Nice place to grab a bite on a visit to the aquarium. Good mix of seafood options, bar food, and some basic entrees. The clam chowder in a sour dough bread bowl was a standout, and the fish tacos were fresh and tasty. The drink menu had some standards and a couple of unique choices. Food came out fast.

Food was good but nothing to rave about. I asked for well done hamburger and there was a good amount of pink while my mom who ordered hers with pink got well done so pretty sure they switched out burger patties lol the fries and corn dogs for my toddler was cooked perfectly for him. We also got the “Just Peachy” alcoholic drinks that were delicious! The staff was friendly and the place was not overly crowded.

Dined here about a month and a half ago with a friend, and this place was amazingly delicious. The texture of the fries with the crispy outside, and the battered fish was phenomenal. The coleslaw just topped it off and complimented everything very well. My friend got chowdered fries which looked pretty good too. The gentleman that helped us was very kind and checked in with us frequently. Id definitely recommend going here especially at night because they have a band playing too and its just good vibes all the way around. Will be back soon 👍

Service was on point , but my fish sandwich was soggy , my friends fish & chips were good & my girls burger was Big & tasty , so all in all 3 out of the 4 us was happy, I was just craving a crunchy piece of fish 🐟 😋

Clam chowder and bread bowl was AMAZING, high recommend! Live music every night around 8pm that makes it a cute atmosphere. Great service, our waitress was super nice. Also in a cute area with other shops + restaurants, close to the aquarium!

My boyfriend and i wondered in on saturday for lunch. i had the best fried chicken sandwich i’ve ever had and he had the best clam chowder and fish tacos as well. i will definitely be going back!

The location is fantastic close to the ocean if you get a great seat you see a view of the beautiful Monterey Bay. Located right at steinblack Plaza where you get awesome shopping experiences a great Street to stroll on a really good starting point if youre visiting the nearby aquarium. We were seated right away on a busy Sunday which was great. However the food was mediocre. I ordered the lobster roll with the house sauce and the butter sauce on the side. I found myself feeling like there wasnt enough flavor and it lacked excitement. My dad had the only steak they offered which was the prime. He thought it was okay. The service was a little slow but the views of the bay made up for it. I will say this place is a little bit more of a sports bar than a dining restaurant. The staff was very casual and Young it does look like they have night time music so it really is a place to just chill out be casual and grab a quick bite to eat.

Spacious seating. High top as well as low top seating available. The cheeseburger and fries were absolutely delicious!

Decided to stop for a quick bite on Sunday afternoon. Place is clean and laid back good for a quick bite or some drinks. I had the shrimp salad and it was good, but it needed more shrimp and tomatoes & bell peppers were sliced too big. My husband had the nachos with carnitas and those were good. Our server was very friendly and attentive as well.

I was just there yesterday. This has been the worst place I’ve ever ate at before. There was no wait or many people in there so I should have taken that as a hint. We had literally just sat down and the waitress was already asking if we needed more time to order (we hadn’t even looked at the menu yet). I told her no but that I would take a water with a lemon. I wasn’t even done talking when she was already walking away and she didn’t even ask my nephew what he wanted to drink. She came back with two waters and no lemon. I don’t even know how this is possible but the water tasted horrible. My nephew right away noticed that all the workers were high. I didn’t believe it at first but as I started observing them I quickly noticed. We then literally saw the hostess walk outside and hit her wax pen a few times. We finally ordered. When the food came out it looked delicious but it was not good at all. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger. It had no flavor at all! It was only edible because I added salt to it and ketchup but I could only eat half. The onion ring tasted like straight up oil. It took forever to get our check and forever for the waitress to ring us up. This is the first time ever I’ve never left a tip. Now I know to never go to this place when I visit Monterey.

I stop by today like around 4 pm.And the hostess told me that it was going to be a 45 minute wait.That there where really behindIn there kitchen.So she steer me to a different restaurant.I dont mind waiting 45 minutesBut she didnt offer to have a seat and wait if I wanted.Maybe next time Ill try your food and give you a food review.

The vibes are there, but the food was not.Pretzel bite fondue was separated and tasted strongly of onions. The fish tacos were tasteless, except for the cilantro. They looked nothing like the picture from a previous reviewer. Asked for a side of ranch and got what appeared and tasted like tarter sauce..

The food here is delicious. Order the Garlic Fries. We ate here twice while on vacation. 1st time was so good, we had to go again. The 2nd time around was not as pleasant due to waiter being overwhelmed by his rushing and our asking for items repeatedly. Not our job to have to keep asking for same thing. Fortunately, we are not easily deterred. We will return! Food is too good😅

Sly McFly’s was pretty good overall, average of around $23 a person and the food came out pretty quick. Gave them 1 star less for having super small cups that require refills constantly for people, it was a constant ask for tables around us, they are almost toddler size. Food was good and filling, good location in Cannery Row, with a partial view of the ocean.

I would avoid this place . We ended up in this restaurant only because there was no wait time. Quality of food was not good and they were oily. Except calamari which we ordered initial rest all were mediocre. it’s better to walk little further and find decent restaurant then spending money eating at this place . No complaints about person who took our order and served .

The food was delicious but the service horrible. We waiting over a hour for our food. The waiter took my son’s cup to get him a refill and never came back. Ten minutes later the table next to us stopped another waiter to complain about the same thing. Then about 5 minutes after that he brought out my son’s drink but tried to deliver it to the other table. It was not busy, and there seemed to be plenty of staff so not sure sent the service was so bad but the food was delicious.

My husband and I went around 1pm and it was pretty empty. Though its known more for its nighttime scene, the staff was very attentive, the food was fantastic and the view of the ocean was the cherry on top of a great experience. The food portions were huge! You could definitely split the burgers if you dont have a big appetite.Overall great experience!

Sly McFlys is a fun place to hang out. Have grilled food, great drinks, and great live music! I have been going here 14 yrs , and I have never been disappointed.

Wanted to try something different than our usual places while on vacation. Clam chowder wasnt very good, fish in chips were okay but my son really liked the chicken tenders lolWaitress was nice but wont be back.

Music 🎶 was pretty decent after waiting for a bit. My drink was good while my bf got the wrong drink. Then said kitchen closes in 5 minutes and when food comes out super cold 🥶, kindly let the server know and say kitchen is closed. First experience two Stars 🌟 sorry.

We tried to go to Bubba Gumps but they had a 45-minute way. We tried Sly and we got seated right away. Soon we realized why this place had no wait. My Coke was flat, it took 45 minutes to get our food, when it came out or sandwiches were cold and soggy. The clam chowder was warm at best. I had complained about our food taking so long, and he said the place was busy when it was not. Plus the table right next to us got their food about 10 minutes after they ordered. Ill never go to this place again.

Probably the worst food Ive tried in many many years. My fish sandwich had absolutely no flavor and our orders came out all separate and they served my 9 year olds burger 20 mins after we were finished eating. The restaurant is conveniently located but the restaurant itself and the bathrooms were absolutely disgusting. The place wasnt even busy at all and the servers have no idea what good service means. I am super disappointed

We did not have reservation. But was able to get seat in an hour during lunch time. Food was great. Burger, clam chowder both were very good. We sat inside but you can sit outside on the patio near the water as well. Food was prepared and came. quickly which was a nice surprise.

