Lemongrass Aveda Salon & Spa

This is my favorite spot to get my haircut, facial and massage. It has a cozy atmosphere since its a converted house, lots of beautiful crystals everywhere and a great spot to just hang out and have a cup of tea. Everyone is very professional and does a great job.

I had been growing my hair out for almost 2 years. My friends recommended I go here. It did not disappoint. Not only was the style I got fantastic, but the entire experience was magical.Thank you so much to Sky for giving me the experience I needed!

I LOVE Lemongrass Aveda Salon and Spa! I have been a client for 20 years and the quality and service of the Hair Stylists and the Spa Therapists are always EXCELLENT. The skincare and haircare product options help sustain the results at home, and the jewelry is always stunning. I recently had Stylist Ali Rose cut my hair and I get compliments on the cut where ever I go. When we moved I was nervous to find a new stylist. I was referred to Ali and absolutely love her! I love my haircut and balayage. She’s so sweet and easy to talk to. She also gives the best relaxing head massages at the shampoo bowl. 😍 The salon is beautiful and has relaxing vibes throughout. I’m so happy to have found the perfect salon!✨

I had come in and spent about a $100 and didnt want to spend too much, I called after Christmas, she said she had a lot of stuff left... There wasnt a thing in stock. I drove an hour to get there I just wish she never lied to me I will never return... I would have waited till they restocked instead of being lied to... Theres another crystal shop down the road Ill try there...

I can’t recommend Lemongrass enough! I just went for the first time after moving to the area and saw Ali for a haircut. She was super kind and understanding about my haircut anxiety (if you know, you know), showed me around the beautiful and calming yard space, and gave me a FANTASTIC cut without taking off too much length. To top it off, the scalp massage while washing my hair was the best ever. :D

This salon is a very unique experience while getting your hair done. I also want to thank the owner, Tara and my salon stylist Amanda. I am a new customer and Amanda did a great job on my hair, but there was a slight variation. They stood by their services and had me return for a color correction without any attitude or hassle. I will be returning for the great service and relaxing environment.

Kendall is fantastic! I had an appointment with her for a facial and left feeling relaxed, rejuvenated, and far less puffy :) My favorite things about this treatment were 1) Kendall’s personality and professionalism and 2) Kendall’s confident, intuitive touch. The scalp massage was amazing and the gua sha treatment was incredibly soothing. I can’t wait to come back, this time with my mom, for a lovely ladies’ day out!

Very rude staff. They charge you full amount even after denying service. Will no longer visit or recommend this salon to anyone. And they refuse to refund my money. Disappointing for the Aveda brand.

Review for men’s haircuts: This place is wonderful. Above and beyond on pretty much every aspect. Particularly, Autumn and Marjorie are the best hair stylists I’ve ever experienced and the review is for them. Surferish regular medium length over here and they both truly cared from start to finish. Other stylists at other places just get through men’s haircuts I feel and they made absolute sure I was happy and kept going back until it was perfect. Very impressed and big props to both Autumn and Marjorie. Reasonable price, great ambiance, products, etc. You will not be disappointed.

I miss this place so much! I moved from San Diego to Malibu in August and other than my friends, I miss Lemongrass the most. Their staff is amazing, I was an avid buyer of their jewelry and crystals, and the best part was the massages. The monthly membership makes it so easy to get regular massages and the value for what you pay still doesnt make sense to me.I have yet to find anything that even comes close to this in Malibu. Ive also recommended tons of clients and friends here and everyone I send always raves about it, too.

This spa/salon is definitely a wonderful experience. Kara at the front desk is extremely knowledgeable with Aveda products. She is kind and courteous. I will definitely return for more services. I love the zen feel and all the crystals.

I was pretty disappointed. Lemongrass has great ambience... very relaxing, holistic setting with a friendly, welcoming staff. However, my massage was beyond mediocre. I asked for hard pressure in certain spots and the women basically gently rubbed excessive amounts of oil on my body for 60 minutes. Im so glad I didnt go for the 90 minute! I was relaxed, but had no relief of muscle soreness or enjoyment of an actual massage. I would be shocked to learn the woman was certified or had any knowledge of how to massage.

