Once they received notice I was discontinuing my membership (which was kind of a pain in the first place) the level of service I received dropped greatly. Suddenly they had no good time slots to use my remaining credits on and the only massage therapist that had openings gave me the most low effort, comically bad massage I’ve ever had. Kept asking for more pressure (which I rarely have to do) and basically got lightly touched for an hour. It was like they wanted to ensure I did not schedule additional sessions to use up my credits. I found the person who ran this location to be sort of rude & difficult to communicate with.Beware the “membership” model at this place, it’s really not worth it in my opinion.

Stephanie at the front desk is extremely professional and courteous. She makes sure to ask how I am doing and takes the time to find me appointments around my busy schedule. Autumn is an outstanding therapist.

I have been a client at this location regularly for over a decade. The ownership and staff have always been accommodating to my schedule and my regular therapist is amazing. Always clean, comfortable and friendly!

Absolutely Horrible. My husband got me a massage for Valentine’s Day. He was at work when the lady was texting him about a membership. He told me to ask about the details when I got in. BEFORE signing ANYTHING i specifically asked if I could cancel at anytime. The manager helping me said “Yes, we just need 60 day notice”. She failed to tell me that the 60 day notice only applies once you’ve hit the 12 months. They’re refusing to cancel my membership and keep charging me although I’m not receiving services. Customer service has been awful. I will never recommend people to go here!

I’ve been coming to the West Des Moines location on and off for 10 years! I’ve pretty well stuck to my same massage therapist (Kasey) and absolutely love her! Every once in a while when I can’t get in to Kasey they will sneak me in with another therapist and Stephanie always knows who will best suit my needs ! Even when scheduling they know what days work for me and make sure I book in advance or I would never remember (or get in) ! Whether I’m in for my back pain or if I just need an extra day for myself, I love this location. It’s always cozy, clean , and SMELLS AMAZING ! So amazing I usually have to have a candle or 2 on my way out !

The staff at the West Des Moines location are outstanding!! Very attentive to your needs. The massage therapists are fantastic at working the areas your body needs most. The front desk staff, Stephanie and Vicky, are always so cheerful and make you feel special at every visit!!

The receptionists greeting was warm and welcoming. Mandy the masseuse asked good question before we started. She seemed very experienced and professional. I look forward to seeing her at are next appointment.

This review is not a representation of the location, cleanliness or massage therapists, but a representation of the receptionists and manager who changed my appointment time without consulting me.I have cancelled my membership due to poor business standards. My appointment time was changed without being asked or even informed. To their credit, they did send a 24 hour pre-appointment confirmation with the new time, but in my multiple years as a Massage Heights member this has never happened, so honestly I didnt read it clearly and confirmed trusting that things were as planned. I would expect a change in appointment time to be relayed to me through a phone call, and much sooner than 24 hours in advance. When asked if they would reimburse me for the 30 minutes of my appointment I missed, they said no because I confirmed it. If that is their sticking point, thats their choice, but that is no way to run a business. If anyone, in an industry, needs to change or modify an appointment, the expectation is that they call and consult with the individual it will affect.All in all, I admit that I dropped the ball in reading the pre-appointment text, but they will not admit any wrong-doing in this situation that lead to me missing half of my massage. Admitting you messed up is not weak, but the manager and team here sure have a hard time admitting their part in this fiasco and taking responsibility. They are taking $30 for an unused half hour from me but losing many months of future payments from my membership because of their stubbornness and miscommunication.Had they made things right I would not have cancelled my membership and I surely wouldnt be writing this review, but its worth knowing that the management at this location is poor and I would advise finding a different location or servicer in general.

I have really appreciated all the therapists at Massage Heights in West Des Moines. I was fortunate to find them when I did. Every week for the past three years I have been receiving massages for my migraines and lower back pain and it has helped tremendously. Whenever I needed to change or add an appointment, Stephanie worked with me to resolve it. She has been a life saver!I cannot express my gratitude enough for the services that I have received.Thank you!

Absolutely love this location! From the awesome ladies in the front that great me through the door and book my apts to my amazing therapist Casey who i cant wait to see again! Recommended 90 mins with hot stones with her! Excellent experience every time i go!