If I could give this place zero stars I would. Came to this place at around 9:30ish to eat since it was the only place open. It took them forever to come up to us even though the place was not that full. We finally got our drinks but no food menu. The lady “taking care” of our table would disappear or just ignore our table. 30 minutes pass and we finally get ahold of someone who tells us the kitchen closed 10 minutes ago… He told us he could get us chips and salsa on the house for the inconvenience only to see that he had put it on our bill. Two drinks plus the chips and salsa $30?!?

Lively. Mixed crowd of young and older. The wait staff was very attentive. Bathroom was clean. The band could be heard from the sidewalk yet wasnt overpowering once inside. Cocktails were mixed well. Shot pours were healthy. Food was better than usual bar food. Recommend the pretzel bites.

This place was really regular & not worth the amount I paid. The waiters were slamming the food down that sauce splashed on my coat. The drinks were blah and so was the food. Don’t waste your time or money. The only thing that was alright was the live music.

Pretty good food in a great location. The clam chowder in a bread bowl was excellent. The fish and chips were good. The calamari appetizer was just okay. Prices were a little steep, but that was to be expected in this location.

My wife and I went there this week for dinner. Hardly any customers and one waiter. We seated ourselves, had to get up and get our own menus, and waited over 15 minutes and no one even came to acknowledged us so we left.

My friend and I happened to pop in during happy hour after exploring the 1 down to Bixby Bridge. Bryanna greeted us from behind the bar. We took a seat at the bar and Bryanna was the sweetest thing. She gave us waters after seeing how unfit we were from the hike. Food and drinks were fantastic, especially during happy hour. One of the best first impressions from a restaurant in quite some time. Hope to be served by Bryanna when I come back!

We went to watch a basketball game, and the server gladly changed the channel for us. Then I had the Fettuccine Alfredo, and my husband had the Loaded Nachos. I am VERY picky about my Fettuccine Alfredo, but it was the best Ive ever had!! The Nachos were also amazing and a meal in its self!! Our waiter was pretty awesome!! Very attentive! AND they had a good live band!!

The service was terrible. We had a younger waiter that sat us down and took my order. I asked for a hamburger with just ketchup and root beer for my drink. The waiter then asked me if I wanted an egg on my hamburger, but I reiterated that I just wanted the hamburger, bun, and ketchup. After taking my order, the waiter disappears. I wait fifteen minutes with no one bringing me my drink. When the waiter finally reappears, I let him know I still haven’t gotten my root beer yet. He goes to the bar area for a bit then comes back to tell me that there is no root beer but he’ll bring me a sprite. Not that I specified I wanted a sprite instead but I just said sure because I wanted some soda with my hamburger. When I finally got my hamburger and fries (before getting my drink), it was alright. While eating, I hear and see two other people behind me with a different waiter get root beers. Once I finished with my food, I get the receipt only to see that the waiter charged me for the most expensive hamburger even though I got the most basic one and charged me for a root beer that I never got. I will never eat here again, and after talking with my parents, they had a similar experience with the same waiter several months prior. DO NOT EAT HERE.

Just went for a late night bar run on a Sunday. They had a great band playing and a good selection of drinks. A very fun spot, would recommend checking it out, especially on live music nights.

Open late with food and fun live music. There were. A couple women and a guy who stole the eve. Even the keyboard player said he missed a key watching them dance so impressively.Service took a while but calamari and Pacifico beers hit the spot. Several other kitchens close at 9. So I will say, service was great. First and foremost, they were friendly and prompt and just overall super nice.For table we sat down at, was..super sticky. Like we put our arms down and immediately got grossed out by it and jumped tables.We ordered some apps,Which was it pricey? Yea.. because its in a tourist zone.For the price I expected more. Either more food, or better quality.The garlic fries litterally had POOLS of grease and oil at the bottom of the bowl. They glimmered in oil. It was actually impressive, Ive never eaten fried with a fork before but me and my friend both felt the need to because it was so unbelievably greasy.The pretzel fondue left so little to be desired. Rip. The pretzels were met, no seasoning very hard round greasy little balls. The cheese fondue was also meh. Luckily we arent picky so we still ate it, because lets be real greasy food is good in its own right, hut for the price paid? A little ridiculous. The atmosphere was very dive bar-ey.Not sure what we expected, but it did make us chuckle. It was overall a bit of a mess. Which once again, wouldnt mind! If they didnt charge like 18 for an appetizer. Kinda looks like a place Gordon Ramsey would come to to fix it up and yell in the fridge over frozen foods.Wouldnt really go back again unless they revamped. The staff obviously carry this place!

The location is fabulous but the service and food were very disappointing. My husband got fish and chips. It was very greasy and had no flavor. There was a puddle of oil at the bottom of the container of fries. The clam chowder made me feel sick. There was some kind of buttery grease on the bread.

Ordered nachos and Mac n cheese bites. Mac n cheese bites were great. Nachos not so much. Needed a cheese sauce instead of shredded cheese that just melted in a clump. Pickled jalapeños would have been better than fresh sliced. This is just my opinion.

This place was good for Lunch. I had the po’boy sandwich. Large sandwich! It was great after I added my sons Tartar sauce and Tabasco sauce 4/5. My son had the fish and chips 3/5. The WiFe had the fish tacos street 4/5. Waitress didn’t know much about the menu. The seafood platter was advertised outside but was not available.

Well located in a popular tourist run. Server was polite and friendly. Big pet peeve of mine is a consistently empty glass. Place was quiet and I and others in my party went dry (for a while) a few times.Food was large. I mean too large to handle without it falling to pieces and making a mess. I am no food expert, and I dont understand restaurants that choose this. Maybe when I was 16 it was fun to try to tackle it. Not anymore.Food was also quite good. Portions were large enough to satisfy.

Overall, this place is okay. What hurts the rating is the service. The food is okay.Food:New England Clam Chowder in a bowl was good. It has a milky taste. Bread wasnt too sour. The $11 price tag doesnt justify the worth. It taste like any other clam chowder you can get at the Cannery.The Alaskan Salmon taste like it was frozen. Part of the fish was dry. It didnt taste fishy, which is what I usually worry about in a fish.The French Dip was okay. Nothing to brag about. The sauce could of been more generous. The meat was good. Not too dry.Service:The server Tyler is quick to get our order. Our drinks came out at a reasonable time. Our food, however took forever... I believe they forgot about us since we saw people who came after us got their food. The food felt warm. Not hot.Price:It was pricey for what it was. For the price I paid, I would expect better service or better food. Both were lacking. Beer will set you $7-9 bucks a glass. Sandwiches are in the $13-$20. Special entries are about $15-$25.Ambience:This place feels cozy. Has a bar vibe. Plenty of seats. Lots of televisions that have multiple games running. There are a quite a few vehicle decors located throughout the restaurant. There is a dance floor and stage for performances.

Barely average food with slow service, had to ask for a refill of water multiple times, and we got our drinks very slowly, food was fine but not exceptional. Go somewhere else even if you have to wait

I dont know why this place has less than 4 stars.The food was fantastic. The service was great. The timing even better.We got there at around 1pm. We seated right away. A waiter camen and offer us the menus. We asked for something to star and it was on oir table in less than 10 min.Our food was brought in less than 20 minutes. Im pretty happy with the placeTotally recommended. 😀

The reason I rated a 3 star ⭐ cause the service was terrible at least the service we had was terrible but I believe the other servers were better just watching them work in the restaurant our servers name was Alberto he didnt really come to check and see if we need anyting every time I was looking for him he was not around didnt even come to see if we need a refill on our drinks.... The food was good so if you decide to try it make sure your server is not Alberto

Bar with great good and atmosphere! Live music on weekends, its a fun filled lively bar. You want good vibes, good drinks, and good company, put this on your list!There are couple bars around Sly, where you can bar hop if you have energy to keep the party going, all within walking distance.Great place for nightcap!