Melissa at this salon ruined my hair. I have been going to the spa to get my hair done since 2014. Kristy and Mel were the best stylists. With them gone, the remainder dont do a good job. Melissa was the replacement given to me for Mel. She botched up my partial highlight touch up with a ghastly red tone, against my naturally black hair, giving the effect of a henna job gone bad. She was to follow the formula written by Mel, but apparently did not. When I called back after a day for a redo, I was offered a free do over with Lisa, who is the salon owners sister and has been in business for 22 years. Expecting Lisa to do it right I went in today only to be shortchanged again with just a toner do over. I was told by Lisa that Melissa is bad at following directions and mixed the wrong color!! Whoa!! She also used a toner to cover up her mistake and make my existing highlights dark so that the botch up wont be noticeable. Not only do I lose my beautiful color but I get the wrong color at the roots! Anyway, Lisa refuses to do it all over again, insisting a toner will fix things. Tired with the back and forth and their lies, I gave it a try. The toner only made my highlights so dark that they now merge with my hair color. So I paid in excess of 200$ to lose my highlights! Worst hair job ever! They now refuse to refund or give another do over, insisting I book an appointment with Lisa to get things right. This has to be the worst salon experience in this lifetime and I am sick and tired of this bunch of swindlers. Never going back there again.

They make me feel welcome and comfortable. I love my hair cut by Lisa. She knew just what to do to correct.my style. Smells were terrific. Head massage yummy

Just got a haircut with Tiffany and all I can say is my hair is currently living it’s best life. Unlike most stylists who cut then dry and straighten my long loopy curly hair (which I literally never do on my own), Tiffany took my hair in its natural state and gave me a cut that I can absolutely rock without round brushing and blowing out! It’s so happy- I’m so happy, can’t wait to rock this style! I’ll be back 🙌🏼

SUPER kind and helpful staff. The couple massage me and my boyfriend got for Valentine’s Day was amazing. Beautiful and calm atmosphere as well. 10/10.

I called in advance to check on a product. They set it aside for me to pickup. I arrived a day or two later than predicted. The staff was pleasant and looked for product,but said it was no longer there but was still in stock.😃 So I was good to go. Great place to get your Aveda products

Elena was my hair stylist. I brought a picture of the haircut I wanted. I got a cut not even close to the picture. It seemed to me that Elena does not know the basics in hair styling. She just shortened my hair, no texturizing, no layers, and no style. She gave me a good scalp massage but it was not what I went there for.

Cannot recommend this spa highly enough. Its a sanctuary in Encinitas with such an excellent, wide array of services and a super high standard of service and integrity. Tara, the owner makes a valiant effort to make each and every patron feel nurtured and well taken care of while providing a high vibe atmosphere to relax and feel safe in. You will not be sorry to check out ANY treatment they offer.

Lemongrass is a magical nurturing sanctuary tucked away in Encinitas. As soon as I entered the property I felt the specialness of this place. The staff is amazingly talented and went out of their way to make me feel welcome and comfortable. I highly recommend coming here to soak up the love!

I called this morning and spoke with Olivia. She was very professional. The products I requested were in stock and I would prefer to purchase them from a local shop instead of Ultra Expensive (Ulta). Olivia had them items ready for me as soon as I walked in. The store front was extremely clean. If it wasn’t for the rain I would have cracked open a WhiteClaw and sat outside.

I had the pleasure of receiving a haircut from Darbi Roberts. It is the best haircut that has ever blessed my head, while being served some delicious tea. The vibe of the salon is great and Darbi is a master with the scissors.

Lisa Rios did a fabulous job with my hair. I have salt and Pepper and wanted more pepper added so my overall hair would be darker but the roots would not show when my hair grew out. It was a tall order but she delivered exactly what I wanted.

Iv been coming to Lemongrass since the owner opened her doors. Over the 12 or 13 years they have been in business Iv had more amazing spa treatments hair cuts and Coker then I can count. Because Iv been around so long I know the staff and have learned how much the ownership invests in everyone’s professional growth. I understand that all get expert monthly trainings from Avedas corporate Team and are encouraged to be their best!!! Like all salons people come and go but the owner and management seem to attract nothing but the best hairdressers and spa staff.iv been a “member” since it was offered and love love love trying all the practitioners out! Could not recommend Lemongrass More highly!

