Everyone here is in a great mood and just looking to enjoy the night and cheer each other on in Karaoke.They only take cash here, so be prepared or you’ll be running to the ATM and the Quik Trip next door.A great place to visit!

We went here for my friends bachelor/bachelorette party and we had a blast! The DJ was very kind and helped us have fun! Bar staff was very helpful right from the moment and didnt seem annoyed to have a big group come in off a party bus. We had so much fun singing and theres so much space to dance! Reasonably priced too and no cover charge.

Fun times.. but(!) Its what *you* bring to it! 7 day a week karaoke bar with a dive bar feel. Last night (Saturday) was my 2nd time going, great date night for us, 1st time was a Sunday and was a more intimate crowd for my best friends birthday. We extroverted all over the bar staff but they love good, fun, people. This bar staff DESERVES your tips. Remember to TIP THE KARAOKE DJ too!!

Growing up, my mother would bring me with to sing karaoke. At first glance, it looks like a hole-in-the-wall joint, but it is also a place where many friendships and relationships are forged. Roxie is an amazing person and has all of her customers’ best interests at heart. It may not be a glamorous bar to some, but I guarantee you will not find more friendly and humble bartenders and regulars. Drink prices are comparable to other bars and the atmosphere may seem like “no-frills”, but that’s because the feel is very honky-tonk, as it rightly should be. If you’re looking for a no-nonsense, friendly, down-home type of place, the Red Balloon has all of that to offer and more.

Went with a group, we just randomly picked a place, some had seen or heard about it, staff prompt yes, but not friendly, very odd encounters took place, after placing our drink and apps orders.1. Asking for identification after 4 alcoholic beverages were brought to the table. THEN2. Informing us After food was eaten and drinks down...they were cash only... and pointed to an ATM if we needed cash.3. Then came over told us our total (thus far) 2 different times... and then basically asking if we would pay.. before we were even done, when asked are you closing the waitress said no, so we paid, and felt it was a sign to leave. We had not even done karaoke...I would not recommend this bar and truly feel that I left confused and concerned about either welfare of others (joking) or not.

This used to be my go to spot with karaoke every night AND cheap beer. Until I started paying attention. I started seeing gnats. Flying around, resetting I the rim of glasses. Then I started paying attention to the place I general. The pictures adequately represent the place but notice the pics are taken during the day time. This place during busy business hours is dank and dark. Cant really tell what is clean.Yes the drinks are cheap, yes the staff is nice enough. Even nicer if they know you our if you are an employee just hanging out.Last time i was there i was sitting at the bar talking and some random grabbed my calfs, spread my legs, and placed himself between my thighs. All I could think to do was to hold on to the seat of the bar stool to keep myself from falling. The bartender did nothing. When he let me go I just left. Havent been back..wont ever go back

Sketchy... Very sketchy.After serving our group 2 alcoholic drinks they then asked for our IDs and to pay our tab (were all nearing 40).Went there for the small quiet bar feel to talk amongst our group, but the waitress and regulars were obviously trying to push us out.We werent planning to leave by 10pm, but took the hint and did so.How they keep in business treating new customers so poorly is beyond me.Will not return, was hopeful for a low-key place to chill with friends... Their loss.

I’ve never been to a bar where the workers/“bartenders” smoke behind the bar, seem so out of it and overall act so trashy (dancing on the dirty floor, and then proceeding to make drinks for people). Was there with a group. Got there and immediately put in a request to sing a song for karaoke. 2 hours later, still no name called. Absurd, for the fact being it seems the “regulars” and/or friends of the staff were up next 3 or 4 times in that time span.. Sketchy place on the outside; more sketchy on the inside. Highly dissatisfied, and will not be going anywhere near again!

For a local bar its great for the people who frequent it. I have been there once many years ago for a Halloween type deal. Was packed and we didnt stay long. Its a place to watch the games for sure. I come to one of the other businesses once a week and always a few cars in day and busy at night. It has its ups and downs...its a bar. If its not your place, its not your place. Dont dis what your not used to. Upscale fake bars arent always the best either.

I dont know why this place is getting such bad reviews. Everyone of the regulars are like my family. Tom gives the best hugs and comfort when you are sad. Spice never judges and plays amazing music (dont forget shes gorgeous!) Joe is hilarious and is always good for a laugh. And all the other bartenders make the best drinks. Anytime someone asks for a new place to hang out I always suggest The Red Balloon. I love it here. ❤

This place is great! Its my usual go to bar. If you come in to this bar with a chip on your shoulder, youre not gonna have a good time. Be kind, be patient and relax. If its your first time, ask a regular some questions. They will be kind and inviting. I will always come back to this bar.