Alex Martin and Jason had my group thoroughly enjoying themselves. Alexs Hennessey Sidecar was so good I ordered 3 more for myself and got 3 more people to order one. The Money Band was great. Its definitely a must stop if youre in the mood for a little Monterey Nightlife.

Jason was super nice and friendly and did a good job getting us our food even with him being the only one on the clock at the time, I recommend the clam chowder bread bowl, fish and chips, and the fried calamari, very nice lil spot to grab a bite to eat.

Food is very good! I had the texas brisket sandwich and my son had the bacon cheese burger. We also shares an appetizer calamari soo good.

First time coming g here and the food was amazing. Our server Darrien was absolutely amazing. We had a great time and definitely enjoyed our food!

I popped in on a whim because they were supposed to be having live music. Unfortunately the band didnt show up, but it was a Sunday night and kind of empty, so I understand. Everything else was great. I sat at the bar. The vibes were very comfortable. The server/host was friendly. The bartender Martin, was amazing. He was very helpful in providing suggestions when I told him I was solo traveling and interested in a day hike, and he has great taste in music! I ordered the garlic fries and they were delicious! I will definitely go back!

Very nice place to grab a bite after visiting the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Its just a short walk down the street. The place is 100% open but only 50% staff. We waited a short 15 minutes for our table. The servicer was very friendly and after ordering our food it wasnt long before our meals arrived. We had the fish and chips, bacon burger and pretzels with beer cheese. Everything was good. One piece of fish out of the 3 was a little soggy. But otherwise ok. Would recommend eating here to family and friends.

Very unfortunate, food took way longer then expected. Service was okay. Asked for extra utensils and was not given. And the food was expensive and below average. Would not recommend😭.

It was just okay for me. Loved the clam chowder, the fish and chips were to bland on the fish side and the fries were stellar.

Came here for a New Years Eve party with a bunch of friends had a great dinner dancing and champagne and a decent band Happy New Year

Waiter was one of the worst we have ever encountered. He seemed completely unconcerned with providing service or of being helpful in any way.

So good we went back twice in the same day! The garlic fries are amazing and the loaded nachos are great too, but theyre definitely for a group! I liked my cocktail and the wine I got at night. The love music is great, the atmosphere is high energy, and the service is great too. The bartenders are nodding along to the beat and seem to be having a great time. During the day there were families with kids eating very good burgers. Definitely will come back and I highly recommend it.

First off...we came in not knowing what to eat around here and saw the menu. Looked decent enough (didnt want to spend a fortune) and we got seated right away. Ordered a draft beer and it came out ICE cold. So many places get it wrong. Second, I ordered the ahi appetizer and it was like it came out of a japanese restaurant. Third, my husband got the cheeseburger and it was huge and he said it was perfect. Our server, Jade, was fast and friendly. She gave us some great tourist ideas to do around town.

Fantastic local eatery that is now open for breakfast. Our Bartender Aiden was so informative of the area and attentive to our every need. I got the two egg breakfast and it was delicious. My partner got the short stack combo and we devoured the whole thing it was so good. Beautiful view with a casual atmosphere. We heard there was great local live music at those venue in the evenings. That’s for another time. We will be back for sure.

We are so glad we found this place on the night of our 1st full day in Monterey Bay! It was super fun, with live music and dancing right on Cannery Row. Perfect place to chill and/or play after dinners! The service was great on the cocktail front - wish we had the chance to try out some of their food! Lots of fun local regulars to watch and chat with! Had a blast!

Location is great. disappointed the food and service was as bad as it was. Had a party of 9 each meal was brought out every 20 minutes cold and not as ordered staff lacked hygiene facility stank like a dirty bar. You can literally eat anywhere else but here and find better service and food. I wouldn’t eat there for free honestly

This restaurant was by the water and outside seating. Food was great though a bit pricy and service was good too. We were just visiting the area so was worth the money spent. Would recommend.

Great atmosphere with live music and decent food but the service was awful! It was the Saturday before Halloween so it was packed. But the server was so busy partying with her friends and petting their Pit Bull that she couldn’t serve anyone else. While I get that area restaurants are pet friendly, the dog should not have been in the restaurant where people were so rowdy. I didn’t feel safe!!!!

The employees were nice but my wine glass was dirty so I asked the server for a new glass which was also very filmy. My fork had dried, caked on food which almost made me throw up. The server acted like it wasnt a big deal, no apology, and the chicken fettuccine was so bland that I couldnt stomach more than 25% of my meal. My son ordered the same thing, and also ate less than half. My husband ordered the tacos, and only said we were never eating there again. Our server disappeared so my husband had to go to the bar to ask for a refill on water himself, and yet we still tipped 20%. Did I mention we will never eat there again? I wont recommend this place either.

We went there on a happy hour to have some beer. We didnt eat anything but we could enjoy and NBA game.

The service here has absolutely been top notch. The food has also been excellent. Been here twice this year and both times have been great. Looks staff is a bit light but everyone has been attentive and beyond helpful. This has been a go to every time we pop by.

Do not order the shrimp taco - unless you like it rubbery and straight and drowned in a disgusting red sauce that tastes right out of a can. The tortilla it’s served in tasted stale and not properly warmed.

Had lunch here with some friends and ordered the steak and potatoes with green beans. The place itself was nice and clean. The service was great. Though the food I received was not worth the amount of food I ordered. The steak was 41$ and was not worth being that much. Disappointing at the fact the steak was more fat than meat, wasn’t throughly cooked all the way, ( the meat wasn’t cooked fully on one side) the mashed potatoes was bland and the green beans were bland as well. I give the place itself 9/10 and the food 7/10.

Went in to have lunch this location. We waited and waited and nobody showed up or even checked in on us. We didn’t have anybody come in to take our drink orders or even our lunch orders. The weight staff came by and checked in another tables, but did not check in on us or take our orders. The people in the tables next to us got up and left and we followed suit. On our way out. Nobody tried to accommodate us, or even help us either, the first time I’ve ever had this happened it’s embarrassing. This restaurant is an embarrassment.

Food was good but seemed overpriced for what you get. Service was downright rude, though. We were there during the off season and were literally the only ones in the whole restaurant around 6pm. Even though they close at 2 AM, the staff seemed visibly upset we were there and rushed us out.

5pm on a Friday, we went to a different popular restaurant first and it was going to be a 2hr wait, so we decided to keep walking instead and happened upon Sly McFlys just a few doors down - we were seated right away! The waitress was very sweet and helpful. The food was great. LOVED the chowder fries appetizer - such a fun local fare, and it felt like a 2 for 1 getting fries & soup. I truly could have just had that as my entree, but since I didnt know better, I ordered the beyond burger as well and it was super yummy! My husband had the fish & chips and said they were great, and my kiddo had the chicken strips and loved them. We also ordered two cocktails (a peach one and the Mule on the Run) and both were fantastic!

Service was really Good.Food was less than desirable.Ordered two fish tacos and I was very disappointed. Worst tacos ever! My wife order some cioppino and wasnt good at all.The only good thing of the visit was the service. Food wise you could go to any other place for better taste and price.Shrimp tacos need a lot of work to say the least. Tortillas need to be fresh. Shring overcooked and salty.Sauce just didnt go with the whole taco. Two tacos for $18

Considering it is their slow season, still they take care of their guests and provide live music.