Good experiences over many years overall, but not with a certain male therapist who went on and on about his (very conservative) political views and some inappropriate comments about my body/massage techniques.Eta--i had a really great conversation with the location manager and she assured me this therapist was no longer with the company and she offered a wonderful incentive to return and try them again. With conscientious management like this, they earned another shot.

I’ve never had a bad massage here and more importantly - I’ve had some really great massages here!To add to that, their esthetician is amazing! I always leave feeling like a brand new person with beautiful, glowing skin!Atmosphere is nice. Facility is always clean and welcoming.

I have been a member for over a year now and am continuing my contract with them. I love this place. I have tried several different therapists, each have their own unique style!! I love the fact that if I am able to fit in my schedule a massage for the day, they can usually get me in!The front desk girls, including the management are wonderful. I love the fact that I can call in and they already know what I want! They actually take the time to get to know their members and it makes a difference.

You take the bad with the good at this place. First, there were some scheduling issue that required my appointment to be moved. I wouldnt typically mind this because I understand it can happen but, in reading other reviews, this appears to be a pattern with this location so I thought it was worth the mention.When I arrived, the front desk staff was very nice and I filled out a quick ipad questionnaire before waiting only a couple of minutes before my massage. So far, so good but no one confirmed which services I had signed up for, which became a problem later.My massage therapist took me back and, as is typical, asked me about sensitivities and problem areas. He felt around my back for tight spots and I appreciated the thoroughness. I made it clear that my lower back is very sensitive to pressure but he seemed to take this as a challenge and said Id have to feel the pain the get the muscles to relax...this seemed very odd.Once we got going, my biggest pet peeve any time I get a massage is when theres a ton of talking. Im there to quietly relax and it feels rude to tell them to just be quiet but my nonverbal responses should be a sign and he did not get the hint at all. There was SO much talking. Constant stream of chatter. Like...nonstop talking.The massage itself was a mixed bag. The pressure was good and I could feel myself relaxing but instead of running over my muscles a few times and actually massaging, he just kept talking and pressing down and holding a random intervals. I didnt really feel like my back got a thorough massage.I also signed up for the foot scrub, the hot stone, and a facial massage. The hot stone were great. The foot scrub is totally not worth the money. Its a pretty useless add-on, I got nothing out of it. I cant tell you how the facial massage was because I never got it. The therapist assumed I had booked a full facial instead of the facial massage add-on and I didnt know any better having never been there before. In the end, they took it off my bill so I wasnt charged for a service I didnt receive but I would have liked the facial massage.The massage ended up feeling like more of a physical therapy/chiropractor appointment than a relaxing massage but my muscles are a little looser so I suppose the end goal was met?I was disappointed they didnt offer me water right after the massage. Every other place Ive ever been to has done this because massages can be dehydrating.The last big problem came at the very end of the session. My massage therapist was talking to me about my terrible posture, which is right on the money and I didnt mind. But instead of telling me to hold my shoulders back he told me to stick the girls out, referring to my breasts. I did not appreciate this comment. I said nothing about it there, mostly because I wasnt interested in hearing empty apologies, but it was in poor taste and at the end of the day, I wont be coming back here for a massage again.

Stephanie is literally the worst manager. Every single billing cycle they have to call me and ask me for the same card they have on file! Most companies you can’t stop from taking your money, this lady cannot figure out how to use the card on file smh. Oh and then she’s a real peach when she does talk to you on the phone. 10/10 do NOT recommend this location until they get their management trained.

I, like everyone else, couldnt cancel my membership. I completed my 12 months, (which ended up being 13 because I had to give 30 days notice and pay an additional month) and was assured countless times Id completed the cancellation process correctly... just to be charged another month!! (Which wasnt refunded) This wouldnt have bothered me so much if I hadnt had 10 less than wonderful massages. They cant seem to keep their good therapists from quitting and going other places!! The front desk girls arent professional looking---greasy hair?? When did that become acceptable? The customer service is terrible, the therapists are unhappy and over-booked (hence why they quit) and it just makes the massages awful. Then sometimes the therapists smell like cigarette smoke! Just dont do it. The 1 hour massages are cut from the 50 min (they claim it takes that long to get dressed and undressed even though they dont get you until 10 min after your appointment shouldve started) to 40 minutes regularly without any type of compensation. Any elevations you add are part of that time and they often forget to do them and youre still charged for them. Find a different place until this place can find themselves some decent management.

