My daughter and I went on Sunday. The live band was nice with a variety of music. I had shrimp tacos and my daughter had wings. Service and atmosphere were great. I thought we were going to be on the roof top. But it was a hot day so the lower location was a good idea. I love the landscape, waterfall and the outdoor bar in the rear with television. Nice place
Chicken club sandwich is worth trying. Staff was nice and courteous. I brought my toddler during the afternoon, grabbed a beer and a meal, and enjoyed sitting at the restaurant. The high ceilings and open floor plan makes the ambience pretty relaxing. Loved the food and they have a long list of draft beers.
This place is incredible! The atmosphere is amazing and they have different events on different nights. They have music bingo on Tuesday nights and it is free. You can win prizes for the restaurant. The service is super friendly and attentive. The food tastes great and the drinks taste great as well. I gave it 4 stars, because even though the food is good, they dont give you much for the price. The food and drinks are pricey for how little you get.
Wellman‘s pub and rooftop is a great place to spend an evening with friends. They have done an excellent job with the ambience.Their menu has many healthy choices and salads as well as all the red meat options that you would expect at a pub. I had the seared tuna salad which was absolutely delicious.I would have given five stars except the kitchen made mistakes and three out of our four dinners. I’m sure it’s just because they were busy and rushing as the food was still delicious and well presented.
Sunday evening with a few friends to enjoy the beautiful weather. We usually have a great experience here but this night was definitely the exception. Our server was more interested in partying with her friends than serving customers. Swearing loudly across the patio sitting down vaping with her friends and generally disinterested in providing any level of service to us or the adjacent tables. So sorry to let you know the team on Sunday really dropped the ball.
Read some good reviews and was excited to try the place out…almost immediately disappointed. Waiter comes over to take our drink order and three drinks we tried ordering were no longer on the menu. We ordered food as well and everything came in plastic to go containers and all of the food looked like it was catered from a hotel buffet. Wouldn’t recommend.
We were in the area for an evening and decided to try Wellmans for dinner. We were seated out on the patio in a corner spot that felt like a garden. It was really pretty! We ordered the Tuna Nachos that were fresh and full of flavor. We also had the jalapeno popper Rangoon. The Rangoon were definitely fresh and had plenty of cream cheese and bacon. We just didnt care for the corn in them so probably wouldnt order them again. For drinks, I had the fruit smash which was delish, and my hubby had a lemonade drink (I cant remember the name!) which he loved. I know if we lived in the area wed be frequent visitors as this is definitely our kind of place!
Really enjoyed every part of my first experience here. The staff was friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was fantastic. The food was incredible. And of course the drinks were ice cold which is always nice. What made it even better was how helpful everyone was when we told them that the cool temps were going to make being on the top deck uncomfortable. We were quickly moved to the downstairs patio and the heaters were turned out. After we closed out our tickets we were allowed to mingle on the main floor patio and werent pushed out the door like at some places.I look forward to visiting again!
The pop was flat so I asked for a new one. The waitress had an attitude immediately. She brought it back and said it had carbonation and was all they could do for me. It was semi flat and not calibrated correctly. The beer was not ice cold so asked for another. They understood this better as it was a new tap and gave us a new colder beer. The food was only okay. The pretzels were piping hot but if we had not eaten them immediately, they would have gotten hard because they over microwaved them. We’ve had them there before and they were always good. We went to the bar to try to get our check but were told we couldn’t pay up there. We went to the bar because our waitress had not returned. We were finally able to pay. We went there for the sports and they delivered on this; lots of tvs on with men’s and women’s basketball. We appreciated that.
First time out on the patio this year! Wellmans has a great patio some sun some shade, whatever tickles your fancy. The Bloody Mary here is one of the best and the sweet potato fries are actually crispy. Service is usually good and it appears they expanded their wifi coverage. This is a good spot for the patio, a group (Ive done events with 16 people) and quiet lunch meetings (the booths provide some privacy. My favorite item on the menu is the Asian Tuna wrap, fantastic stuff.
We had an excellent time at Wellmans on Saturday night. The entire place was great. The restaurant was clean and seemed fully staffed. My burger was recommended and excellent. Our table was close to the bar and Jocelyn did a great job taking care of us. We camped at her table for several hours, and she was attentive from the time we arrived til when we tabbed out. I thought the noise level was what it should be for a place like that and I would jump at the chance to return if I was in the area.
April 25 must have been a bad afternoon/evening for the wait staff. They were talking to each other in two separate groups and not checking on tables. If one of us managed to catch the attention of one of them, only that person would get an order in or it seemed to be an inconvenience for them to get orders for the rest of the table. Wellmans lost out on several drinks from our table and a food order from me. The waitress lost out on tips for those extra sales. I always tip 20% but cut to 15% because I was ignored on 2 drink order attempts and never got to put in a food order.
Nice environment to watch a game. The food was the worst part. Most things we ordered whether it was apps or dishes werent very flavorful and quite pricey. The app nachos were good so thats an exception. The prime rib with au jus was tasteless, pretzel sticks hard, sweet potatoes fries soggy. My family members had a similar experience with their food choices. I wouldnt recommend this place if youre interested in food first. However, if youre in for some drinks and a decent atmosphere, you might have a better time.
First time visitors, Friday night, 5:30, good crowd but to so full that you dont get good service, waitress was polite and explain items on menu, our drinks never ran out, food came out in a appropriate amount of time.Food was good, lots of tvs to occupy time.
Food was basic but fairly good. It’s what you could get at any bar. It took forever to get menus and the servers were unpleasant. I was up-charged $4 for my choice of side, which the server didn’t tell me when listing the options. I wouldn’t have ordered it if I had known it was going to be so much more. It would be less annoying had I received the menu in a reasonable amount of time so I could look at the menu longer. I liked the trivia game.
Went there this afternoon for a work lunch and had the Chicken Ranch with fries. Chicken was soooooo overcooked that it was like eating a very dry piece of jerky, the shell was practically falling apart with how dry and crumbly it was. May have been a inexperienced waitress but it took forever for us to be asked what we wanted to order and I was so disgusted after knawing on my chicken that I couldnt stomach eating the rest.Straight fries were good...nice and crispy.Other coworkers ordered other items off the menu that looked good but another gal next to me had a nasty surprise when she found blue cheese on her BLT. She probably didnt read the menu to its fullest, but yuck! Another had a way overcooked egg on a burger that boasted about the overeasy egg.Cool atmosphere, awesome pictures on the wall, roof top looked neat, but I wont eat there for lunch again.
We sat outside and the atmosphere, service and food were very good! Very beautiful outside with the landscaping and the food / drinks were amazing!
