At any one of my appointments, Hannah G. and Kiaya D. definitely show out! I’ve been to Aveda more than once for a silk press for my ethnic hair, and these girls did not disappoint! They work so well together and made the client, myself, feel so at home! It felt like I was at a salon with girls I’ve known for years! They both have the perfect mix of professionalism and lighthearted fun that really brings the experience together! Oh, and let’s not forget, MY HAIR!!! The silk press comes out perfect every-time!! Al cut and styled my hair and it was a phenomenal experience! She is so personable and goes above and beyond in all that she does! I got a hand massage while my conditioner was in which was great. She did so well at recommending products that would work well for me! I wanted my hair thinned and even though she did not know how to do it yet she made sure it got done correctly! I scheduled an appointment with Arianna N last month, and I will mostly definitely be a repeat customer of hers! Not only did she color and cut my hair- but she explained color processes to me, answered my questions regarding how to best cover my stubborn gray hairs and the steps she was going to take to achieve the best coverage for me, showed me how to style/curl my hair to get a more beachy wave look that I desired, and advised me on which hair products were best to use to keep my new color looking vibrant and healthy! Hands down, the BEST experience!

I loved how my hair turned out and have received many compliments! I live 4 hours away, but would definitely come back to have Roz do my hair in the future at her new job after she graduates!

I booked an appointment with Chloe Bell and Ive never been more happy with my hair! We chopped off enough for me to donate and she really knew what she was doing in all steps of the process from the big chop to making sure my new bob fit my new look! My daughter and I were at a luncheon in West Des Moines and decided we needed haircuts! Called and the receptionist was very helpful and scheduled both of us and got us in before our scheduled time!My daughter was assigned to Claire. With Tricia having long and thick hair, Claire didnt know what a challenge it would be! However, Claire completed the challenge and was very successful - Tricia was very pleased and loved her haircut!I was assigned to Erin and just wanted a trim. Erin was very pleasant to talk to and we decided on a couple inches without layers. I got my hair partially highlighted and curled by Rozalyn Anderson and she did such a great job! My hair was colored with box dye when I came in and she was able to make it look brand new when I left. Rozalyn has such a fun personality and made getting my hair done easy and fun!

Cici Campero did my hair. I love my hair and I’ve received so many compliments. Your hair is sacred and you have to trust who you go to. She gave me exactly what I wanted. She cut the perfect amount. My dead ends are gone. My hair looks healthier and thicker than ever. I’m so happy with my results. She styled it as well. Once again did exactly what I wanted. I showed her the photo of the style and I wanted and the length and she did exactly that. A hair stylist that does exactly what you want is a rare find. I will definitely be going back. She is a good conversationalist as well. She kept it professional even when there was a medical emergency in the chair next to us while she was doing my hair. 10/10 experience and I love my hair!

Being able to build a rapport with a hairdresser before sitting in the chair brings such comfort to a client who has had poor salon experience in the past. Justin is so precise, careful, accommodating and kind. Justin is not afraid to do fun edgy cuts and styles that may make other hairdressers nervous. A super star!

I have been very pleased with the two haircuts that I have received. Sydney Coffman did a fantastic job cutting my hair. It was a super simple, all-one-length haircut, but it is straight and even. She cut it to the exact length that I asked for too. She is friendly, personable, and listened well. The best part is that the instructors checked my hair and made sure it was straight. I highly recommend this institute and definitely ask for Sydney when you stop in.

Here’s the thing- from the day the doors opened until it was sold this was a high quality place to go where you could count on your results. Today you can’t even call the school. It gets transferred to Ohio to a calling center where they can’t even look you up for your usual stylist if you KNOW they have not yet graduated. I personally have started with and stayed with students till they graduate. Now you get what you get.When you get there you have people standing around and not greeting the customers. I times when a girl came after me it took over 5 minutes for the desk people to greet her and that only happened because someone else came from making tea.Now I’m sitting in the chair and let me tell you my mom did hair for over 45 years so I have learned a lot about hair whether I wanted to or not-The girl I got didn’t take anything I said. So when I say my hair is porous and takes color quickly and we have to start in the back I actually mean it. There’s a reason for me mentioning it. I want a good result. Needless to say the last thing I’ll mention is you’re not any longer saving any money going there as they also charge if you get your hair styled after!! Hello how else do you know you got a good result.I’ll only be back for certain things

I’ve had my hair cut and colored a few times with Averi S. and it has turned out great every time! All of the processes are explained well and I feel comfortable sharing any concerns. I don’t do a lot of beauty appointments, but coming to Aveda is always an enjoyable experience.

I’ve been to this institute several times for a cut, colour, facial, lashes, brows, you name it, and I cannot say I’ve ever had a bad experience. All the students I’ve worked with are very respectful, professional, sweet to talk to, and they make sure to ask enough questions to ensure I get what I’m asking. I always find myself coming back! Not only are the students and teachers wonderful, but the front desk ladies are as well! They’re all so quick at fixing problems, offering solutions, and getting me into my appointment. Maria, who leads those girls, is just as equally respectful and very diligent. Booking with Ahlam was an amazing experience! She was nice and she was able to tame my coarse curly hair to perfection in a beautiful silk press that lasted two weeks! I brought my wife to Aveda because she was wanting something different with her hair, post surgery she was kinda feeling down. We got an appointment with a young lady named Joslyn Miller (from my understanding a student) as you will see in this picture of my wife. She was truly thrilled with the new color!

I was referred to Aveda Institute by my Daughter. She said youve got to go there for your hair color.I had let my hair go gray and was ready for a big change. I used to be a blonde before the gray. So now I was going to become a brunette!It took two visits to get the brunette color to take. Because my gray caused a slight problem.But now I have a beautiful head of COLOR..BRUNETTE.The students were very professional and patient. Im pleased with their hard work. They did not give up on me and my quest for the color I so wanted.

I am extremely sad to o ly be able to give Aveda in Des Moines one star. I just moved here from Texas and almost always used aveda . Only one time did a color go wrong and they were quick to make it right. I cane to Aveda Des Moines 4 weeks ago , I said I did not know specifically want I needed . If it was an all over color with highlights or just heavy highlights . The girl and instructor told me heavy highlights but apparently it was only partial.highlights for 90.00 . When I got home I discovered none of the gray in my hair had been touched and within 2 days my hair turned an orange color. I called and left messages for a weekNo return call. I came in on a Saturday the woman at the desk told.me she was sorry they would fix the color , at no charge and gave me a card for 20 percent off my next trip here . But she didnt have any openings and would call me in a week. She never did so I called for another week , finally got Maria who is the manager ? She also looked at what was done. Told me to come in and they would tale care of it which is what I would expectCame in for my appointment and they wanted to charge me ANOTHER 90 plus dollars because at this point an all over color is all they can do to fix the orange color and since I did not have an all over color I would have to pay for itI did NOT have orange Hair when I came in the first time. I am sad to say that I will not be coming back to Aveda school and would recommend you dont either. Because its all good until they mess up then they want you to pay to have it fixed !

I joined the facial membership today and Sarah T. and the student shadowing her did such an amazing job.