Love this place, I literally refuse to go anywhere else.

My hair is ruined.... Ive never had the desire to wear a hat, but Im hiding my hair for the next few months until it grows out enough to be fixed and NOT get even shorter.Im writing this review in hopes to have the stylists be more sensitive.I had said, two inches off and clean up the layers. Ladies, when we come in, we usually dont know the verbiage for what we want. However, I feel like there is a HUGE difference between, I like it, just spruce me up and Im going through life crises, and the only thing I can change is my hair, so change it!The process we discussed was not foreign to me. Debunking, face framing, and under layers are all familiar. After 26 years of struggling with my hair, I understand these things are needed. Instead, I got a 100% razor cut. No strategic layers (I have curly, thick hair), no making sure everything was even. It happened so fast, that before I could say stop, I knew to make it even I had to suffer through it. Half of my hair is just gone, debulked. I felt like I was in a cartoon watching the hair fly, but instead of looking gorgeous I wanted to cry.My top layer was past my collar bone in the front... its now even with my cheek bones. I lost 12 inches in some places, and everything else is at least 6 inches shorter. And not cleanly 6 inches shorter... razor cut shorter, so who knows what the back looks like. She didnt show me. She offered to curl my already curly hair, because its now so short it wont curl. Watching her do finishing touches killed me, because it was more hair gone, and I knew there wasnt enough to hide mistakes, and her face was sinking too. I had so much hair, my normal stylist could cut out knots, laugh, and say no one would ever know, and Id laugh too because I love my thick, curly, mane. Cutting out knots is the best... I have no such thickness left.I now feel like a bird. Not a lion, an ostrich hiding her head in a hole.Half way through, she said, I always forget to take before pictures... I went from, two inches and clean up the layers to an Instagram success story for a portfolio. She insulted my stylist with offhand comments, and finishing up with a, Thats how curly hair should be cut.... I can no longer tie my hair up in a clean pony tail, and I need to for work. I went from mid-back length, to just past my shoulders. I feel like a dirty, used, mannequin head experiment that went very, very wrong. Ive NEVER had someone completely change the nature of my hair, and fight to make it something it isnt before. Ive had bad cuts, but nothing like this... most stylists respect my hair, because it is unique, and challenging, but so beautiful. It hides mistakes when you treat it well. If they dont know what to do, they ask questions, and stay conservative.I am NOT newly single, I did not want something different, and I got something so awful Ive cried several times.Please, stylists... never do this to people. I go to Aveda salons because I trust them, and the people tend to be knowledgeable. This is frightening. I should have just gone to Sams.The only reason this salon gets two stars, is because I love what the owner is doing. All the girls were talking about how well they are treated, how happy they are, and they dont need tips to get by. Thank you so much, owner of this salon, for being an amazing business owner and realizing that the quality of life for your workers reflects on the customers. I would come back, just to continue supporting this cause, if I wasnt so deeply traumatized... Well see.Was this laid on thick? Yes... Ive given myself 24 hours to cry, and mope, and talk about what happened as dramatically as it truly feels. It will grow back... but it took 10 years with my stylist to correct all the bad cuts that have happened prior... Hopefully 4 months will let it grow out enough to be fixed without losing too much more length. Razor cuts last all of 2 weeks on my hair though, so its going to continue to be miserable the whole time. My hair is truly ruined.

Autumn is a hair wizard, but much lovelier than a wizard. She’s given me beautiful cuts and I’ve become obsessed with her Instagram feed @autumnpalatsi — Encinitas is lucky to have her after over a decade in NYC salons. Also, Lemongrass is a very special place with a magical vibe.

Whenever Im in the San Diego, a stop at Lemongrass is a MUST! I love their services and their retail space is beyond amazing. I always come home with a little treat (or 2!).

I regularly visit Sophia for facials and I am delighted every time. Shes incredibly soothing and skilled at her craft. My skin is so improved from her services.
