1st Street Bar

Great location and fun atmosphere. Was packed during my last visit (my 90s band was there playing live). Nice stage, seating and ample dance floor. Top notch hosts with a wide variety of drink and beer selections. Will be out for another visit soon.

A group of friends and I came to see The 005 band play. The band was great! The bartenders were very attentive. The patrons were enthusiastic, engaged, and respectful of each other. We really had a great time!

Such a fun and relaxed vibe at 1st Street. Pool, mini shuffleboard, great place to watch sports or meet new and fascinating people. Ian and Gary are at the door; both very personable and cool. The owner happened to be there when I came in to watch tennis and catch the Broncos, and was such a generous and laid back individual. Karaoke and open mic on Mon and Tues; this place always has something going on. Food availability to take inside as well with a neighboring sidewalk vendor; amazing eats. I dont see any unsmiling faces here, and have visited on different days, different hours. Never the same experience twice; and always a welcome feel. Definitely worth coming in and counting yourself as a local. Just do it!🎱

Best of both worlds, Great place for music and sports! Played here with my band last month and had a blast. Loved being so close to the beach, you could practically feel the waves at the bar.Small stage but good sound. Lots of seating and standing room for guests. Several big screen TV s broadcasting the big games, pretty good parking all around. (Easy load in for drummers, thank you 1st!!)Staff was great, and the bar even offers non-alcoholic beer which is a nice treat. Great music (of course) and tons of amazing food arou d the neighborhood.The vibes were chill and the bar had a big open wall/window so people walking by could get a sample of the party. It was nice to see outside while playing, and watch the colors of the sunset change.A fun place for a date or to hang with friends, even cool for family (adults of course). I felt comfortable having my dad, uncles and aunts come to my show knowing they would have a good safe time.I highly recommend checking out 1st Bar Encinitas next time your in North county!

Service is great.Prices for drinks are not bad at all and the atmosphere is awesome especially when they have live bands playing.

Nothing spectacular but always busy. Its hard to play pool though or get a turn. All over decent.

When I got to this bar I ordered two drinks from a female bartender and was charged $15. When my friend went and ordered the same exact two drinks from one of the male bartenders she was charged $18. When we went to ask him why she was charged more he was extremely rude, derogatory, and could not explain why he charged us more for the same order. He rolled his eyes at us and did not offer a refund of any sort. Made the experience at this bar hostile.

A favorite Encinitas hang with live acoustic music on weekends on the great outdoor patio! They really made a beautiful covid-safe setup. @vagabondvoice

I liked the band. They played good oldies and classics while people shot pool. Seems like a good place to relax except for the volume of the performers.You cannot hear yourself especially when having a conversation.Plus theres an awful smell inside. Its like urine.The bar tenders were nice though. They were quick though the crowd wasnt too demanding that Wednesday night.

$24 for a 1oz shot and beer. Say no more say no less, Enc has changed.

Great hangout place with TVs and great beer selection. Mother Earth Cali Creamn on nos🤤. 1 pool table & shuffle board. Patio seating and patio window seating. No AC. Theres a stage so possibly live music options or karaoke? I didnt have food, but didnt ask at the time.

Happened to be walking by and heard live music so we went in. The band was called the Exploits. They were awesome, what a treat! Looking forward to seeing them again soon.

Never been to a bar where the bartender demands a tip before ordering, I don’t mind leaving a tip but demanding before I order? And saying he needs the money. Oh I’m sorry it’s not my fault you didn’t go to college.

Very good late option to get a cold beer.I was there for the Stone IPA.Very local vives.There were no pretzels or peanuts, or maybe you have to ask for it.

1st time here, checked out karaoke on Sunday night. Good solid crowd, mostly good singers. Atmosphere and history is pretty dope.

Just ran into this place recently. Sweet little dive bar. Located on coast highway and next to a bunch of food places. Ideal spot for some drinking and eating. Parking def sucks but overall place has lots of TV, good beers ans cocktails. Bartenders have a heavy hand and drinks are stiff. I was there when Michelle was there. She is amazingly over the too gorgeous.

Cool place, friendly bartenders. Reasonably priced drinks and decent beer selection. Have a pool table, shuffleboard and one of the touch tunes jukeboxes. Seemed like a great local hangout, met several groups of cool people.

They kicked me out because I went to the bathroom with a friend. Rude and horrible. Other than that, cool place and has pool tables.

The bar itself is awesome but the bartender was a blond woman who was very rude and dismissive. Had a great experience except for her. I myself bartend and understand hospitality, I have rarely felt so insulted by someone. If the bartenders were pleasant the bar would be a 5.

Place is ok. They dont serve food there but the taco shop next door is crazy busy. Really cool music, theres one pool table, maybe only table on the strip? Place smells faintly of urine.

The bartender Danny was amazing and funny. He had alot of information on the area as he is a local. One of the best bartenders I have interacted with . My sister in law and I had a great experience here and I recommend you stop by if youre in the area. Awesome spot.

Had one of my Bands play at 1St Bar for the first time. Found a great staff ( Gary )and a great owner DaveI was very impressed. Main bartender and main outdoor bouncer nice, but showed up for pool as we let them all know, and as soon as we ordered drinks they started shutting both pool and shuffleboard down, by 10pm. Sok place if you dont wanna play. If you do go elsewhere as they seem fine shutting you down, even mid-game. Also, wish they had a better stout selection.

Weirdly enough this dive bar is one of my favorite bars in Encinitas. I love the vibe in there, a good variety of people. They have events/ happy hour almost every day of the week. There is a pool table and shuffle board free to play in there (taken out when it gets busy)I always have a good time there

The drinks were good, the Dj was great. The woman bartender was rude. But all the other bartenders were super nice. The security was even really nice.