We popped in after visiting the Aquarium. The chef was by the door when we came in and he smiled - always a good sign. Dominic, our server was charming, efficient and made great recommendations on the menu. We had the fried chicken sandwich and the soft pretzel with a cheese dip (pretzels were just okay) but the sandwich was delicious with the bar-b-que sauce - which we added instead of the recommended dressing.

Overall nice place. Great atmosphere with a live band and sports on tv’s. Lovely waiter with great recommendations for menu items. Had a decent coors light and the boys had two cokes. Would recommend for some drinks and chill vibes

The live band was amazing but OMG the service was horrible! I don’t normally write reviews but this was a MUST! The bartender was taking my husbands order and then started serving all the usuals and ignored my husband for a good 20 minutes….yes 20! He got her attention and tried to finish his order and then got major attitude with him rolling eyes and all. She barked at him and all he did was check in on the order, so unnecessary! Then the other bartender was supposedly the manager and my husband tried to talked to him about what was going on and the guy said “I don’t want to talk about all that dude”…not sure I will be going back. They need to open a window or get an air conditioner because it was so hot that we ended up leaving.

The fish tacos were yummy and fully loaded! Ordered take out the food was fast and delicious.

Ordered the Ultimate Bloody Marys far from ultimate..bacon still had cold white film of grease on it..shrimp that they had on as a garnish had a horrible taste to them..the bread bowl calm chowder, yikes stale bread with about a half cup of chowder in it..kinda pricey for the amount and quality they give you, okay so we ordered the shrimp tacos missing ingredients like the cotija cheese and the Chipotle sauce on the tacos, but she did offer us thousand island sauce for our tacos🤔🤣🤣🤣but I do have to say that our waitress was great and helpful...1st and last time we visit..sorry but $70 + tip for that meal..no thanks

I left a 1 star review on their yelp addressing the very weak and bad tasting cocktails we had, and the bar tender took it upon herself to message me on Yelp and tell me how I’m wrong, but for some reason I can’t message her back…interesting.Anyways, we spent $50 on 3 bad cocktails. Do not recommend.

If you want live music, fine. But dont come here for the food or service.FOOD- After 24 years in Monterey I moved to walking distance of Slys. Have now eaten there twice in the last month. (1) Chicken sandwich was unremarkable except its pretty big (and pretty greasy) so plan to take half home. (2) Worlds worst nachos. For $19 (nachos only- not a meal) they skimped on the chicken, cheese and guacamole. Just enough on top to make it look good, but bottom 2/3rd was just chips. Chicken was bland and did not seem grilled. No salsa. No green onions or other flavors. Worse, it was slathered with some kind of vinegary aioli sauce that had no place anywhere near a Mexican dish. My friend and I found ourselves avoiding the aioli while digging around hoping to find some chips with cheese and chicken. We stopped eating a quarter the way through and walked away from the rest.TABLE SERVICE- Both times (a Saturday and a Sunday night) we were served by same guy who gets simple well drinks wrong, does not bring napkins with the drinks, no roll-ups/utensils with the food, no salt/pepper or ketchup/mustard with the meals and needs to be asked multiple times for all this. Did not stop by to ask how things are going or if anything else is needed. These were not busy nights with at least half the seats empty.LADIES ROOM- Expect lines and wait times if the place is even moderately busy. Notorious lines on busy Fri/Sat nights.

Always a nice place to stop and eat a bite and have a drink. Due to covid everything is outdoors on the patio so their is no nightly music for now.

In a three letter word, bad. Bad food, bad service, bad atmosphere. They had no water, iced tea or lemonaid because of a plumbing issue which was apparently ongoing for the day and didnt bother to bring in some bottled water. They got the order wrong. The fish batter was completely raw under the surface leaving the fish inedible. The slaw looked and tasted lije it had been left in an open container on a refrigerator shelf for days. The shrimp tacos were bland. The wait staff removed the fish from the tab but didnt seem to care. The floor were dirty. Restaurants have bad days but there were just too many things wrong with this experince to let it slide.

If you want bar food and don’t care about quality this will work for you. My clam chowder in a bread bowl was heavy and had the consistency of tapioca. The steak was cooked to medium + when ordered medium rare. Sent back and the second was not much better. The wait staff was very congenial and the best part of our experience.

I ordered an excellent Burger even though it didnt come with the egg on it, they had already ran through their eggs. It was a comfortable place the employees were very friendly, Im definitely going back.

Took a long time to get service. Server took food order from people seated after us. Error made in one of our orders twice. Fish had very little flavor. No refills given for sodas. Bathrooms out of order in restaurant.

Really bland food, not really any seasoning at all. Sandwich bread was like toasted stale bread. Good-ish service because my friends order got messed up so they didnt charge us and gave us extra stuff for free.

We visited this place on a weekend, so it was probably busier than usual. We got a table quickly, but we had to wait a long time to get food. The food was just OK, nothing special.

So good! The fish sandwich and the fish tacos were amazing! The service was quick and friendly. The drink that I got was amazing! We overheard the bartender talking to different patrons and he really seemed to enjoy his job but also just seemed very proud of his bar. I would love to come back in the evening and hang out and drink while they have music

Popped in for some fish and chips to-go after the aquarium. I needed them super fast since we had a baby ready to nap on the car trip home. They said they’d be out in five minutes, and not only were they out in five minutes… they were fantastic! And the staff was extremely friendly and personable.

Love love this place! Live music every day! Amazing staff, the bartenders ( David, JJ, & Porter) are always very attentive and friendly. The waitstaff is also excellent (Dominic), always with great recommendations and advice about localventures. Love this place. I’ll be back again.

Im honestly confused by a lot of these reviews. The food is not great. I had a clam chowder bread bowl and the clam chowder was ok. But the bowl was not even filled and the sourdough was so bland. It almost tasted like basic white bread. The price was expensive for what it was. I would have been better off spending the lesser price on a cup. The servers were nice even though they were short staffed and we were seated without a reservation. Dont know if Id go back for the food. Maybe some drinks and live music.

I gave two stars because the waitress was nice and we enjoyed the appetizer. It was a long wait for what we were hoping was going to be excellent dinner. The hostess was less than friendly. We ordered nachos that were mostly chips with a small amount of toppings. My daughter was left hungry and grabbed something else after we left. I was really excited about the clam chowder. It was vaguely warm and mostly potatoes. It was definitely not worth the wait or the prices.

Plenty of live music. Great location. Disorganized, inattentive service. Both male bartenders addressed me with disdain. Bartenders act like youre causing them an inconvenience to order a drink....unless you are an attractive younger woman.

Very nice fish and chips with a large amount of fish, service was attentive without being overbearing and gave refills when needed, and has good burgers while also having better fettuccine Alfredo than other nearby restaurants. Solid choice!

The Signature Burger was great and quite a portion. Shrimp Tacos were also pretty good, really nice sauce with some pineapple pieces in it. Overall we can really recommend this place.

People were friendly.. and the location is great. Thats all the place has going for it.We intended to eat dinner here.. we sat down and the place was visibly dirty and the tables were sticky. We ordered two waters and a Moscow mule first along with calamari.The water tasted like fish, pretty weird. The mule didnt have barely any alcohol. (I rarely drink, so I am very sensitive to the taste.) We got the calamari and it was like rubber. It was clearly from a frozen package. It was all so gross we decided wed rather go hungry and got our check.As we were leaving, we saw a waiter or bartender behind the bar cough into his hands, then start touching glasses. The manager was briefing the staff 5 feet away and didnt say anything.The place has so much potential, but cleanliness standards and food quality are definitely sub par. We joked we were were on episode of kitchen nightmares.