The setting was great. However, the bouncer threatened my little brother. The food was awful, and the service was subpar
Was a great place. Lots of variety of food to choose from. 1st time there. Thats pretty unique. Huge variety of adult beverages too. Will definitely go again. I had the California burger with regular fries, which I thought was pretty huge, only ate half, fries came out crisp. My friend had the regular cheeseburger w/potato fries, looked very good too.
Wellmans is a first rate facility with large in door bar area with plenty of seating.. the have great happy hour specials and have a really beautiful outdoor seating and a roof top bar.
Went fir brunch and sat on patio with live music by Indivisible. Great atmosphere and delicious food!
We stopped in between events of a bachelorette party. Our food was good, sips were delicious but our service was top notch.
Tried to take my son out for food and football last Sunday. Was greeted and seated promptly by a young lady with no personality or smile. Sat there with no menus, no drinks and no recognition for 15 minutes. 5 to 6 high school to college aged girls hovered around the server station looking at their phones and talking. 1 slightly older female running the bar, but obviously not a manager, as she never pushed the servers off the bar to tend to the customers. Asked my son if I should go ask the servers for menus or if we should just head out. My 13 year old son was smart enough to know that we may have placed an order by disrupting their conversation but that the service would likely not improve, so best go elsewhere. Took ourselves to tuddys tavern and had a drink, pizza and some almond entrusted chicken fingers. If any of those young ladies made any money that day, it was a disservice to the hospitality industry. Only way to correct horrible customer service is to walk out without tipping, so they know they did a horrible job. Those young ladies need to find another line of work, they will starve working for tips.
I came here at 10:15pm tonight (a Tuesday) and its closed. Update your hours on Google or be open like you say you are. Youve wasted my time and gas getting here. Negative experience, poor form.
Food was really good and drinks were a tad weak, but the waitress was quick and my drink wasnt empty long ever. The atmosphere was enjoyable. Slightly loud, but you could still talk. Nice place. I recommend.
Loved the Ribs, and the DJ played table trivia me and Ms. Trudi had a great time. Highly recommend
Love this place. Had the Poke Tuna & others had Margarita pizza. Poke Tuna was amazing. Very cool outdoor seating area. Server was wonderful, prompt, and polite. She messed up our bill, and owned it very well. No issues here, but she caught the error, clarified, apologized, and made it seamless.
Stopped in for lunch. Had a California Burger and onion rings. Fast lunch went a little long for food to come out of the kitchen, but was fresh and tasty and service was delightful.
Had the Buffalo Chicken Mac & Cheese. Awesome!
I had one of my worse break ups in my life. Rough, hard, someone I cared about but had to let go... food is solid. 7$ for a beer is crazy.
Our server told us about happy hour and specials. Attentive but not a bother. The Masters was on 4 screens and the bourbon lemonade was delicious. Flat bread pizza was yummy. The Terrace Hill burger with a fried egg and I added sweet potato fries, which was a great choice. Lots of drink choices, good specials, and outdoor seating options. We will be back!
Josie was my waitress and I must say everything that she recommended me was AMAZING !! She was literally the sweetest and took good care of me! I ate so fast I forgot to take the pictures, & most of the time I go out to eat I don’t get dessert because I’m full by that time but I got it here and OMG I fell in love 😍I will definitely be back! And hopefully Josie is there too !
Food was phenomenal !! Above and beyond. The service sucked, and they have enough wait staff. Our waitress gave us pitchers of water and no cups or straws. I had to go to the bar and get it myself for a party of twelve. The downstairs bartender made weak drinks, it was like he chose to make ppl a diabetic. Everything was too sweet. Upstairs the bartender was on point. The ambiance both up and downstairs was great. Sports like downstairs, chill at the rooftop. The downstairs outside patio area I did not get a chance to experience. But overall, I would definitely come back.
This place was nice for our large group to stop in for a few drinks. The bartenders were friendly and knowledgeable of the drinks we wanted. We will go back when it is warmer and can sit on the rood top. Also want to go back to try the food we saw.
Awesome food! Members of our group got their seared tuna salad, and wow were they impressed! I had the shrimp tacos which were also great. Very large dining area and bar- could hold our large group and the rest of their patrons without any discomfort. Servers were very attentive and friendly.
Drink prices are high. Staff was busy but not making much effort to accommodate guests.
We love the HaPpY Hour specials. The Blackened Shrimp Tacos and the Lettuce Wraps are so delicious. The drunk specials are great, too. Our server Shakirah was perfect! She never forgot any of our requests. She came over to our table at just the rights moments. She was super helpful with menu questions. And....she was so friendly and pleasant.
Went for steak night. Both steaks cooks were off. Portions the sides were a bit on the small side. Steak flavor was good and tender though. Good in a pinch, but not a show stopper. Service was excellent as well.
Food was so-so. Do not order the bottomless mimosas at brunch. We were brought pitchers of warm orange juice. Very little or no champagne. Even after respectfully commenting to the server about it, we were brought yet another round of the same thing. It was a rip off. I would not recommend this place for brunch. There are better places.
Our server Lydia was great. Food was good but if youre anything other than Iowa fan... dont waste your time. They wont acknowledge your presence. They are in DSM.. not Iowa City.
The place is large and open with high ceilings. The outdoor patio was nice with both covered and open air seating. I have not been to the rooftop, but it looks like a nice option as well.Large menu with quite a lot of sandwich and burger options as well as appetizers and entrees. The beer menu is sufficiently large with several local options.Service was decent but not outstanding. Location is convenient in West Des Moines. Parking is odd, you have to park in a dead end or across the street.
We had a great time. Our party took up three tables and our wait person was terrific. Fun place, good food, reasonable prices.
Met a couple of business associates at this place. Nice atmosphere around 5pm to about 7pm. After 7pm, the volume went up and made it a bit difficult to talk business, but I understand that this is vibe as a large number of young adults started rolling in after 7pm.
The food was delicious and they have bottomless mimosas.
Family is in town staying at a nearby hotel. We stopped in for dinner around 8pm. We sat on the lower floor patio, ordered our drinks, and ordered our food pretty quickly. We waited an hour for our food, and nothing ever came. One of the people at the table flagged out server down to ask if food was coming and she laughed and said oh yeah and walked away. She didnt come back. Like literally never came back. Someone else from the table had to walk inside to see what was going on. The server never put our order in. She never came back to tell us, never communicated with us. No manager ever came over to apologize or speak to us. Zero acknowledgment from anyone once our server left when questioned about out food. We left at almost 930 with everyone hungry. The patio tables were full, but the inside was dead so its not like the place was overwhelmed with patrons. Disappointing on every level. Poor service, zero communication, lack of customer care... Zero management oversight on issues... ridiculous.I would give it a zero star rating if I could.
