned 🤟🎶
This is the hipster dive bar of Fresno. Its cool because theres a good mix of regular people and its not a pretentious place. Its a pretty ok place to check out if youve never been, or if theyre having a 90s music night or NYE celebration.
Strummers is a great little place for shows in general. One of the few local venues still doing small shows in an intimate atmostphere. Its located in tower and the atmostphere is always good here.
The Experience was awesome seeing a bartender name Gabriel work harder than James Brown. They said that James Brown was the hardest working man in Showbiz. God bless his soul theres a new sheriff in town Gabriel is the hardest working man in Showbiz no matter how backed up know matter how long the lines are his mind is focused on giving a hundred and 110% to the customer. Always his attitude is kick ass take names as a work ethic he gets from his father and grandfather its a pleasure knowing this young man he has incredible work ethic I hope that the venue recognizes that and appreciates that. I also WOULD like to thank the Men responsible .
Hands down dopest dope in Fresno. Always super fun. Live shows multiple times a will. Great beer selection cool bartenders. They play the games on Sunday. Whats not to love
Really cool place. First time there and I loved the layout how the smoking section was a separate part of the bar, but was still inside. Great drinks, karaoke, and cool crowd. Definitely going again. 5/5
I mostly come here for the music entertainment but the food was pretty decent and so were the drinks. I really dig the vibes here. Also the security guards are cool. Any time I went outside to get some air they were always friendly
Great venue. Show was great. Bartenders and staff are excellent. The pizza was very good.
One of the best places in Fresno to see live music, have drinks and food. There are two walled off areas of Strummers: The Strummers venue, and the Strummers grill & bar. On the grill & bar side, their 2022 addition of Libelula at Strummers updated the Strummers grill with addition of a menu of amazing food made by amazing chefs that have their original bistro site open in downtown Fresno, and gained a reputation for magnificent gourmet food; With the expansion of opening the 2nd Libelula site inside Strummers, it makes combining local businesses into creating amazing things happening in Fresno for nightlife. The bar on the grill side features a wide range of craft, domestic and import beers, additionally spirits, cocktails, signature cocktails (my favorite is If Music Could Talk), mocktails and soft drinks. The bartenders are very friendly, fun and diligent in service. Live music is sourced from prominent touring acts and local artists & bands as well, there is also DJ hosted themed dance nights such as 1980s New Wave/Rock/Pop, Y2K Pop Hits, Motown Night, Hip Hop Night, Emo Night, and Goth Night. Venue side is spacious for small to medium venue size with a bar that is cordoned off by barricade and monitored by security guards ensuring 21+ only inside the section. It allows the venue to have all ages or 18+ events in this manner, and some events restricted to 21+ only.
Worse place I ever been too! The owner there is even worse ! Idk how this place stays open for business! The security guards have such an ego is crazy I highly recommend don’t come here !
Tiny little hole in the wall venue, but they continue to book good bands that dont break the wallet. And since they ditched the all vegan restaurant concept Im actually very likely to buy food there before/during/after shows now.
The drunken idiots complaining about the bouncers doing their job and staff being short with them utterly miss why this is a great venue...the shows. There is a lot to complain about in Fresno, but since Strummers opened, seeing a great band is no longer one of them. This place books legends like X, Peter Murphy, Reverend Horton Heat. The kind of acts that youd normally have to travel to LA or SF to see. This is the best kind of place to see a band too. Small, intimate, laid back. The kind of place you could reach out an touch the band. Overall, the crowd is good here too, at least at all the shows Ive been to. It reminds me of my formative years seeing punk shows in LA.
The place to go for live music in an intimate venue. If you want to get up close I mean really really close to your favorite performers Strummers is the place. They have two full bars during performances and a late night kitchen that makes great burgers and tacos. Some vegetarian and vegan options too Thai tacos are to die for. The ticket prices are rock bottom. Pay attention to your favorite artist tours and if they booked Strummers you need to make it to that show. Bigger name artists can sell out the venue easily so dont wait till the last minute to snag your tickets. Just be aware the security is pretty strict, no weapons or any of the normal no nos drugs/booze ect are allowed inside. But on the flip side it feels pretty safe! A lot of shows are even all age events so if you wanna bring the kiddos to rock out too its often an option!
