They kept my deposit saying they found evidence of smoking in the Room which was erroneous, never happened!!!! I feel like I was robbed….The king bed mattress was very thin and firm on a flat metal base which wasn’t very comfortable and they only offer 3 pillows per room as I was advised when requesting one more. The best part of the room was the shower( great heat and pressure). For the price it was a decent stay and the desk attendant was very pleasant. My experience with OYO was completely ruined when my security deposit wasn’t returned for smoking in my room which did not occur. I requested photos of the evidence they claimed to have, the manager agreed to send but I never received them. I would not stay here again and risk losing another $100 for something I didn’t do.

I rarely write reviews but felt obligated to help future travelers! I stay in Durham frequently and have stayed at most of the budget hotels around. This is the only one I thought about actually leaving. I get that its cheap, i dont expect perfection! The rooms were clean, staff was friendly. But i truly couldnt believe how terrible the bed and bedding was!! Mattress was rock hard, pillow was super thin. I have been more comfortable sleeping on an airport floor. I woke up with terrible back and neck pain.Overall - clean hotel but bad location (far out of town, behind some storage facilities and close to the woods) and unbelievably terrible bed.There are better hotels in this area for the same price - try Red Roof, Millenium, etc.

It was very out of the way and quiet. We liked that. It was a little run down looking, but it was clean and neat. The man running the place was very kind. Even when I argued with him about the size of the beds. lol He was right, by the way. ;)

Front Desk was extremely rude. I heard them arguing with other renters throughout the night. My boyfriend went out to smoke & was confronted moments later with the same front desk clerk. Got up early to go to an ppointments and came back to my room completely cleaned.

This OYO brand is a complete scam. Wanted to cancel a few of the days I booked less than 12 hours later. They insisted that I couldnt cancel even for the days that were about 72 hours away.Edit:In practical terms, what youre saying is that no one should ever make the mistake of prebooking 1 month worth of stay because one will be locked in for the entire month?Your policy says you can cancel before 9AM of checkin. 9AM for todays booking should only lock me in to todays booking. Not the booking of 10 days time.

The location is secluded and not very inviting from outside, looks a rundown place however I was surprised with a clean newly renovated room. In my opinion any room which has a comfortable bed and nice bathroom wins and thats what my son and I got during our visit to UNC, Chapel Hill in April 2024

I wish i couldΒ  leave no stars. Its probably the rudest service you will ever have if you are Caucasian. I hate to go with race thing. But I am sure its because Im Caucasian. Make sure if you smoke to ask where the designated smoking area is. If you do not and youre not in a smoking room, they will take your hundred dollar deposit regardless if you smoke in the bedroom or not. The owner said to me, Do you smoke? I said no. Then he asked, Do you vape?I said yes, he said.If you fape in the room, I will know, and you will not get your hundred deposit back, I promise. I just cant believe the hate, aggression, and creepiness I felt from these people. I think theyre living out of this establishment. There is a full kitchen in the front behind the wall when you first walk in, but it is not accessible for the guests. If you want ice, you are only allowed one bucket of ice purr the sign posted. The website says 24/7 Service, but I woke up at 3:30 in the morning trying to figure out where I could smoke. I rang the bell a couple of times and waited for about an hour and nobody was there. The room I stayed in was clean, but the bed I stayed in was extremely stiff. Also, when I removed the top cover, it was full of crumbs. So definitely bring your own blankets and sheets. The one thing I did enjoy was the plant growing around the top of the ceiling in the lobby. Actually, if youre driving by 2, get anywhere else. You should stop in just to look at that, but I would never recommend anybody staying here unless you really need the lowest budget room in Durham

The worst place ever stayed.I booked online and when I arrived I made error I booked day before. So no room no refund. I booked it again and guy give me smoking room. I asked another because I don’t smoke he said thats what you paid for you have to pay extra. Rooms were so smelly I have to open the door to sleep. Do your self favor STAY AWAY

This place is closer to Hillsboro than Durham. The owner charged me to check in before 3pm $35 but was animate he will also charge me if Im not out by 11am. The room was clean except for the cigarette burns everywhere. He charged me $100 deposit and then took a long time to return it. I asked why the poor hospitality and he said covid changed everything. I dont know if covid had anything to do with it but I wont be returning. House keeping was nice though.