When I got there they refused to service me good with 5 mins left of grill still open. I had to wait 15 mins to get a drink and when I did they charged me the wrong amount. When I closed my tap it was charged for 10 drinks when I only drank 6. Had to talk to the manager about my charge. Total scam when it comes to drinks. Never go there because they over charge you for drinks and extras. Wouldn’t Recommended. Just go to shotgun Betty’s.
Slow day not many folks in the restaurant for lunch after one. However, our service was slow and enthusiastic, didnt really welcome us or look at us when taking orders. Food was ok, and restaurant cleanliness was ok. Have had better service here before.
We absolutely adore this place. Weve been here a few time and as Colorado Native that just moved here we have had nothing but the best service. But I want to. Recognize Lizz. She is an absolute amazing bartender that checks in better than Ive ever seen! She is the true asset of this place. Come see her and give the food a chance. Everything is fantastic and we will be back for all our brunch needs!
Food was great and our waitress was awesome!
Have been there a few times and each time my (tap) beer was very warm. FYI, it comes out of the tap that way. Ruthie was my beer and other kinds also came out very warm.
Nice food hit miss. Salmon tops 😋. Roof is cool when weathers right.
The service was NOT good. It seems as if there was lack of training and our server was not attentive to our needs - she seemed lost. The wait was also awful. 2 of our 7 guests DID NOT GET FOOD because the wait was so long! We would see our drinks on the bar and our waiter would walk right past them - we had to remind her a few times to go pick them up! Not a good experience or worth my time ESPECIALLY since their food prices are a little on the expensive side. On a positive note: the food our table did receive was actually pretty tasty.
We started with the lettuce wraps, which were amazing! Unfortunately, that was the only part of it I liked. My rice bowl came out cold, and my drink was made wrong. The other people in my party got burgers and fries, which were hot and good, it was just my food. And our server kept forgetting what we were asking for and had to keep coming back and ask what we said. All in all, not my favorite.
Pretty great food. Ive been here twice so far during my visits to Iowa.Only 1 issue, but its minor! The first visit, there were a lot of bees outside. After moving our table several times, we ended up taking our meal inside to avoid the yellow jackets who were buzzing around the tables. On our 2nd visit last week, we watched a staff member throwing soda from vacated tables into the fountain outside. Not sure, but there may be some correlation between the sugary drinks and the bees hanging out.
Great food until late, great staff, and a great place to enjoy music. Thursdays are a great way to celebrate your birthday, and a live dj keeps the energy going.
Sports bar so very loud on Sunday with football games on all the tv sets. Food was very good and came out super fast but otherwise service was just okay.
The food is delicious and they have big portions so it makes it worth your money! Service was great waitress was attentive. She accidentally spilled water and my fries and it was a tiny bit nothing to worry about. But she still gave me a new fresh batch. Definitely going back.
This is a fun bar to go watch some football, grab some food, and have good drinks. They have tons of TVs and you definitely won’t miss anything in the big game. I do enjoy sitting out on their patio they have great landscaping in the outside bar is cute!
Food was subpar and thrown together. Servers had serious attitude issues and in the 30 to 40 mins spent there was only checked on twice.
Very nice rooftop patio. They had a good selection of beer and wine, but our bartender didnt seem to be up to speed. I was still able to make a good enough selection based upon what I could see. We didnt order any food. Next trip.
The patio area outside of the dining room is nicely landscaped and shaded for outdoor dining. The service was a bit inexperienced and included wine in less than appealing glassware on the first attempt. The food was very good. Good concept for outdoor dining.
Go for your bday, call and ask about the bday ordeal first. Free drinks!
We ordered to-go since we werent really dressed for public viewing... hahaha anyway, pleasant voice on the phone took our order. Pleasant young lady gave us our food. And yes, I always tip on to-go orders. The place is really nice inside. We took the food home... yummy! We both got a burger and onion rings. Mighty tasty. Well be back. Hopefully to eat there, not just order to-go.
Bar needs more bartenders and ones who can actually tend a bar. 15 minutes to get 2 draft Steigls after having to educate the bartender on what he had on tap. Great sound and video system. Fun atmosphere, DJ had the place moving.
Used to love this place, but we had to walk out today. Sat upstairs on the patio and were ignored for more than 20 minutes. I totally understand that everyone is understaffed, but someone couldve at least said something. Letting people sit there unattended means you simply dont care. We even asked the bartender if they were serving food since we figured maybe they werent. No, they were. She still didnt send anyone over for the next ten minutes or so. Thats when we decided to leave.Look, I waited tables for years and try to be understanding about things. But everyone has their limits. If you cant actually serve your customers or even take the time to say, hey, were understaffed today, then maybe you shouldnt tell them youre open for business.
Sophia is the best she always takes care of her people. She is a amazing waitress and very beautiful has a great smile and will do whatever she can to take care of her customers. She knows what regulars wants and makes sure they get it.
This is my husband’s first time here and we are on vacation. The roof top was not available due to a private party so that was disappointing. We were able to sit outside and enjoy the nice weather on the outside patio which had some nice scenery. Our bartender was new to the area (according to her “two weeks”. She was very quiet.) Everything seemed to go well until I was handed a cup of water. Less than a minute I noticed a long piece of hair in my cup. When I addressed this to the bartender she gave me this blank stare. We decided to stay and enjoy our beers and the weather regardless of what just happened. We went ahead and ordered an appetizer. I would have rated this high but as soon as a different waitress set the plate down I had to address another piece of hair this time long and brown that was visibly standing up in our loaded Wellman chips. No one apologized for the TWO pieces of hair that was found in our drink and food. Not even a manager. So sad that we had to receive this kind of poor service at such a nice place.
The service staff is young and inexperienced and very snotty and snooty. It started with the bartender, then the hostess and then the servers on the patio. Really poor service but most of all servers who think they are better than the customer an portray that. Management needs to step in cause they have a hot location and good food but I wont eat there again cause o attitude of servers
Went on a Friday night, so it was SUPER loud and busy. Our server eventually found us and took our order within about 10 minutes - she was great. My friends had burgers and loved them. I had the chowder, and was kind of grossed out...it tasted heavily like mayonnaise, which isnt really what I was expecting in a soup. Decent beer selection...not many dark beers though.
Stopped in for an early dinner, and I cant say I have a desire to go back there, at least not for their tuna. The cuts of tuna looked great, but it tasted like the coated the outside in season-all, which overpowered the natural flavor of everything else on the plate. Ive also heard of issues with their water and sewer line on recently, and could begin to smell it as we left. The staff seemed friendly but there were quite a few who seemed to be standing at the reception desk and gossiping.
