Having lived in Santa Monica CA where getting a massage is a weekly experience, I consider myself a bodywork connoisseur. Thus it was no surprise that it took me three years to find a masseuse who met (actually exceeded) my expectations!Julio is an extraordinary bodywork expert who actually understands why the human body is causing pain. He knows how to get peak performance from every joint, muscle, and nerve. After the second session my migraines were gone. Having suffered from dizziness for three years I had accepted that this was just to be. After five visits Julio has so tamed the menace that I am symptom free most of the time.Julio is a warm and positive person who has a passion for helping people feel their best. I have already given gift certificates to my son (recovering from arm surgery) and my daughter -in law whose lifting of two toddlers has caused back stress. Once they experience Julios healing hands, they too will be regulars.

Julio has been a blessing in my life. He knew just how to approach my rehab after hip replacement. I appreciate that he listens and responds to what my body needs. Thanks to regularly scheduled massages, hes got me feeling better than I have in a long time!

UPDATE 11/10/21: Im still getting regular massages from Julio at Watts Massage and Bodywork. Massages were something I seriously missed during the pandemic. My knots got married and had baby knots. I love his new space on Guess Rd. The space is warm and friendly, and the location is easy to get to from all over Durham. ORIGINAL: Although I have been getting regular massages for years, Ive never had a regular massage therapist. I was sold after a massage with Julio. His technique--working slower rather than deeper is great for anyone who is super sensitive or has a lot of painful trigger points. I have really benefited from regular massages with Julio. Bonus: It is easy to book appointments with him.

Julio is an exceptionally talented massage therapist, his office space is lovely, and his online booking system super convenient. I have been to quite a few massage therapists in the past and usually feel like I have to choose between “relaxing” and “therapeutic.” Julio’s technique is slow and skillful such that he can do more deep work without it being painful. Each time I leave his office feeling relaxed and rejuvenated with less pain and tension, like I’m an inch or two taller and able to move with ease.

We had a discussion before the session started and he asked all the right questions and I could tell he got a very good understanding of my needs. I got the 90 minute integrative massage, it hit all the right spots in all the right ways. His studio is clean and comfortable, and we had a nice conversation to wrap things up. I have been receiving prenatal massages from Julio since about four months into my pregnancy. His skill is incredible! He is gentle and thorough, but can apply more pressure if required. I leave each massage feeling renewed and refreshed. On one occasion, when Id had a massage after getting food poisoning, he knew just where to rub to reduce the lingering discomfort from that experience.My last massage was 3/23/21, and I went in feeling stiff, sore, and swollen. I was moving much more easily by the end, and the sciatic pain Id been having, as well as the joint pain I had forgotten about due to other pain (oh, pregnancy), had been effectively addressed. He also gave me a great tip for my husband to use when rubbing my swollen legs and feet, which we both really appreciate! I intend to continue receiving massages from Julio after the baby arrives.Julio is easy to schedule with and responsive, including reminders of massages (super helpful during pregnancy - I am always forgetting things, and so the text reminders make sure I get there). His COVID policies have been fantastic - Ive always felt safe getting massages from him. He has multiple air purifiers and has drastically increased the time between patients. His sanitation policies are thorough.

I typically only go to women for massage therapy, but had a good feeling about Julio - which was right! He has a very calming nature and the office was soothing, the massage pressure was on the medium-light side, but extremely effective! I wasn’t sure how well it was working until I stood up with knots released and muscles loosened and happy. The entire experience was well worth it, and highly recommended.

Have been here twice. Julio is very very good and intuitive about how to apply pressure and maneuver joints to alleviate muscle knots and leave me feeling smoother, less bunched up and hunched over. I met Julio at my yoga studio! His deep tissue massage is the best massage Ive ever had. He has a very methodical way of working out stress and body fatigue stuck in your muscles. It is beyond professional. Simply deep down an absolutely terrific way to spend a few hours to get the best reset for your body and soul! I go every 4 weeks for best results. Certainly recommend!

I received a 90 min massage with Julio. His office has a warm and cozy energy, which was also found in him. He was very thorough in the intake process and was sure to find alignment with my needs.His hands are so warm! He had a very unique and interesting approach, which I found almost meditative. I booked a 2 hour integrative massage with Julio, and I have to admit that it was the best massage I have ever received. On top of being a retail manager and working on my feet anywhere from 8 to 10 hours at least 5 days a week, I have 2 forms of arthritis that have really progressed in the last year. The massage was relaxing, regenerative, and helped stretch and ease tight joints and muscles. He also located and was able to loosen muscles that I was unaware were right and causing more pain and alignment issues. I will absolutely be returning and recommending him to everyone I know. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would!

He works with you each time you come to make sure that any problem areas you are experiencing receive special attention.