For the price to stay one night I was iffy about staying somewhere with only one level (easier for bugs and insects to enter my room) but after getting into my room I was pleasantly surprised by how clean the room was. It was a little weird that the sink was on the other side of the bathroom door and the bed was more firm than what I was used to but I sleep like a baby none-the-less.Would stay again

We walked in 5 minutes before check-in. Right away the lady at the desk said it would be extra. We said we would wait outside for 5 minutes. Then, she wanted to swipe my card and I thought I already paid. Instead of telling me that they didn’t get payment through Priceline yet, she was just rude. I called Priceline to see what was going on. Then she says we have to put $100 deposit plus the charge of room. I wanted to make sure we would get the $100 back. We booked what said double room and assumed it was 2 beds. It wasn’t until after booking, we saw it was one bed. Double room with one bed? Didn’t understand. We would only be there for a few hours and would have our son sleep with us. Eventually, we paid extra for a second bed. We walked into a freezing cold room, with a terrible smell. We didn’t trust her so we recorded everything when walking in. Sure enough, the vanity was broken and the sink was dripping. My husband went to the front desk to let them know. They said it was the people before us. Mind you, there was one other car in the lot and they gave us the worst room. After we came back from dinner, my son is in the bed and there is hair everywhere on the beds. It was disgusting. The only saving grace was the man at the desk had someone change out the sheets. Luckily we brought our own because they still had hair everywhere. The beds were on some metal box that sounded like you were trying to escape a chain fence when you moved. When checking out, the guy could hardly tell me, or give me proof that we would receive our deposit back. We did later that day but I had nothing in writing. I paid more for this room than a different and better hotel the day before. If I could have gotten a refund and gone somewhere else, I would have. I didn’t want to pay for 2 rooms. Don’t go there. They are rude and the rooms are disgusting.

I can tell they have done some remodeling to at least the room we were in and the bathroom was nicely done however the shower curb was way to short so water goest everywhere. The bed was on a spring frame and every time you move it squeaks. The mattress itself is pretty hard so don’t be surprised when you wake up and your back hurts. Keep in mind for a motel this afforable what do you expect the Hilton lol… for the online price it’s ok but if you walk in and get a room it’s 30% higher and then the price doesn’t justify it at all. We were pleasantly surprised with our stay at OYO and cannot agree with some of the very negative ratings. The place is located in a rural/suburban/commercial area, which felt relatively safe - no grocery stores or restaurants nearby, but it takes only a few minutes by car to reach Durham. The reception area points out a lot of rules, and you are expected to follow them. We had no issue with the security deposit, we knew it would be $100, and I dont even see it charged to my card. The people were very friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and newly remodeled, the only thing we didnt like was the plastic mattress cover, which makes crinkly noises. If you come prepared (use google satellite to see the location, read the fine print) you know what to expect and can appreciate the value.

Unbelievably bad. I realize that this is a budget hotel, but jeez. We checked in around 5PM, left our bags in the hotel room, then left for a few hours. Arrived back at 10PM to realize we had no towels in our room whatsoever. When we went to the receptionist to ask for towels to bathe with, he informed us that he couldnt give us any because housekeeping was gone for the day and he couldnt access the room where they were kept... He was unapologetic and refused to find any alternative. We both dried off with one of the sheets from our rooms bed. Disgusting.I was charged a $100 deposit upon check in, which is not mentioned on the website. Beds are hard as all get out, and my sinuses/throat were irritated after sleeping there (poorly) for one night. No toiletries, and the toilet in our room shook when we sat down on it. Yeah.Gross hotel with poor service. Its really not worth the cheap prices.

DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL!!!!! As soon as we walked in EVERYTHING SMELLED LIKE SMOKE even the lobby. We checked into the first room and I couldn’t even stand sitting on the bed because it was so squeaky. The pictures advertised are NOTHING like the actual rooms. The walls are not even fully painted, the sheets are ripped, the mattress was discolored, and the tag was so old that we couldn’t even read hold the mattress was. The air conditioner cut on and off. We asked for a refund and the person at the front desk said no refunds. I called Expedia and they said the only way they could issue a refund was if the hotel approved the refund request. Even with the pictures I showed them they still refused to issue a refund. I don’t understand the horrible hospitality it must take to run a business like this.

