Massage Envy

Recently joined this location and have been members in Virginia in Minnesota in the past. This is by far the worst massage envy that I’ve experienced since I became a member.First massage therapist was 10 minutes late and my most recent massage never happened because the massage therapist was scared to touch me because I had a recent surgery on my leg. I expressed that I was cleared by my doctor because massages promote healing and just wanted an upper body massage anyway.

I have been going to Massage Envy for years (first in Virginia, now in Alaska) and have almost always had a pleasant experience. Tonight, I had a massage with Allishia. Not only did she deliver an exceptional massage, she was also polite and courteous before, during, and after my massage. She blessed me with her time, and I was very thankful to book a session with her.The 4 rating is because of Anchorages Massage Envy scheduling issues. I had multiple sessions canceled and rescheduled before finally having my session with Allishia. What made it extra challenging was that they are booked out several weeks in advance. The manager was very accommodating, however, and honored my hours. It was just challenging to successfully book an appointment with the spa. Id totally recommend Allishia to anyone interested, and I hope you have a better scheduling experience than I did.

Great experience with the local employees. Alisha is the best! Not sure why I can’t call them direct anymore and instead have “corporate” answer the phones and be the “middle man” which confuses the issue and causes a lack of communication. They are so short staffed that they can not always provide me with the services that are offered there.

Had the most awesome massage with Lily at Massage Envy in Anchorage! I asked for heavy pressure…it was Lily versus my overly tight muscles…happy to say Lily won!!AND I am on the on-call list for opening so it was a pleasant surprise that they had a cancellation (often hard to get an appointment as their calendar fills up fast)!

The receptionist and massage therapist are 5 stars all day let me start with that. The minus two stars is because I had to quit my membership because it’s so hard to book. They keep rising prices and I got tired of paying for getting a massage months out if I was lucky.I’d imagine if they made it worthwhile for the massage therapists, more people would work and more availability, but I can’t help but feel that greed is what’s causing that disconnect.How can you keep rising prices and not get your clientele taken care of? We all pay into it so you do your part and make it so we have availability.If they could make it where availability were more available I’d consider going back.

Allishia was able to get me in last minute. She was so sweet, and she did a phenomenal job. She was able to get my headache to completely go away, and it was so relaxing. She’s good!!

It is impossible to get service. I have been more than patient with staffing issues but I am scheduling 6-8 weeks in advance to have the appointment cancelled the day of or worse, showing up and being told I am not on the schedule because the therapist I was scheduled with left and no one bothered to call the clients. If I were to cancel without notice, I would be charged (per their policy). More than 75% of my appointments in the past year have been cancelled and they are not able to reschedule for another 2-6 weeks. They have been great with accommodations of putting my membership on hold and waiving the maintenance fee, adding enhancements, etc. but none of that does any good if I am not able to use the service that I have pre-paid for through my membership. I have been asking for over 3 months to just break up-- to be reimbursed for the massages I have already paid for so that I can go somewhere else that will honor their appointment. I am being told that it is not an option and that it is in the contract that they do not do reimbursements however, I have paid for a service that has not been provided.

I gave this location one star because there isnt an option for zero stars. My advice, dont be late, show up on time but at wrong location (not familiar with the Anchorage store locations). I showed up on time i. 2019 at the wrong store and then was told where my appointment was. I called while on my way and I was advised that I would be charged for the entire hour no matter how long it took to get across Anchorage. I was clearly going to be over 20 minutes behind. I offered to reschedule and she said that is fine, but I would still be charged for the entire missed appointment. I told her I would come down anyway then and she ACTIVELY tried to discourage me by declaring that prep would take too long and I would be wasting my time. I showed up and pleb my case to no avail. Got a mediocre 30 minute massage. Spoke to the franchise manager and she was not willing to make things right AT ALL. I am a loyal customer at my ho.e store, but I warn all who arent from Anchorage to beware. These stores WILL actively try to rip you off. BTW: I got a better massage two days later at one of those oriental mall places.