Witness a grown 50+ year old man (security) talking very derogatory towards a young woman (customer) last night and it was the most appauling scene I’ve ever witness. Decided to go to Goldstein’s instead after that encounter. Why would I spend money or support an establishment that allows their employees to degrade female customers.
Awesome venue, great seeing Meg Myers, but one of the bartenders is a total douchebag. Doesnt give me the right drink, and then openly embarrassed several other customers for not tipping. Decided not to to tip because of that, and douchebag tries to call me out on it on my way out. Just smiled and walked away. If it wasnt for that tool: 5 stars. Never drinking here again.
Everybody loves Strummers. A must stop on any pub crawl in the tower. They often have great music and bands that one would not expect would be is such an out of the way place. A true treasure. If you come to Fresno, don’t miss it.
Amazing Venue, super professional and friendly staff! Very intimate setting and I was there for a Metal show. This venue is now on my hit list of places to watch.
The best place in Fresno. I saw a new band here! Some of my heart lays here. The band I saw is now my favorite band for life. This place helps shape me as a rocker and metalhead and inspires me in music
I have been going to strummers since it was called the starline, its one of the only places that caters to the metal community. That being said, security hassled me over my id so i was forced to enter as a minor even though im 25. Drinks are expensive but it didnt matter because security was ridiculous. I digress. Aside from that, the venue itself is kinda small but its great when bigger bands come to play. Its more intimate.
Its a bar....and a grill. They have live music, which is also good. 4/5 because the bartender was attractive, but my beer was barely above room temperature.
Security and male bartender are rude and childish. Too much drama to enjoy the venue.
Always a cool spot for a beer and some music 🤙 .they have a good patio if you smoke and nextdoor is a venue for bands that come to fresno
I am disabled. I told the security guard i wld comply dont touch me. I wld jus comply but he put his hands on me no matter. it made him feel big i guess i dk. Seems like they got each other backs no mater who they physically hurt. Wont go back for sure.
Strummers is a good venue because of the type of shows they book there. Other than that the food is salty af (and I prefer salty food too, but their food is super salty even for me!), and the venue may feel a little closterphobic since it is pretty small.
Good experience. Great place to perform. Highly recommended.
Great staff, great venue. Was the most well ran respectful mosh pits Ive ever seen. And they let you crowd surf. 11/10 concert venue
I have always really liked Strummers alot. Its probably one of my favorite bars in Tower. I also happen to love emo music. You can only imagine how excited I was when Strummers announced their emo night was on September 7th. I had a great time at their first one in January 2016.This one was just okay. I do understand that it is what you make of it, but there were a few larger issues. I really dont think I will be back to another emo night because they charge you $5 to listen to a playlist. Not even a playlist you can request a song for.The entire night 3 people were up on stage just messing around, and staring at an Mac Book screen pressing play. That costs me $5? $5 to listen to a playlist and still by two drinks for $8 each. Which again, I dont mind buying drinks. I just truly dont understand what I am being charged for. The venue was no where close to being full so obviously this whole pay to listen to a playlist thing just isnt working. When we went up to ask for a song we got sorry. Its just a playlist. I cant change it. So 3 people on stage to literally let the computer play music? Really? Why did I pay money for that?I love strummers, I love emo night. But I can stay home and listen to a playlist that I made, and drink beer I bought for much cheaper. Such a bummer that a cool event has turned into a blatant cash grab.
Place is a mess, toilets were dirty toilet water everywhere and a whole in the wall of womans bathroom. Place is falling apart. Its cool for concerts but needs more love.
So Saint Patricks night.. my friend and I go in... sit at the bar.. both order irish car bombs.. told they are out of baileys. People next to us order the same and like magic 12 seconds later there is baileys. My friend and I were not drunk or crazy. Love this bar. Been here a million times.. but tonight worst service Ive ever recieved. The bar tenders looked right through us 5 times.. severely dissapointed after such amazing service at the Dead Kenedys show. Personally I dont understand how I have money to spend and its no good at a place I thouraghly enjoy visiting on a regular basis. I hope there are some improvements made in rapid fashion.