The customer service was HORRENDOUS!!! The lady in the front yells at you every time! I asked for an extra wash cloth since it was only 2 in the room & I had my two kids with me. She was mad the reservation didn’t mention kids & told me I should’ve mentioned that then took 10mins to hand me a wash cloth!!!!! WHICH WAS RIGHT BEHIND ME!! The family next to us saw & heard what happened and offered us to leave with them. They felt sorry after I showed her the video of how I was treated! What made it worse, the lady was a mother. She showed no compassion towards me. They acted afraid of a 4’11 woman with 2kids. I only recorded because how THEY both started to treat me. I will never return because I felt unsafe & unheard! The website doesn’t mention the deposit you have to make once there & they don’t issue refunds! SHE YELLED AT ME TO RETURN THE KEY, since our hotel stay was moved elsewhere. He was upset too. I told them I’m at work and will return once I’m off. The male owner also touched our property & moved it when we wasn’t present!! She yelled and said NO BRING KEY NOW! The way we was judge THE MOMENT WE ARRIVED is unsettling! But I can keep going but just know….My opinion is my opinion. You guys may have a different experience than I have. So good luck sugarfoots! When I pulled up to the building, there were windows boarded up with plywood - not a good sign. There was a strange odor when I entered the lobby. I was denied my booking because my ID was not considered valid - nowhere specified what my ID needed to be when I booked online.I have never had an issue with my ID at any other hotel Ive stayed at. I was also told there would be a 100 dollar deposit - money I did not have, and I was not informed of this when the room was booked. Part of the reason that I was going to stay here was cost. To lure people in with low prices then try to dump fees on them after theyve driven hours to get here is low. Surprise and hidden fees are a very dishonest business practice. Judging by the reviews, I would say that I dodged a bullet, and that this place has definitely earned all of its poor reviews.

AVOID THIS PLACE!!!!This hotel cancelled my booking 3 days before check in. (THREE DAYS).I had reserved a room for 2 nights and paid in full 2 months in advance. The hotel emails me 3 days (THREE DAYS) before I’m supposed to check in and states that β€œthey apologize for any inconvenience”, but that the reservation is no longer valid and has been cancelled.So, I call the hotel to see what is going on. The staff spoke very little English. All they kept saying was β€œI’m very sorry. It is cancelled and you will be refunded in full.”(I scrambled to find another hotel last minute. So very stressful. Had to book a room 35 miles away from the city I needed to stay in.)DO NOT RISK BOOKING WITH THEM. because they might cancel last minute and ruin your travel plans. Dont fall for the cheap rates. Its like they do that to get you in so they can going to charge you for every little thing they can, and they do NOT do refunds for ANY reason. $15 to change the room. $35 to check in if its not 3pm on the dot or later. $100 deposit per SMOKING room. $250 deposit for non-smoking. The nice pictures and positive reviews are also false. The positive reviews are purposely deceptive and MUST be family, friends, bribes and/or incentive-led. The rooms actually JUST started being renovated and the pictures online is NOT what you get. Its a nasty, stinky, dirty, grimy, musty, broke down old motel with chipped paint, mold, dust, and bugs, and looks like it hasnt been updated since the 70s. Plus the sheets were stained, chairs in the room were moist and mildewy, and the tv remote didnt even work. The springs in the remote were actually missing were the batteries should be.Worse of all, the air quality in the room was so bad I quickly got sick, feeling dizzy, light-headed, tightness in my head, very nauseous after less than 10 minutes. Plus, I dont smoke, have asthma, bad allergies, and other health conditions that make me sensitive to smoky environments. But they did not care AT ALL. They wanted that $250 for a non-smoking room deposit which I didnt have after already paying the $100 deposit for the first room plus $15 extra since they changed it when I didnt have a $250 deposit for the non-smoking room I originally paid for. I even contacted hotels .com to help me reason with the hotel to either refund me or simply give me a better room that wouldnt make me sick. But the hotel refused unless I paid $250. I ended up having to call a friend to help me book a room ANYWHERE else. If this was the ONLY hotel available, I was already prepared to sleep in my car. Thats how bad it was. The only good thing is the NEXT hotel waived any deposit on a room for me because of the disbelief of the greedy inhumane treatment of THIS hotel.And please do not contact me asking me to stay again or fix my review. You could not pay me to stay there.

I take pride in my reviews and feel this is one thats necessary. I did set up my travel plans for here, slightly concerned with the negative cleanliness comments and all I really needed was a clean room and freezer. I prayed. I have been well traveled for decades and can tell you that for the price point and what I got, it was equal. I did get into one of the renovated rooms so it was pretty clean but I did not get a freezer which is what I needed. Theyre working the kinks out but it wasnt the best way all. A Few negative things: walls are thin, it didnt have soap for my hands (or shower if you needed) but I had that with me so I didnt really care. This non smoking king room didnt have a small coffee maker and I had to take a total of a 15 minute drive to get a cup of coffee. Its all small easy things to fix. I paid a *total of $66 for the room. All I wanted was a clean bed and space. I got a brand new shower which was lovely. The bed is modern looking, the sheets were comfortable cotton. I felt like I was sleeping on a crib mattress. The plastic mattress pad liner on this bed was ridiculous for grown adult. Every time I moved all I heard was plastic crinkling. Im sure the mattress is old, nonetheless it wasnt very comfortable. The cotton sheets were very comfortable for the breathability. I dont think that for what I paid, this hotel is was unfair. The person who checked me in was excellent and overall feel like I could come back once things are finished perhaps- only because of the affordability.