The bar and waiting staff are great, the prices for drinks are excellent and the food is pretty darn good. The best part is kareoke every night, tip the kj and they usually move you as forward as they can. Pool is only 75 instead of a dollar. Free darts on Tuesday and Thursday, great dive bar.

Very laid back Lgbt friendly. This is the first place I came out, and EVERYONE was accepting. The people at the bar, and the people who worked there. They always take care of me. I’m 22 so I don’t know much about alcohol, and they always make me something I like, and show me what they’re putting in there. They will even watch my drinks when I go outside.

Once was enough. I will admit, this place is not my scene, but man the standards here are very low. The bar is very dirty and all of the chairs are walmart grade plastic fold up chairs. The staff was offputting, pressuring us to buy shots every fifteen minutes although we had declined them. The karaoke system is very old and sounds quite bad. I ordered a vodka soda and what I got was a small cup, mainly full of ice and soda, hardly any liqour. We were also not alerted it was a cash only establishment until we had all put orders in.Positives are hard to come by here. The karaoke dj was good at what he did, and the beer is certainly cheap. My friend also mentioned that the bathrooms were much cleaner than the last time he had visited.

This place is most certainly a dive Karaoke bar, but it is a GREAT one! The employees working the kitchen are always happy to tailor my food for me, the bartenders are a blast, the KJ is fun, and who doesnt enjoy a few pool tables? I would highly suggest this place and if you get a girly drink, I would suggest Toriis Bare @$$.

We went on Halloween. Evidently since we werent regulars we were never called up for karaoke, which is the whole reason you go the Red Balloon. The wait staff was nice and friendly, but they seemed understaffed as there only appeared to be 2 people to take drink orders for the whole bar. We were really disappointed and left early.

First visit, came for karaoke. Put in my request, then was told if you tip the DJ they can move your song up. The truth actually was after ordering (food and waiting for two hours to sing)... finding that the only way I would sing is if I tipped. Bad Business!!! It shouldnt be called tipping when in actuality its a fee. I get if thats how you get paid... but then be honest. After the nonchalant attitude and being lied to about my turn. I will never be back 😞😤

Slimy owner- Roxy needs to come back to reality. Maybe get some new glasses, your bar is a dump and you ain’t no prize either. Bad service. Staff definitely drinks on the job!!!!

If you are not a regular then forget about ever singing karaoke. I waited over two hours to sing and the regulars sang 3+ songs. Spice is a terrible DJ.And as you can see from the many other reviews, that this is nothing new. Also you can see by the “owner” response, he could care less about your experience at this place! What a joke!

Dive bar plus everyday Karaoke! Went there for the first time a few Fridays ago. Not crowded. Staff was friendly and prompt. Got to sing more that night than any other karaoke bar Ive visited recently.

We paid for lots of drinks. Made several requests to play Karaoke, continuously was skipped to let the same people play over and over again. Last karaoke song is playing now, still havent been called. People that got here after us sang. Not us. Bummed, wont be returning.

I was the dd for our group last night. I got an iced tea to drink, It had mold in it!! This place is disgusting! When the lady came out of the cooler with the tea pitcher, it had aluminum foil on it. What place saves a small pitcher of iced tea like that?! Some one should shut that place down.

Absolute waste of time. White trash haven in Overland an absolute waste of time. Dont go if you want to sing karaoke. You wont get on the list with these clueless KJs. We had a group that waited over four hours and only one person got a mic, when all sorts of apparent regulars sang often -- and horribly -- even after other requests from our group had been in for hours. Ridiculous.

I never get sick but a night after a couple cheap beers here I ended up with Strep Throat. I thought I was just hungover so I didnt go to the doctor until the 2nd day of waking up in such pain. Also not a lot of beer to choose from.

Great place. Awesome bar tender and people. Very happy and welcoming. Must visit. Dont expect anything high class, it is just a good bar next door.

Fun karaoke spot with nice staff. Wish I would have known it was cash only on advance though, and a pretty limited bar.

It is a great hole in the wall. Nothing fancy but great service and wonderful employees. If you like karaoke you found your home.

This is my favorite place in Kansas City. Karaoke 7 nights a week and they have great drink specials. Its always so much fun!

Came here for Karaoke, left before we even got on the stage. Got yelled at and insulted by a regular who was singing because she was drunk and trying to start something. Cash only, poor beer selection. Wont return.

Bartender hated every second of their shift. Extremely unpleasant experience. Don’t waste your time, there is a reason they’re empty.

Karaoke bar. It is the type of bar I really like, except it seemed a little pricy for a hole in the wall type place. $12 for a pitcher of beer is a little much to me.

This place is a five star dive bar, they dont accept credit cards though and their ATM fee is wicked expensive so bring cash.
