Dustin Sims and the group with him where hilarious! One of the best comedy shows Ive ever heard... how ever this review is for the High Dive and they suck!!! Be prepared to sweat, I dont think they have ac... its Florida crank that ac up! Seats are small fold up chairs so you wont be comfortable either.
Cute venue but they made me pay 2.50 for a water cup just to take my meds 😭😭 they charge extra if you dont put more on your tab. not really encouraging ppl who are trying to stay sober.
Had a blast going with my 18 year old daughter to see Jay Allen. My daughter loved the starter group and wants to see him over and over agion. The atmosphere was nice. The staff was friendly and the show was great.
I just went to the show that had the head line PowerGlove with Immortal Guardian as a build-up. Honestly I have to say that out of the three bands that played I have a hard time picking a favorite because the entire show rocked the house. PowerGlove brought the house down and immortal guardian was epic as ever. I can’t believe that Gabriel Guardian can play the guitar, play the keyboard, and sing at the same time!!! I have to give a mad shout out to the opening band “Sworn to Decay”! The crowd didn’t even know how to respond when their black metal influence hit the floor. The crowd was prepared for a some melodic metal and got slapped in the face from the start! I can’t wait to see all these bands again. I’m a local and will be looking for more shows featuring all these bands in the future. Especially my boys from “Sworn to Decay”.
Love this venue! Went there for the second time last night for the Rocky Horror Picture Show and it was amazing! Good vibes all around and everyone seems to be having a good time! Very high energy! Wish there were more parking spots, we had to leave a bit early due to our parking meter.
Fantastic little place.Cozy, reasonable prices for drinks. The beer garden is the perfect place to meet up with friends, relax, and have a beer.Staff was friendly and helpful. The facilities was clean and will keptWhen the band starts playing there isnt a bad place in the house. Will absolutely visit again.
Went to The Rocky horror picture show and it was great!! We have been to this venue many times, its not the huge spot but definitely big enough for everyone to hang out and have a great time. They also have a really nice Bar & biergarten area outside 🌞
This bar is a fantastic local hub for music and performances. It always has a stacked venue and the actual location is nicely located just outside of downtown. With very reasonable ticket prices and a good selection of craft brews this is a wonderful place to visit if youre looking for a quick drink or a nice night.
Great experience seeing Honey Revenge, Pollyanna, Colorblind, and Wreckless Giants. Wonderful concert for a good price. The drinks were solid with good prices for a bar. Would definitely recommend this little hole in the wall if youre in Gainesville. My ONLY complaint is the parking. Maybe its just because of how popular Honey Revenge is getting, but I would love more options to park at around this location, which I know is not High Dives fault. The parking lot isnt great, but Im sure thats enough space for their usual amount of traffic. The bartenders were very pleasant. Good experience.
Great show at High Dive - a combo drag & burlesque fundraiser for Equality Florida. Fun show, great performances, exciting raffle, and atmosphere was great in this push back against the Gov DeSantis effort to harm people for political benefit & because he just doesnt like them.
Always have great bands and entertainment! Of youre in to indie music or unique performances, keep checking this venue. Its kinda hot sometimes though
Had such a great time here! It would be five stars but it seemed like the bartenders were pushing me to buy alcohol rather than water (which I get they want to make money, but I already had a 40$ bar tab and had to drive home) I wish there were places for water coolers so you can fill your own water, I think it would cut down on the lines at the bar after they got their initial water cup. Will come back, probably with a camel pack cause bbbyyyy it’s HOT in there but WORTH ITTTT! ❤️
Great concert, no fighting or shoving, great bartenders and drink prices. Close to the parking garage which is well lit and has officers present so its safe. I was able to see the whole time even in the back of the room even at only 5 foot 1!
Good sound at the venue. Not enough seating and the drink prices are kinda high though. Recommend it overall.