This motel is an older model that is being renovated. The renovations did NOT interfere with my stay and were very neatly kept. My room had been renovated and was very clean. Make no mistake, if you are looking for an ultra modern room with glitz, this isnt it. However, if you eat a nice, clean roomfor under a hundred dollars, you wont be disappointed. The only issue that was annoying is that the management requires a $250 deposit and it MUST be held on a credit card. The owner of the hotel was very hospitable to me.

Amazingly peaceful and homey. We had a great time staying at this hotel. Out of all hotels we stayed in this has been my favorite. Not only was the room perfect, comfortable, cozy and clean, we loved and enjoyed the location. The environment and views are fantastic. There is a nice big tree where we relaxed in and its surrounded by beautiful grass and nature. Its such a nice quite peaceful place. I was a little worried about the deposit but it is returned after. This place is definitely worth the expense.

I would not recommend this place even to a enemy of mine. 1st they may or may not refund your money which is 100$ dollars on your debit or credit card now people please read very carefully to there website: credit card, debit card or cash deposit may be required at check-in for incidental charges. Worst experience ever! As a travel nurse, I do try to find motels and or hotels that are as cost effective as possible. I have stayed at this establishment before and had found that staff to be pleasant at that time. This time was very different. I walked in the lobby to check in and the staff was having a conversation with another patron. He was extremely rude to her. Once she left and I was able to talk, I explained that I was checking in. I was told that I had reservations for a smoking king room. Thats impossible..I have lung issues and cannot be around cigarette smoking much less want my clothing around it. He went on to tell me that there were no non smoking rooms available. Slid my ID back thru the slot and walked away from the window. So there I was 3 hours from home, nowhere to stay and needing to be up for work in 5 hours..what is a girl to do?Thanks OYO...you guys sure know how to help your customers! Never again.

If I could leave no stars I would. The horrible customer service was atrocious!!!! Me and my bf booked a room for this location on hotels.com. We seen under the β€œpolicies and fees” tab that the deposit was listed as $100. We called and confirmed. Once we arrived with the $100 we were told very rudely, the deposit will now be $250 since they only have nonsmoking rooms available. My bf and I then stepped out to the front to gather the funds on our card to pay the deposit. Once we had it figured out and went inside to reserve our room, THEY REFUSED US A ROOM. It was 12am after a long day of driving for work and we then had no place to sleep and drove around trying to find another hotel to stay at. People who lack professionalism and manners should not be running a business! Never got my refund either.

I question the authenticity of some of the reviews I’m seeing. Scary location! Scary people staying there! Paper thin ceiling walls and ceiling. Was asked for a ride into town by some creep the first time I left my room. Was charged a $250 deposit at check-in (have NEVER had that happen before). Finally left and got another hotel at 1am because of loud, foul-mouthed hooligans above me carrying on (and were certainly going to all night). My worst motel experience ever by a country mile! I love the staff!! I love the rates... this is my go to place when I work 30-45 minutes within the area!! They keep the traffic to a minimum with their guest policy and the parking lot is always calm! Would recommend if you need a decent quiet smoking room and you dont want to pay 100$ a night.

Like tons before me, Id give this hotel no stars if I could. I had a booking for three nights. It was absolutely terrifying when I arrived. But I decided not to judge a book by its cover. The man at the front desk told me that the only room he had was a smoking room... And not only that, the man said that room was right next to the construction he had going on, and it would be going on from 9 am to 7 pm every day.When I got to the room it smelled terrible, and the lights wouldnt work. When I finally got the light on.. we realized the room was infested with HUGE roaches. I couldnt believe it. I went to tell the man and he said its normal to have roaches. And if I wanted I refund I needed to call someone else. I left and he instantly blocked me from leaving a review. Worst experience ever.

