We went for the Latin night, and the music was pretty good. I will say it can get VERY loud, so if you are sensitive, earplugs can be helpful. Pretty spacious dance floor. I didnt love the drinks. We got cranberry vodca, and it felt like just cranberry juice. I think overall a good place for dancing if you go on theme specific nights.

Simons is LEGENDARY! This historic venue is one of the first electronic music venues in the State of Florida and has played host to the WORLDS TOP ELECTRONIC MUSIC PRODUCERS and DJs over the years. If you are a fan of underground electronic music, especially House, Tech House, Jungle, Drum and Bass, and Techno, this is the place to go. The vibe is very undergroundish and reminds me of the golden days of the L.A. Underground and Rave scene. If you go here, ALWAYS check to see who is performing. Often you will be blessed with some of the best DJs in the world. I have seen so many amazing DJs over the years Josh Wink, Danny Tenaglia, Green Velvet, Claude VonStroke, LTJ Bukem, Evil Eddie Richards, DJ SS, AK1200, Dieselboy, John Summit, Dillon Francis, Dombresky, Sasha & Digweed, and so many, many more. Honestly, if you are here for the music and want to dance in one of the most legendary nightclubs in Florida, check out Simons! Its iconic and has had such amazing talent perform there. It is honestly a very magical venue!

Not terrible not great. A pretty average club that gets a bit more hate than it deserves- but not by much. Come with a friend and you’ll have a great time, but it’s not somewhere you’ll meet anyone outside of Halloween events.

Decided to go here for a girls night out with my friend, dowloaded tickets to get into the event for free and a week and a half prior. I contacted the number given on fb to make sure the event was still on and i asked what the prices for vip were and the person messeged back and told me $10 to skip the line for vip . When we arrived, there was a ridiculously long line so we went to the vip line we were told we could not go in right away unless we paid $20 for vip. And when I showed them the tickets they acted like they had no clue what I was talking about, I showed them the text messages from earlier and I said they told me $10 so they honored that but when we got in there it was chaos, people pushing and shoving and spilling their drinks on us so we went right back out the door and said hey this is not what we were expecting in this establishment and we just want a refund and that we want to leave we arent going to drink here, that we cant even get to the bar, but they refused to refund us so one of the bouncers said they would help us get to the free drinks . When we got up there ,after swimming through a sea of people pushing and shoving us around like a mosh pit we each got one very small glass of what tasted like dirty kool-aid toilet water so, we promptly left the club! This was my first and definitely my LAST time at Simons!!!!!! What a dump!

Has a history of posting about all you can drink until X and then telling you they are no longer offering the promotion once youve paid to get in already. The promotion was on their story as I ordered my drink and they refused to honor until I argued profusely

Extremely racist staff equals an extremely racist experience.My friend is here for a summer Languge program and I came to visit her. We were three people and went to the front of the line around 1 am. They tried to charge up 20 dollars each, because they assumed none of us went to college, and then tried to charge us 30 for the 3 of us.They then closes 5 minutes later and I went to confront the white bouncer about why he didn’t tell us about that and he tried to fight me.I will never have proof about why I know he is racist but he made sure to let everyone else but us know that it wasn’t worth it, because I stayed near to listen to what he told them.

I wish I could have given this place a better review but unfortunately my friends and I did not have a good experience at this place. We waited almost 30 mins to get in, watching multiple groups of people get to pass us even though they had just arrive and go in and finally when it came to our group of 4, the bouncer said I can only let you two in, my girl friend and I... but I responded I am paying the 4 of us covers. Then finally the bouncer let us in whe. I told him I was paying. It just was unfortunate that we watches multiple groups pass before we were taken care of.

Bartenders are chill. Most nights simons is lame, so go with a group and go on special nights if you want guaranteed fun every time. special nights are lit af

Unprofessional and disrespectful staff. My girl and I were repeatedly disrespected by staff just waiting to get into this dump. Bouncers literally let like thirty people cut us in line for no reason, making us wait needlessly, and then gave me a hard time when I refused to be separated from my girl while her cover got sorted. Trashy place, go literally anywhere else downtown to have fun.

