River Street Jazz Cafe

Fantastic small venue! For a smaller live music venue, they seem to have a sound system that rivals larger, more expensive well established venues. The sound quality was well balanced. Also very good lighting for a small stage. An incredible energetic helpful staff that vigilantly keeps a close watch on your table and very good food.

Excellent band last night. Teddy Young & The Aces with Indigo Moon Horns. Had a great waitress & the chicken quesadilla was delicious. Only downside was a $10 cover; but it ended up being well worth the experience.😁

Only one bartender was any good I think his name was Phil and he deserves a raise, the others were too busy to even look at a $20 to come wait on you. The whole place smelled like weed, guess u only have to go outside to smoke cigarettes but vaping is ok inside! Very sad

Very nice place. Went to the Bob Marley tribute and the band was great. Hit every song.

Very nice venue. Decent drinks and food.l, but their set up was definitely nice and inviting. Hope they host more bands I like.

What you have here is a bar that makes terrible drinks, never cleans their bar taps (do NOT order a soda from the gun), unaware/uncaring bartenders who do not manage the bar space, and cover charges that are just way too expensive for the valley. Youd think with cover charges approaching $20 the riff-raff would stay home, but they do not. Coupled with inattentive bartenders, frequent seating, drink line, and tip theft disputes occur continuously. I really see no point in wasting good money there when I can see the same acts elsewhere for $0-$8 cover. This is just greed and abuse all in one package.

I have been to this venue a few times and I really like it! Drinks Ive ordered have been good, atmosphere, at least during the love music shows Ive been to, has been great as well. Id definitely recommend it, and everyone Ive talked to whos been there has told me they liked it too.

Excellent small venue. Limited but nice seating configuration. Smallish bar menu and specials run out fast. Reservation not required but for bigger acts suggested. Non smokers should stay away from the back deck as it is a designated smoking area. Have been to many shows at the River Street Jazz Cafe and since the rehab its back to its prime.

Great place to see music but some of the bar tenders cant make a drink to save their lives. 10 drinks and basically spent $100 on sprite. I dont care if youre Gonna charge a lot for drinks but at least put a little alcohol in them.

The place is clean, workers are friendly and efficient, food is delicious - especially the jalapeno poppers and little chicken sliders (mini Chick-fil-A sandwiches anyone?) - and the drinks are phenomenal (especially when made by Heather). You will not go wrong with a night out spent here, or booking this place for an event.

Great venue for live music. Im a photographer/videographer and have a shot a few shows here over the years. Always a fun crowd and great bartenders. Ive also been to a pop up here and its a great space. Nice atmosphere when dining. Ive never had their actual menu, but it does look good.2-3 shows a weekend, decent cover charge and ample parking. If you like music and a good time, check them out.

The River Street Jazz Cafe is the perfect place to get away to enjoy music and the company around you. The Bartenders quickly learn your name (and drink order) and always greet you with a bright smile! I always check what is happening at the Jazz before I make commitments elsewhere. It continues to be a staple music venue and is a guaranteed fabulous time!

The atmosphere was awesome. I had the salmon with the apricot marinade, it was Delicious! And, all of the staff was so pleasant and accommodating. Not to mention that the owner himself, was so hospitable. I’ll definitely be back. 😊

Last night I was there to see Drew and the Blue and Start Making Sense, which covered The Talking Heads. This venue was so overcrowded that I and the people I came with could not even find a seat and had to stand for the duration of the show.If this place was double this size; with the amount of people crammed into this venue; it would still be too small.

Great place to go to for live music after festival seasons done in the summer and need to hear some music in the winter. Good food, good people. Nice prices. Great music

I just love this place....the staff and the people who patronize this establishment are just the friendliest.Very clean .The musical guest they have are top notch.The sound is great.I have been here twice.... I will be back. In fact in two weeks.Thank you for a job well done. 🤩❤⚡💙

This place has super food,great staff who know just what they are doing and treat you like you really HAVE BIG BUCKS even if you didnt. LOL. Great music as in Clarence Spady and the Electric City Band.. And the other customers make you feel comfortable. This is a place you must visit. Did I mention the staff is fast and efficient.

If you you are looking for a romantic dinner and a relaxing jazz - this is a wrong place)In spite the music was not as we expected, we liked it. Waitress are kind, food is fine.The ONLY reason that keeps me from giving five stars is their sound guy. Looks like he is barely deaf. I understand that the music may be loud, but when it is WAY TOO loud and you can feel like something is going to blow up somewhere in ears, that brings some issues. Its definitely not comfortable to be there because of the volume.

This is a great place for a night out. Comfy atmosphere. Great service. The food is overpriced and just ok.

My favorite venue for live music in the Scranton / Wilkes Barre area. They pull some really awesome acts every weekend. Drinks are reasonably priced. Always good vibes here!

One of the best places to be in the area on the weekend. Some of my favorite shows went on at the jazz cafe. Look for the schedule and you can check out the bands ahead of time.

Jazz Cafe is always a good time.... food is good, great bands and the bar staff is phenomenal. Remembers me which cant be easy with the traffic they get.

River Street is a wonderful club. They have a full bar and restaurant and ample room for fans. If there is one drawback it is that is it a 21+ venue.

Always a fun place to be. Great service. Prices are a little steep, but nothing that would stop me from going there.

Good time seeing Lifer, it was packed and hot as hell! Great time, go early if you actually want seats or food the night of a big show - just not happening otherwise.

The jazz. Still the best place in the W-B area for live music. The jazz consistently gets interesting side projects of bigger artists that are from the Philly-NY area. Dont miss the chance to check out some of this one of a kind experimental music!

Heather is the most amazing bartender

River Street always gets good shows , good vibes good crowd . I saw goose there ,and there may have been 20 people including staff . The show was one of the coolest I ever saw .

Went there to see a band very nice,,,, free refills on soda if you dont drink only down fall is lots of marijuana smoking on the outside deck in the back. could also beef up on security other than that great would come back

Excellent venue, love it there, how ever, keep a good eye on your money on the bar, some individual helped himself to mycash in front of my seat, when they were getting a drink and I let him in to get waited on. Took my eyes off my cash formless than a minute, .

Great local music venue with okay bar food. Great drink selection as well. Definitely the best bar music venue in Wilkes Barre.

If you go for open mic night, make sure the sound guy sets it up first! The sound guy made the band look like idiots and the manager made them look like jerks for questioning the sound guy. When all was said and done it was a faulty plug, and no apology. We will not be back!

Really nice venue; very cozy and cool. Only issue was the bar tab - the prices were astronomical!

Went to see Dean Ford & The Beautiful Ones. It was an amazing experience. Sadly the bar ran out of Captain Morgan and had nothing to substitute it with.

Came to a dead show, paid 15 $ at the door than paid 6$ for a small pretzel with water down honey mustard and finally I asked for a water & cranberry and charged 1.50 what a ripped off