High Dive? More like low dive. It was a very blah experience with basic level environment and only 1 server inside for the whole venue. And the server was disrespectful and ignored us so that we had to literally demand that she cash us out because she would not give us our check.Edited to add in response to High Dive: I am directly addressing the woman who also was not allowing the male person to serve so no there were not 2 full bartenders inside the building. I was there the whole time and I know what I saw. He would ask for orders but then told my husband he couldnt serve liquor.I watched her go back and forth while my husband was standing there waiting patiently for his turn. I watched multiple people who came after him get served and cash out. She even served a beer right next to his friend and my husband put his card up showing he wanted to pay and she just walked off. When I said 20 minutes I meant 20 minutes and in no way did she adhere to some type of line. So thats not correct.
Honestly hate this venue. Ive been 3 times and it was for very different sorts of events over the years, so I kept thinking it would be different. Most recently I went for Ben Brainard. They must have oversold the venue. There wasnt anywhere to sit or barely stand. I felt like a sardine that was always in the way of people trying to get beer - the only place to stand was near the bar. We had gotten there 30 minutes early and stood in line the entire time, and when we got inside, the venue was ALREADY packed. I dont know what we could have done differently, as the line I was in didnt move, and there didnt seem to be a separate line for pre-purchase tickets (we had bought the tickets 2 months in advance). We are still in a pandemic, and my partner and myself and maybe 2 additional people were the only ones wearing masks. I felt very unsafe and contemplated leaving multiple times. I convinced myself to stay, and watched the show as several audience members seemed to continuously interrupt the show, I couldnt tell if they were drunk or what, but it seemed so rude. The venue probably has no control over the attendees, but combine that with a packed venue, a pandemic that is not quite over, and people trying to carry their beers past you without spilling them on you... It was a very unpleasant experience. I dont think I will try to attend this venue in the future.
We saw a shadow cast of Rocky Horror Picture Show with Glory Days & Frankie and the Pretenders. Easily one of the best that Ive been to. The venue was great and a a hole in the wall atmosphere which was awesome.
Great overall sound and atmosphere. Have seen lots of great shows booked here. Bar always seems to serve in a timely manner even with large crowds. Could use a dedicated sound engineer on the board and drinks are a little expensive. All in all, highly recommend checking out a show here.
Hoping only for the best for this place!!! Lots of good people ! There are posters of performers , promising line ups of talents to a hungry stage to showcase. The live bands lyrics dictate the vibe , emotions of melody and spice every bite of the delectable variety of our foods from best food truck collaborations!!!
Just go on a random night and be open. This place will not let you down. Great sound and staff. Also, a tall boy is a must in this establishment.
Always good to see live music in Gainesville. Bar is decent and staff is on par. Promoter is a pile of $h!t and rude to customers. If there was another option, this place would be closed.
I had an awesome time With my friends the bands were pretty good The live music was awesome got to hang out and talk to all my bodies Got something to eat at Eddies patties Awesome Pattys man to keep up a good work.. Overall it was a good night filled with no regrets..
Good sized venue. Lots of nice views of the stage. Indoor and outdoor bars. Overall a great place to see a band, but be prepared to sweat endlessly if you go in the summer. No fans. Seemingly no AC. Absolutely no air flow. Its incredibly hot. Impressively sweltering. Its not surprising to be hot if the summer in Florida in a crowded venue, but this is another level.
From Epic Rap Battles of History to Ying Yang Twins. Cabaret, comedians and even a freak show, oh my!This venue offers an eclectic lineup of entertainment I’ve been enjoying for years.Spacious outdoor area includes a bar area and plenty of additional seating away from it too.
I liked the large stage for live music but its not anything special. Concrete floors for easy clean up and seating along the walls for wall flowers. The outside area is much nicer. As I said, nothing special that sets it apart from any other bar with live music.
Loved it. Small venue so it was great seeing The Lacs, and Friends. Not much seating which is a bummer. My wife really needed a seat. No VIP section for any seating either. Paid extra for nothing but loved the show and would return for shows that Im interested in seeing. Parking garage for a small few behind the small parking lot they have.
Excellent bar staff, spacious venue, & very clean! The parking lot was full but we found street parking very close by.