We went here for my boyfriends 21st birthday. First, they tried to charge us 20$ cover a person. Then after some arguing we got t down to 10$ a person. The second we walked in we got patted down by a bouncer. The club was completely empty. We asked if we could talk to the DJ for a birthday song, and they said ‘no,’ even though our group was like half of the people in the whole place. We asked if we could leave and get reentry and they said ‘no,’ even after charging us 10$ a person for a party of all 21+ The entire time we were treated like trash for my boyfriends 21st. We left and it was the best decision we made that night. I see why the place was empty on a Friday night in a college town. Not my first time here, definitely my last.

Terrible experience. Literally had watered down drinks and their halloween party was a couple of decorations at the front and that was it lol.Dont waste your time or money

Basically false advertised EDM artists showing up and charged cover for Taylor Swift on the Spotify rotation. Something was dripping on me all night from the roof stg. People here will beef for no reason. The drinks are cheap and you can smoke cigs inside, which is the main attraction.

So Simons has gone through some recent remodeling and I absolutely love it, I had not been in over a year because it always seemed empty but I went to one of their shows where they brought in a traveling artist and it was amazing. They have really started to embrace the community and it shows. My recommendation would be to look and see what events are happening before you go so youre not thrown off by higher door prices if they have someone more well known performing. I am excited to see what other artist collaborations the bring in the future!

Went to Simons last night with a few friends and while the music was AMAZING, their bar tending services were awful. We were trying to get drinks and waited for over 30 minutes. We even switched spots and nothing. They kept getting order for those around us and skipping us.Looks like you have to dress to bare minimal skimpy clothing (Ps. Weather was cold outside) and be a frat dude to get your drinks. Very disappointed.

The security inside and outside the place are all really rude. The bouncer at the door took my friends real ID and wouldnt give it back because he didnt think it looked like her. The bathrooms never have toilet paper or running water.

Simons is a little interesting when you first walk in. It has cool little nooks. They didnt have any drink specials which was very disappointing and the drink I did get was laughably small for the price. But all of that I could forgive. If youre looking for just a mediocre night out clubbing that Simons is just like every other club in Gainesville but what really soured my experience there was I went to an event they hosted - Rave of Thrones. I bought a VIP pass with the stipulation that Id get early admission and a picture on a fake iron throne which I did. But the early admission was pointless (Christian Nairn didnt come out for the first two and a half hours.) The fake throne was really shitty and it was so dark in the club that pictures were pointless. So I payed extra to get in five minutes early to a regular club. Definitively a rip off joint.When Nairn did come out it was impossible to move around the club not because of overcrowding but because the club is essentially split into two small sections with little means to get around at an event like that. Overall it was a really disappointing experience wouldnt recommend going there when theres better clubs in Gainesville.

I would not give this one star but that is the least you can for review . This club needs tile or wood on the floor , it gives the appearance of being in construction and there fore it should not be given by the local Government a clearance to conduct business do to safety issues . The owners have had at least two years to correct these problems of which they have not.

Club charges $18 a shot . It’s to small. They don’t even have a trash can in the girls bathroom !! So girls are just throwing there tampons and napkins on the floor it’s sick.

I went there this past Saturday and when I purchased a drink at the bar, a male bartender did not give me my card back. When I asked for it back, he kept telling me he already did. I saw him put the card under the bar so I kept insisting that they give it back. Finally another female bartender saw that I was not going to stop until I received it back and knew exactly where it was and gave it back. It is clear they are running some type of credit card scam so BEWARE. After all that, she tried to threaten me that she was going to kick me out, she probably did this to silence me so that I didnt make anyone aware to what they were doing.

Terrible terrible drinks! They just pour one or two drops of the cheapest vodka ever, fill with ice and you have to pay 4$! Ok, we had to pay 10$ for girls and 20$ for guys as coverage and it did NOt worth it. The worst club ever!!

The dopest spot downtown for gettin down with your friends. Got me a nice V.I.P. booth last time and that was a fun night! These guys are cool at the door and the bar tending staff is on point

Went there, owner and his friend was rude to me plus I wasnt a troublemaker...I was clean as well fresh cool guy who pay 20 dollars to get in the club with a friend who was one there security guard + I didnt see any sign say private area to sit down

I basically lived at simons from 94 95? to 99 i was on the floor the last night of the late night parties 1999 (Danny Tengelia) when they were open to 7 8 9 10ish?am.. It was f,ed up the cops destroyed our CHURCH..This place is nothing and i mean nothing like the good ole days..

Changing my review from 2017 because this place has seriously improved. The atmosphere is great and the events are awesome. I will miss this place when I leave Gainesville.