Always have fun at karaoke. One complaint is you can hear yourself singing because of the way the speakers are set up. But still good.
Cool laid back spot to hang out and have some drinks. It does get pretty loud when it gets packed. Known for live shows like Brother Ali, Atmosphere, and Murs ect.
The impossible burger (vegan) was great! Servers were also super friendly and offered us a drink for having to wait. Highly recommend!
Tower bartenders and drinks are great. I cant do cigarette smoke anymore. It kills the experience for me as much as 20 something old me is roller her eyes at me.
Treated to Back to Black an Amy Winehouse Tribute, by my son. What a great atmosphere and very friendly staff! A perfect evening...
As we stood in line waiting to see the Melvins, just the latest band the owners of this intimate venue have brought to Fresno, those of us older folks shared stories of bands we saw way back when. The guy I was talking to brought his two sons and a grandson, all schooled in the history of rock and roll. Hed been to concerts all over the place, including a couple by the Melvins. This was my first Melvins show. I heard of them being quite familiar with the Seattle Grunge scene. But I never really listened to their music or saw them in concert. Strummers gave me the opportunity to rectify this, and they put on a great show. Opening for the band was another three-piece called the Spotlights. They were hard and tight, not overly melodic. But then their vocals were mixed too low. The Melvins on the other hand were pros. They knew their equipment and it was perfect. We were all right there for the action. And there was moshing, crowd surfing and stage diving. Not something Im into, but it was kept quite civil. The capacity for the club is listed at 287, and it appeared full. But everybody was polite and more into having a good time than causing anybody undue concern. Overall great experience. Fantastic venue
Great, the bouncers and bartenders know my style and make me feel so welcomed. Best place in tower.
Had a Hamburger with just a bottle of Heineken... Quite delish! Also Vegan and Vegetarian friends.. theres quite a few food selections for you!!
I liked how intimate the club experience is. It was alot of fun to see bands play there. The drinks and chili cheese tater tots are delicious.
To go to a certain concert ….a band .. can say you have to be vaccinated? Doesn’t make any sense let’s just forget about our freedoms … wouldn’t support this band “AJJ” never even heard of them . Just lost business….. You let a “band” say only certain people could go inside your place …
First time here at this bar. I had a great time drinking different types of mixed drinks and bartenders are nice and friendly. I will come back in the near future.
Lovely help and very energetic spirits. Always a good time and karaoke night is the best in tower district!!!
Strummers was really nice. It is considered a hole in the wall. Lol. But its one of the best hole in the wall spots for entertainment. The DJ played great HipHop music. I was visiting from Compton CA and had to see DJ Quik. The show was great. I will definitely return to Strummers again.
The outside-attached bar is awesome if youre a smoker and want to sit at the bar. Its a really rad spot and the food is pretty good.
Robert Deloney best show yet. Awesome art shows on Monday. Im off Monday. Its the place I can get away into adult time
First time at this place from out of town and was by far the best place I went to out of 5 bars. Amazing food and music. Had a blast
I was at Livingstons not strummers. Great visit as usual
Strummers Fresno has really gone downhill over the past few years. From homophobia and not allowing people to use the restrooms they identify with, to having grown security guards yelling and cursing in the face of young women, Stummers isn’t worth your time.
I came here for the buttertones. Its an amazing intimate venue. Hard to find in L.A. where I live now. If you want to have a chance to meet the artists afterwards this is the place to do it.
Fun little dive bar in Fresno. Good place to get together with friends on the weekends. Check the website for good bands that come through.
Went for Liverpool vs West Ham Soccer Match had an Excellent Time. Food, Drinks, & Folks were All Amazing & Super Welcoming!!!
Fav venue for an intimate show experience
Strummers is the place to be! Great beer selection, good food, and awesome staff. Theyre always bringing awesome music to the town, as well.
Favorite place in Fresno great food and great shows
Cool venue! Seen a lot of good shows here including Crushing the Deceiver, Jack Russells Great White, Bulletboys and more!
Good place to enjoy live bands and the bartenders are very friendly love the mango drink with Tajin i think i spelled that right.
This was a great place to see The Score. Food was delicious and the staff was friendly. A very fun venue!!!