Zero stars. You can’t get an appointment that isn’t at least a month in advance and your therapist will cancel on you half the time. It’s impossible to cancel my contract without losing all of my hours accrued. I’ve tried a few times to call and the recording states that they’re closed when they’re supposed to stay open until 9. This place used to be really great when they had skilled massage therapists, but it’s barely even a functioning business at this point.

Was pretty upsetting. Arrived on time for my appointment , was told I was all set and waited for 40 minutes. After I waited for 40 minutes, someone told me I actually can’t get a massage because they were supposed to give me paperwork and didn’t, and since I only have 20 minutes left there’s no point. I understand that it can be tough with communication, but I left work and took my time and energy to make this appointment and come, to be told 40 minutes later I can’t get what I scheduled.

I’ll start off with the Pros. Massage Envy (I’ve been to three so far) always is clean and comfortable. Good relaxing music with water/tea/mints and friendly staff. I love the fact they have you fill out paperwork beforehand so you can get what you want out of your massage.I have always loved my massages here so this review is not a reflection of any of the massage therapist!!!What really bothers me about the company is the lack of time that you’ll get. This has happened to me at 3 different locations with 3 different massage therapists. So I know it’s not them- it’s the company policy.Today I had an appointment at 2pm for a 60 minute massage. I got here at 1:50. I went to the bathroom, filled out the paperwork and was waiting for my massage by 1:59. At 2pm my massage therapist was walking out another client, greeted me around 2:05 and the massage started at 2:11. The massage then ended at 2:58. This may sound nit-picky but that’s 13 minutes of a massage that I didn’t get and this is consistent to every visit at various locations. With it being $60 for the hour and recommended tip (from the company) being $18-$30 for an approximate total of $84... that’s $18.20 of a massage that I missed out on. They need to add in greeting/getting ready time and not cut into the massage time.

I went in three times. They rope you into a year contract with out telling you anything about. Then after 3 visits I canceled. The first gentlemen was nice and gave a good massage then the second lady was hitting on me, telling me her husband and her were having problems and how I should be a model for tattoos. The Third time the new lady just gave a bad massage. Now they are saying I couldn’t cancel and they be charging me $70 a month till I get a doctors note saying I can’t get massaged. This is all very unprofessional and I am very unhappy with the service and professional nature of this establishment. I don’t recommend this place.

I always feel better when I leave the Massage Envy office. Mimi does a great job - she gets into the deeper areas, and releases a lot of tension. 😊

They canceled my appointment less than 5 hrs from when I was supposed to show up. This appointment was booked 3 weeks in advance. The receptionist was not helpful at all. Just offered to reschedule. If I as the client were to cancel the day of I would be charged for the time booked. I asked if I would be compensated for this and was told she would have to talk to her manager and call me back. Guess who never heard from this lovely establishment. These people suck.updated 6/3/19I was sent an email to contact ME via their online portal. How is that going to help me?

The staff are very personable. Ive been a member for a few years now. I travel a lot a the price alone cannot be beat. Ive seen a few good massage therapists here and they book up early just like your favorite hairdresser does if not faster. George was my therapist today and I walked out of the room a different person than when I walked out. My stresses, aches, and pains were a distant memory. over the last 20 years of seeing over 30 massage therapists, he in the top 5. I highly recommend him and this location!

I have been having chronic issues with pain in my sciatica and my neck and my lower back. I finally broke down and decided I was going to get a massage. This is my first time at Massage Envy and definitely will not be my last. Im not 100% sure but I think my masseuse was named Chanda and she did a really good job. I just wish that it could have been longer than an hour but Beggars cant be choosers right? I also love it they have an app so you can actually go online and you can book your appointment and you can actually mark down specific areas that you want targeted instead of having to call and wait on the phone for someone to answer and then having to explain yourself to them everything is online and it is wonderful.

I feel like I went to therapy and did a 5 mile run. I think she worked the winter out of my body and now I will be ready for the the hikes this summer. Thanks Mimi!

Lily was exactly what I needed.excellent firm pressure every where but at site of strain, where she facilitated blood flow and I’m walking better today.

