Called about an item in stock. They were out but directed me in a way so that I could go and find a replacement elsewhere. Talk about great service. I’ve had years of experience going here but when you can call someone and they are willing to help you over the phone that really goes a long way. Thanks yall!

One of my favorite smoke shops. The people are always helpful and friendly.

The staff here is very rude & unattentive Their return policy is ridiculous. It doesnt matter what the situation is , there are absolutely no returns, exchanges, refunds, or otherwise. So even if what you purchase doesnt work directly after purchase, the answer is NO. So in short they stand behind nothing they sell in their shop. There are so many good smoke shops in Gainesville that have super friendly employees & NORMAL return policies that no one should ever need to bother dealing with the negativity in this place. I recommend Green Leaf or any other smoke shop for that matter. If the owner reads this review, Id like to make a suggestion . I know your shop has been here for many years & you must be doing ok simply due to this fact, but just think about how much better youd be doing if you just up your game a little. I by no means feel you need to kiss anyones rear but a little nice goes a long way. I mean would it hurt to greet people when they enter , maybe ask if there is something you can help them with & actually answer the questions they have (not refer to Google). Your clients should not feel like an inconvenience when they come in. For every one person you lose, you lose at least 10 more. I dont personally like to see people fail, so maybe take a little constructive criticism & do something other than scoff (I can hear you scoffing) at it.

People here are always nice. But Ive gone every single week this summer for a specific product that Ive been buying here in bulk every 3 or 4 months for 10 years. Hmmm. Why arent you getting enough anymore? You know I keep coming back!

All the employees here are like my best friends! Always greet me with a smile, prompt service and ALWAYS remember what I order. Id give em 100 stars if i could. Love these guys too the moon and back!

One of my favorite stores. They have everything you need and the staff is always so helpful. Never have we had bad customer service, onetime too much was said so they couldnt help us. We came back the next day and had no problems. Its all about what you say and how you say it. They have a business/company to protect and as a business owner myself, I understand that. These guys are great. From the owners to the employees, they know what they are talking about, so take note and listen you might learn a few things.

I want to give a huge shout out to Jimmy & John for their amazing help and customer service! They took their time to talk and explain the product I was going to purchase and they truly do care about their job! Such amazing fine people! Everytime I come here Im completely ignored like I dont exist. Ive even said, hey hows it going to several employees and they walk by me like Im not even there. I thought maybe they were just busy with some other customer so I hung out for about 10 minutes looking at inventory and both employees walked right past me again without asking if they could help me. Not a what brings you in today, nothing! They seem to have no problem talking with any other customer and I have done nothing rude not am I some homeless person. They will never get my business again very rude careless people working here.

Excellent customer service from a new employee who had only been working there a couple of weeks or days. Very informative. The store has TONS of great stuff. A bit on the smelly side though they need air fresher or to burn incense

The staff is Not helpful, and seem unknowable about products or how to assist customers. they are as unwelcoming as a plague. I couldnt have left fast enough. the first time I went in for a product they couldnt stop laughing at me like a bunch of children so I left and purchased elsewhere. the second time I went in to get an anniversary gift for my boyfriend, I asked a question and the guy stood there in silence. I asked again in another way thinking maybe he didnt know it was a question once more silence, so I turned and walked out again and purchase at another establishment. I gave it two (2) stars because it is a local establishment, I think it could be great if they got some hard core training on how to behave and conduct themselves as knowledgable staff. I also notice its all men working here and I dont think it would hurt to get some professional training on how to treat/assist women customers and staff members. Women dont want to be laughed at or treated like garbage or like we dont know anything, we can take our business elsewhere I feel like with proper training this business would see way more profit and that means more money for them and the employees and the community as well.

If i could give this store rating 0 stars i would, i tried to return a terrible product at which I didnt even expect a cash refund. The employees attitude was snarky and rude. I will not even mention the price gouging markups listed in their store for a variety of products that can be bought for cheaper in ANY other head shop in Gainesville. Basically if you would like to be treated professionally and actually get decent prices look elsewhere.

Great selection of cigars. Pat runs the place and you can tell. Its a great shop for all. I get my cigars there every other day or so. Prices are descent, the staff is chill and its a clean place. What more could you ask for?

While the selection of products are abundant, and the staff is helpful for the most part. They dont do well in taking care of the customers. Bought an item, realized it didnt fit, minutes later I attempted to get a refund but found out that they dont offer refunds, exchanges or credits. Even minutes out the door. Basically know what you want to buy and make sure its the right thing. Just a reminder of why I make the venture to across town for High Tides.