Very Cool Place. We did show up with a group of about 15 people on a Tuesday. But they were not busy. There were only 7-8 other people in the entire place. But we over whelmed them. The waiter couldnt keep track of who ordered what. Just brought to the table and asked. But wasnt very clear.Fish was overcooked and the breading was charred.

Live music everyday. Plenty of room. Food is fair for the price. Lower the price its perfect!!! Only one bartender at the bar some delays, have patience and be rewarded. Lovely location and views. A must go to spot for all ages. If its busy its usually a good idea to go there.

Dave the bartender was a wealth of cocktail knowledge and very open to sharing recipes. Himey was very personable and a great bartender that brought us back despite the challenges of parking nearby.

Sly, you live up to your name. 4/10. I dont understand the 5 star reviews. Glad the alcohol was served first. Garlic fries drowned in oil. Chowder was watery. Salad lacked in everything but lettuce and tomato. I will use Sly as a learning experience. good luck to you.

Great atmosphere!!!! They had a live band who played really good!!!Drinks were well prepared and we had the claim chowder fries which were the bomb 💣 😋The only thing I had a problem was they didnt have enough help but that like that everywhere!!!Highly recommended!!!

We made it in just before the lunch crowd. We got to try two of their specialty drinks, my wife had something pink I cant remember the name, and I as usual tried the old fashioned. We also ordered some garlic fries. When you first walk in there was a sign that said 100% open with 50% staff. With all that in hand they did an awesome job. The garlic fries came out super hot and fresh and were some of the best fries Ive had outside of San Francisco Giants Stadium.

Stopped by for lunch today! They had white claws which always makes me happy, my dad had a Bloody Mary and said it was amazing, my mom had wine. We all loved our food and the service was great! We will absolutely be back!

Upon entering this restaurant while on a trip to monterey, i quickly pulled out my phone to check out the reviews. I was shocked to see the long list of bad reviews for this restaurant. Still i sat down and thought Id give it a chance. Im happy i did. Right away, i was greeted by a waiter with a menu. He was super friendly and kind. He came back with drinks and took our orders almost immediately. My friend ordered a burger and fries while i ordered the clam chowder bread bowl. The food was ready very fast and was served hot and delicious. There were no problems with the food and the order was perfect. The waiter made a habit of stopping by to make sure we were okay and ask if we needed anything. He constantly refilled our drinks and was very polite. The burger was enormous and the clam chowder bread bowl was of good size. The restrooms were clean and the music was nice. The bill was $30 for a party of two, which is pretty typical for a casual restaurant on cannery row.

Monday evening and I am literally the only person eating. A few guys drinking. Hats off to the server but the food was mediocre. Shrimp tacos. Shrimp was mushy, sauce uninspired. Three stars only because its tough to run a restaurant right now but the better places have a line out front. These guys need to up their game.

Though they were short-staffed, they did everything they could to seat us and serve us as quickly as possible. My lunch partner had a tasty grilled shrimp salad and I had their delicious fish and chips. We will definitely be back!

Chose to eat here because it was less crowded than other restaurants in the area and now I know why. The food was bland - including a completely flavorless salsa. Empty glasses the whole meal. The calamari was definitely made from frozen. Extremely messy burger also.

This is a terrific bar and always a good stop when in Monterey. Usually sit at the bar rather than a table, and its mostly for morning bloody Marys or afternoon bar snacks, like their huge nachos with chicken plate. I love the fast service and location. Plus the bartenders staffed here are friendly and fast.

The service was so bad we were actually laughing. We sat at the bar just before noon and had to wait for the bartender to finish his prep work and make excuses for why the bar was such a complete mess. After he finished his chores he finally served us the wrong beers. We tried to say something about this and the bartender started arguing with us! He didnt even bother to pour himself a taste. After asking to finally get a menu we listened to three or four bad jokes about us wanting to eat in a restaurant... We didnt realize that he was serious about not eating, he proceeded to ignore us and talk to some women sitting at the other end of the bar. While we were struggling to get his attention, and unsuccessfully attempting to order from passing servers, he took two other parties orders! Even though we walked in knowing exactly what we wanted, we didnt get to order our food for almost a half an hour after sitting down! We skipped the main course and left after our appetizer.

Here currently at the bar to have drinks and listen to some live music. Band is great, but we have been completely ignored by the bartender the majority of the time after arriving so he can talk politics with the couple next to us.We tried flagging him down multiple times around the time the band started @ 945, but he was too wrapped up in his conversation that we missed the kitchen being opened. We ended up finishing our drinks and leaving since we werent even being served. Very frustrating since we went out of our way to come to this location.

Food was fine, ordered two drinks they didnt have the stock for either so just asked for something fruity with vocka on my third ask I received a drink. Used the bathroom before leaving, floor was so wet I almost fell. I let an employee know he didnt say a word and was face to face with him. Will not return.

I wish I could give zero stars! We went there being that it was not crowded like most of the other restaurants. We ordered the shrimp tacos and the shrimp was mushy. My daughter got the cheese burger and the meat was not cooked through so she ended up sick from it. Avoid this place at all cost!

Went to restaurant celebrating Father’s Day with my family. Waited for half hour as specified and called upon on time. Restaurant was short with waiters or waitresses however that did not take away from every person I came in contact with. Friendly, courteous, and professional.We ordered 2 clam chowder bowls, shrimp salad, shrimp tacos, the B L A T, fish sandwich, my daughter ordered tacos al pastor and last but not least my 3 year old mini corn dogs. Food was fresh, hot, great taste and flavor.I would like to give a big thanks to our waiter Rumel V.Outstanding service and courteous. Big party and was attentive to everyone’s needs.

Avoid this place.We ordered fish and chips, a tuna melt, and a clam shower.The clam chowder tasted like it was poured out of a can and microwaved, the tuna melt could best be described as pedestrian, if I were being generous. The tuna inside was cold and the American cheese slices weren’t even melted. Yes, American cheese.The fish and chips were passable.The server was very sweet and friendly, and somewhat attentive.We were hungry. It was food. I would never eat here again.

There wasnt much atmosphere here . The food was really good from the chowder bread bowls to the garlic fries and the burgers were large tasty with a lot of condiments inside plus the shrimp tacos were enjoyed and my 2yr old grandson finished his fish and chips . The service was slow. It seemed they were short staffed for the customers there.

I would not recommend this place to anybody. We went there on a Friday around noon, it was a 10 min wait on seating and the place had plenty of open tables. We had asked for a booster seat, the waiter took ten minutes to bring one, and he only brought us one when I waved my arms to catch his attention, while he was B.Sin at the bar. We didnt receive beverages til after our food as well. As we were waiting on the check I decided to take our daughter outside because she was getting moody. The manager made a rude comment saying oh yeah get that outta here, we dont need that. While waving his hands in a shooting motion, mind you shes a few months shy of being 2yrs old.