Havent been able to schedule anything with them. I called to schedule and no answer. Left a voice mail. No call back. Tried the new text service and it took 2 hrs and 50 min for them to get back to me in the middle of a business day. I tried to stop in to cancel my membership to no avail.Nutshell: I cant schedule a message and I cant cancel my membership. I stuck with them during the pandemic and really regret that now.

This place is awful. I was a member and had two therapist I really liked. They frequently canceled my appointments however and did not attempt to put another therapist in place. They also frequently cannot find files and are confused over billing when I was on auto debit with credit card. I looked forward to my last Friday of the month massages. I was always so disappointed when they would call to cancel. I cancelled my membership and was promptly let out of my contract and credited with unused dollars in my account. They do get points for that.

I purchased three 1 hour massages as part of their holiday promotion package and you can only use 1 as they are considered introductory price and they charge you double so your $70 massage becomes $140 double, forcing you to join there membership program, almost double what some of the nicest spas in West Des Moines charge. This is total false advertising and unprofessional!!!! I would not recommend!!!!

I had a massage and facial on July 3 and proceeded to leave a $30 total tip, $15 for each lady to split who took care of me. I have a $56 charge on my credit card now. This is AFTER one of the ladies who works there scheduled the incorrect date for my massage and facial, then my mom was told (she bought this for me as a gift) that I CALLED AND CANCELLED the original appointment that was supposed to be June 19 but the person speaking with my mom scheduled it for June 12. Then they proceeded to lose the gift card purchased by my mom.I never cancelled, it was supposed to be scheduled for the 19th, they lost the gift card, AND NOW Im being charged almost DOUBLE to have some lotion rubbed on my face and back. This is terrible practice of a company and I will never be returning.

Marsei is the BEST for deeper pressure. So kind and courteous. I always leave feeling refreshed and knot free. My only complaint is that the front desk NEVER answers the phone the first time I call. Isnt that one of your main responsibilities while working there as an admin? I never had this problem when I lived in KC and went to the location in Lees Summit. Once they finally answer, they are always friendly and accommodating. Would recommend this location.

I hate to write a rant… but this experience deserves one.I booked an appointment today 7/24/21 for 6pm. I was called and left a voicemail that my appointment was moved to 5:30pm to “optimize” the schedule. When I called back to confirm, I asked if I would be able to extend to a 90minute massage since I was coming in early. The receptionist stated, no because the appointment before me was a 90minute session. After hanging up I then received a txt message that my appointment was moved to 5pm. I called back to ask about the change, the receptionist then acted surprise as if she was not aware of the change and then confirmed it was moved to 5pm. I then asked again if I could extend to a 90 minute massage. The receptionist responded, no because I was the last appointment of the day? I then inquired about my original appointment originally being @ 6pm and the location closing at 7pm. I got another response that I do not believe was truthful. I then attempted to speed across town to now get to an appointment moved up by a hour. I accidentally went to wrong location, told receptionist I was about 12 mins away (eta 5:16pm to west Des Moines) for her to then say that she would recommend rescheduling because I would not get the full hour… I hope no one else has had the same customer experience because this was absolutely horrendous.Oh yeah..this was my second time attempting to schedule an appointment at this location. The first time I was called 30mins before my appointment to let me know it was being canceled because therapist was sick

We were running late and they were super understanding and got us in very quickly when we arrived. They did an excellent job! My boyfriend & I couldn’t believe how much it helped our muscles that evening and the next day. Very professional and clean too. Devin & Kaitlyn were great!

I paid for 60 minutes got 50 minutes massage. I ask for Deep tissue. I had student massage before they did way better then here. All the other places I been they never short me on my time. Later that day or the next day usually your body aches never did. I had least 50 massage.