Usually a fave spot to go see some great bands. With covid running rampant though... Was pleasantly surprised to be told they are requiring masks inside.. then really disappointed to see it was not being enforced.Headliner band was great, though. And staff is always nice.Edit to Respond: THANK YOU for taking the time to read my review ❤️I was in the midst of a cluster of young, drunk college girls who not only werent wearing masks, but kept trying to hold my hands to dance. This is the situation that not only made me leave the venue.. but write the review to let others know the climate. I dont want any of the staff getting accosted at ALL.. and appreciate the signage and attempts to keep things safe. But if people are breaking your rules.. its ok to ask them to comply or leave. ❤️
Had a great time seeing Free Falling an exceptional Tom Petty cover band on Sunday night!!! Left my prescription reading glasses at the show. Emailed High Dive the next day and they responded in just a few minutes, that they had them! Also saw a Dead cover band there a few months ago. Awesome cool spot!!!
Great venue and all the people were awesome. The house sounds and lights were clean and well done.Griffin Williams (@griffinwmusic) and his trio put on an incredible show!
Had an awesome times at the Wavves show this weekend. The staff at HD were so friendly, good prices on drinks and tickets, and the sound quality was spot on. We will definitely be back for another show soon!
Good size venue for some gigs. Good quality sound too.
Very intimate venue, you can get within inches of the bands. Friendly staff and reasonable drink prices. Why do I watch this year only problem I found was expecting a band to be as popular as it was 20 years ago LOL . At least I got out of the apartment
Casual spot to listen to music and have a beer. No food is offered here, but you can bring food in. We went to a blues fest which was a real deal - $10 for 5 groups! Only one negative - the volume was very loud.
Loved It!My son Countrytrell performed there last night and we had a blast. Also the lady bartender was very friendly.
A great DIVE for live music!!! Eclectic crowd - from hippies - college students - preps - and old folks living life.
Live music, friendly staff, and a great bar. Always something going on here on the weekends. I especially enjoy when they have food truck rallys. Ive gone to several concerts at this location (Manic Focus, Japanese Breakfast, and a few others). Ive always felt safe and had a great time.
Last night’s Perpetual Groove show was best dance concert in history of this universe. Cutting edge arrangements like never heard before. Perfectly crafted and presented. The hero’s journey guided in the ever-evolving grooves. And perfect was good enough. From the first epiphany through the generous encore hour(s) plus later. Incredibly compelling; but true.
Cozy music venue. Great treatment from the staff before & after arriving. We have fun every visit. Only improvement, so far, is the need for handicapped ♿ parking near venue. Parking blocks away is so inappropriate for a 100% disabled veteran and spouse whos chronic pain makes going out near impossible already.
Went to hear live music. Very open place, dance floor, nice stage, stadium-like seating to watch bands also and outside area where you can smoke or just to get fresh air. Outside they had torch heaters; Not like you need them often in Florida lol. They offer more than 1 bar which is nice. They have decent prices for the bands and lots of bands play here.
Great show with Geoff Tate but my BFF and i waited out in the cold ti meet the rest if thr band there were only 3 of us all together but to our disappointment when the guitar player saw us he did an about face and walked away. It would not have hurt him to spend a few min get a photo and shaking hands. The musicians now days forget about the fans. And it broke our hearts
Great venue! Service was awesome. They just need more airflow when its packed.
We went to see a show by a very talented solo guitarist. This is not a hard rock show, this is a man who can make a guitar play the most amazing range of sounds. The sound crew at High Dive was awful. All three performing acts had feedback issues, mic issues, balance issues. Maybe these issues arent as noticeable for loud bands that dont have the intricate composition of Andy McKees songs, but it was incredibly frustrating that they continued to have issues that they werent able to correct by the end of the hours long show.
Had a blast. I saw one of my favorite bands hereSeated is limited. Thats the only thing negative
I like High Dive as a venue, its a nice space to watch a show, and the outdoor bar/seating is lovely on a nice night. Their drinks are pricey and the parking situation is terrible, I always end up parking in the parking garage, because even when I get there early theres no free spots I can find. Staff is friendly enough.
I tried to get tickets for SCOTS show January 13 and said I need negative Covid test and must wear mask? WTH? Is this High Dive policy or SCOTS? Would love to see show but not going to tolerate a load of nonsense.
This place has been around for ever just has changed names a few times over the past 30 years. The High dive has a great variety of acts and weve always had a wonderful time. Good prices on booze and beer.