I would love to leave a review but alas my appointment wasn’t even on the books. Per the receptionist, “there have been a lot of appointments not booked through the app per our clients”. Seriously...why even have the ability to schedule online/through an app of it doesn’t even work. Sounds like bad business to me, and now, on a day off, in which I flew to anchorage for doctor appointments, I am not able to get a massage. I’m upset, disappointed and seriously am starting my morning off in a wrong way because of this. So much for having a stress free day.Receptionist offered a facial but I am not able to do that today due to the chemicals....and that was that. The ‘sorry, I hope you have a better day’ as I walked out the door served to piss me off more. You can tell I’m upset and hurting, please just let me leave in peace at this point.

Highly recommend! Best massage ever. Staff are management are extremely proffecional and dedicated to their work! ♡♡♡My mom got her first facial for her 60th birthday and she wants to make a routine now.Go try them out,you will not regret.

Allisha gave me a great massage that also relieved a headache I was having. She knew what points on my body to hit to relieve the majority of my pain!

Ive been going here for years. The atmosphere is soothing and staff is very friendly and helpful. I have seen my Massage Therapist, Franco, for years and he is very responsive and professional. He tailors each session to what is going on with me. Great place!!

I want to start by first off saying this review is specifically for the anchorage location on Seward hwy. my home massage envy in Knoxville TN was amazing very kind, understanding, compassionate people, who put off an energy like they had passion for what they do everyday which is facilitating customers relaxation with massage therapy and customer service to best of their ability.I just recently moved up here and the woman working the front desk has a poor unprofessional attitude and a very unhelpful stance on any concerns or basic questions I had for her. A change from the volunteer state. Very robotic feel to the exchange if a robot could take on the “catch me outside” attitude or embody lil tay.It has been 2 months here and the hours of operation don’t match what is posted online. In addition when you try to find out through a phone call they also have neglected to post them there so I’m calling on a Monday at 3 o’clock pm when every other business under the sun is open. It’s frustrating for customers simply trying to schedule an appt. which is why I highlighted communication and unprofessional as the root concern of this review. I continue my business with massage envy because I know this is an individual or regional group lacking in the skills necessary to provide the service and not the whole of massage envy’s employees.

My husband set an appointment here for me for our anniversary, so we drove down from the valley and it turned out that there was no appointment noted.We were told that the manager would call us the following morning and arrange a reschedule, no charge. We received no call for the next two days, so eventually my husband called back and, after speaking with the manager, rescheduled for the following Saturday.I am here today, dealt with the sidelong glances and subtle attitudes from the 2 front desk girls (maybe the comped massage was noted so they figured I was trouble? Idk). It is already over 20 minutes past my appointment time, and I havent even left the Tranquility room. Went out to inquire and was cut off youll get youre full time, dont worry about that. My concern was more my schedule for the day, but ok. Thanks.Did go the bathroom. Very industrial/commercial, no effort there but maybe Im just being negative. This place is nothing like Tikatnu Commons, I def recommend making the drive there even if its farther for you. No level of awesome massage will un-stress me from dealing with this branch thusfar.

Theyll let you sign up for a membership but there are almost no appointments available. To make it worse even if you do get an appointment they will cancel after you are already there.

Ive been coming here consistently for a year now and i couldnt ask for a better experience. The front desk staff is always pleasant and I couldnt ask for better quality therapists. They have helped me improve my wellness in more ways than one! I definitely recommend checking this place out!

Christyanne is a wonderful therapist! She was able to relieve my sore back and calf muscles with ease. I recommend a 90 minute massage. Ask about their other services and membership!

Some of the therapists apparently don’t like when a client asks for a different technique that the one they are using. If they are professionally trained they should know a variety of techniques and should accommodate the needs of the client.

Dorian was great, very professional. Adjusted pressure as needed. Check in was easy.

The front desk staff @ the South location was very pleasant and friendly. The massage therapist was amazing I will definitely return.

This place is being run by incompetent owners who dont care about there staff or their customers. Didnt used to be that way. I am willing to bet under this management the establishment will be closing for good soon.

I got both a facial and a massage both were great. I wish,however, that it wasnt so expensive to get personal care like this.

A variety of skilled therapists...for a variety of massages. For me it eases the back pain. One monthly fee with transferable services. Treat yourself!