Food was good, service is reasonable for this type of open bar atmosphere. My biggest beef with this type of place is the noise, its literally impossible to hear someone at the opposite end of the table, and I mean literally any table in the place. I get the loud noisy bar thing but its literally deafening and just completely off-putting to not be able to have a conversation. We were there around 7pm and there were no large groups or crazy sports events. The salad I had was very fresh and well made. Just cant get over the noise.
We had the pepper jack bites, the goat cheese BLT and the fried burger. All of the food was delicious and the fries were super tasty, too. The service is prompt and friendly, reasonable prices. I love the atmosphere, it feels big, open and relaxed. The menu is large and we want to try so much more, we cant wait for our next visit.
I guess bring cash or there will be a fee added on at the end of the bill. We were told there was a sign on the front door but it’s in the top corner where you normally wouldn’t even notice it. Waiters and other staff members didn’t wear masks and tables we’re definitely not distanced. Waitress forgot about us and apologized which hey I get it everyone has those days. But then she continued to forget about us. Told us at the end she discounted our meal but we found an additional charge which was because we decided to use card. Spoke to a manger to try and clear up what was going on because we were just generally confused about the charge because there was no reason for it on the bill and our waitress forgot about us again... we were then rudely treated and asked why we demanded a discount if we were just going to argue. Which we didn’t the waitress handed us the bill saying she discounted it we didn’t ask for it. Overall an unpleasant experience for overpriced food.
I don’t know why I keep going back, maybe because I love my husband... Food is terrible and service is never good. We were disrespected by a “manager”. They have teens running this place that have no respect or understanding of how customer service works. Apparently after all the negative reviews the owner could care less. I have never left so frustrated at any place of food service before. There are tons of great places to eat in West Des Moines. Avoid this place. Quality of food/drinks suck and so does the staff.
Showed up to the restaurant. Wanted to sit up stairs on the rooftop. Told it was seat yourself. We picked a table and waited for over 10 min. No one acknowledged us. We went downstairs and was told that they were really busy upstairs so that is why we were not helped. We were seated outside. Took over 10 minutes to get served and an additional 10 minutes for drinks. I order a Coors Light because it was on draft, but she never asked and brought me a bottle. My Cuban sandwich was dry and mediocre. It had potiential, but the pork was warm in some spots and cold in others. Fries were decent. But nothing special. I think they were poorly staffed. Cool outside vibe, but wished management allowed for proper training and staffing.
I love the vibe and the bar. The atmosphere is great, the wait staff is exceptional. Its the warm beer and cold fries that I hate. Please Wellmans do better so I can keep coming back because I love this place. --- I have since returned several times and they listened, much better now. Thank you Wellmans.
Friendly staff wearing masks but menu at noon was limited to their brunch menu today, so we left. It was also too cold for us in the dining area. They had room outside but not in the shade. Only been here one other time and the food and service was good.
Terrible Experience last night at this West Desmoines location. We were told about the Wednesday special wings .we ordered some beers after re-ordering wings, the server started saying we have to pay extra. I tried explaining her why we were not told such at the beginning and the special offer do not say about paying extra anywhere in the menu. She got mad and sent someone else with our bill when we asked about checking out. I took my folks who were here from out of town. The rudeness of server and inconsistency with the special was very disappointing. Will Never comeback !!!!! Very Bad experience . I would give Zero stars if i could
Good atmosphere, good food, and great service pretty much sums it up. We go occasionally and popped in tonight for Rockstar bingo and had a blast! Their Wednesday deal on chicken wings is amazing and what usually draws us in. Would highly recommend to just about anyone looking for a casual diner or to watch the game with your buddies!
I usually love this place. Great drinks. Great atmosphere. Good food. But this last time sitting at the bar on the rooftop had unfriendly service. And even with social distancing the bar got filled with one of the bartenders friends that were loud and pushing through the boundaries set up for social distancing. That bartender was clearly annoying the others by just sitting there with her friends and on her phone instead of serving the rest of us patrons at the bar.
Food was okay, but service is not so good. They were not busy at all when we went since it was a weekday around 1:30. The staff were just standing around joking and on their phones. My water was empty before my meal came, but she didnt offer to refill it until we were done eating and ready to cash out. Since this is a service industry, service should be a huge priority.
Service was terrible. Very slow. We got little attention during our time there when the establishment was not busy. Our meals were not brought out at the same time and the servers never stopped by.The staff had no incentive to serve and were very poor in their delivery. We want to support this industry after what it went through in the pandemic. However, the staff at Wellmans showed very little effort in turning things around. We will not be going back. Do not plan your meal there.
This was a first time visit for myself and my wife. We went to join some family members for dinner and a drink.First off, if you are going to call yourself a pub/bar, your staff had better know something about the drinks available. We asked for a drink menu-only online.Look online, order something-we arent doing that anymore, the website is out of date.Order a fairly well-known craft beer, have to repeat myself and tell the waitress what it is.Second, I have a feeling the manager or owner is going for a Hooters-like vibe:All wait staff are females. All females are wearing crop tops or tank tops. All staff are wearing short shorts. Most staff are long-legged blondes.I suppose there isnt necessarily anything wrong with this, but the only male I saw while there was tending the outside bar.Third, food was decent, with one exception: my wifes Chicken Ranch Wrap came... without ranch. Also, our waitress checked on us once after we had our food, but never asked if everything was ok and if there was anything else they could get for us. Then later after asking for our checks, the waitress took care of four other tables (for about 10 minutes) before returning to double-check that we wanted our checks.Overall, food was decent, drinks were fine, and pricing was reasonable, but we probably wont patronize again.
Food was decent. I was a little confused about my bill and felt like the tone was off from the management. It felt like they thought I wanted money off when I was just confused why the price differed from what I thought the meal cost. The difference was more than $20 from what I expected. Overall it wouldn’t be my first place to eat but I might give it a second try.
Lots of room for social distancing and TONS of outdoor seating both on the rooftop and on the main level. The food is good, nothing super fancy, but good. My only complaint is that the food generally takes a while to get to your table. If youre not in too much of a rush, its no big deal, but if youre there on a lunch break you wont have much time to enjoy your food.
We visited Wellmans twice in the matter of two days. The first time was for drinks on the rooftop. I have no complaints, the drinks went down well and the DJ music gave it a nightclub vibe. I loved the open air of the rooftop, a great summertime spot to come after dinner for drinks. We left before 10pm though, so I am not sure if it becomes more of a party or not.The second night, we ordered dinner to go, and this didnt go as well as drinks. Ordering to go was a breeze, but Im the type of person that believes to go food just doesnt taste the same. I ordered the Cranberry Salmon Salad with a side of Sweet Potato Fries - unfortunately, the salmon on my salad wasnt edible. It was terribly overcooked. And the fries werent cooked enough, they were too soft almost doughy. My friends that also ordered seemed to be alright with their meals, they ordered burgers. I suppose when you order from a bar, dont try to go the healthier route. Lesson learned. We also ordered the pretzels which I will say were cooked about right, but didnt necessarily taste any better than a pretzel from Annies at the mall.Im sure Ill give Wellmans another try in the future, I have family that brings me to West Des Moines a fair amount throughout the year. They have quite an extensive menu, so I can anticipate trying something different in the future. It appears they have a good mix of offerings salads to wraps, mac n cheese, burgers, sandwiches and pizza.