Took a min for a host to speak w us and then was rude......Sat a few mins b4 a server came ever, which is normal but then he misunderstood everything we said and we kept having correct him. We ordered a second drink to be served WITH the food and he brought it to us after he gave us our first drink.....havent had our food yet but not expecting anything better.(edit) 1 order came w ingredients w asked to not have...asked for garlic butter and was given a cup full of butter and another tub of garlic.....steak was great but why stack a steak into of green beans on top of fries....my fries were soggy... We told the server 2 checks b4 ordering and it still came as one bill.anytime the server came over he never made eye contact n just looked at his pad.....table was so wobbly that everytime I cut my steak our drinks began to spill....NO TIP!

The service is here is very good; everyone seems really attentive. Theres a small stage for some live music which is cool. There are interesting decorations and artwork everywhere so youll never get bored looking around. The bar looks well stocked, too. The portions, for the price, arent that great but the clam chowder bread bowls are certainly tasty. If youve got any dairy allergies youll want to avoid this place entirely. Its very much a tourist bar for tourist prices.

Went to Monterey for the weekend and while on Cannery Row we got hungry and decided to try this place out. I got the Halibut Fish and Chips and my wife got the Cod Fish and Chips- both were amazing! Great flavor, good fish, batter was tasty and the sides were good too. The Halibut was very tasty and so was the Cod, expensive but worth the money for the meals. Nice environment and friendly staff, although it gets very busy and crowded- would recommend

We have visited this restaurant twice during our stay in Monterey. We thought the menu was varied and good value. We were especially impressed with the waitress who served us on both occasions. She had remembered us and what we had ordered a couple of days ago. We mostly ordered fish which was delicious. My youngest daughter also enjoyed the kids menu.

Cool pub style atmosphere. Fish and chips are great. The bar is right in the middle. Stage in the corner. Looks like a fun late night spot. Nice to see a coupe local beers on tap. The whiskey selection is probably the best part about the bar. Overall good location and friendly while being reasonably priced

Service was slow. Looked like there was one guy responsible for every table in the restaurant. The food was great. They have a kids menu for the kids. I had the fish and chips. I will be going back when Im back in town.

I was craving fish tacos & this place had some great ones. Hubby had the steak & potatoes & that was delicious too. Service was slow, but they are short staffed. We werent in any hurry. We opted to sit at the bar to avoid waiting 25 mins for a table. The bartender gave us a discount for our wait. We are visiting from out of town & will be back when we come to the area again.

This place was a joke. I got the French Dip, husband got the Surf N Turf. Both disgusting. Fries were cold. $10 Peach Margarita tasted like the toilet water in the hotel room. Blew $55 when we could have gone to Subway for a much better meal. Waitress didnt check in once with us and we sat at the table waiting for the debit card to return after paying for over 20 minutes. (Edited: waitress lost my card hence the 20+ minute wait. We had to flag down another waiter to hunt down our waitress to bring it back to us...)Pretty sure the only good thing here is the bottled beer, if that could be trusted.Absolutely awful. Dont waste your time, or energy. Should have known better, but as out of town guests, I would have expected all decent places on Cannery Row. The little shrimp that are floating up on the beaches would probably be a better choice.

Will not eat there again. Also making sure friends and family dont ever eat there. The server was nice enough, polite when present, but was more interested in chatting with his coworkers than tending to his tables. We waited a long time just to order, and it wasnt even busy. There were maybe 4 other tables full. We had to ask multiple people for things, since he was too busy for us. We were charged for items that we never received, even though they were ordered and asked for multiple times. The food was mediocre at best, and way overpriced. The burger patties were lacking flavor, and had a rubbery chew to them. I hardly ate half of mine. The appetizer reminded me of something youd take out of your freezer and microwave, as did the fries. I honestly dont know how they are still in business. Sad.

Service is alright, atmosphere is alright, food is mediocre. 1 drink, 1 appetizer, and 2 entrees came out to $70, and the thing we probably liked best was the free water with the lemon slice.

My favorite place to go on the Peninsula for the decade Ive been back. Live music every night. Nice mix of locals and tourists. Since changing management recently, its only gotten better and better. The food especially is vastly improved. Theres a new dance floor and service has always been top notch.

Despite having a sign posted that they are only at 50% staff they took great care of me and my family. Service was exceptional. Food was phenomenal. Beer selection is great. New favorite spot and will be returning whenever we visit!

I really don’t agree with all these bad reviews. I came here on a Saturday night and ordered dinner and drinks from the bar. The Caesar salad was good, the clam chowder was delicious, the drinks were on point and the bartenders and servers were friendly and professional. No complaints here.

I remember when Slys used to be the happening spot. Always great times. Today was a sad realization that they arent the same place anymore. Its new years eve and practically empty. Somehow it still took 10 minutes to be greeted and seated. The hostess must have been on break. When my family of 5 finally sat down we were told about a special menu and conditions for the night starting at 8PM. It was 6pm when we got here and we were hoping to be out before 8. But the customer service was non-existant. A woman sat us and took our drink orders and never came back. We were greeted by another gentleman that seemed irritated by our presence. He kept rushing us as if we were a problem. And he glared often which made our children feel uncomfortable. We stopped after 1 drink and an appetizer and our server seemed to be delighted. I get it, its a part night and we brought kids, but we were early enough to have a decent dinner and be out before the party, but we decided dinner would be better somewhere else. Its not the Slys I remember and its still dead. I cant even imagine partying here. Well bring in the new year somewhere else. Not sure of Slys got new owners, but they could use some new ones now.

Such a let down. We brought friends & family down and talked about how amazing our experience was last year. Service was not good, waitress didn’t come to check on us as often as she should in my opinion, mostly because there were 3 hostesses and only one gal waiting tables, food so so, but nothing to rave about. First, we came in and needed a table for a party of 8, we were told they could offer us two separate tables or to come back 15 minutes later so they could slid two tables together, at that time (530pm) there were only 2 tables occupied. Secondly, we were told that there were no steaks - for dinner on a Saturday night - out of steaks!?!?!?!? along with several on tap beers. Our dinner came out one plate at a time, the clam chowder was mostly potato soup, my daughter in law ordered a Margarita flat bread and was brought out chicken flat bread, so we all were starting to eat so our food didn’t get cold, by the time hers came out we were all nearly done, her food was cold and soggy, the waitress then offered a cup of clam chowder on the house. The live music was far too loud and horrible. We do not ever plan on returning to Sly McFlys.

My first time being there wasnt bad, they had live music which was nice, they had a little dance floor for people who likes to show off their dance moves. I just wish I knew the songs they were singing, didnt sound like a cover but some people knew so it must be a local band, and I could barely hear the singer, just maybe needed a sound check. We didnt order food only drinks, it started pretty good, but after the 1st drinks the server forgot we were there and took 20mins for our 2nd order, which was understandable coz it was a Saturday night and busy but you cant just forget, but he was honest about it and apologized, but when our 2nd drinks came which he recommended, it tasted like spoiled lime was mixed on it so we ended up leaving after that hence the -1star, well come back some other night maybe on a slower night.

African american waiter was very rude...it was a party of 6 sat down at a table and ask the waiter to clean the table, she gave us attitude, we were actually trying to help her by asking her for a cleaning rag and she still blew us off...and waited like 40 min for her to clean the table!!! Bartender as well was rude...good music and great place for dancing but wont be going back....i usually spend about 300 every two weeks there! And waiter was also being rude to the ones next to us!!!!

Came on a weekend and it was pretty crowded. We didnt have to wait so I liked that. Got the sliders and the artichoke flatbread and both were really good. Hands down the best bar food in the area. The band was excellent too. Fun place.