I stayed here 2 months and 2 weeks. I was pleased with the housekeeping service most, She was great and always checked on me just to assure I was comfortable and everything was to my standards. I wish I could have tipped her more often but I dont carry cash much. The owner of the hotel was very understanding and welcoming of my living situation. Hes a true gem. Great customer service. This hotel was not what I was lead to believe (given bad reviews). There was late night traffic and disturbances but the owner expeditiously resolves those issues. Hes just great! My only complaint of this hotel would be the owners wife. Shes very rude and shouldnt interact with guest. She made me feel very uncomfortable at the beginning of my stay. She accused me of smoking in the room and her tone is always rude and aggressive. She also tried to charge me an extra 100$ and most likely would have if her husband wouldnt have walked in on the altercation. Shes the turnoff of a wonderful stay. Other than her, Oyo Hotel is a very suitable and affordable place to stay. Im very grateful for the owner and his accomadations of my stay.

Avoid booking here at all costs. Listed pictures are falsified and don’t represent the conditions of the hotel. We booked through a third party and ended up with a smoking room (which we didn’t ask for) with stained carpet, and outdated furnishings that did not match any images listed online. Also, the main room lights did not function. If you have any type of allergies or respiratory problems, staying here would be hazardous to your health. Also, receptionist was responsive but didn’t try to accommodate or respond to any of our requests. Feels like a scam for unsuspecting tourists. Do yourself a favor and drive the additional 4 miles into town to stay at a real hotel.

I have never left a bad review, but theres a first time for everything.The male owner of this place was extremely rude to my boyfriend when he came in to check in for our online booking.We did not have our child with us as we had put in the reservation so it had to be modified. Simple right? Wrong.My bf had trouble with the app so he called the assistance number he found on there and spoke to a very polite woman. Only 2 stars because I cant give 2.5.The motel is what you pay for--a cheap motel room. Decent enough for a brief stay, wouldnt recommend it for more than a couple of days.The biggest factor in my experience keeping it from a 3 or 3.5 is the booking process. I booked over the phone, which was very easy. However, when I arrived to check-in, they only had smoking rooms available. This wasnt mentioned during the reservation process. The odor of smoke has settled into most parts of the room. Not being a smoker, it had a rather unpleasant effect on me.Unrelated note, the walls are quite thin. Light sleepers may be awaken by anyone out and about during the night. For me, it was a mild grievance at most.The staff I dealt with were nice enough. I think it would have been a 3-star experience had I been in a non-smoking room...but I was never given the choice.YMMV.

I only had around $45 in my account just to pay for a hotel for the night because I was 750 miles away from home. I ended up just walking out and requesting a cancellation and my booking website was going to give me a full refund until the hotel had personally contacted them and told them to refuse a refund after I waited 3 hours and was about to have everything sorted so I could have a room for the night. Customer service was garbage and the lady speaking to me could barely understand English. Well for one Im from back woods and this is by far back woods its conveniently located off the interstate and grocery store right down from.the road . It is in a wooded area! So u dont have to deal with the unsightly view of the interstate.. and as to the ppl standing around Ive had no issues mind u theres a play ground ,brick grill and a pool . Horrible experience. Just ten days out from major knee surgery. Hotwire had them as Wheel Chair / Handicapped accessible. Found out that it was not remotely true. Had to try to manage with crutches. Which I did…The biggest problem was that they tried to use my disability to extort extra money from me. I extended the room on Hotwire. They then called me, at checkout time, knowing how hard it would be for me to move, and told me that the room was available …but wanted an additional payment. It was that I was disabled and they thought they could safely take advantage of me.When I told them that I needed to work it out with Hotwire, they told me I had to vacate the room imediately. They then called the local sherif to make sure I left. This was all within 20 minutes of check out time.I was very glad to have the police report and will be reporting them to the appropriate agencies and to follow up with the franchise.Frankly, I think they are used to dealing with poorer people and people who they can take advantage of. They were rude and dismissive the entire time I was there.The specific room I was in was acceptable, but hotel itself is very dumpy and old.My advice? Spend, literally, a few dollars more and stay at the red roof in close by.Wish I could give it zero stars.

The owners were excellent! chad and his family were very nice and helpful. the beds were clean and the bathrooms were also in great condition. i would 10/10 recommend.

If you like the lights of Vegas and the feeling and not staying at a regular hotel, this is the perfect hotel for you. Its located right next to the Kodak theatre and the jimmy kummel set. Its also attached to a mall and surrounded by lots of restaurants.

I didn’t get to stay at the hotel because when I got there they canceled my reservation for the room I need that I had made through hotels.com app and about 30 minutes after I left to look for another hotel I noticed they charged me a cancellation fee even though I wasn’t the one to cancel, it was the hotel itself that did and the room was canceled within the free cancellation window time frame but I still somehow got charged and called customer service about a refund and I still have not received it after they said I will get it back