I’m old but come on. There are hotels across the street that have to listen to that club music against their wishes until the wee hours of the morning. Play your loud music in the INDOOR club, not on the rooftop for the whole neighborhood to hear. Not everyone around you is 21 wanting to tear it up. Seems like common sense and common courtesy but apparently the owners of Wellmans are lacking both.
It was suggested that I swing by this establishment if I was in the mood for drinks and good people. Certainly didn’t disappoint.I went on a Wednesday (wing night) and sampled the Sriracha wings and Hot wings which were all great. I was even invited to join a couple playing trivia (also on Wednesday’s) which was fun.The atmosphere is that of a public house or gathering place so the noise can be loud which was expected. I wouldn’t say it’s family/kid friendly but more of an adult hang out spot.I didn’t venture outside or upstairs so I can’t speak for the service there; however the bartenders inside were attentive with great service.
Loved the outside garden/water feature. Great food as well. Definitely want to try more of the menu.
Waitress was great, they have amazing white wine sangria. I went here for lunch on Tuesday with one of my friends. I ordered the Seared Tuna Salad. The tuna was overcooked the first time with barely any pink, and I sent it back, apologizing for being picky as Im a pescatarian (I only eat fish). The waitress was super nice about it. 20 minutes later, (my friend is done with her meal at this point), its brought back remade. The tuna is COMPLETELY cooked through this time. 🤦♀️Super disappointing. If you dont know how to properly sear tuna, dont have it on the menu. 🤷♀️Having worked in food service as a waitress myself before, I assured the waitress that I knew it wasnt her fault and still tipped her 20%. She offered to give it to me for free, which I said was unnecessary as I still ate the salad, just not the meat. She charged it like a side salad instead. 🙌
Normally my experience here is great, but this time, our waitress literally didnt talk to us. We visited on Wednesday, which they have bottomless wings, and that was my order. The waitress didnt ask to refresh my order until after my family was done eating. We had to ask her to refill our waters. Like I said, normally my experience there is amazing, but this time just wasnt up to par.
The environment is phenomenal. Inside bar, patio bar and roof top bar! The staff are very quick with their work and friendly. They had accidentally given my food to another table and offered to give me alcoholic beverages on the house. 10/10 recommended for the food, staff, entertainment and environment!
1+ hour wait time for food (including appetizer). We ordered the pretzels and BEER cheese, heads up, not beer cheese. The cheese is nacho cheese from a dispenser. We also got the wings, which sucked. Ranch Chicken Wrap also was not good. Don’t recommend for solely food. The atmosphere was good.
Dirty silverware in 3 different rolls we tried. The food was okay, but the service was slow. They dont have a kids menu or booster seats. I didnt expect that it was a super kid friendly place, but it seemed really weird to not have the amenities or anything posted saying they were not child friendly. We were in for a quick bite early in the evening, but it took much longer than expected. I am not in a rush to return, with or without kids.
Good food and good service. Recommend the Cuban sandwich and sweet potato fries which are served with a cinnamon infused dipping sauce. It is loud so keep that in mind if it is of concern for your group.
The wings were perfect! We also enjoyed the tenderloin and a chicken bowl, both were excellent
Good meal, service was not. New waitress that needed training. Had no idea about specials that were on the wall right behind us. Was very loud and hard to hold a conversation.
It was my first time, and I really enjoyed the food. The service was prompt and friendly. It was a bit loud though.
Great food and great atmosphere! our server was so incredibly kind to our children as well which we very much appreciate! We have older kids so it wasnt that difficult to order, but it would be nice to have a small kids menu.
Great atmosphere with the grotto and the rooftop. Food is pretty good but in super quick. They have some great cocktails.
Worst experience I’ve EVER had!! Apparently babies are not allowed upstairs, but are downstairs. The short Chad manger with a Napoleon complex claims this would cause them to lose their liquor license. We had to ask several times for the wait staff to take our food order. They forced us to sit upstairs because “they didn’t have enough seating downstairs” but when we left there were several tables filled with 10 plus people. By the time we finally got our food, the food was partially cold. We will NOT ever be back here.
Ive only been here in the evening and only to drink - never food. The servers and bartenders are nice. I read other reviews about having to go to the bar to get drinks but I guess I didnt realize that was an issue at a...bar? I dont have any major complaints, but it does seem odd to have loud music when no one is really there. Sometimes this is a popping place and there are people dancing, but generally there is not and its just a pain in the arse to try and talk to people... but this also isnt advertised as a cozy place to socialize I guess (Im also old AF and dont get the appeal of loud music unless its live or you are at a dance-type bar). I will say that most of the music they play is great, 90s and 00s most of the time. I dont order any fancy drinks, again, Im old, I stick to my captain and coke, and those are really hard to mess up.
Way understaffed. Took our waitress 15 minutes to get to our table and ask for drinks, then an hour for the appetizer to arrive. Everyone in the restaurant was looking at our corner of the restaurant because we were sitting next to the kitchen and the stations where waitresses were frantically figuring out bills, punching in orders, and figuring things out in general. Our waitress told us it was her first day, there was no trainer with her ever. She went back at the 50 minute mark to check on our appetizer at our request, and the cooks apparently yelled at her for asking. Thats just terrible management and honestly sounds like a terrible place to work! All the waitresses seemed stressed and overwhelmed. I had heard good things and was excited to try it but I wont be going back or recommending it to anyone. The food was actually pretty good, but not worth the wait and watching poor servers running around pulling their hair out because they are understaffed and not trained properly.
I would give this place 0 stars if I could. We came here tonight and the hostess didn’t even look in our direction for several minutes and then quietly said someone would be there to help us soon. Another girl came over and the two just started whispering to each other and still no acknowledgement of us. A third girl finally showed us to a table. All the staff seemed to be more worried about gossiping with each other than helping customers. Beer was warm. Terrible service. Loud screamo music. Trash all over the floor. We will not be going back. Absolutely awful.
Almost didnt go in...staff hanging out front smoking. Major turn off. I should have known! Had their Chop Salad...supposed to be one of their specialties. WORST SALAD EVER!!! NOT served at all like described. Chicken precooked & VERY dry. The lettuce was WHITE...JUST PLAIN BAD!!!DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY!