BUYERS BEWARE!!!Just want to leave this here. Many years in customer service I know how good customer service works. This place has zero of the that. Experience: Yesterday I went to the downtown location and dealt first hand with a man who said he was the owner and deals with buying all the merch. His vibe was the I dont care if you shop here or not, Im going to help you the least possible I was searching for a Nectar collector, I drove all the way from Bronson to downtown Gainesville to purchase one. I wanted one with a water filter, they said they had a couple. I got to the shop and the product was definitely not what I was looking for but I decided to give it a try. The whole experience was off putting down to the check out where the owner passed me on to the cashier. The owner wrapped my glass peice in a single paper bag with no protection. I kindly asked for bubble wrap because I was driving far the cashier acted like yeah thats the boss for ya I purchased and left. Hours later I try the piece out and what do you know it doesnt even hold water from dripping down the tip and after the first use the tip became loose and had no seal. So today I wanted to let them know about the product being faulty and not as advertised. No one at all three stores could help me nor did they want to. They told me he will b in on Monday you have to deal with him downtown. Called all three stores no one could help or tell me how to get in touch with him. So let me get this straight, 3 stores and not one of them has a manager that can handle these problems? One guy told me thats the boss for ya when I mentioned it was funny the only person who can help doesnt seem to o be available. Then went on to tell me he is retired. Well great hire someone to do customer service, train your staff, and rid of the its not my problem attitude that seems to be popular among the employees. Every piece I have purchased in the past 3 years came from modern age. No more, I will not be returning unless this gets resolved.

Prices are way too high, the products & prices across the street at 101 Smoke Shop are way better. Friendly & good variety, but 101 got them beat when it comes to the more important factors of buying things in a place like dis. :)

Best smoke shop in Gainesville. The amount of glass at this place is surreal, and you’re bound to find something to fit your needs at a great price. They both import and American glass. The owners are really nice people and they have an enormous selection of tobaccos, papers, and cigars. Every piece of gear imaginable is sold here. I think this might be the best smoke shop I’ve ever been to. Nothing ever matched the experience of walking through those doors.

I always receive good service, but today will be the last time I visit until after the covid-19 pandemic. I felt extremely uncomfortable that an employee got within 6 ft of me without covering their nose with a mask. Masks dont work if they are not covering both nose and mouth. Really sad that one of my favorite locally owned businesses are not working to prevent the spread of covid-19.

The prices sting a little, but if youre ever in there, ask for Jennifer. She is the happiest, most charming and helpful staff member there. Super bubbly and will take the time to help you peruse the items they have there.

UPDATEModern Age has expanded immensely. they now have a walk in humidor and a tasteful selection of tobacco and glasswork. it also looks like they have new, friendly and helpful employees. I had a pleasant experience today.As many have said, terrible customer service. Feels like youre inconveniencing the employees by being in their store. Some times I have no other choice to go here, but I typically make the extra trip elsewhere

Cool shop with old school heady glass. They dont seem to get new glass drops too often but if you like older heavies from around 2013-2016 Id say its definitely worth checking out

Love the selection of products. Very wide variety of basically anything you want. The staff is very unhelpful, and sometimes raise prices to make a quick buck. The mark up is horrible as well, youll feel like youve been robbed after buying from this place. The staff is knowledgable, but most of them are rude and unwilling to help.

This is a great shop. Do not understand the negative reviews. I mainly buy vaping products and the staff has been very helpful to me. There is so much to choose from as well with really great hours. If a vaporizer breaks down, that is not the fault of the shop, as those can easily break no matter where you buy them. One just has to be extra vigilant. The staff does answer questions honestly when you ask them. I found the oils to be better priced than other shops. I do not buy anything else so cannot judge the rest of the shop, only the electronic cigs and vaping.

I bought 4 cartons of cigarettes here today. The place seems to have some problem with advertising. They say that they have curbside pickup. They do not. They say that masks are required. I counted 5 people behind the counter, and not one had a mask. When I asked about these things, they became defensive and spoke about liberals, but I am more conservative than they are. But there are some conservatives like me who still respect accuracy. The mark of a conservative is that they respect accuracy.

Well I hate to echo so many other reviews on this place but the customer service sucks. But in order to check out the product I was willing to overlook that. I figured we are all entitled to have a bad day. So I ended up buying some e juice from a associate that seemed uninterested in if I bought anything or not. When I got home to try the stuff out, no flavor at all. I wish I would have read some of these reviews and saved my self six bucks and some gas. Now Im thinking I may just throw the e juice I bought out after reading that someone may have gotten sick from some of their other products. Again, Bad Business, Bad Products, Avoid At All Cost!!

They have a really nice collection of glass. Theres two other pipe shops on the street but as far as selection and price go, this one wins hands down. If youre looking for a piece, this place has it going on.

Out of all local tobacco shops this is the best option for variety, there’s a reason they have been a staple name in Gainesville for over 30+ years. There is a notable up charge on products but that’s standard. The staff are relaxed and professional.