I used to come here before covid and it was cool, but tonight the blonde bartender woman with the beanie was very rude to me and my friends right off the bat. I even tried to make conversation with her and she was throwing shade at my friends. Drinks were bad and we didn’t stay. 0/10 would not go back.

My kind of place for a local go-to bar. Bartender knows the locals drinks by heart. Pours drinks till their spilling over the rim. Offers a 75 cent a game 6 ft. Pool table and shuffle board. Offer events each night a week after 9PM varying from open mic night to jam band sessions. Old school Budweiser memorabilia, a couple arcade games, and a tight knit community that is welcoming rather than snobby. Dig it, reccomend for anyone visiting or living locally.

Overpriced as a mf. $5.50 for a domestic 12oz beer? Please. Even for for the area thats absurd. Came here pre-covid and it was like 3 bucks a pbr can... almost doubled now? Thats not an appropriate adjustment to inflation whatsoever. Bartender was also rude; Goodluck with tips, bud.

Noisy, dark.For some I guess the place is appealing. For me, its just one more too busy bar hangout with no particular redeeming feature to distinguish it. The way the music band is set up prohibits a good visual; too bad b/c some music sounded pretty good.

I just watched a video where it appeared that the bouncers wanted to fight more than the patrons did. Avoid this place like the plague until they get their act together. Get more professional security and get rid of the little fella who has a chip on his shoulder and is swinging at everybody in front of your bar.

Its a great time. Friday nights are usually the best. Good music strong drinks. Beach is a block away if you feel like heading there afterwards. Great food nearby for your drunken munchies!

This place is the best dive bar in down town Encinitas, especially before 10pm when they do half off pitchers of beer. Not sure if that only applies to weekend nights. They usually have a DJ playing music but I hope someday they bring back the live cover bands. Those were the days!

Was the only place going on a Sunday night. Karaoke night. All the taps were out, only cans, which was strange, expensive for such a dive. Service wasn’t bad though. Fairly fun.

I went to the night club as it turns to after 10 I believe. Pretty cool spot to hangout, listen to some music, and have some drinks. Its kind of a younger crowd but I would recommend it.

Love this place! We went there for the 1st time yesterday to watch the boxing fight. The place is not fancy nor trendy, but all 5 bartenders were super nice, friendly, and attentive even when they were packed to capacity.

Everyone is missing out on their new food options here. They have definitely stepped up their game here. Great food, great drinks, great people and the employees are top notch. Glad I checked out this old gem!

If youre looking for a clean dive bar this is your place! The bartender (Fidel) has awesome customer service. The atmosphere speaks for itself. I highly recommend this bar from a locals perspective.

Great local watering hole, with good live music. Open Mic on Tuesday nights, lots of time for local musicians to come jam. Staff is excellent, a very cool spot !

Pool table, dancing, great music and plenty of drinks! Can get a bit crowded but people have plenty of fun here. I also recommend the Docs Draft Hard Cider.

I made out with a gal there on the dance floor the other night. It was sick, the dj played some bangers. I also just go there and get pretty hammered. Sometimes I just go to watch a game on the tv or shoot some billiards. They cut me off one time, that night was awesome too.

Went here for a drink with friends. What I got instead was the most unprofessional bartender ive ever run into. He served me a drink as I walked in upon request. Gave him my ID and credit card and he comes back and asks to search my wallet?! Excuse me? So disrespectful and rude. HE then wanted to see my social security card....... to steal my Identity im assuming. Crazy experience, never got my ID back which cost me a lot of money and hassle with the DMV. IF I had the money to sue I would. This place deserves 0 stars! Wish I got the bartenders name because Id make sure he be fired. Terrible experience for a tourist like myself just trying to have a laid back night with buddies! Ridiculous pshhh

Fantastic iconic neighbor bar with live music and dancing. Crowd is 30-60 locals and visitors there to get down and dance to good ole rock!

The Saloon may be a dive bar, but on Friday and Saturday it doesnt feel like 1, but 1st street always does. Its the vibe, the atmosphere, the set up, all pointing to a full time divebar. Drinks are usually tall, but watered, they come quick all things considering. Music is ok to tolerable if there is a DJ, but its just too casual to really make anyones opinion sway as the diveiest dive this side of the 5 (in Encinitas). Dive bars are usually my favorite types of bars, but you should come here any day but Friday and Saturday for that, because the big 3 (1st Street, D Street, Saloon turn it up a notch. You wont find people overdressed here like you might elsewhere. Its not a stop off point to pre-party. Its the end up point. Like Dennys. You never go to Dennys, you just end up there. That pool table kills the movement through the room, the lighting is just way too bright and the crowd is the lazy people who didnt want to wait around up in Carlsbad.

Bouncer Great guy ....very professional and looked after everyone ...and not in a creepy way very genuine.....when on a wed. I was thrown off it was vinyl night ....sooo thats why it looked like I stepped into the past....customers were all hipsters...soo if u dig that sene go on wed.night they had pool and shuffleboard....which I loved the shuffleboard I mean

The lines to get in are crazy. The crowd is a little older than college. Drinks are strong which is nice. There is only one bathroom stall so the womans line is insane

I like to come here once in a while when im in town. It is a small spot so it does get crowded, usually they have good dj playing.

Its a dive bar but great spot to get a few beers or pitchers at a great price. Lots of TVs to find the games to watch and a couple pool tables as well.

I am a white male and i witnessed the most racist bouncers and mistreatment of african american women. Hispanic bouncerr who felt himself superior and discounted three african american womens protests of haraasment by a male patron. Ignorant mfer.