I just went Saturday night and watched Pupil, Red Hallway, and Purely Red play. What a great time and the High Dive took the coronavirus seriously. Temp checks at front and masks required inside. The music was awesome as always!
Great acoustics for a small/medium-small music venue. Fresh flow of local Gainesville brews with a few custom cocktails at the bar. Cute and quirky beer garden outside. Overall just a really fun place to see concerts from local (Flipturn) to international (The Struts) bands!
Small venue thats pretty hip. Sound wasnt melt your ears loud but still sounded good. Downsides: the a/c felt like it was barely even on. No air movement at all so in the summer its torture being in there. Would recommend they at least put some fans or something up.
The drinks are fairly priced, the real reason to visit is wholly depending on the performance of the night. If you are into the show everything else just works, but if you are just looking for a place to have a drink or two there are much better options downtown.
There are a lot of fun events to catch here. The tickets and drinks are reasonably priced. If there isnt a vendor out front selling food five star is right around the corner. Also, really close to downtown.
Its a dive bar that brings in some of the best musical and comedy acts in the entirety of Florida. If that doesnt sell you on the place, I cant help you.
Really great venue in Downtown Gainesville. They often have food trucks outside during shows and do food truck rallies as well! Huge stage and good amount of floor space. Nice bar inside and one outside too with great mixed drinks.
We like the Food Truck Rally at High Dive. The food is good. Their drinks at High Dive were better than expected, the music was great, & the prices were reasonable for the Food Trucks as well as Drinks from the Bar.
This place is pretty cool. The bands they have are good and I like the intimate setting, because its pretty small. On the flip side its size makes it feel crowded sometimes.
I attended a show at this venue and it was awesome. Morgan the bartender was cool and swift. Can’t go wrong to take in a show at the High Dive, awesome place and can’t wait to go back for another show.
Nice venue to see local acts!
This was a very enjoyable place to go for the concert a great sound system real good people they were super accommodating to all of us during the overtime show and all of us Traylormade guys
Your typical local rock venue/bar. Very intimate environment to see a comedian or band!
Great venue, good drinks and an all around good time.
Everytime I go to the place its always a blast. Good music and company. Sometimes there a food truck there. When you catch it there GOALS! They have good prices on drinks there too. The tickets are good prices as well.
An iconic music venue not to be missed, High Dive used to be called Common Grounds. Its away from the noise and what not of Main Street but still very easy to get to. They also have a Beer Garden that requires no cover most of the time.
Great place and atmosphere they could probably use an additional bartender for bigger events not downing her skills but there is only so much one person can do
Overpriced drinks musicians pay for their drinks . And you have to buy a cup to drink tap water . The only reason to go to this place is to see artists that visit gnv .
As an artist who played here, I cannot recommend it highly enough to touring performers. Great communication, great promo, super staff, solid tech, and an all-around kickass venue!
The place is scuzzy and the management is opportunistic. However this establishment is really dedicated to local music, too bad it doesnt take much pride in the cleanliness of its facilities. Also for the community events that they facilitate that tend to be wildly popular , at the root, tend to be self serving and fall short.
I went here for a Protomen concert and the place is very roomy and dark, the kind of atmosphere you want for a music concert. I didnt grab any alcohol from the bar as i dont drink but the water i had was great. Would go back again if Protomen or another band i like is there.
Terrible venue, no air circulation so it’s awfully hot. I saw a concert there recently and felt like I was in a sauna by the end. Rude employees. My girlfriend wasn’t given a wrist band at the entrance and they threatened to kick her out off of one of their employee’s mistakes. It was ridiculous.
After 30 years of living in Gainesville, I finally had the opportunity to visit High Dive. The food truck event was a very fun and interesting way to experience various food options while enjoying the unique setting of High Dive, which includes live entertainment, a huge plus for me and my friends. A very diverse crowd, reflective of Gainesville, makes for an enriching and lively feel. Looking forward to my next visit!
Best venue in Gainesville to check out local and touring shows of all genres. The staff is pretty awesome too! Andddd theres so much more to this place you just have to go see for yourself.