This restaurant was a great surprise as we stumbled upon it during our quick weekend get away. The fish tacos were amazing and my hubby loved the hamburger! We would definitely recommend this place to family and friends.

Had steak for 1 entree and bacon cheeseburger for the other. Steak needed garlic butter but was amazing. The bacon cheeseburger was to die for. Had also their crusty bread and just peachy drink. Definitely a go to stop for dinner! Service was good as well, all outside(July 2020) and very nice views.

Three stars is pretty generous.On the plus side the kids food was above a little above average. Also, our friend reported his red snapper sandwich was pretty good. And the onion rings werent bad.But the rest of the food was significantly below average. I could hold my breath and name 10 places to get a burger for less than $5 that would be better than the $14 burger I had here. The bread was stale, the meat overcooked and the rest of it just kind of sad.The big problem though was the service. Im not mad at our server. She was a pleasant young woman who seemed to be trying the best she could, she just didnt know what to do. One of our meals was forgotten and took 10 minutes for her to come back so we could tell her. Drink refills and side requests (salad dressing isnt too big of an ask) either didnt come or took forever. Being busy at lunchtime on the weekend isnt much of an excuse. How easy is it to predict that a restaurant next to the aquarium is going to filled with families on weekends and holidays?And the bathrooms were really gross.I get wanting to try this place, it seems kinda cool from the outside... How bad could it be? But my reccomendation is skip it. Almost anywhere nearby would have to be better.

For starters, the service is not great. The servers themselves are nice, but disorganized. It wasn’t even that busy when we went and you’d have thought there were no servers in the whole place. When the food came, the chowder was cold. The fish and chips were soggy, greasy, and bitter. The batter is passing itself off as an ale batter but it’s not great. Overall, there are way better places to go in the area. Avoid.

WORST RESTAURANT I HAVE EVER BEEN TO!I have never written a review before but I have to warn others about stopping here on their travels.It may be easier to list the problems as there were so many!!1. We spent approximately 1.5 HOURS waiting for our food to come. In the end we had to get up and leave as we were hungry and wanted dinner. The waitress kept saying it was coming soon, and again ‘ your food is coming soon’ .... I highly doubt that our food order was even placed as when we said we are leaving, our waitress was very quick to let us go.2. There were only 2 waitresses serving a large volume of tables3. You were unable to attract anyone’s attention to order any drinks/ food4. Our waitress was very unwelcoming and fake. It was as if it was an issue for her to take our order.I would just like to warn anyone from eating here on their holiday as it a night wasted!! It reminded me of one of those restaurants that Gordon Ramsey needs to go in and change EVERYTHING!!

Food was ok but not spectacular. Pricey for what you get...but what do you expect on Cannery Row? Lobster roll was one of the best Ive had but I can count the number Ive eaten in my lifetime on one hand. Our waitress was very accommodating given that my son (a toddler) was behaving as expected for his age.

HelloWe attended the New Years event 2018-2019. Wanted to let Mcflys now how I thought it went. First of all Jimmy the General Manager was very personable and helpful when I made reservations for four of us. Our reservation time was for 7:15. We were seated promptly. The appetizer came first a soup and salad. This is where my suggestions for improvement come in. The mushroom soup could have been a little more substantive since it seemed a little more than a broth and had nothing in it but a few potato skins on top. The salad with goat cheese and fruit was good. What was lacking was perhaps some warm French bread with butter to add to the appetizers. The main course was good which our table asked for the filet minion and salmon. The flavors were excellent however the portions on the small side again some bread would have helped. From the time we were seated to our main course took two hours this seemed too long to wait for the main course at any restaurant. The service was good but the drinks did take a little extra time from the bar but not excessive. Over all for $70 dollars a plate, the time and portions could have been better. About $75 dollars in drinks was not too bad. The live music was excellent. I’m not sure if I would do it again next year if the things I pointed out weren’t improved. My opinion is the regular menu has bigger portions and is faster than the specialMenu for New Years. Jimmy hope this helps. Thanks Tom

This place was great. Food was delicious, service was fast. Waiter checked up on my and my gf to see if we needed any refills or anything. Was great place to eat I ordered and hamburger cant remember the name but had onion rings on it was huge! And well done like I had asked. My gf had the bread bowl clam chowder she liked it very much. Food was great service was super fast. Inside was really clean and nice, wouldve liked a bit more fries but they were really good besides that. Great place!

Food was pretty bland.. had fish and chips. Wouldnt order again. Tried to get managers attention at hostess desk because we had no silverware, he was looking right at me and ignored me. Our server was good though.

A bar pretending to be a restaurant, and it shows. Everything is over-fried. The garlic fries were drenched with oil and you couldnt taste any garlic. Shrimp tacos were okay but nothing special. If youre thinking of eating here, do yourself a favor and walk an extra thirty feet to the Fish Hopper instead.

The restaurant seemed nice initially however the service was not very good. They started by getting the drinks wrong and then were particularly unfriendly to me and my family. Other tables were getting their food before us despite arriving afterwards, and they were very quick to bring the bill and get rid of us. The food was mediocre, nothing special. There was better available for around the same price at other nearby restaurants.Might be good for non-families or those there to see the live music. But I would look elsewhere with a young family.

Been here many times and had great experiences so hard to knock,but,... This time not so much. Ordered bottle of red wine, it was so warm it was like it had been stored in a trunk in summer. They did find a more expensive wine that was acceptable. GF wanted halibut and chips...they were out. Ok, backup cheese burger well done. Came out medium rare and sent back. Second try, 1/2 of burger was well done, other half still medium rare. Not good. Waitstaff did not bring any setups, no knife and fork just some cheap paper napkins. They are remodeling so atmosphere not so good. Think Ill wait until next spring before trying again.

If I can give 0 stars, I would. The manager with the rotten teeth has a rotten attitude to match. His kitchen made a mistake and he just expected the customer to be okay with it. If not, the best they could do was 20% off. Place is a joke and the food is garbage.

This is our favorite place to eat when we come to the aquarium, its on the way from the parking garage and always accommodates our large stroller! Staff is always friendly and service is quick, and most importantly the food is excellent! You have to try the fish and chips, hands down the best!

This is the first time that I feel that have the responsibility to remind other potential customer to be aware of beforehand. This is also the first time that I feel that posting on Yelp is not sufficient, and the words have to be populated to broader audience.I would give 0 star if the food is not that reasonable. We stopped by on Nov 30th at noon, here are what happened:1. No utensils provided when the appetizer was served. No way to find the waitress who helped us to order, have to figure out where were the utensils located in the restaurants by ourselves2. We ordered Street Tacos with shrimp, but it came with chicken.3. We tried to ask help from the waitress to change the tacos, as she was standing by next table at then. However, it became impossible as she kept talking with the ladies next table for about 10 mins, without giving us a glance even at once. Finally she just stepped away, and we had to talk to another manager for help.4. The Grilled Swordfish came with rice. The rice was raw. It was as raw as trying to help chicken digest the food since they dont have tooth.

They got us seated quickly and we’re awesome about making sure we were served in a timely manner. The food was tasty! The sly’s pineapple Rita was super yummy as well! Great place!

We ate lunch there. I ordered the fish and chips. It was good, a bit spendy for the portion but it tasted fine. They were busy and short staffed so we were there longer than expected.Dont order nachos, sad!

They are indeed sly. The prices change on your receipt and theyll charge you 50% of your beer price to upgrade you from a 16oz to a 20oz which is not printed on the menu. Food is fine, but doesnt really make up for the lousy pricing and shady tactics. Theres a dozen honest eateries in walking distance, go there.