In the past I wouldve given modern age 5 out of 5 but what theyve done to me is just unacceptable. I bought a piece, used it twice, and then picked it up by the stem and the stem just detached from the base. The stem was a darker color than the base and it cleanly broke off where the clear and darker glass met. If I dropped it and the stem broke off, Id have no problem but I should be able to pick up a piece of glass that I bought a day ago without it snapping. I called and spoke with Pat and he told me that it was cheap Chinese glass and it was sold as is so its my fault. I let him know that I had previously bought at least 5 pieces of glass from there and he sarcastically let me know that he appreciated my business and started to be a jerk. I told him that I was a local guide on Google and he said well then Im sure youll write us a real nice review (also sarcastic) Its insane to me that a business would be this rude and disrespectful to a customer who has spent so much money there. If you buy something from there just know they dont care about you and are not interested in keeping their top customers happy... Ill be spending my money at smoke city in the future and I suggest you avoid modern age like the plague that it is.

If I could give a lower rating I would. This is the rudest and most unhelpful group of losers I have ever encountered. Dont ask them any questions about their vape products because they are too busy stuffing their fat faces to be bothered helping customers. I guess its a hangout and not a place of business.

Decent, clean place. Came in to get a few cigars. And endured a firm ass chewing for making a joke alluding to my buddy using a grinder for something other than tobacco. Guy was cool before that. Other than that little confrontation, good service and product selection.

High prices!!! Bought a glass piece from them and it broke in the first week I owned it after accidentally dropping it on a couch cushion. They dont make the glass, but it leaves a bad taste in your mouth for that to happen!

Its certainly useful for vape accessories and has a good location but if youre looking for e-juice its a gamble. not only is there not a binder listing their inventory and flavors but staff isnt even able to describe it either. at $30 a pop i would like to know what euphoria tastes like. their glass selection looks great but isnt a need of mine. suggestion? provide more info about vape juice and have a small sampler variety. smoke city has a great selection of sizes, prices, and a book with a description of EVERY flavor. if modern age adopted this id give them 5 stars. they mean well but need to market liquids better than what looks like a limited case of cheap perfume bottles.

Very limited stock on juices for no salt vapor devices. New Leaf Vapor has so much more. I was only looking here hoping for a place closer to my home.

Very cool painting on the building inside and out. Inside you can find tons of different items from Rolling paper, ecigs, pipes, hookahs,CBD Oil, incense, and a whole plethora of other related materials/products. The selection there was outstanding, the customer service however left very much to be desired, probably because there really wasnt any! There were 3 people behind the counter who all were just hanging out and pretty much ignored me for about 15 minutes. At which point my fiance had to go down to where they were hanging out and ask if one of them could come help me. Then when the guy did come he really wasnt much help at all any way. He sold me a Mini Vape for $20 that he swore could use the $40 CBD oil that I was buying. And what ended up happening was I spent $20 on a piece of junk that cant even handle the thinnest of vape oils let alone the $40 CBD oil I purchased! So essentially it was a wasted total of $60+tx and my time.

Horrible service. Staff told me Im stupid for asking about a certain kind of pipe and told me to leave because they didnt wanna get in trouble. Well the dumbazz that was selling it was the one who used the name of the substance. Then he got scared because his dumazz self-incriminated himself and blamed it on me and told me to get out. The two guys that work there, the one with the short hair and goatee are horrible and rude as hell. Do yourself a favor and pick any other store except this. Also from what I heard it will be the hardest to get a refund for anything you buy from them, save yourself time energy mentaly well being and money. Dont go to this trashy place.

I can not tell you why others have voted this place down. I go in weekly to purchase my pipe tobacco and occasionally a new pipe. The young and older man behind the counter and the lady they have working there are always courtis, professional, and friendly to boot. They have a excellent choice in cigars, pipe tobacco, pipes, and the occasional cigarettes I buy when a pipe is not suited. Even my wife, who hates my habit, but loves the smell of the pipe, says they are always nice to her, and she isnt always in the best of moods if I ask her to stop buy for me if I am too busy.They have posted on the sign outside on the door some things you can not say/do, I do advise you follow those rules. Unfortunately they can not serve you if you dont.

Its a good smoke shop, with a lot of products. The problem is that everything I ever got from here has broke really easily. They also dont know much about thirty vaping products.

Used to come here with mom for her smokes, lucky she doesnt do that any more but i still find an amazing selection with friendly service. Great for the oddball gift and all you smoking needs.

Hands down the best shop in Gainesville! Ive lived in Gainesville 15yrs and have watched shops open then close. Moderage has held there ground for to long and will always be my go to for all my tobacco needs.

It has any kind of smoking tool you could ever think of. Its location is hidden, its in the back and hidden, but the store speaks for itself. They do not offer any food, so do not go there with the munchies, However, be prepared to get them after you have bought what you need at this smoke shop🤒