Great small venue, the space used to be pretty limited but they renovated and updated the layout to provide more space for standing room. Good beer, good music, and when theres food trucks, good food. 😊
So I went on the Gainesville high dive website and you can give them ur address for a ticket giveaway contest through ur email so they sent me a email for the ticket giveaway and I won two tickets for this Thursdays comedy show at the high dive in Gainesville well when they sent me the ticket receipt it was for tonights show in Orlando wow really I will remove my email address and want be going there anymore
There is a cover for under 21 which has seemingly steadily increased or has increased with events Ive attended here. There are better music venues in Gainesville by far.
The young lady at the door was too busy reading her Tom Robinson book to bother giving me more than the minimal information about the band playing. I had to pay cash because her phone was broken, which would have been fine if she could have removed her nose from her book long enough to make me feel as though the venue actually desired customers. Instead I left feeling unwanted as a customer.
Great muaic venue. The sound is great and the inside is bigger than what it seems from the outside. The outdoor patio is pretty comfortable with lots of places to sit.
Meh. Place is dirty, drinks are overpriced, staff is rude, very high credit card minimum, it is hot as hell and they dont even have free tap water. Owner is well known for screwing over local artists left and right. Just look at his response to negative reviews to see what kind of lame person he truly is*Edit* despite what the owner believes, I didnt deface their sign, it was already like that when I took this photo. But Im lowering the rating all the way down to ZERO based on the snarky reply
Excellent venue if you want to get a close-up and personal experience with the band. Awesome sound system and the staff was very friendly.
Great place to hear some music and other local acts. Good drinks and fair prices. Great bartenders and friendly staff.
This is a Total Dive inside and out. Saw a concert here and its very up close and personal. I wouldnt come here unless they had another show
Hot and humid inside$15 drink minimum$1 water cupsCover a bit high…Probably won’t return
Loved the local music, shoutout to Chris Shaw and Co. The drinks were fine, the vodka waters were very strong for 5 dollars. Pbr tallboys for 3 dollars is a reasonable price for sure.
There are no zeros to give or I would. It smelled awful inside & was dirty. We went for a show and ended up leaving because we waited almost an hour for it to start and couldnt stand the smell anymore. Truly a disappointment. Waste of money.
Good live bands and the inside was nice, with the cool air to fight off the outside heat. I didnt care for the moshpitting, but it was still a fun evening overall.
The show was supposed to start at 7pm so we arrived early to ensure good seating. It’s now 830pm and the show hasn’t started yet!
Great place to hear new artists, not many places to sit though and not a great choice of beverages and what they do have varies each time you go. High alcohol prices...have to park in parking garage
Went to watch Drunken Hamelt here. Superb performance with an even more impressive atmosphere. Will definitely be coming back.
They have music venues for any and everyone. Different things are happening there all the time. I just came back from a local rock show and everyone was super nice and chill.
This place is large for the typical downtown show. It holds some of the better ones. The sound isnt fantastic, and neither are the drinks, though there is a decent selection.
I went to see Forever Ozzy and had a blast! Check out their website for future venues! They rock!!!
$10 to get in & $9 for 1 draft beer was ridiculous!! Music was too loud and there were NO College kids there!! UF kids are SMART!!! 🍀🤔😢
My favorite concert and unique show venue w and awesome outdoor area w plenty of seating! Great crowd too!
Cool venue, great bartenders, would definitely go to see another show.
Wonderful experience. No need to say anything. Feel it yourself
Really neat music venue. Alcohol prices were reasonable and there was a surprising amount of seating along the back and walls to take a seat if needed.
Have been here multiple time to watch local and famous bands. Such a great place!
I really like the venue, the only problems I have had is the staff being very slow, and the bathrooms not being maintained. Last time I was there, it was a day activity, they had just opened, and there was no toilet paper in any stalls, so check before you go!
High Dive is a great small venue to check out bands. Theres also a nice outside bar if you need a break from the show.
We had a groupon for a magic show. They said 8pm on the groupon but the event didnt start till 9! Other than that, it was a great time!
Will not go back... The music was great but the bartender she wasnt a good bartender cause she acted like she didnt know how to make a drink. And was rude when handing the card back.
Great staff, great calendar of events coming up. Drove an hour and a half each way for a touring band and loved the whole experience.