Went to a Suicide Girls show and loved it. Drinks arent bad pricing and VIP had a spot to sit and enjoy the show!!!
So much fun!!! Bands were fantastic.. bring on the country because we like that way… 🎶
Cool place with some good live music on the weekends. Full bar. 4 stars because its a typically bar so the bathrooms are gross.
Im the house tech 4 years running for the new owners at strummersthis is by far the best run small venue for live entertainment I have ever worked withthey are constantly striving to provide the best possible experience for all gueststhe atmosphere is casual Come As You Are as you would expect in the Fresno Tower District
A fun environment for any type of event! Great drinks also!
Great place for music and drinks. Cant wait till they have Wax Panther perform. He can kill a stage!
Great club, could use some more spots to sit down, and definitely needs some AC. Some of the beer prices are outrageous for draughts though
Awesome venue for events. Thank you to the attentive staff in making it a safe place for all ages events. You guys rock!
I love Strummers every time, whether its 90s night or any other night. The drinks are always tasty and the atmosphere is the best in tower !
Strummers is always a great place to go and hang out with my friends. Security is tight and on top of any altercation and the bar staff are friendly and hilarious!
Good bar, good food, my favorite place to see a concert. Cant wait till they open again
Really cool atmosphere and lots to do thereThey have open mics as well as concerts
Great place and environment. The bartenders are outstanding
Some really cool bands come here and I always feel safe coming here.
Smoking outside, expensive beer inside. The AC was great though. Seems to have cornered the market on selling tickets for small shows.
Love this lil hole in the wall bar! Especially for a quaint space to see live music 🎶🤘🏽
An absolutely fabulous venue, could not have asked for a better experience.
Its my fav place in Tower!!Has many live band options in different genres, plus drink options are great....
Strummers Tower District strikes again!!! Some of us were refused entry last night with ticket in hand that I just bought with my hard-earned money then refused refund all because there was a bottle of Fireball and on the road being finished as we walked from the jam pad to strummers we were emediatly stereo typed Bad guys by Barney five door man and his goons as noticed by a few of us...about 10 minutes later we got ready to go in and we were refused entry.... we are eight older respectful metal dudes we are not little kids drinking in the parking lot we all had plenty of money and ids in our pockets to spend but yet we were refused entry not a single person was falling down acting up noxious, nothing, I will never step foot back and strummers again and well spread my hatred toward them any chance I get, that was totally uncalled for and unprofessional...not to mention im out 25 buck for a show we were refused entry to thats bulls $%#!!!
Awesome food! Beer battered wings were awesome! Friendly staff, awesome place to see shows!
Saw Hot Flash Heat Wave. Great venue, security is very tight and does a great job to make sure everything is safe.
Awesome environment....very busy...If you are looking for a place to hang out they host many events at Strummers
This place is one of the best around. Great staff, cheap beers, and an indoor/outdoor smoking bar.
Great cheap local venue. Good alcohol. They host all varieties of events.
Always has new shows booked almost every weekend and has a cool atmosphere for sports mornings.
Love going to concerts here, its a little but what do you expect when you having fun moshing with a bunch of friends .
Great local venue, just a bit small for my taste. Got crowded, but its expected.
Great small/medium local music spot, nice layout and sound , even has all ages show
No purses, or bags allowed. This disappointed me a bit. Overall good drinks, and the bathrooms are always stalked up with toilet paper, and hand tissue.
Probabbly my favorite live music venue in town. Can get pretty crowded but the crowd is usually pretty chill
Always a great atmosphere and tasty drinks!
The place was nice, the bartender had a nice ass which is a bonus. There wasnt a lock on the restroom though heads up.
Bathroom is small I think I seen someone piss in the corner . you have to pay a fee just to get next store even though the door is open to the next building nothing but a sausage fest in there
Glad Livingstones has reopened, one of the best from Fresnos past. Good food and great atmosphere!
Great food, bands were good, bathroom was not useable. Afraid to touch anything In there. Needs attention.
The security guard will open the door while females are in the restroom, and if you confront them, kick you out and dump your drink on you. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!
Great food affordable and nice selections at bar karaoke night is fun and more fun good crowd and staff
They got touch tunes, high end whiskey, andcraft beer what more could you really ask for.