Used to give it a three, now its a one. Try to get a seat at the bar if youre looking to get a quick drink. Terrible service, and thats if you can get a table. I left angry and frustrated with the hostess the last time I went there--drank two beers at the bar and still didnt have a table, so took off. If management could keep quality servers and a better hostess this place would rock. The food is usually good, but the staff take away more than it can make up for.
Wellsmans had excellent atmosphere, the establishment was very affluent and they have trivia nights to make it even more lively. The unlimited smoked wings (on Wednesday) were incredible, the mild buffalo have an amazing taste beyond just a traditional buffalo flavor. The garlic parmesan wings were excellent as well with a rich savory flavor. Would highly recommend and I will be back!
It would have been nice if the waitress had informed me that they did not have free refills on soda. Most bar/restaurants do free refills and if they don’t they inform the customer. The service otherwise was good, the food was good, but that’s a big miss.
Good food, lovely patio. Tuna steak burger is awesome and they have excellent chicken nachos. Some of their food is overpriced for what you get (Im looking at you, tuna nachos), and the service is not great. Ive had a range of mediocre to outright terrible service.
Nice patio to enjoy with friends and family.
This place was the best! We walked in and it was the friendliest staff from the start! It was Wednesday of the state fair. We tried forever to get a cab back to our hotel we couldnt thought we would be on the curb till 2 in the morning. My husband decided to ask a staff member if she knew someone that would take us back to our hotel! She found someone to take us back. When she got off work she took us to our hotel. Not going to mention any names so they dont get in trouble, I dont know your pilicys, but would always recommend this place!😘
This was our first time here for an Easter brunch. The waiting staff were awesome and very attentive but the food was both good and not so good. I had the bet the farm breakfast plate which consisted of hash browns, roasted corn, eggs and biscuits and gravy on top. The hash browns were not crispy and the biscuits were either reheated leftovers or just bad quality (dry and bready) with just a little gravy on top and not enough. This was one of their specialties apparently. We did get the pepper jack fried cheese bites and those were awesome and would have those again. I would try a burger or something else next time.
Wing and wine Wednesdays are great. They dont skimp on the wings. Our most recent server, Stephanie, was super sweet and even though the place was packed, she made sure we always had a drink. Ive done brunch here a couple times as well and its always been pretty good! Bottomless mimosas and bloody Marys
Good place to hangout/watch games with your homies. Good place if youre looking for a fun night life setting. They have a nice outdoor patio upstairs and downstairs. They also have a few nice large-party (5-7 ppl) booths.I wouldnt take my family there-- unless youre looking for OK bar food and setting. Bathrooms are gross, music is loud, and other customers get to be obnoxious.
I love the food here is great. Also the price is great. For whatever reason the customer service has gone down. Waitresses texting at the outdoor bar instead of paying attention to her customers to see if food was done. Please have a cell phone policy for your wait staff.
Went last night to play bingo. Loved the atmosphere and the food. The ladys are so beautiful. See yall soon.
Wow wish we would have went somewhere else. I suggested we leave before we even entered the building. However, we where on the road traveling for many hours and the reviews online read well. So against better judgment we continued inside famished. As you can see from the pictures we took on our way out. We were greeted by a filthy entrance. Bottles and cases of empty beer , cigarettes and dirty rags outside. Again trying to give them a break as it is Super Bowl Sunday and I am sure Saturday they were busy obviously from the looks of the entrance. The rest of the business appeared decent otherwise we would NEVER have entered at all!!!! The staff standing around on phones constantly (RUDE, RUDE, RUDE!!). No checking on our table for more refills or to ask how our meal was at all! Sub par $8.oo drinks and to top it off... we only got half our full change back after paying a $53.35 on our bill. Apparently when you pay with a $Ben Franklin you dont deserve your actual change. Called management to asked why server #53 doesnt make change and the manager told us they round up the tab . So apparently the staff at Wellmans is only IPhone Cell dummy/ smart and cant count to make change properly.Recommendation eat someplace else. This establishment is poorly supervised and my prediction is the location will be sold soon and probably made into a dental office.
Food was ok, one of our meals was over 15 minutes late and they did not refresh our drinks often enough. The price was right for what we got and the atmosphere is fun. I will be going back again, as I think the issue was an isolated event due to our large party. The meal was comped off, so they did make it right with us.
Came in today for lunch with my family of 5. Asked the lady at the front if we can watch the Packers game and that we needed a high chair and a booster chair or two high chairs. She said she had two booths available on the left hand side of the restaurant but on the WHOLE left side of the restaurant the Packers game was only on one small TV. She continued to let us know that the TVs are set and can not be changed. I asked if she could check if there was anyone that seemed almost done on the right hand side of the restaurant because we really came to see the Packers game and we were willing to wait a little bit. She said while she rolled her eyes, I GUESS I can go check it out. Sighed and walked to check. She came back and said she didnt think any booths were available. Mind you, I never said we need a BOOTH. I said unfortunately I think were going to leave then because we came there specifically to watch the Packers game and you arent willing to change a TV that no one is watching. She then said that she didnt want us to leave but she only had a high-top table on the right hand side of the restaurant. I asked if the high chairs would reach that high and she said yes, which I was surprised that was the case but said we are totally fine with a high top table! She rolled her eyes again, sighed and said with a nasty attitude, Well come on then! and started walking to the table. The way that this lady talked to us at this point made my husband turn around immediately and walk out. I asked to talk to a manager and she said she was the manager! I let her know why we were leaving and that I hoped her day got better because she could use a better attitude and tone when talking to people. Both my husband and I have worked long hours in the service industry and would NEVER interact with customers this way. Wellmans should strive for much better front of house staff and not just rely on a steady flow of patrons to be okay with mediocre service, let alone management! We wont be back. Waited 10 minutes for a table down the road at Grumpy Goat with exceptional hostess, management, and wait staff there.
The atmosphere here is great but the food is quite overpriced for the quality and portions. The rooftop service isn’t super great but the rooftop alone makes it worth it
I went with my sister- and we had HORRIBLE service. She got us waters and drinks right away, but we didnt get the option to order until two other tables did... that came in after us. Then our neighbors got our food when it came out and the waitress apologized to them and not us. Oh, and our empty glasses say in front of us empty until we were done with dinner. The food was great tho!
45 minutes no one came to our table. Went to bar and got our own drinks. Server finally shows up and recommends to just order appetizers if we want our food in under an hour. At this time only half of the tables were full. No one checked on us or came by to see if we wanted more drinks. Huge management failure if they are unaware of what is going on.