Super small but decent set up for sound. Not sure ide drive 3 hours to go there again but ide recommend then to anyone asking
I havent been out to hear live music in ages. I heard Savant of Soul. They were great. Plus a very laid-back environment
Great small venue, the sound guy is great so the bands all sounded great.
Good prices and awesome staff. Frequently have high profile bands here. Local bands that roll through have been awesome as well.
Great venue to see a show. The outdoor beer garden is awesome.
Great staff and location. Good stage and listening area. Outside bar area. Limited parking area on site. No parking on street. Towing zone.
Very limited seating. Small drinks. Dirty.Like its name. A dive bar
Awesome EFEN was Rockin as usual and Adam from Puddle of Mud was Rockin as well we had a very good time thanks for the awesome night out we will be back again
Maybe I just went on a boring day idk but we got 3 drinks for 40 bucks? Not very many people 😕 so not sure maybe Ill try again?
Amazing! Great music and large patio area. Everyone seemed to have a genuine smile on thier face , customers and workers. Outgoing and friendly
Adequate music venue. They often understaff the bar though.
I went near there for the annual vintage market and during the day it kinda looks sketchy. I am sure at night when there is music and lots of people, it is more enjoyable and fun.
Love high dive. Always have lots of awsome shows here..one of tge biggest event places/bars in gainesville. Good prices to see bands.
I love this place, is all i need to have a good time! Good Service, good music. I really like it!
I went to see The Oh Hellos with a friend. It was an awesome concert! The only downside is that it was SUPER HOT inside.
Little bit of a grunge bar or the venue. Really popular bands that put on some awesome performances. I really like this place a lot
One of the top places to see live music Ive ever been to, great sound, great atmosphere.
Super cool venue! We saw the coolest band in America last night, JD Mcpherson! What a rockin place!
Nice and open, but it wouldnt be a bad idea to bring ear plugs during live concerts for ear protection.
Great venue, awesome staff, and amazing shows! Check their site and watch what amazing experiences they bring to Gainesville!
The Violet Reverb was awesome! Fun place staff all very nice with good attitudes and great sound work.
I enjoyed the show, I would return. Great drinks.
Fest was great. Terrific lineup. Well organized event, tons of fans, pretty well behaved.
Nice place and great venue for the very funny improv performers from the Gainesville Improv Guild and visiting from Sanford,FL Lets Get Real.
I always have fun at the High Dive
This place cheats artists. When people are paying $17 cover, paying a touring band $300 is robbery. This is how the world ends up with nothing but push button laptop DJs. Avoid this place like the plague.
Great staff and fantastic hospitality if youre in a band. Sound guy is a very nice man.
High dive gets great artists but drinks are pricey and the $15 card minimum is a little extravagant.
One of my favorite places in town to hear live bands. I went to see Selwyn Birchwood band and loved them!!!
Geoff Tate/Josh Watts ..sounded great at this venue....I will return for another show..
I love this place. Great Burlesque shows, good drink prices, and different events and shows all the time!
Cool place to hang out. They dont master the music well and it can sound very muffled at times.
Was there for Fest. I dont drink so all I got was a Coke. The coke was fine. The music was great.
Great music venue and bar. Definitely a fun place to visit. :)
Nice place. The drinks were way too expensive. The show was cool.
Great for small concerts. Be careful with parking nearby, theres always a tow truck waiting.
I look forward to coming to this place every Fest! Great staff, great drinks and great shows!
Always a great experience. A little warm inside, but well worth as Ginger Billy was hilarious.
Great place to drink and listen to music . Although some of the staff could be a lot friendlier
Drinks werent too pricey, nice venue for a concert and the staff were very helpful.
Good place to get live music decent drinks, they do mason jars with fresh fruit and vodka.
Hot AF. How? Why? Why do we pay money to sweat sitting down? Do what you needed to do to get it reasonable comfortable for patrons.
Really great smedium venue. Awesome character and perfect sound system for the size.
There for Fest. Sound was great, and service was quick, despite the mobs. Cant wait to come back next year!
The place was great and the bartender was great she made some good drinks for me and my husband
Went to the food truck rally everything was great and they had covid guidelines being inforced for safety.
Great dive/music venue. Killer sound and it attracts great artists all while being affordable