This is a great dive bar atmosphere. This place had the game on and I was able to enjoy an incredible burger. It was gloomy so I got the hot toddy and enjoyed the afternoon

Awesome band. Only place to hangout on a Wednesday night. Oh yea!

Location, location, and location is the only thing good about this place. The service was horrible and the management was more concerned about giving the waiter and waitresses change. He was oblivious to customer service. His name was Brian. Brian also served an off duty server a glass of wine while we waited 17 minutes before we got noticed at the bar. I know they were a bit stressed, but being a bartender and server I know, making sure the customer is noticed within a 1 minute time frame is key! This also started with the hostess promising people that checked in after us seats at the bar before people on the waiting list. This was bad service and I will never be back.

Food was just ok. Fish & Chips tasted like they came from a box in the grocery store. Service was marginal too.

We tryed 2 different sandwiches, my was the Blat, I ask for that option cause the avocado, but I feel kinda salty cause the bacon, still it was good, other hand we tried the fried calamari steack sandwich, it was diferente but pretty good. The atmosphere was casuall, the live music really made a big difference. The service was, our waitress said that our order went in a wrong table and we wait for the next. I will recommend if you want enjoy a drink and music, other ways be patient for your food.

A very cool joint to stop in for cocktails and live music. We had already eaten, so we didnt try the menu. The service was awesome, and the Old-Fashioned cocktails were definitely better than Bubba Gumps. A very big dancing area as well, if you want to cut a rug.

Went here at night with a few friends, for the music.We were lucky to find a seat!The place was packed, the dance floor was as well.I was designated driver so I drank coca cola, the bartender was very quick.He made sure everyone had drinks and gave us all service with a smile.They have really great bands here, I will definitely be at Sly McFlys again.

Horrible service. We arrived around 7:00 And started receiving our food around 9:00. At first I noticed that my burger had pickles and onions (which I specifically didnt ask for). Then I noticed that my burger was very cold. After waiting for 2 hours we were treated with a cold burger and a waiter telling us to leave because we had a child in our party. We had high expectations for this place, and if I were you I wouldnt go. Dont waste you time and go somewhere else.

They get one star because I cant give them 0. We were seated quickly but waited 20 minutes for drinks and we had to ask for the menu, then we waited 35 minutes to order. When we got our drinks mine and my husbands had FOOD floating around in them! Food came out cold, the waiter didnt ask anyone if they wanted a refill or even come ask how we were doing. First time eating at this restaurant and our experience was horrible. Our waitress purposely ignored us because she walked by our table several times without acknowledging us and it took another waiter to point to our table (I’m assuming) to let her know that she has customers who were waiting for her. The look on her face was less than pleasant as we both locked eyes before we knew that she was our waitress. She served all the other customers in her area before she came to get our drink order even though we were seated before the others quite a while before they came into the restaurant. This was one of the longest wait that we had to wait to get service and our drinks. We should’ve saw the red flag and leave, but decided to give Sly Mcfly a try anyway. Boy, were we in for a surprise.We ordered a pasta dish, a hamburger with fries, and a fish from their daily special menu. Our food was as expected just like the service. It was COLD and UNPLEASANT. We received 2 out of the 3 main dishes except for the fish. My sister and I were done with our meals and my brother had yet to receive his fish dish. Then the manager walks over and apologizes about the delay. Finally, our waitress walks over and apologizes too, but we felt that she only did that because she saw her manager apologizing first.We really had high hopes for this restaurant because we visit this area regularly. However, we will not be returning to Sly based on our first experience. The one star is for seating us otherwise it would be zero stars.

Food had almost no flavor, tasted like reheated freezer meals. The beef in the burger was obviously not ground on-site, it tasted like a beef flavored freezer. The fries were hot, but flavorless and the mozzarella sticks were bland as well. The service was nice and friendly, but they should be aware of their awkward, inappropriate conversations when around customers.

Fish and chips! they claim to have beer battered cod.....they do !! you can taste the difference...even the chips were cooked perfectly...had a great experience, ice tea was tasty as well. becareful the bacon cheeseburger was DELICIOUS! This is a great relaxing place...thanks for the good eats, service and experience!!

Every time I stay in monterey I make sure to stop here. I love the atmosphere and the live music they have. The bouncer last night was really nice and friendly. Overall always a great experience.

Must have caught them at an unexpectedly busy time, but we received some fairly poor service. Hostess seemed barely bothered to seat us, our server (lovely, very much trying her best,) forgot our starter. When we asked the second server when our mains were served, he said he would look into it but no mac n cheese bites ever appeared. For much of the time the tv screens were blank before we asked to get some sport on them (anything!). My veggie dish must have been waiting while they were preparing my partners meat dish because it was a little cold and a little sad. When I asked for a refill for my drink, it was finally served after our plates were cleared and we had our bill. If they staff themselves better for the amount of customers, it would likely be a good place to go, unfortunately our visit was a little disappointing.

Live music, dance floor, drinks and clam chowder bowls! They also have T.V and amble seating. Great place for an after dinner drink for a very reasonable price.

My husband and I stopped in as we were celebrating our Anniversary. We had an amazing time. Their staff was wonderful as well as the band and we met so many nice people that night. Great crowd. We had a blast.

Great band, The Stingrays, play there. Burgers are outstanding. Having a blast. Yes yes yes 👍 Stellar music tonight. Great burger. The Stingrays again.

2 stars for having decent live music. Service sucked. Sat for over 45 minutes without a waitress helping us. Was not even that busy. They serviced every other table except ours. Bar is understaffed. Drinks slightly overpriced. Would not go back or recommend. Your money and time is best spent elsewhere.

We were there for breakfast. Fajita omelet, and classic eggs Benedict were made our morning! Awesome servant! Thank you guys!

Hands down, the most terrible meal Ive had in my life. There are no words to truly explain how my palate was violated by this filth. The best fish and chips on the Row. Must have been a review from 1952, because I think that is when the fish was frozen. Rubbery and bland!!! The fries were simple frozen shoestring fries, yet disgusting. I assume they were fried in old grease from the night before. We were the first lunch customers, so I cant imagine how later meals would taste. As we were leaving, we heard a couple 2 tables over complaining about their meal. STOP!!! PLEASE!!! SAVE YOURSELF!!! Go somewhere else... Anywhere else... Possibly a gas station or a creepy van.

Arrived from a 2 hour drive into Monterey. Requested a Lyft to find a little excitement before bed. First choice being this place. We’ve been before but always during the day. Researched spots & what was open short noticed. Husband & I wanted to have a quick drink together. Sly McFly’s being an option & familiar, we took to it. “Closing at 2 am.” According to google. We went through with it as a choice. Arrived at 12. (Mind you, closing hours said 2am) Walked up, music loudly playing with very few inside. But chill. As soon as my husband & I approached. Bar tender turned music down & made it clear that their night was done! Instantly. Disappointment. We were brushed off & sent to go walk down to Segovia Cocktail’s. Thankfully, next bar wasn’t far & welcomed us with open arms. We were able to continue the night. Moral of the story. Please up date your hours if changed or have more welcoming employees who are willing to go the extra mile. Not fair we Lyfted to a destination to just get turned away.

Service was amazing! Came here from another place that gave us terrible service. Sly Mcfly is our new go to place with friends! The service is amazing i enjoyed my night!