Typical upscale sports bar but better food. Visited Wellmans while traveling for work and it was a good option. Beer and food specials nightly including Happy Hour, good selection of drafts and lots of TVs in a community atmosphere. Long bar top tables encourage socializing. A fun and attentive wait staff round out the experience. Not a bad seat in the house if your watching sports. Was too cold for the rooftop so didnt get up there, but I could see hanging out up there after work or on a weekend night in the Summer.
We came here with our 19 month old daughter and they gave us a high chair, yet every single table in the restaurant was much too high for a high chair to be useful. My daughter couldn’t even begin to reach the table to eat. And for a place that carries high chairs, they do not have a kids menu. I had to pay $10 for adult chicken strips so my toddler could eat and like any toddler, she only ate a very small amount. The music was ridiculously loud, it made it impossible to hear each other over the noise as well as the shouting of the other patrons. Super disappointed in my experience here.
The rooftop is a great place to hang out with friends, and have a drink. Its a great after work destination. I stopped on a Thursday with some coworkers, and it was busy, but not crowded. Our waitress was right there when you needed something. I was told that they also do trivia nights on wednesday.
The upstairs doesnt have a great selection of local beers or food, but the downstairs is WAY too loud. Also recommend against the DJ we heard. He cycled through songs about every 15 seconds for some dj bingo game. Great music choices, but just never played anything to completion.
Great pub & food. The atmosphere is great, S are the patios. Staff is top-notch and very attentive.
Was driving through Des Moines and was hoping to get some food here. Now it seems like its more of a bar than restaurant, but we didnt know that till we got there. We stood up front for five or so minutes, staff kept looking at it but never came over to us.Seemed like a nice place, Im guessing the kitchen was closed, but no idea, never got any help.
Cool place. Visited here on business, and had a great meal. atmosphere was great.. Drinks were awesome.... the staff... SUPER COOL. Those folks on the roof top know how to keep you happy. Will be back.Follow up visit- Just as happy- Go here, you will be glad you did.
We went there for Sunday Brunch. We were hopeful for a unique, non diner experience, unfortunately, the menu was limited, service was slow, and the food was definitely prepared properly. We had their version of a Monte Cristo, and it was dull and lifeless, felt like a typical diner sandwich, and the hash browns were barely present, and were lukewarm and under portioned. They may be better as a bar and grill, but not good for brunch.
Gluten free pizza wasnt gluten free. Im not extremely sensitive and I was up sick in the middle of the night.Very loud atmosphere and food was over priced!!!
Never going back. We waited forever for our food to arrive and we were there on Unlimited wing night. We never got the second order of wings despite the server checking on the order 3 times. The kitchen ruins that place, our server was very friendly but it was obvious she was humiliated by the kitchen issue.
Wednesday all you can eat wings are very good. Sriracha bouban sauce is tasty. Add a glass of wine. Cool atmosphere as well.
Nice looking place. Seated promptly but never had a server come to our table. Saw four of them standing around, but none came to us. After 10 minutes we left and went to Bonefish.
The service was good the drinks were good the appetizers were good but we had dinner and I had the tune poke and my tuna had bones all in it so I didnt eat it. I told the waitress and her response was yea that happens.
Sunday Funday, was not very fun. First time we visited and took our server (and bartender) about 25 minutes to bring us our first beers, wich she said couldnt be draft because we were in the patio but other tables (with other servers not bartenders) had draft beers, our sides were cold (onion rings), chips were soggy and fries werent fresh, after almost an hour waiting (grilled cheese, chilli and a burger) and we waited about 20 min for the other rounds of beer. So unfortunate that our first experience was not good at all, I was very excited for the rooftop concept although I had seen not so good reviews, not only us but at least 4 other tables whom we spoke too (got dessert before dinner, empty drinks for 30 mins). Multiple servers were scrambling to try and catch up and constantly apologizing. The funniest thing is that she gave us a discount and it ADDED $3.85 more to our bill. I really hope that next time I go I have a better experience because IT IS A WONDERFUL CONCEPT AND LOCATION!!! Servers and runners need more training and to pay more attention to detail.
So welcoming and great service!! Left the (should be closed down for hygiene reasons) Chocken Coop to come here and so pleasantly surprised at good CLEAN service!! Blessed to have such a great place to watch our Huskers!! #GBR
I just visited Wellmans rooftop bar & grill and had the best service! Our waitress Jessica was on top of everything and kept the bottomless mimosas coming! The food was great and the environment was upbeat and COVID friendly! I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone and everyone!
Wasnt impressed. There was a ton of waiters, yet we always had empty drinks & would have to flag our waiter down if we needed anything. Food was good though. Service was just slow.
Spacious bar perfect for watching the game or meeting up with a group of friends. Prices are average and food is great. Upstairs patio has a great view and accommodates colder weather with standing heaters.
Outdoor patio was relaxing and a great place to catch up with friends. Server was attentive and food fresh.
Thought this would be a great place to unwind after work with a co-worker. Sat on the rooftop and sat and sat and sat.... buddy finally went up to the bar to get drinks. While he was up there I was approached by a server who said shed take care of us this evening. First round gone...and we sat and sat and sat. My turn to get up and go to the bar. Could have gotten better service at home on my deck. Spent most of the time watching the employees on their phones behind the bar. Horrible service in West Des Moines... Ill be heading back to the Grumpy Goat!
Good drinks, fair prices. When its busy some of the staff act a bit curt, but theyre usually understaffed and the clientele is tipsy. Its more about management failing to provide adequate customer service training. The parking situation is not ideal, on weekends you end up parking either far away or in a dirt field. But on a nice evening, the rooftop is very nice.
Giving 2 stars only because the atmosphere is fantastic. Food is garbage (both times weve dined here). Service was lacking. Nonetheless a cool spot in West des Moines. Come full so you dont have to eat.
Went on opening day for baseball. Had all the games we wanted. Good food, good beer. No complaints.
Staff was great! Food was great! Atmosphere was great! What more could you ask for? Go.
Will forge your tips and they do it frequently.
Stopped here for dinner while staying in Des Moines. Food was tasty and they have a pretty good beer selection. The best part is the rooftop bar area - great to sit outside and enjoy a drink with friends. Live music on the lower patio was also a plus!
Had a great Asian Chicken salad during lunch and the bloody Mary’s are really good, not too spicy. On Sat and Sunday 10am-2:00pm they have unlimited Bloody Marys and Mimosas for $12. The service was fast and friendly! Will come again.
I will try it again, though it was pretty loud even with only a few people there. It was difficult to talk to people at the table.
This place gets packed when the weather is nice, so get there early to get an awesome rooftop seat! Good upscale bar food and nice atmosphere. Can be a little noisy with people and music-so if you want a quit spot this isnt for you.
Says open til 2AM it is 11:50PM and they are closed.