Talk about horrible customer service. I went in on a Wednesday morning to cancel my membership. First off, they didnt have the heat on and it was 4 degrees outside. Also, I was stuck waiting in the waiting room for 15 minutes without anyone in there. I called them 3 times and heard the phone ring and no one answered. The other client in the waiting room informed me that they are always understaffed.... I was not surprised. Finally, the rudest manager came to the front desk. After I had told her I waited 15 minutes in the freezing tundra she didnt care at all. She also told me that when you cancel your membership you have to give 30 days notice so you will charged another month (it says that in the contract so I was okay with it) but she then decided to tell me the system has a glitch so I would get charged for TWO months... aka an additional $60 for nothing. She has no idea how to run a business and is trying to take your money. I called back the next day and asked them to fax me a copy of my cancellation policy and the lady at the front desk hung up as soon as I asked for it. I called back and they told me the fax machine was broken. This place is joke.DO.NOT.EVER.GO.HERE. (go to the Ingersoll location, it is so much more pleasant and the staff actually cares)

This place is a joke. I bought my girlfriend and I massages last year. I paid with a credit card and they had to take my card number down because the machine was broken. About 5 months later I see a charge from massage heights. So I called and they said theyd look into it. A week later I call back because they didnt get back to me. Come to find out they linked my card with a members account and Id been getting charged for 5 months. They did pay me back but gave no sorry or heres a free massage for charging you hundreds of dollars to your account. Never going back. And am telling everyone I know to avoid going here.

I dont understand the negative reviews. I have been going here for over a year and have never had a bad experience. All the massage therapists are amazing, and the front desk receptionists have always been nothing but polite. I highly recommend Massage Heights in West Des Moines. Great prices and great massages.

Called in because I got a Groupon for 1 massage. Nicole was very helpful & knowledgeable about getting the best deal on memberships and explaining what they offer. They are very flexible with meeting clients needs with available memberships and really aim to please. Ended up signing up for memberships for two people - good value!

First time getting a massage and it was soo amazing! Don’t know why I haven’t gotten one before. Marsei and Jeff were great therapists and had us feeling like new people when we left! Highly recommend if ever in need of relaxation.

I have been going to Massage Heights for over a year now. On the few times Ive had issues with cancellations or rescheduling appointments, the staff has been very courteous and helpful in accommodating my needs. I work a lot of hours and my schedule is hectic so this is great for me.After seeing a few therapists, I was able to get in regularly with one of them (I wont name names unlike other reviewers) and she is great! Shes given me advice for lifestyle changes to help an old sports injury, and recommends products outside of Massage Heights for me to use. She has reflexology, knowledge of homeopathic remedies, and really really deep tissue massages when I need it. Couldnt be more satisfied! And I really like getting hot stones during the winter months.By the way, make sure you understand your contract. Ive seen when people have gotten mad when Ive been in there because they didnt understand your contract. If it says you have to put something in writing, put it in writing. If it says 3 months, it means 3 months. When I was first a member, I just asked the up front staff to help explain the contract and they spelled it all out. Now Im on a month to month plan (you can do that after you complete your contract; mine was six months) and if I ever want to cancel all I have to do is put writing in notice 30 days ahead of time. Not hard to understand, and this place saves me money. Never had a problem.

Canceled Fathers Day massage, because massage therapist called in sick. I understand if someone is sick, but being that its Fathers Day it put a damper on plans to spoil our loved one. Plus they called only an our before the appointment. Our first and last experience with this place.

Do not ever go to Massage Heights! Terrible service, and poor quality massages!I requested a certain massage therapist; and they did not follow through on their promise. Also, I paid for an hour massage, and because they were running late, I only received a 35 minute massage. I contacted the Manager Kristen, and she was not in any way customer-service friendly about it. She only wanted to argue with me...very rude!! They really do not care about customer satisfaction at all!

Nice place with a calming atmosphere and professional (but really young) staff. Room was nice. Massage was good. Therapist was knowledgeable.Would recommend to friends. BUT book early. Getting an appointment in the evenings was booked weeks in advance

Visited the Massage Heights over by the WDM Hy-Vee and had a great experience. Wed asked for a couples massage and it was just right. Kasey is super, and even gave me some ideas to help my neck pain. My husband and I will be going back!

Rudest people ever, they hung up on me after they have cancelled my appointments several times over the last 3 months. They will gladly take your monthly money but cant ever seem to schedule you

Flat out lied about Thier massage package needing to be used within 6 months. No reminders or FYI at any point left with 2 hrs massages that cant be used. Dont ever buy a package. Its a scam!!!

Good place for a monthly massage. It can be difficult to find the right therapist, usually you will have to try a couple to find the right fit. Wish there was some way to fix that.