Not very impressed. Wednesday is advertised as a wings night with all you can eat. Sounds great. Problem is it took more than 45 minutes to get 1 serving, and we never did get our reoder ( after 2 hours). They were also out of draught beer.
Kinda too sportie till 6pm then its more bar type atmosphere. Decent food but pricey.
Comfortable setting, good food. Love the TVs, sports decor and sports ticker. More enjoyable for lunch than dinner. At dinner it was so loud we could not hear our own table talking.
Good people. Didnt know they had food. Went there for drinks.
I was here on Saturday night for a surprise birthday party for my great Niece. There were about thirty of us. Our waitress, Kori, who is also a manager, went above and beyond to take care of our group! Thanks for all of the extra olives Kori!!!
Drinks were awful. Had to ask for an extra shot just to make the drink taste like one. Food came in a to go box for all 4 of us to share. No plates. Birthday celebration, not impressed.
This spring we received a welcome to the neighborhood mailer from this pub, we bring in the mailer and they turn it into a VIP card good for 10% off for the rest of the year. We decided to go Fri the 20th June, 2014. We gave the mailer to our server, Kenzie, who was wonderful at her job. Three of us had 8 drinks, and nachos. When we got the check, it was not itemized, only a total, which she told us was their policy, but she could get an itemized one for us, and did. Imagine that there was a mistake and we were overcharged, which they corrected, but the 10% had not been applied, so she took it back, and had to get the manager, who apparently was the owners son, to correct and apply it. I asked how we got the VIP card, and when she asked said manager, he tore up the mailer, and told her it was a mistake, and was only good for one time. She asked for him to speak to us, and he refused, told her that was her job. I always hear that restaurants want to know when there is a problem so they can fix it before they get a bad review, hard to do when the manager wont speak to you. We only live a half mile away, such a shame that we will never be back, wonder how many other people get ripped off by not having an itemized bill as well....
Great atmosphere. It was to cool outside to enjoy the patio but there is a ton of seating outside as well as inside. The food was great and the prices were reasonable. I want to go back when the weather is better and I can sit outside.
DOES IT HAVE TO BE THIS LOUD??My biggest pet peeve is places that crank pop music and in this case crank the game audio you cant wait to leave because you cannot talk to anyone in your party without yelling. This makes for an awful customer experience and instead of hanging out and continuing to order drinks we left. Why dont managers realize the high decibel levels are a turnoff.
Fries tasted and smelled like they were in the same old oil as the fish. Water tasted like bleach. Was sick before I even made it to my car.
Was my First time there and I really enjoyed myself. Great environment, great music, nice people and great drinks. And the food was amazing as well!! I recommend going to the rooftop to enjoy your time there on a beautiful night!
Great food. Very busy due to Hawks game, made it hard to have a conversation. Also the chairs are VERY thin and my husband had to sit on the edge of his chair our entire meal.
Not very happy with the service from one of the bartenders. I go upstairs to socialize with friends but get denied service all because I use to date one of his friends. When youre working, you shouldnt bring personal issues into the mix especially when my friends or I am paying going to pay you and leave a tip.
The air-conditioning inside was really cold. But I get it it is fall. Jaden did a great job. The pretzel was really good too
Stopped in with 2 buddies for lunch! Our waitress was MADDIE, she was phenomenal, i havent had a waitress actually make eye contact in years, thanx to Maddie and Wellmans my afternoon was much better than my morning!! I will see yall soon! Thank You!!
Overall it was a good time, watching the Iowa Hawks finally win a bowl game after 5 times. Just a note though if you get the nachos was for the top plate, its very hot right out of the oven.
They have several large screen televisions with music videos playing. The downstairs is very spacious and they save a lot of drink ordering time by checking ids at the door. I waiting a while to get my drinks ordered because the unenthusiastic bartenders were all over the place and seemed to be picking people at random. The drinks were made well, though.
Great food and service!
Smells like vomit inside. Had Addie as a bartender outside, she was amazing though. Would come back for her.
Good food and great service. Never been there for lunch. I would definitely go back. The chicken on my salad was a little overcooked. Otherwise great experience.
Decent place. Our waitress didnt bother to clear our plates until after we paid. Didnt seen to interested that we were there, probably wont be going back.
Great place to open a bar. Sat at a table near the bar downstairs and waited 10 minutes as 4 servers passed by without asking for an order or an acknowledgement of any care. Mentioned to one of the doorman, his response if you dont like it go somewhere esle. Which I did. Will not return here.
Good rooftop bar scene during the summer time. Brunch makes for a very good vibe indoors year round. Bottomless mimosas or Bloody Marys are definitely affordable and well made.
Watch out!!! They charge a WHOPPNG 4% fee for using a credit card!! A credit card company only charges 2.75% so they have no problem taking and making money from their hard working waitresses!! Be sure to write on the receipt until they stop robbing their AWESOME staff!!!
Bad service!!!! Be-aware!!! Bad service!!!! Be-aware!!! Bad service!!!! Be-aware!!! Bad service!!!! Be-aware!!!Bad service... got over cooked wings n complained ..waiter said fine n asked what can I do , we requested please get something else she agreed . Ordered a shrimp... but when check came they charged for wings were arguing to pay for that even if we did not eat after trying only one wing n asked them to take back..Bad service!!!! Be-aware!!!
Good for sports or hanging out. I have been here to watch the games at the bar on Sunday and with a big group during the week. Good service both times and above average bar type food. The nachos with meat are excellent.
We both had the tenderloin on the roof top. Excellent infection control, servers wore masks and food came covered. Food was good and evening was the best.
This was my first visit to Wellmans west. Ive been to the Ingersoll location numerous times. Service here was amazing and fast. My only problem was that while the menu is the same as the Ingersoll location, the preparation is different. Different fries, different bread, just too many things are changed. Ill be sticking to the Ingersoll location from now on.
Stopped in after watching TJ Miller at The Funny Bone. Was very pleased when they allowed us to order food with it getting only 10 minutes before kitchen close. (Very sorry kitchen staff!)While sitting there TJ came in and sat right beside us to grab some food as well. I cant tell you how excited we were! Then to our dismay he was told the kitchen was closed by the server and he left. :(Cant believe yall turned him down (It was only about 5-10 after 10). I mentioned it to our server and she couldnt believe it either! I guess Wellmans just isnt a fan of Silicon Valley or Deadpool. Sad.
Ordered pretzel sticks they were like hard pretzels not soft which I asked about said oh sorry we’re 0-2. The staff was ok more worried about socializing together then serving
Visited this place again when visiting Des Moines. Wellmans got this right. Seared on the outside, just warm on the inside, on top of a generous portion of greens with a slightly spicy dressing. All at a good price with quick service.
Delicious food, but if you are looking for a quiet, relaxing meal this place is not what you want.
